This is a beautiful restaurant, with friendly staff. Having been graciously able to have visited Italy twice, we were transported back, and loved being able to dine "al fresco." Again, we absolutely loved the ambiance. We're afraid we felt the food, however, was overpriced and simply not great. Pasta dishes are around $25+. I feel we were also wanting a few more pasta varieties and entrees on the somewhat small menu. Similar to being in Italy, you will not find "Americanized" classics like a Chicken Marsala or Chicken Parmesan here, but even "simpler" dishes like linguini and clams, or cacio e pepe are not found. My boyfriend had the lasagna, and I had spaghetti and meatballs. The lasagna was not warm, but tasty. My spaghetti was very hot, yet the meatballs luke warm. The flavor was good, the staff friendly and attentive, but I'm afraid we were hoping for a bit more for the price. As a local, it was not the favorite local Italian restaurant we were hoping for, but would still give it 3 stars alone for the ambiance. This is a real standout in the Flamingo Crossings area - Simply Capri has great food and ambiance. I can see needing a reservation on the weekends but we hit this place on a Thursday without any waiting for a table. We started with the eggplant appetizer - really thin eggplant slices with a nice tomato sauce with fresh basil and cheese. A fantastic appetizer. We split the Capri salad - a great blend of multiple flavors and textures in a chopped salad format. We had the seafood pasta, which has perfectly cooked seafood and al dente pasta. A fantastic dish! I know this restaurant bills itself as authentic Italian, but I didn't find anything special or unique about it that would suggest that. The food was just mediocre. We ordered octopus and meatballs as an appetizer. The octopus was flavorful and tender but the meatballs were lacking. They were a bit grainy, and the marinara they were served with needed more. It was a bit too tomato-y and not as rich as I was expecting. For dinner we ordered two pizzas, the capricciosa and the anacapri. One pizza was probably enough to split between two people, but we wanted to try two different ones. It was a lot of crust to actual toppings, but I did enjoy the chew and flavor of the crust. Parts were a bit burnt though which was disappointing. I enjoyed the anacapri much more than the capricciosa. The toppings on the latter made the crust underneath soggy. The pizza was yummy but not the best I've ever had. I've been to Italy, and this still doesn't compare. Service was great until we were done eating. When we finished our meals, our server pretty much vanished. It took over half an hour just to get his attention so we could get the check to pay. Menu prices are a bit steep in my opinion. I really like the interior design of this new, airy restaurant in Flamingo Crossings. The staff is very welcoming, and the ambiance is great. The menu offers a nice variety of upscale Italian fare. We started with the sauteed mussels and clams (which were okay, but could have used more garlic) and the tuna carpaccio, which had a marvelous lemon dressing on the accompanying arugula. That same fantastic dressing showed up on the Salad Capri, one of the best salads I've ever had. The combination of the slightly sweet lemon dressing and the bitter greens was amazing, as were the other surprising ingredients: banana peppers, melon, candied walnuts, and olives. We happened to go for lunch on a Wednesday, which is lasagna day, and the lasagna was very good. It seemed like something an Italian grandmother would make. Because it's in a tourist area, prices are not cheap, but I would definitely return for the amazing salad and excellent service. read more

I would have to say the outside appearance was very appealing, the inside eating area was beautiful and the outside patio was very quant and comfortable. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and friendly and explained everything, from the history of the restaurant to the food choices(& special menus they create & only offer on certain days, ex chicken parmigiana is a Sunday dinner offering) & told us that the staff/chef are from Italy(which I respect as I am Sicilian descent). When the wine sampler was brought out our wine connoisseur was very knowledgeable and described just how to drink the wines to see how they differ and what different notes you taste. I never eat others pasta sauce but theirs I absolutely enjoyed and am looking forward to having again. Every dish we ordered from the appetizer to the dessert was delicious! Busy on a Friday evening. We arrived around 6 pm and while we didn't have reservations, we were able to be seated right away outside. Note for future reference, ensure you have a reservation if you want to sit inside, especially if it's unusually humid and hot. Service took a while and our waiter was very apologetic. They were down 2 servers and, with it being Friday evening, they were busy. Food was excellent. The salad had a good variety and mix of green olives, toasted walnuts, spinach and radicchio in addition to just the right blend of vinaigrette dressing. The spaghetti was good and well balanced. The standouts were the smoked