This practice needs to do better... I basically wasted a ton of time with this practice- I gave them my insurance info UP FRONT, Maria the receptionist insisted that my own PCP or Sleep Study doctor write a prescription for me to obtain an oral device in order for it to be covered by insurance. I thought this was really odd as did my PCP. I set up an appointment, drove all the way there- I really liked Dr Akkad, very personable and made some good recommendations. Another person came in and said you're out of network and there's not enough time to help you this year. I'm mad. I could have focused on someone who WAS in network but felt led to believe my insurance would be accepted from the start. It then pivoted to well you can be a cash pay customer... there's the hook- Clear to me they don't want to deal with insurance when they knew who my provider was all the long. I may act further on this with the state as I definitely felt misled, and this will end up costing me insurance deductibles with a provider who is in network. Be very careful providing them any information or listening to them getting a prescription from a provider. read more

Buyer beware. I use a cpap machine and wanted an alternative to it. I asked a lot of questions prior to making my appointment. My main concern was jaw pain from the position my jaw would be in all night. They told me there would be "very minimal jaw discomfort". Needless to say there was severe jaw pain and discomfort, even though I followed their instructions to a T. I called about my concerns and the lady on the phone told me that "the jaw pain would continue for the next 2-3 weeks" and to just keep wearing the device. The pain would only subside when my jaw was in the position the appliance put it in. It took a month of not wearing the device for my jaw and muscles to go back to feeling somewhat normal. I do NOT recommend this device to anyone. I would rather wear a bulky cpap then to go through that kind of pain again. read more

I called inquiring about their services, they called back to tell me there was no one in the San Antonio area and they weren't taking new patients. In the middle of me telling I just had a sleep study done the woman on the line hung up on me. Not very good customer service, kind of pissed me off to be honest. read more

I was not sleeping through the night at all when I decided to go to SSS. They got me in fast and went over everything in the first visit. I went home and did the study and they recommended the mouthpiece. It arrived quickly and I'm about a month into it and have slept full nights except one. The mouthpiece does take a bit to get used to but no big deal. I could not be more satisfied and the wife is happy too! Could not have gotten better service! I did go to the Fort Worth location. Easy in and easy out of their office. Great people all the way around! read more

What a rip off. I was told I could come and and be evaluated for Sleep Apnea, then if confirmed I could evaluate my options which would include their mouthpiece. Prices quoted $395 for evaluation, and $1200 for the mouthpiece. Upon arrival it was assumed that I had Apnea and that I would only use their device. First thing they wanted me was to fill out a form notifying my insurance that I 'refuse to use any device other than their mouthpiece," then I was to write my reasons and sign the form. In my opinion, this is dishonest, as I have not been evaluated nor do I know all my options. This is not a medical office, or clinic, but rather a carefully sculpted sales front. I left. I'll find a more reputable business. read more

The good for me: The staff is very professional and extremely courteous The "appliance" does reduce snoring The bad for me: My sleep study was a joke. My sleep monitoring device was completely defective. It woke me up with errors every 15 minutes the 1st night. (Yes I followed the instructions) I didn't even wear it the 2nd night. Somehow they still diagnosed me with apnea - with what data? The appliance took 4 weeks to be made and was excruciatingly tight when I went in to try it. I was told this is normal and it would loosen up. I've tried it off and on for a month now - it's still way too tight! For me, the "appliance" is a torture device that makes me feel like I'd been punched in the mouth every morning. The "appliance" leaves a very strong chemical taste in my mouth every morning The "appliance" gave me a bulldog under bite - most likely permanent. My "bite corrector" is a joke - a molded piece of something that's supposed to fix the bulldog bite? It just makes my mouth hurt worse for 30 minutes. However, I did wear it exactly as instructed after every night of the wearing the "appliance". The "appliance" requires the same care as a set of dentures. I'm not quite ready for that phase of my life. The "appliance" has a $760 replacement cost. You're required to sign a waiver when you pick up your "appliance" that says that Simple Sleep is not responsible for basically anything that happens if you wear it. I guess they either didn't manufacture mine correctly or this is normal. Either way the "appliance" is not for me - YMMV Good luck with your anti-snoring quest. Updating my review to provide as much constructive feedback as possible. I spent the last 10 nights in a row wearing the appliance and it's slowly starting to feel slightly more comfortable. Everything I've stated above is 100% true, but this device does reduce my snoring and is helping me sleep better. The only time I snore with the device in is when I sleep on my back. I confirmed this by using snore report (great app). Sleeping on my side with the device allows me to get a more thorough nights sleep. I'm still not fond of the care of the appliance or the weird chemically taste in my mouth every morning, but it is becoming slightly more comfortable to wear. If the comfort continues to improve it will be my go to device for snore reduction for now. read more

I have to give this place 3 stars due to the fact that everything was running smooth as silk and everyone is so friendly. I have to drive an hour to get the this location and after waiting for 3 weeks to get my device with so much anticipation, I go in for five minutes and after trying it on, the mouth piece is too loose and does not fit. Now I have to wait another 3 weeks to get it fixed. If it comes in on time and is fixed and works, then I will update my review. The third star is for the friendliness and how low the cost is with my insurance and the extra 3 weeks I have to wait. read more

My experience with Simple Sleep was fantastic. Very professional staff and my out of pocket cost was extremely low. The oral device has stopped my wife's complaining about my snoring. Plus I feel much more refreshed each day. Best sleep apnea solution out there. read more

