Johnny Gonzales from American Plumbing & Rooter came to us after we'd had visits from 13 (no joke) plumbers, each of whom came highly reviewed and guaranteed they would get our problems fixed. Each of them was a disappointment - we had sewage flooding our guest bathroom for more than a month despite all sorts of expensive "fixes". Johnny was only sent out to do a sewer scope. Instead of hauling out his camera, he started by doing a thorough inspection of the plumbing system. Once he'd painstakingly mapped the system, he put the camera down our sewer, then spent most of the afternoon working on our property trying to diagnose the issue. Once he diagnosed the issue, he worked with our home warranty company to ensure coverage, then came back exactly when scheduled and spent the day fixing the issue. I was EXTREMELY impressed - Johnny was a star. Though we did not select this company ( our home warranty company did) I will insist on working with Johnny and American Plumbing & Rooter for all future plumbing issues. Our Old Republic home warrantee insurance put us in touch with this company when our water heater started leaking. The receptionist Hanna got us an appointment for the next day, and the plumber was on time and stopped the leaking. The old water heater wasn't reparable, so he wound up having to install a new one, which they got authorized by our insurance and installed within a couple days. They also fixed a couple of issues like the location of the shut off valve for the gas (which had previously been impossible to reach without removing the entire water heater from its encasement). We are very happy with this company. The technician was skilled and thorough, and we feel better having access to the shut off valve on the heater, (which should never have been inaccessible). It is suspicious that this company uses different company names, including American, Express and Action. The woman who answers the phone is unprofessional and likes to talk via phone (speaker phone - disruptive to those at home trying to work, etc.) to the plumbers when they are at a location, slowing them down. She clearly works from home, with screaming kids in the background. Her grammar is awful - "Our computer ain't go back that far." We have had a plumber from this office come out 4 times and still leaking faucets!!! Also, did not clean up well after finished the last faulty install of a new faucet. The plumbers are nice and seem to know what they are doing, yet 4 days later, the problem or another one reappears. So discouraged! read more

I got connected with American plumbing thru my home warranty. I needed service on my home due to possible water leak under my house. American plumbing confirmed for 9 to 11 am appointment on a Monday and confirmed that I needed someone to go under the crawl space and make sure they are prepared for that. They told me that wasn't a problem. Monday morning comes around and it is close to 11am and no one calls or shows up. I call the company and they said that their technician called out sick. So, when were they going to call me letting me know that someone was not showing up?! They said they were "just" about to call me.. anyways, told them that I took the day off from work to meet with the plumber so they need to send someone out that day. They said they can have another plumber come by the house by 11:30 latest. Re-iterated to the dispatcher making sure someone shows up knowing that they will have to go under the house via crawl space. She said it wasn't a problem. Now, it's past noon and no one shows up. I call back and they said the plumber ran into traffic so he should be at my home within 10 minutes. Up to now, I was understanding since things happen. The guy shows up and he reeks of cigar/cigarette and completely out of breath. I was not impressed. He checks water meter and says there is a leak. No duh! Even I knew that. Showed him the crawl space and told him to let me know when he's done assessing. He made comments about how he wore shorts that day and he drove all the way from south Orange County... (hinting that he wasn't happy about going under the house) Few minutes later, he tells me that there is no way he can fit under there. There is a pipe in the front that is blocking entrance. If he tried to over the pipes it will break.. blah blah blah.. Asking if I had an access panel thru the house. Told him, there isn't one. Told him I got some work done under the house few months back and all of the companies I worked with had no problem getting under the house via crawl space. He said he will "try" again to go under then. To no avail he comes back and says no he can't go under because it is an "access" issue and he will have to let the home warranty know about this. He told me that we will have to cut thru the floor or the wall to access the pipes.. at this point, I am furious and just wanted to get this guy out of house... so I took a day off from work to have his shoddy worker show up and not do anything. I contacted the home warranty company to send out another company that we usually get connected with for a second opinion. They sent out a guy today and he was able to get under the house and identify the leak, fix it and left. I will be making sure that we are never connected with this company ever again in the future. Complete waste of time! I can not vouch for the other techs that work for this company, but make sure they never send (Robert) to your house! read more

