I went back to AJ's on Saturday and sat at the bar. Lauren is THEE BEST. She was helpful and patient with my indecisive questions about which pizza to try. I love my go to pizzas, but I wanted to try something different. I was torn between the White Vesuvio and the Mount Garden Veggie. She suggested I make the pizza 1/2 and 1/2. I took her advice and asked for a drizzle of hot honey on top as well. The pizza was DELICIOUS. AJ's never fails! I also asked her to concoct a mocktail of her choice that was tasty and she made a delicious drink as well and i cannot wait to go back and ask her to make me another one! OBSESSED with this spot! My husband who is a PA native says this is the best pizza he's had in Florida. We had done takeout previously and it was just as good. The ambiance inside is fantastic. The woman who helped me with my pickup order was very nice and patient. The counter is easily accessible and very clean. I love that they also have outdoor seating. My salad was very fresh and I love that they make their bacon bits fresh. The garlic nots were very flavorful and paired very well with the sauce. Here to rave about AJ's again! I've visited a few more times since their opening, and I've been impressed with their New York style pizza, their thick Detroit style pizza, and their apps! This visit I came to try their seasonal menu items and enjoy the Halloween decor - I love when a restaurant gets into the season! We started with their classic garlic knots, which always hit the spot. I tried the resting witch spritz cocktail from their seasonal menu, and it was delicious! It basically tasted like a fall aperol spritz, and it was perfect for the season. We did the sweet heat pizza from the seasonal menu as well, and the combo of jalepenos with the sausage and pineapple was the right amount of heat and flavor! Really different and really well done. Honestly such an awesome addition to the Winter Garden downtown area. It's very casual no frill open kitchen concept so you can see them cooking everything and how clean everything is! There is one bar area that you sit in front of TVs so you can watch sports and another bar area that you're sitting right across from the kitchen. There are several tables inside and a few outside. It is a smaller place so it gets super busy even for a Wednesday night when we went, The food come out timely (not super fast or slow) for how busy it was. If you're indecisive, you can put two flavors on one pizza! They are different styles of pizzas. I believe Detroit is their popular style here. Overall, highly recommend checking them out! Nothing but rave reviews for this place! The Winter Garden Farmers Market brought me to the area on a Saturday morning. For lunch I knew I wanted to try this place after seeing so many posts on Instagram. While there were people waiting outside, however you can sit at the bar and there were several seats available. The bartender greeted us right away and provided us with menus and water. I ordered a Hugo Spritz which was so refreshing on this hot day. We placed an order for AJ's Garlic *Nots and Tropical Reeves pizza. The *Nots and pizza came out quickly. The food was phenomenal. The nots were paired with the best tasting marinara sauce. The pizza had the most perfectly cooked crispy crust and I loved the combination of flavors of pineapple, bacon, and vanilla honey. The pizza was large and with 2 of us eating, we still had slices to take to-go. I really appreciate when owners/managers walk around greeting customers and checking in on them. This made us feel so welcomed. It wouldn't be a review here if I didn't mention that the bathroom is an actual party! Lights, music, and vibes. You have to experience it. We ordered a classic margherita pizza and requested some hot honey to go with it. Simple yet delicious! They do a thin crust very well, each bite had a nice crunch and chew to it. 2nd visit review. Now about 6 months after their opening, I came back to try AJ pizza again. This visit there were a few great things and some opportunities. We tried the New York pizza which came in a decent amount of time and super hot. We had the John pizza which is pepperoni and olive oil. It was flavorful with heavy on the amount of pepperoni which we removed most of them. The opportunity was the wait time. We were given a 45 minute estimate but when we were sat 40 minutes later,50% of the dining room was open so it appears we could have been sat earlier in a different section. If you are in the mood for some good NYC style slices, AJ's is the place to go. I live about 30 mins away and I happily take that Uber ride to cure that craving. My go to is the Hot Honey Pie. If you are in the mood for extra carbs, you can't go wrong with the garlic knots either. But what really makes AJ's special is the atmosphere. This is a new place in downtown Winter Garden. They advertise as offering New York and Detroit style pizza. For an appetizer we ordered the garlic knots. They were a bit salty but the sauce was great!! It left me eager for my pizza. We ordered the Thor, a Detroit style pizza with sausage and pepperoni. My wife and daughter ordered the Lombardi which is a cheese New York style pizza. The Thor comes out with the (expected) caramelized crust on the edges and is on a focaccia type bread. The sauce is fantastic and the crust was spot on! As a Chicago guy, I know pizza.... This is the best pizza I have had since moving here 7 years ago. Kudos to AJ's! We have been itching to try this brand new restaurant that is in our home town, Winter Garden. AJ's is your best stop for local pizza. It is so much better than the chain restaurants and we honestly cant wait to get back here again to try more. This is a newer restaurant to the downtown Winter Garden area. It is very close to Plant Street Market and has been opened for a few months. It is a very small restaurant with a few tables outside, a few inside and then bar seating inside. We went on a Friday night but tried to get there early to beat the crowds. Wrong! When we arrived, the hostess told us it would be about 20 minutes. We looked over the menu and walked around for a bit. They text you when your table is ready. It also was extremely hot, and there are no waiting areas inside. Our wait was very close to the time told to us. Once seated, we were given a table inside very close to the door and along the window. The first thing I noticed is how hot it was inside. Like insanely hot, to the point of uncomfortable. I think with all the pizza ovens going, it being so hot outside, the door opening and closing, it was just really hard for the AC to keep up. The restaurant is narrow and long. I did notice toward the back of the restaurant it was a little cooler but not much. They also have to go orders, and our table was right next to where the to go orders are picked up. This was also a little frustrating since they were so busy, there were always at least 3-6 people waiting for their orders, standing right next to our table. It was hard to really enjoy our meal with someone standing over me. Although, this is more of a politeness issue with people but I do think the table we were sat at, should just be removed and turned into a waiting area. The floor has a vast variety of movie posters and people/actors with pizza. I loved looking at all the different pictures. They had some really great music playing as well. Our server came over very quickly, and we knew what we wanted since we had to wait. We decided to start with AJ's Garlic Nots (Garlic oil, