Long story short: Simple Plumbing came out multiple times and original problem remains unresolved. We were issued this company by Old Republic Insurance after the home we just bought had a leak and collapsed basement ceiling due to an improperly installed bathtub on the floor above. The tub's main drain & overflow drain were not correctly installed and thus leaked into the Sheetrock/drywall below said tub. The water quickly built up and causing the Sheetrock to cave into the basement. Simple Plumbing was dispatched by our home warranty company, came out hours late but otherwise seemed cool. He seemed to have addressed the leak, but would not fix the drywall until we got fans and dried the whole thing out (so we did). After testing the tub again, it didn't leak at first, but it did when fully filled to the point of testing the overflow drain. So Simple Plumbing had to come out again to fix that. During this time, Simple Plumbing kept trying to up-sell us while at the same time kept coming up with excuses as to why they wouldn't finish the job. Communication was dismal including them ghosting us at points. At one point, they came out and brought the wrong size Sheetrock. They also complained about a sagging beam (pictured), saying that it prevented the re-installation of the drywall, but then didn't want to do anything about it forcing us to get is addressed separately. After having so much trouble with this plumber, we called a different one to address a different issue. When we showed the new plumber what Simple Plumbing did, they said that their fix was *still* wrong (they used caulk to seal the leak, which is a short term fix and will leak again). AN UPDATE: Ovidio is upset about my truthful negative review about him and replied with a number of false statements, which is typical for him. HALF OF HIS REVIEWS ARE NEGATIVE AND REFLECT SIMILAR BAD EXPERIENCES FROM CUSTOMERS WHOM HE FAILED INTENTIONALLY. ALL THESE CUSTOMERS POINT OUT OVIDIO'S POOR WORK ETHIC AND COMMUNICATION (GHOSTING) AS WELL AS INTENTIONAL DELAYS IN COMPLETING WORK THROUGH THEIR HOME WARRANTY. THAT SAID, THINK TWICE BEFORE HIRING OVIDIO TO COMPLETE REPAIRS IN YOUR PROPERTY. First, Ovidio claims that the Contractor State License Board, where I filed a complaint about him, found him not at fault. What Ovidio isn't disclosing is that THEY DID FIND HIM AT FAULT FOR VIOLATING THE CALIFORNIA BUSINESS AND PROFESSIONS CODE AND SENT HIM AN ADVISORY asking him to correct his business practices and that future complaints may result in more severe administrative action. Second, he claims I tried all possible options for recovering part of my loss unsuccessfully. Because I suffered a significant monetary loss that Ovidio refused to cover despite being at fault, I tried to recover my loss without taking legal action against him. What he isn't disclosing is that the bond, for example, denied my claim DUE TO HIS NUMEROUS FALSE STATEMENTS AND ADVISED ME TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE IN COURT, WHICH I'M DOING SOON. Third, Ovidio claims I was impatient when I didn't wait for the warranty to cover the work that he was supposed to do. I WAITED FOR NEARLY A MONTH before hiring an external contractor. IT WAS OVIDIO WHO STALLED THE AUTHORIZATION BY MY HOME WARRANTY during that month. HE GHOSTED ME AND THE WARRANTY by ignoring our multiple calls and messages. Then, he shifted the blame on them for causing the delay. Fourth, Ovidio claims I'm an irresponsible landlord. Unlike him, I take my property and tenants seriously and do my best to resolve any issues in a timely manner. When the leaks happened, I was doing exactly that - working with Ovidio to fix them, which turned out to be an ordeal. Bottomline: Ovidio should look at the problem in himself instead of blaming his customers for seeking their rights. It's easier for him to shift the blame to someone else than to take the courage to admit his failure. Do NOT do business with this company...for many reasons. Had a plumbing issue, with plugged sewer line. After they dug up the front yard, a patio area, and then through living room tile floor AND the house slab, the issue did not resolve, and happened again just a few weeks later. Turns out the real problem was about 6 feet from where they dug up my living room. After I had already paid them out of pocket about $5,000 the issue persisted. During all this time frame, they frequently no showed, wouldn't answer calls, texts, and even stopped working one time, actually put down their shovels, unless I Zelle'd them the entire bill amount before the work was even done. And on top of this, said it would cost be $1,000 more than the original quote, because it was a holiday....despite the fact they had no showed twice that week already. Total scam! "Alex" the owner, AKA Ovidio won't answer calls now to discuss this problem. I have nothing good to say about this company after the stress/headache and problems that they caused and did not have the ability to fix the initial problem, despite multiple attempts. This company was sent by Old Republic Home Warranty. Please do not let them come to your house. Since he won't answer calls, I think my only option is to also contact the California Licensing Board, and probably legal action. Replying to your reply. Correct thats not pictured where you got the job done but when we started using the shower again it leaked from that area and the area you supposedly fixed. Yes i used profanity because your time management and communication sucks. The issues with the plumbing was always the valve you guys as plumbers suck since you didn't catch that. When you guys checked to see the problem you only turned the shower on for like a few seconds. Anyways a different company came and got the job done big difference in communication. They scheduled the appointment right away and came at the time they said they would. I explained what happened. They checked and were able to identify the problem. They showed me what they were doing throughout the whole process something your plumber didn't even do. When he finished the job your plumber didn't even turn on the shower to check it was done correctly. Overall you guys suck. read more