salmon penne pasta and the gnocchi (which was their special of the evening). The penne pasts had just the right amount of sauce and salmon so the salmon wasn't too overpowering. And the gnocchi was cooked just right and had just the right amount of sauce. Servers were all from Italy so they could speak directly to the makeup and balance of the foods served so that was a plus. The servers were kind and attentive, and a manager came by to make sure our experience was going well. We came specifically for pizza - and it hit the spot! We kept it pretty simple with pepperoni and a margherita, but the pizza was thin, woodfired, and flavorful! The crust was soft and I'd get it again for sure. We also had the Capri spritzes - their cocktail list was summery and very Italian. I loved how light they were and I'd come back here just to have a drink and sit outside! Simply Capri literally took me back to Italy. The food was so authentic!! Service was quick and on point consistently asking us if we needed anything. My friends and I shared some plates including the trio tasting plate. This included three different cheese. each on was amazing and paired with tomatoes and bread. We also had the carpaccio di tonno agli agrumi which was AMAZING. For our entree, we ordered the caccavella caprese which was a flavorful ravioli and the anacapri pizza. On the pizza we did substitute the prosciutto to pepperoni and it was literally amazing!! a few parties around us had birthdays and were celebrated in italian fashion. They also offer indoor and outdoor seating with cute decor around. Overall, I do wish they were closer to home but I will be making the drive again soon. read more

Wow! This place was so good! We will be going to Italy for the first time this summer so after reading all the reviews we definitely wanted to give it a try. We loved that some of the employees were actually from Italy and just the whole vibe of the place. Plus many of the ingredients are sourced from Italy! We decided to share everything and it was all wonderful. The trio tasting of cheese was a great way to try all of the cheeses. The Bufala mozzarella was from Italy and it was definitely different than what I've had before. However, the buratta was my favorite. The meatball appetizer (polpette capresi) was SO good. These are made with veal and the flavors were wonderful. The margherita pizza was delicious. The taste of the fresh tomato sauce was on point. For dessert we tried the tiramisu and the pistachio gelato - neither were like anything we had, had before. The tiramisu was so creamy and wonderful. The gelato flavor was amazing and reminded me almost of a Nutella or something, not a fake pistachio flavor. For drinks we had the Sorrento martini which is made with lemons from Italy- this was really delicious. My partner also had an aperol spritz, which he enjoyed, and the espresso martini. The espresso martini is apparently their most popular drink, but it was his least favorite. I will say, I've had better. They have so many creative drinks on their menu, I'd probably try some of the others first before that one. We cannot wait to go back and make this a staple in our dining routine! read more

Horizons West is a hike for me but I'll gladly come out here again to enjoy more of this truly authentic Italian goodness! Simply Capri is a fairly new restaurant that opened in the area of Winter Garden that's closer to Animal Kingdom. The area is newly built up, so I'm sure there will be more cool places like Simply Capri that will be added in! The restaurant is decorated very much like you'd expect a small Italian restaurant to be. They even had the iconic lemons that Capri and Amalfi are known for! The host was very friendly and got us seated for our reservation right away. We had great timing because maybe 15 minutes after arriving the place started to fill up for dinner. The sever gave us some backstory on the restaurant and walked us through the menu which had great variety! Starting things off we ordered some drinks. My husband ordered the Boulevardier which was akin to an old fashioned, and I ordered the Raspbellini which had Prosecco, Absolut, and lemon sour! So refreshing! I ordered the Pennette di Salamone (penne with salmon, Parmesan, and cream sauce), and my husband ordered the Linguine Alle Vongole Veraci (sautéed clams, linguine pasta, Calabrian peppers, olive oil). For the appetizer we shared a Parmigiana di Melanzane (eggplant parm), and for dessert we had Tiramisu and the Cannolo Bicolore (cannoli with pistachio cream). All the dishes knocked it out of the park! We were mostly surprised by the eggplant parm, as neither of us are huge eggplant fans but man did that appetizer change our minds! It's probably some do the best I've had in Orlando! Our pasta dishes were done very well and we left absolutely nothing behind to take home . For desserts, both dishes were light so they were the perfect finisher for our dinners! Of course you must have coffee with dessert so paired with an espresso martini and cappuccino, we were happy campers! We finally were able to try this new gem of a location which is super close to our home. Simply Capri is located in Flamingo Crossing Shopping