The staff at Simple Sleep Services was very informative and they made me feel very comfortable. Did the sleep test through them and got my diagnosis, then picked up my mouth guard. I love it. I went to the Fort Worth office for initial diagnosis and treatment. After one follow-up appointment, the office closed and the company is not interested in providing any ongoing care. The course of treatment was somewhat effective but without ongoing assessment, useless. I guess I just got scammed. read more

Complete rip off! Stay away, even if your insurance pays it! I wish I listened to all the warnings and negative reviews. First off, if you have obstructive sleep apnea, this is a serious medical condition, and you need to talk to a trusted physician about getting a real CPAP device. My insurance paid Simple Sleep Services OVER FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($5,000) for the dental appliance that I will never ever use again. If you read the papers they give you, it may cause changes to your bite alignment as well as other negative things. I experienced jaw pain and my bite started shifting, and I vowed to never use it again. What a complete waste of money! When your teeth don't line up correctly anymore, you'll be thankful you listened to my review. read more

I sought out an alternative to CPAP because I didn't have sleep apnea, I wasn't feeling tired during the day but I was sentenced to sleep in the guest bedroom for as long as I snored. Simple Sleep Services gave me a pardon from the guest bedroom, I stopped snoring the first night I used the appliance! The entire experience has been perfect, the staff is well versed, the office is clean, and the doctor very knowledgeable. All I can say is if you are often kicked to the couch or have just accepted guest room as a permanent thing, check this place out, they may be able to help you too. read more

But if you go to a professional for help with a medical disease as serious as sleep apnea, is it that unreasonable to expect that they will explain your disease, and make sure that you understand all your treatment choices, rather than just caring about selling another mouthpiece? read more

Didn't realize how much my sleep was affecting my day to day. I never truly believed I had a problem but after my first week of wearing the appliance I knew something was different. I was very skeptical at first, but I wanted a solution to my snoring (like a moose), as my wife is a very light sleeper and desperately needing relief! My experience with Simple Sleep Services was amazing. Very courteous and professional staff at the Fort Worth location, and my out of pocket cost was covered by insurance, only co-pay required. My boyfriend snores heavily so we decided to give this a try. Here's what you won't hear during your consult: the device gives you an underbite. Such a heavy underbite in fact that they tell you to take Advil every 4-6 hours for the discomfort. You will be putting a piece of plastic between your teeth every morning to help correct the underbite. The talk of how you can close your mouth and talk normally is laughable. Technically I suppose you can but, you will be difficult to understand and extremely uncomfortable. The device keeps your mouth open so the dry mouth associated with it is awful. They don't give you instruction on taking care of the device until after everything is said and done. You are basically taking care of dentures. The best part? HE STILL SNORED. His jaw was sore and uncomfortable and it didn't do anything to help his snoring. The only good thing was that insurance covered most of it. Don't waste your time or your money. read more

Not worth it. If you have extreme sleep apnea and use a cpap machine, the cpap machine will always be your best solution, because of the continuous air flow into your body. This device WILL NOT (or any of the other very similar oral devices) get you off of your cpap machine. There is a simple test they did by pinching my nose only to be told I wasn't a candidate for their oral device. This was after their worthless 3D scan of my throat (I have had sleep apnea for over 15 yrs, didn't need a 3d scan to tell me I had sleep apnea) and meeting with the Dentist that makes the oral device. They do not even do sleep studies to show the effect of their oral device vs. cpap machines after the fact. As you know, a proper sleep study will monitor your sleep with/without a CPAP machine. If they really wanted factual information, they would do a sleep study with a cpap vs. their oral device on cpap patients. High probability the cpap has better results every time. Seriously do your homework and before wasting money on getting stuck with a paperweight. read more

I WOULDN'T EVEN GIVE THIS ONE STAR IF I COULD! BEWARE! WHAT A RACKET! My husband tells me I snore, so I made an appointment at Simple Sleep Services in North Dallas. I scheduled an appt. and they sent me forms to bring with me. They verified my insurance and told me I would owe $150 for the appt. and $150 for the appliance. I was told once I got there that I would owe $150 for the sleep study. I was very surprised how unprofessionally everyone was dressed. I was taken to an exam room and the young man asked me all of the same symptom questions that are on the forms several times. I don't have any additional symptoms other than snoring, but he kept asking. He took impressions why they don't do the impressions until after the sleep study. He said this way you get the device faster. I asked what percent of people end up not having sleep apnea. He couldn't answer. He said that a lot of people buy the mouth device even if the sleep study shows no sleep apnea. He said the device is 92% effective and I asked how they know it is working. He said your spouse tells you if you are still snoring. How scientific! He said that if you still snore, they adjust the device and you can have another sleep study in 6 months. The dentist came in and he was fine and took some more measurements. He said they would know more after the sleep study. The assistant then took me to the person who tells you about the at-home sleep study (another company in the same office) and I was told I did not qualify for insurance to pay for the at home sleep study based on my answers on the forms I brought with me. I said I was not told this in advance and I would not have come had I known this. They could have easily seen this if I had submitted my forms online in advance!! He said he could not advise me to change my form, but I could re-evaluate my answers. I asked if my form was different would I qualify and he said I would have to come back after insurance approved it. I told him I was not willing to lie on the form. I felt totally misled and will never recommend this place to anyone. If I'd been told I didn't qualify for the at-home sleep study I would never have gone! read more