Our home insurance Fidelity sent Ovidio of Simple Plumbing end of December 2023, to repair our external sewage ejector pump system. Ovidio replaced the check valve and neighboring pipe, Fidelity covered some of the repair, and we paid Simple Plumbing $362.10 directly in addition to the $90. paid to Fidelity. Ovidio reported to Fidelity that he had "modified" the system, even though all he did was replace the check valve nothing modified at all, so we were unable to receive reimbursement from Fidelity for this $362.10 Worse, just six months later the check valve and pipe assembly Ovidio had installed blew apart. When we contacted Fidelity, and even paid Fidelity another $90. and asked them to have Simple Plumbing come back out to service their prior work, Ovidio refused to come back out. A new plumber Fidelity engaged, All Express Plumbing, came out and fixed the job Simple Plumbing had done, and told us that Simple Plumbing should have come out to warrant their prior work. I contacted Ovidio directly to discuss this with him, but his attitude was that I am a rich lawyer living in a wealthy neighborhood and should just eat the $362.10 he charged me and not expect follow up service. So, if you want an ARGUMENTATIVE PLUMBER who REFUSED TO BACK UP OR WARRANT HIS WORK in any way, by all means hire Ovidio. My suggestion is to stay away from this guy - and don't just take my word for it, review the pictures and screen shots of texts I have supplied, AND take a look at all the 1 or 2 star reviews Simple Plumbing has received and all the argumentative replies Ovidio has posted in response to complaints. read more

