Shrimp and grits with pickled onions on top

This food was sooooo good! My hubby had the shrimp and grits. I didn't get a bite but he assured me to was wonderful. I had a bacon egg and cheese on Texas toast. The bacon was deliciously Smokey and those potatoes.....just perfect!

Absolutely worth a visit! One of our favorite meals on our trip. The food was excellent. Loved we could get as much ice cold water as we needed.

I'm SHOCKED that Simpl Cafe is not ranked higher on Yelp! Don't let this little "off the beaten path" restaurant fool you. Three of us had the best shrimp & grits we've ever eaten. My son had the steak & egg toast which was also incredible, BUT after sampling the shrimp & grits he said he would get it the next time we visited. His girlfriend is a celiac and had the gluten-free lemon loaf, which was better than any "regular" lemon loaf I've ever had. The outdoor dining along the Pigeon River was a welcome & quaint brunch setting after a long drive from Savannah heading home to Ohio. It is well worth the added few minutes off I-40. My sister-in-law has a cabin @ 45 minutes away in Pigeon Forge and we all said that it would be worth the drive to come back to get the shrimp & grits the next time we visited the cabin!

Visited for the first time today. Was not disappointed. Customer service was wonderful as well as the food. Outdoor riverside option was beautiful. Highly recommend.

    House Burger

Excellent Choice! Short drive off I-40. Passing through at lunchtime on a Friday. Welcoming , Friendly & Super Efficient staff offered suggestions on their fav's. And they were not wrong. The Aioli on the Double Bacon BLT is next level. The House Burger was juicy & spot on. Clean, Inviting & Cozy! We ate on the porch , taking in the view of the Pigeon River, although a warm day a slight breeze was present after a rain shower. Give it a try. No Regrets.

Food was fresh and delicious. Will be great when it cools off a little to sit on the river while dining.

Who knew?!?! A little coffee joint in East Tennessee could have a chill, welcoming and fun vibe!!!…read more Soon as I got back in my car I bragged to my wife how pleasant my experience was. And oh the coffee was excellent!

The pistachio latte was so good. The Ube latte was good, but can't really taste the Ube flavor. Solid place for specialty coffee. We also had the strawberry banana smoothie, it was yum. The food and drinks came out pretty quickly and the servers were nice. The Bad: The place seems to be specialized in crepe, so we ordered the Mixed berries crepe, the strawberry with Nutella crepe, and the apple cinnamon crepe. While the cream inside was delicious, the crepe itself was cold which made it a little gummy and it was a bit too thick. The apple cinnamon crepe had a mixture of cooked and cut fresh apples but unfortunately the fresh chunks didn't mix well with the overall texture of the crepe so it was not great. If they had sliced the fresh apples or put them on the side, it would've been better. The Ugly: We had the Greek omelette which was not big and can't really taste the feta cheese. It came with a hash brown but it was probably heated up in a microwave instead of fried...it was dry and missing the crunch. The bread was cold that came with the omelette, it didn't came with butter either. Our experience was a letdown on food, but good place for coffee.

Diane and I are celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary and decided to take a trip to Tennessee…read more We began with a five-day stay in Nashville, taking in all the sights, before heading to the Knoxville area and renting a house on Douglas Lake near the small town of Newport. After spending a couple of days exploring Gatlinburg and Dollywood, we decided it was time to check out some local restaurants. A search for "good bar food" in Newport brought up several options, and The Neighborhood BeerHouse immediately caught our attention. Their website looked great, the location was easy to find on Main Street, and parking was a breeze. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted with a warm welcome from Tanya, the bartender. The place has an inviting atmosphere, and we chose to sit at the bar--our favorite spot when visiting somewhere new because it gives us a chance to get to know both the establishment and the locals. A couple of patrons even offered to move down and make room for us, which immediately made us feel right at home. The restaurant also has a separate dining area adjacent to the bar with low-top tables for those looking for a quieter setting. They offer 20 beers on tap along with a nice variety of bottled and canned selections. I kept it simple with a Michelob Ultra draft. The menu is extensive, featuring everything from skillets, brisket, fajitas, steaks, burgers, sandwiches, salads, and soups to a great selection of appetizers and sides. We noticed a nearby table enjoying what looked like giant fried logs. We soon discovered they were the restaurant's homemade mozzarella sticks--and MASSIVE doesn't begin to describe them. With so many tempting choices, making a decision wasn't easy. In the end, I decided to throw my dietary restrictions out the window and ordered the deep-fried hot dogs topped with chili, onions, and a touch of yellow mustard. They normally come with fries or tater tots, but I substituted homemade coleslaw, which was fresh and delicious. Then I really abandoned all self-control and ordered a side of bacon mac and cheese. It arrived in a cast-iron skillet, perfectly cooked with a crispy golden layer on top. It was absolutely amazing. The hot dogs were outstanding, the chili was flavorful and well-made, and honestly, it may have been the best meal I had during our entire Tennessee trip. Diane chose the Cobb Salad, loaded with mixed greens, onions, tomatoes, egg, turkey, ham, bacon, and generous slices of cheese, served with balsamic dressing. The portion was huge, and even she couldn't finish it. The Neighborhood BeerHouse is a wonderful place, and I highly recommend giving it a try if you're in the Newport area. The food alone is worth the visit, and they also host karaoke on Fridays for anyone looking for a fun night out. A special shout-out goes to Tanya, who was incredibly friendly, helpful with menu recommendations, and made our visit even more enjoyable. Great food, great atmosphere, great people. If you stop by, be sure to say hi to Tanya!