Ok so Cris came out today, and he was very professional and smart! I had a leak in my house, in the garage and the ground of my living room and guest bathroom, he came out and took look at no charge and told me that they will have to do a leak detection in order to find out! So when they did the found the water pressure was off, and need to be change and they also would need to re route the pipes, they also helped me understand what was going on! My warranty company sent them to UNCLOG and look at a trickle of pressure coming from the bathroom sink and Kitchen sink. That was last week. It has been a source of grief. First guy who came out was JOE. Argumentative and immature. He broke my faucet in the bathroom and now they are having trouble finding the part. They may replace but with a lower grade and different metal than the double sink (other faucet next to it). NOT ACCEPTABLE. He also said he unclogged the drain! NOT! it was backing up into the shower after he said he fixed. Then they sent out Jordan. He was able to fix that. Nice older guy and knew what he was doing. Now (1 week later) still dealing with them....to fix the faucet that they broke. I have had to cancel 2 days of scheduled things to be here all day for them. HASSLE and GRIEF. Oh and by the way, can't open lines up to Kitchen sink. Apparently it is Rocket Science. Each plumber has a different remedy and diagnosis. I had a friend who was a plumber come over to look at the sink (yesterday) and he said ..."all ya gotta do is..."....UGH! Easy. and then he asked, "do you know your HOt Water heater is dripping? looks like it is deteriorating". Do you know that 3 plumbers from Am Plumbing went back there to look at the pipes and NOT ONE OF THEM noticed. YIKES! You decide. But I don't ever want them in my house again. read more

I had a leak under my kitchen sink late last year and my home warranty selected this company. It took them FOUR visits to "figure out" the problem and install a new faucet. What they didn't do was also change out the garbage disposal. So after the faucet leak was fixed water kept appearing under the sink. The private plumber I hired after they "fixed" the problem said that he had no idea how any competent plumber with a flashlight could have missed the garbage disposal problem. It had rust and hole in the front. Any one looking at it with a light should have clearly seen the hole. I will not use this company again or let my home warranty send them to my home. NOT ONE PLUMBER I HIRED COULD FIND THE MAIN DRAIN. So the MickeyMoused all the other lines, and they would clog again in 6 months. So my main drain had never been cleared in 45 years. I called this morning, and was greeted by a personable receptionist who immediately made me feel welcome. She took all of my information, after which I was offered a two-hour window to estimate the price of lowering the flange so that my new toilet could be installed. So Jason arrived 15 minutes early and got right to work. After his diagnosis, he offered a cost-effective approach and was able to complete the job in a reasonable amount of time. I manage a property out in Norco, and we had an emergency situation this past Sunday, November 8th. The tenant called at 6:30 in the morning to report that sewage had backed up into her shower. I tried several plumbing companies in the area, and American Plumbing was the first one to actually answer the phone. Someone was at the property before 8:00 AM and was able to quickly clear the clog. The price was very reasonable, and I'm happy to have found such a great resource as I live out of the area. I called American Plumbing & Rooter at 1-800-970-2577 for some household repairs in Norco. I got a dispatcher who sent out one of their pros named Rick. I received a free estimate and an appointment time for the repairs I wanted. In my case there were unexpected repairs which arose at the worst times. I was afraid that the cost was going to get out of hand. I had rusty bolts that would crumble, grit that clogged hidden lines, and old connector lines that failed from the work being done. The final cost did not stray from the estimate. Any additional costs were based on unknown issues that couldn't be accounted for. I feel all of the work was done right and worth every penny. There was always a backup plan that made sense. I felt that there was no disaster that could not be dealt with in a timely manner. I had complete confidence in the quality of the work being performed and the tools and expertise that I hired. I don't expect any more plumbing issues for a long time but next time, when it's necessary I will call American Plumbing & Rooter again. read more

Of the 7 plumbing companies I called for quotes, American Plumbing was the only one with reasonable quotes... I scheduled a date, and they showed up on time and ready to go. I have to say that the two gentlemen that worked on my mainline did a formidable job, nonstop until the job was done. Water heater started leaking water everywhere! Called Jill and she had Manny here within the hour, on a Sunday morning. He stopped the leak and came back first thing Monday morning with a very reasonable estimate, and installed a new water heater Tuesday morning. There were a couple of obstacles due to the previous installation of the old water heater, but he dealt with those. The guy is very knowledgeable and has a great attitude! WISH THERE WERE ZERO STARS - Assigned by Old Republic - we called Old Republic for a leak in our closet (about 6 inches away from our shower wall). I was called by Alex the next day (Saturday). He said they could send someone out Monday or Tuesday and it worked out that they were able to come on Monday. The technician came and caulked around our tub, pulled the wet carpet back and said that if the concrete dried out after not using the shower for a couple of days, we would have a shower leak problem. If it didn't dry out, it was the ball valve out in the front of our house. The concrete dried out and we used the shower again. Then it leaked again after the shower. I called Alex back and let him know that we needed them to come back out and determine where the leak was in the shower and to please complete the repair. The same technician came back out on Thursday and re-caulked the tub and said they are unable to determine where the leak was without repairing the ball valve because they were unable to shut the water off because the ball valve needed to be repaired. I asked if they could shut the water off on the street and determine where the leak was coming from instead of having to replace the ball valve. (The ball valve was of course, not covered under the home warranty because it was outside the foundation.) Alex assured me that if we paid the $210 to replace the ball valve, they would be able to repair the shower leak. The technician came back out on the following Monday and had no idea why he had been dispatched back out to our home. He started to tell us there was another leak outside of the house in the front yard but didn't know where it was coming from. I was at that point, only concerned with the shower leak, not knowing what kind of damage was inside the wall at that point. We authorized them to replace the ball valve. He replaced the ball valve and then said we still had a leak in the front and that would require them to dig in the lawn to determine where that leak was. There was no mention of the shower and how/when that would be repaired and the technician left. He left the pipe below the ball valve leaking water out of it and our shower continued to leak when we used it. Alex called to tell me they would need to "expose areas of the wall in the bathroom to determine where the leak was". Now we are completely confused because we were told previously the repair of the ball valve would be the source to determine where the leak was in the shower. Needless to say, we feel we were scammed by this company to repair a ball valve for a reason unrelated to our original problem. Unless you are a cash paying customer, do not use this company. Clearly, they take advantage of home warranty claims customers. read more

First of they don't have a license to work on fire sprinklers but proceeded to do so anyway. Now I'm dealing with my insurance to restore my home. They didn't even apologize for their screw up. They came on a Saturday, gave me a very reasonable estimate and said they could get the work done right now. Gary was our the plumber he got to work immediately installing our new tub and showe valve, made great suggestions, and worked until it was perfect. Left instructions for the tile guy and came back 2 weeks later when he was finished and installed the trim pieces and adjusted the valve. I discovered a water leak coming up through the floor in my laundry room. I called American Plumbing on a Saturday and they gave me a one hour window for someone to arrive that day to check it out. An hour after the time window he still hadn't arrived so I called back. They told me the plumber had come to my house and no one was home so he left. I hadn't left the house all day and was basically watching out the window during the time window, so no one really came. The company told me they would check with the plumber and see when he would be able to come back to my house later that day. I never heard from anyone from the company again. read more

Dan came out and did a very professional, courteous, and thorough job of cleaning two clogs. He even reinstalled my garage washing machine tub for a very nominal charge, a job plumbers don't usually even do. I asked him to do that because I didn't want to get all dirty again. If you value your time, I probably would choose another plumber. We are pretty easy going, considering after they rescheduled on us three times I was still pretty okay with it until the lady on the phone started being the worst (by the way it was the woman working December 10th, 6pm that was awful - NOT December 9th at 5:45pm, she was nice and great. Not sure who is in charge of salary over there but if i'm allowed to weigh in, if December 10th lady is making more than December 9th, it's worth recalculating) Called for appointment for Tuesday at 6pm. Left work early to get home in time, they called and said they need to move to Wednesday. Left work early Wednesday to get home in time and 5:45pm they call and say they can't make it. They explain night appointments are hard to make so it's all up in the air. Totally reasonable conversation, I explain i'm not angry because they are coming later than they like to, she explains that she understands we are leaving work to be there and she will make us a priority the next night and if they aren't going to make it she will let us know ASAP so that we don't leave work early again. Thursday I leave work early again, 6:30pm comes around and I call. Lady basically says that there is no one coming and that she is supposed to charge us extra and she's not so apparently I am supposed to be grateful. I asked how most people with full time jobs get their plumbing done she says "well they take time off of work to make sure they are there". Once I mentioned that I did that three days in a row and if that wasn't enough for them it would've been nice to know on Monday and she was so defensive and terrible. Like honestly, terrible. As someone who has worked in customer service I don't normally yelp because I feel like if you have something to say you should just say it to the company first, but I did do that and she hung up on me. I know they probably think that people will always need plumbers so who cares about service, but there are a lot of plumbers out there and I'm definitely telling everyone I know about my experience. Recap: Postponed three days in a row, still nice when I called at first, was told I should be charged more and that if it's an emergency I should have put more effort into getting work off and then hung up on. If the lady that I spoke to on the phone no longer works there I would be happy to give them my business, as the other people in the reviews seem really nice. We had a leak under our kitchen sink and water was coming onto our floor. Our home warranty company called a different company first, who sent a plumber. That plumber said there was a leak and it was probably underground, but couldn't find it and said we needed a leak detection specialist. So, our home warranty company called American Plumbing. They sent out Joe, who arrived at 4 PM and didn't leave until 8:30. The guy was simply amazing. He simply would not give up! He worked with me to try several troubleshooting steps and basically followed the water to try and find the source. He wound up having to go through some drywall and pull out the dishwasher and was about ready to agree it was underground and that we probably needed to rip our cabinets out so they could further investigate, but then we decided to check the neighbor, whose kitchen shares a wall with our kitchen. Bingo! The leak WAS on their side. The neighbors were so impressed they hired him on the spot to fix it. At various points, Joe called a contractor and a water damage repair company to consult with them on how to best approach the situation. We will need to fix the water damage, but have contacts to work with- thanks to Joe. If we ever need another plumber, we will ask our home warranty company to send out American Plumbing and specifically Joe. Thanks again, Joe, for all the hard work you did tonight! read more

