I'm going to start this by staying I definitely would have had a more enjoyable time if I ordered something differently. I got the Ricotta & Lemon Preserved Pancakes for brunch, I'm allergic to strawberries so they were nice to give me five & grapes with it instead. Unfortunately the figs weren't ripe so it wasn't fun eating them and the pancakes themself were a bit dense with odd grittiness throughout. Just overal not pleasant but I could see that these could have been great. Everyone around me seemed to have a great time so I really think it was just me. I was disappointed that they didn't have anything to drink like chai or matcha, I don't drink coffee so I just went with a black tea. Would love to see the non-coffee menu expand! This place was so cute! We walked by it on our way home from a Sunday morning pilates class, and decided to get breakfast. It was still early in the day so the place was empty which was kind of nice. The space is small but charming, and there is a little shop where you can purchase candles, clothes, etc. The food was good; everything tasted fresh and had a lot of flavor. The sabayon on the French toast was perfect. The only "complaint" I had was that they only had whole milk or oat milk for coffee dairy options, but it wasn't a big deal. I've been to Simple twice and I really do love this spot. It's so special and quaint and the quality of the food is great. We got their appetizer dips, chicken tajine, steak frites, chocolate cake and crepes for dessert. There is a cute shop with hand picked goods for purchase (clothes, Perfume, kitchen ware) and a little bar next to their exposed kitchen. This is a cute spot and I loved that they had the windows open so I could dine "indoors" with shade while also still having lots of ventilation to not increase any covid risks for no good reason! The service was good and I enjoyed the Algerian crepes - they're not a huge dish so I was kind of hungry not long after, but I liked the taste and would probably get a bigger dish next time. The menu was on a QR code so we took some time to look over it while ordering a round of drinks. When it came time to order I went with their name sake Simple Burger. A decent burger with a nice side of fries. Overall this was a decent spot for lunch but honestly felt better for a morning coffee. I like getting brunch in Williamsburg periodically. My friend picked this restaurant because the pictures look amazing when we did a search. We came here on a Saturday afternoon around 1pm. It was a really cold day so it wasn't at its full capacity and we got seats right away. The services here were great however the food was meh. We ordered the French Toast, Algerian lamb sausage merguez and one of their special course which I couldn't remember the name. Portions are VERY small for all 3 dishes and they don't taste good. French toast doesn't taste fresh either. Also ordered latte, a beer and ginger lemonade to drink. The ginger lemonade is extremely sour.. I couldn't taste anything except how sour it is. Turns out that this young man was the owner and had recently opened back up. I have order several items off the menu to get a feel for my favorite foods. I never leave disappointed. Really special restaurant! The woman who owns the restaurant is usually there, and she took inspiration from her home country of France and Algerian roots to make the fusion menu. The place looks like a homey, cozy kitchen or dining room - feels like you are dining in someone's home. We started off with dips and bread which were delicious. We tried both the vegetable and chicken tangines which all felt like a home cooked meal. Very warm and flavorful. Cutest little spot. My girlfriend and I came here after a workout class on Sunday. Food was DELICIOUS. We got the shakshuka and French toast. Coffee was excellent. Service was friendly. As its name suggests, Simple has a rustic and quaint ambiance to it that is warm and inviting. I came here on a sunny Sunday and had a nice relaxing brunch here at Simple. The food while basic was intriguing and enjoyable. For example, the brunch dish I got was the Algerian Lamb Plate which consisted of just scrambled eggs, gratin, and of course, the lamb sausage (as well as some harissa). The scrambled eggs were cooked to be light and fluffy. It really was a pleasure to eat compared to the overcooked scrambled eggs I ate earlier in the week at my company's breakfast. The gratin was incredibly creamy and combined well with the eggs and the lamb sausage (which were fine. The lamb flavor certainly came through). The harissa provided some nice spiciness to balance out the gratin and egg. Besides that dish I also got an iced coffee which was fine. Went on a weekday evening - the inside is super cute and the food was stellar, but there was no one inside for some reason. Think brunch might be their big thing? Regardless, we sat down and started with some waters. I ordered the banh mi with spicy lemongrass chicken ($11,) and while I don't love spicy, it was one of the best I've ever had. It comes with two small sandwiches and some sauce on the side. Highly recommended. Also ordered a side of the cumin fries ($7,) which were equally delicious. Our service was a bit slow, but think because it was a slow night, they were bare bones on service. Totally fine. The inside of the restaurant isn't massive but there are plenty of tables I'm sure get plenty crowded during peak times. They also have a big window in the front that they open up for sitting when it's nice out. I'd love to come back on a nice sunny day for a drink soon. We came around 1:50 on a Saturday and were told we'd have a short wait but tables for two would be ready soon. Like clockwork several tables opened up around 2, they moved quickly to clean up all of the tables and get them ready for all who were waiting. They had a buffet option which includes: eggs, bacon, quiche, potato gratin, vegetable gratinée, French toast, salad, bread, ham, cheese,quinoa, quiche, croissants,yogurt, frontal and fruit for $24. The only downside was that the food from the buffet was a bit cold. My partner opted for the buffet getting the quiche, potato gratin, vegetable gratinée, bacon and eggs. He really enjoyed the quiche saying he really felt like he was in France it was very creamy and flavorful. He said he hadn't tasted anything even remotely close to the vegetable gratinée in US before this. After taking a bite myself I can say that it is absolutely delicious- the vegetables are able to shine and the crunch of the cheese on top is just a perfect combination. The steak was juicy and tender, the addition of the rosemary added a nice flavor. The potato gratin was even creamier than the one in the potato, every bite was delicious. The only cons The orange juice is not fresh- Tropicana It's so small that even with only half the restaurant filled it is still a bit loud. Overall 4 stars would definitely come again read more
