    BEC Bagel with OJ

Located on Haywood, this unassuming cafe was a real find. A no frills "hole in the wall" kind of place with lots of natural light & comfy seating. The cafe is pretty much seat urself, grab ur coffee & water, utensils/napkins from a coffee bar area (which I like). You place your order at the counter and it is brought out to you. We ordered 2 Bacon, egg & cheese toasted bagels & a breakfast burrito bowl. Honestly I wasn't confident about how I would like the burrito breakfast bowl, but I thoroughly enjoyed it! The bowl is fresh baby spinach, chopped tomatoes, avocado slices, cheese and scrambled eggs, sooo good. A substituted vegan sausage for the hash potatoes in the bowl. We will definitely be back tomorrow morning!

We were traveling through and this place had a 4.8 rating so we decided to stop. The place is very attractive. They were out of a lot of things . Coffee grinder down. The food was okay but not great. Staff were not friendly. I would not stop here again.

came here on a sunday afternoon. got two smoothies and a pesto grilled cheese with tomato dill. the coconut blueberry smoothie was not the greatest. it was not the greatest imo. 4.5/10 able to drink but would not order again. the other smoothie was the orange creamsicle. this one was def better! prob a 8/10. just personal preference. the grilled cheese however was amazing!! so good and exactly what i was craving

Great breakfast spot! Crunchwrap was amazing highly recommend. We also got smoothies which we very unique blends. Staff was friendly and food came out timely. Has a sort of hip garden vibe, seems like a cool spot to hang out for a few hours.

Popped in here for a quick breakfast before hitting the road. This place is perfect! The space is so inviting and chill, perfectly decorated with some cool plants and trees, some of which are for sale. They were playing old school hip hop with Tribe Called Quest and Diggable Planets, fantastic vibe. The food was healthy and flavorful. We got the avocado toast which had some jalapeno kick and the cotija cheese. The breakfast burrito was awesome with sweet potatoes and avocado. Well done! Snagged a cold brew which was wicked good! Best part was they dropped in ice cubes made out of frozen coffee! Nice touch. This place was fantastic, highly recommend. Wicked good all the way!

Straight up delicious. Pricy, $23 for a sandwich and smoothie, but man I would go back in a heartbeat. Great place.

The cafe is a nice place to eat, with a comfortable, open space, and free wifi and easy device charging for those that use cafes for these things. The menu indeed emphasizes simplicity, and there are a lot of whole vegetables and fruits visibly present. Despite the large number of people working there, it is strictly a counter service business (whose tip options start at 20% and run up from there) where you clear your own table. My main reason for selecting this particular place was the option to order a salad for breakfast. I was offered tempeh or avocado with it and certainly could have ordered a pastry or something else, but I wanted a healthy start to a day which-like most days out on the town in Asheville-is likely to yield plenty of culinary indulgences. My vegan caesar was freshly made with torn kale, and while I am not someone who eats a ton of kale, when it's done right, as was the case here with the kale torn and the dressing savory, it's good stuff. A moderate amount of croutons and a bunch of tomato added variety. A tea I ordered came in a fancy-looking pot full of loose leaves (though it was only about 95% effective at preventing the tea leaves from getting out). It was good quality tea. In my search for a satisfying breakfast with plant-based ingredients and not a ton of added indulgence, this was a success.

Blueberry bowl (instead of acai) and an almond pastry

They were out of acai at the time I went and blended frozen blueberries to creat a similar bowl. It was good and so was the almond pastry.

I had just ran the Asheville Marathon and needed something healthy and Simple Cafe & Juice Bar was certainly delicious. The açaí bowl was great and refreshing! This is a cute spot for sure.

I tried this place for the first time this morning with the fam and it was crazy good! The Cocoa for Coconut smoothie, in addition to the obvious components, also contained almond butter, blueberry, and flaxseed meal, and was absolutely delish - I wanted to take home a gallon more. The Super Duper Açaí Bowl lived up to its name, exploding with fresh, rich fruity bliss and a satisfying granola crunch. The breakfast bowl featured a fantastic sweet potato hash served over a bed of verdant spinach leaves. I had them replace the vegan cheese with cotija cheese because, when you can get cotija, you must get cotija, capiche? But the super friendly, fun and helpful counter worker, Amy Rae, said I should try a bit of the house-made vegan cheese on the side and to my surprise, I didn't hate it at all, and could actually see myself ordering and enjoying it at some point. :) This is one of those magical places where you can eat healthfully, and yet still feel like you're getting that indulgent, scrumptious food fix that marks a truly great restaurant experience. And really, it doesn't get much better than that.

For starter, I got the smoked salmon hash, and that was filling enough and very fresh! I had ordered their Philly cheese steak with auju and it was sooooo filling, I love a hearty breakfast, but I could only finish one half. I ordered their local sausage patty and it was nice and Smokey and savory! The grits were chunky and cheesy which I really enjoyed, everything was great! Love it! My partner ordered a classic breakfast and their maple bacon is sooooooooo good, I told him he needed to learn to make it because I want more! Their fruits seemed home grown and I really appreciate their decor of sexy veggies on the way! Such a cool place to eat and hang out!

The menu is Southern creative. We started with the biscuits and gravy appetizer which might have been a mistake because I was almost too full for my entree after sampling it. The signature gravy was heavenly! We scooped it up with our forks when we ran out of biscuit. The coffee is excellent and we all enjoyed the fresh squeezed juice. (Those are important touches for breakfast.) the service is super friendly. Maybe could use a more extensive child's menu. I found Chestnut on Yelp and decided to wander in. The space has this elevated modern rustic vibe with a southern twist and a little bit of sass. They even sell shirts that say neither hoity nor toity, which cracked me up. Honestly, the atmosphere was great, but our waitress was the real star. She was absolutely phenomenal and looked after us perfectly. My palate was pretty fried, so I started with a Bloody Mary to wake up. Truth be told, it was just okay. The house mix had an odd flavor that nobody at the table could quite identify, and it seriously lacked spice. It was just kinda bland. I noticed a bottle of Firewalker hot sauce on the table, and splashing that in helped a little bit. After that, I transitioned to a mimosa. You really cannot mess up a mimosa too much, and it was a solid, reliable second drink. For the main event, I ordered the southern chicken and waffles. This came with a fried chicken breast sitting on golden malted waffles, smothered in sausage gravy, and drizzled with chipotle honey. It was a really great dish. The kitchen did a solid job with the fry on the chicken, and the gravy had a nice flavor. It leaned a little on the sweet side because of the honey, but it was not totally overdone. The real sleeper hit of the morning, though, was the side of cheesy grits. Those grits were absolute heaven. They were incredibly creamy and perfectly seasoned. If you go, you have to order them. Chestnut is in a great location, and despite the weak Bloody Mary, it was a stellar visit.