We called American Plumbing to clear a blockade in our main line. Although the dispatcher was courteous, we waited hours for Oscar, the plumber, to arrive. Once he arrived, he used a very small snake without blades to very quickly clear the blockage. He informed us that if we really wanted to solve the problem, we would need a $400 procedure called "jetting". He also told us there was a break in the pipe - although we have had a camera run down the pipe and there was no break. There was no warranty at all on his work, and he was here mere minutes. Three days later, everything was blocked again. We called American Plumbing, hoping they would stand behind their work. Oscar called us and we were told it would be $200 for the main to be snaked again. My husband told him forget it and that we would be contacting our attorney. A few minutes later, the dispatcher called back and offered to send someone else who had a "bigger machine" at NO CHARGE. We ended up calling another company, who had a proper machine, and they cleared the blockage for $50. The also guaranteed their work for 6 months. We will never again call American Plumbing. read more

i was looking for a plumber to fix the problem we had in 3 bathrooms after moving into our new house. i asked my grandpa for a quote, which i thought was rather high. i looked online to find someone to give me a second opinion. i was only available Sunday. 99% of plumbers dont work on sunday. then a came across american plumbing &rooter. i was greeted my a friendly woman over the phone who said that she can have someone come over on sunday. he even showed up 10 minutes early. he was nice to my cats and i could see that he was being alot more thorough than my grandpa. when he finished, we were talking numbers. he had a personal relationship with our "home warranty" company, and even called them for me to explain the situation. he handled everything. AND he charged 1/3 of what my grandpa was asking. his name was Manuel (Manny). very nice guy and very good work. the work was completed shortly after the quote and the work was clean, and didnt leave any holes in the wall or broken tiles. highly recommend this guy! good job Manny :) read more

We called out this company in an emergency when the toilets and tub backed up. The dispatch and courtesy was shown and a very nice young gentleman came out to the house and ran a snake through the roof vent letting us know since we don't have a two way main it would be the only way. He unclogged the drains, the toilets flushed and we thought all good right?... nope, only two days later the problem came back it just seems that it may have been a good idea to once you unclogged the drains to run it at least once more, grease the wheel good so you are SURE you got it. The excuse when I called was that it would NEVER unclog and the only way was to put in a two way main for $950.00 so they could run the big hose. I thought this was extremely expensive for digging a hole in soft dirt and putting in some PVC and since the house was not new in age but new to me I said I would shop around because I was wondering what the heck people did for the last 50 years the house has been in existence. They called back and said for $180 they could drive back over and snake it again through the vent- but wait... they had just told me it would NEVER unclog so I was very confused + I had already paid $240 two days ago. I said no thanks... so they called back a 2nd time and said ok for $120 we can come back. I felt they should have at least said to come out for free and finish the job... I did go rent a snake on my own for $36 and had my husband and his friend spend just a short time on the roof in the vent and they cleared the clog once and for all and it has so far held just fine. We are in property management business and in most if not all cases the vendor protects their reputation and finishes the job to ensure 100% satisfaction and keep the customer happy. I would not call on American Plumbing unless I had a huge emergency and needed 24 hour service. The rates are good, but protecting their image and going the extra mile is sub par. read more

extremely unprofessional company and their third party plumbers are even worse. my tenant has been without hot water for 4 days no thanks to american plumbing. ruben, the plumber was scheduled to be at property between 12p-2p on saturday...only to show up after 6pm. unfortunately the ruben could not repair and stated he needed to contact ge to order parts. had ruben or american plumbing honor the appointment time (to which american plumbing didn't even offer to send out another plumber despite ruben running 4 hours late) ruben would have had enough time to order parts. i was forced to wait until monday morning for ruben to order the part from ge. when asked if he could order the part online ruben appeared to not be familiar with using the web, which is an outrage in today's time. i attempted to expedite the process by ordering the part for ruben, however the model number he provided to the insurance company wasn't accurate. long story short, ruben contacted insurance company on monday and stated that the thermacouple was installed incorrectly (according to his observation on saturday!) and insurance denied the claim. it's crazy that my tenant with a small child and no hot water was forced to go 4 days without hot water because ruben doesn't have a clue. i'm not sure why he didn't report the facts to the insurance company on saturday. i would have purchased a new water heater on the spot. thanks ruben and american plumbing for absolutely nothing. big thanks to the women that answer the phone at american plumbing and did nothing but place ruben and i on 3-way calls. worse plumbing company ever! zero stars!!!!!!!!!!!! read more