I hope to be able to upgrade this to a five-star review. There were multiple jobs schedualed to Simple Plumbing, from home insurance Old Republic Home Insurance, I'd say one out of three were done correctly. And like other reviewers have said the first time we were scheduled with Simple Plumbing we tried to find another company because the response time is very slow to Impossible on some days. But that is understandable if it's a one-person operatiom, on some days I can say it does seem Ovidio is trying his best. One of the jobs he did which was the water heater I do think he did a good job on it. The things that I hope Ovidio can make right, is that in changing the faucet head along with the garbage disposal, he pulled out the air gap and didn't sit it back right. It's popping out and it has never popped out like that before. He said he would fix it while we were there but he did not ever fix it. And now he's telling the insurance it was always like that, so the insurance is not doing anything about it. So that's crooked in many ways. This lying habit has also happened on another job Simple Plumbing did. We asked for help on leak detection because the tenants were experiencing a really large mold smell. Ovidio did not have any of the leak detection tools that other plumbers do have. Other plumbers have had something that looks like a metal detector, to detect if something is leaking under the slab, but he said it's not scientifically possible for things to leak under the slab without soaking everything everywhere, which is just completely false, slab leaks many times create small spots that is something anyone can research online. And there are leaks of many different sizes not just super large leaks. It was very ridiculous what he was presenting, He just came in and said, the tenants are obviously not aerating the carpet, when the tenants for 3 weeks had a fan on the carpet after the water heater had gone. There was another issue that was going on that Ovidio did not want to analyze and we had to find another company to figure it out. He just in 4 minutes said it's not scientifically possible for there to be a leak, when actually I had to send him proof that there are a lot of possibilities that he did not even try to consider. He just said there is no issue, just put a fan and that will solve it, when I kept telling him the tenants have had a fan on this area for weeks. So he didnt come forward with the tools to detect leaks, he literally did no Leak Detection work, said there is no issue and that it can only be solved by a fan. When The other company came through, lifted the carpet and actually found out that no fan would ever fix this because what the true issue was is that the padding under the carpet was coated in plastic. And was literally soaking wet as if the water heater had just wetted it one day ago because it could not access the air as it was coated in plastic. The only solution presented by the other company that actually figured out, could have been to replace the padding, not put a fan because the fan was not evaporating anything as it was just hitting a layer of plastic in between the carpet and padding. And we could not have discovered that without lifting up the carpet and doing some further actual leak detection and experimentation. He just in 4 minutes made a very quick decision collected the fee from our insurance and also made up a lot of lies to the insurance. He told the insurance that he looked at the water meter when he did not look at the water meter I was there right next to him and he did not look at the water meter. Which made it very hard for us to find another company to do Leak detection and figure out what's going on. I'm just mentioning that because I hope he can have the right mindset to refund the $75 for that false and not done work. And also to make correct other things that he has done including the sink air gap. So I just want to make everyone aware of a lot of crooked Behavior, as well as the things that have been done correctly in hopes that Ovidio can make these things right, make this company a better company, and hopefully actually help to make this world a better place rather than making things very purposefully difficult and worse for others. Because the tenants as well as me and my dad that I property manage for all feel very upset from what Ovidio has done on two out of three jobs. No one deserves that treatment and I hope Ovidio can make it right. read more

Ovidio saved the day! We had a minor gas leak so So Cal Gas turned OFF our gas. We identified it, Ovidio bypassed the leak in 113 degree heat over the roof; and discovered another leak. Ovidio ran new lines, bypassing the old ones and tieing into the appliances, again in extreme heat. Finally So Cal Gas came out to turn the gas on and their meter was not holding. They replaced the bad and meter and we finally got our gas turned on - 3 weeks with no gas. Other plumbers passed on this job. It was rough - but Ovidio stuck it out and got the job done. read more

Ovidio came out to see my water heater leak. Said He would let Old Republic know that I need a new unit, plus a pressure regulator.he said the water pressure was 600 psi. Hi water district checked it was 70 psi- with in normal limits. Old Republic home protection approved that.. but told me also was adding $589 extra for "other pipes that were necessary ". Stopped him and hired WS plumber- said Psi is only 65- you dont need a pressure regulator- just a new water heater and not all the other pipes either. Watch out for crooked businesses. read more

Otavio is a joke! This company is a joke! They came out (contracted by home warranty) to clear the mainline and when his sewer cable (snake) got stuck, he used an electric saw and cut it and left 120 feet of cable in our main line leading out to the septic system. We had an appointment with Simple plumbing between 9-11 to asses a gas leak at a hot water heater. I came to the home 10 minutes before 9 and left 30 minutes after 11 and they never showed up. I called and left voicemails. They never called me back. Later on in the evening they sent a text saying they had an emergency and couldn't make it. We then rescheduled it for 2 days later at 9:00. literally an hour before 9:00 they texted and said they had canceled our appointment. Horrible service read more