area in Winter Garden. It is a beautifully designed Italian restaurant specializing in classic Italian dishes. They have seating inside and outside as well as bar seating inside and out. It is very beautiful. We came for lunch recently with our family. We were greeted right away and sat at a table inside. The first thing I noticed is how beautiful it really is inside. It is very bright and feels open with all the windows. The tables are a lighter wood with blues and yellows. We immediately felt as though we were in the Mediterranean. Our server came by right away and was also extremely friendly. He recommended his favorite items, took us through the menu as it was our first time. I really cannot say enough about how amazing he was. Very attentive and always friendly. Since it was lunch, we decided on just ice teas and water to drink and we all ordered our lunch. To start they brought us homemade focaccia bread which had a little drizzle of olive oil. It was very good and very fresh. I would have liked more of a dip for it, but they have some great appetizers such as burrata that would go really well. For entrees my husband ordered the gnocchi which came with sausage, broccoli and olive oil. It was really good, he loved it! It was also a pretty large portion which was nice since there was no side with it. My mom ordered the scallopini di pollo, Chicken breast pounded thin, white wine, lemon, butter, served with peperonata. She substituted the peperonata for asparagus. Her dish was also fantastic, so tasty and light and pretty healthy. I would definitely order this in the future. My sister ordered the Linguine alle Vongole Veraci: Sauteed clams, garlic, Calabrian pepper, cherry tomatoes, parsley, olive oil. I did not try this one, but she loved it. It did not have a ton of clams, but the sauce was light and not too heavy. She ate the entire thing as well, really enjoying it. My dad and I shared our meal. We started with the Polpette Capresi: homemade meatballs, tomato sauce, ricotta, mozzarella, basil, Parmigiano Reggiano. It came with 4 meatballs and wow; these were probably some of the best meatballs I have ever had! They were fantastic. The sauce was great, it had nice layer of cheese, really great appetizer. We also shared the Margherita Pizza: San Marzano tomato, fresh mozzarella, Parmegiano Reggiano, basil. This is the only issue we had but it was fixed. It came out a few minutes after everyone else got their meal and it was completely raw. The dough was barely cooked. I think they might have forgotten about the pizza and quickly tried to cook it but they should have taken a little longer to actually cook it. We did let them know, and the manager came over as well. I absolutely hate having to send things back, but this was raw, it was raw dough, we could not have eaten that. The manager and our server were both so apologetic and remade the entire pizza for us. When it came back it was so good, their pizza is light, crispy, fresh and it was fantastic. I actually dipped the crust in the sauce from the meatballs. I would absolutely order pizza here, but maybe ask for well done. We decided to order double espresso's and Delizia al limone: Limoncello sponge cake covered with lemon cream for dessert. They also brought us their homemade Tiramisu: Ladyfinger, coffee, mascarpone cream, again apologizing for the pizza. Both of these desserts were 1 million percent out of this world. They were so good; I honestly couldn't tell which I enjoyed more. I don't usually order dessert but I'm so glad we did. Overall, this is a great spot for family meals but also for a date night. My husband and I cannot wait to go back, maybe just sit at the bar, try some cocktails and more of their menu. We will for sure be going back to this new local gem! We have tried many Italian restaurants in Florida this is the closest restaurant to food we had in Italy. The restaurant was a little noisy, but would be good for a date night. They also have a nice bar area. We had the octopus and the meatball appetizers They were very flavorful. We also tried the special rigatoni bolognese , steak (slightly over cooked) and potatoes & the prosciutto and arugula pizza, everything was tasty. Some of the pasta is made in house and there other materials like the mozarella and the tomato sauce that are exported from Italy. The pizza is one of the freshest ones that I have tried. First time eating at this restaurant and let me tell me you it was like taking a trip to Italy. The hostess when we walked in was very helpful didn't catch her name but we asked for a table on the back side of the restaurant away from the crowd because we have a baby they quickly prepped us a table no problem at all. Quickly sat us down. The dinnerware was super clean and I'm super picky about that so that's a plus. The environment/ambiance was peaceful doesn't make you feel like your in a tourist area which is a plus after visiting the parks. Our waiter Adriano or Andrianno was the best very attentive service and extremely fast, the fact that he was from Italy it made the experience more authentic with our food. The freshness of the ingredients was amazing we definitely will be coming back for other food items!
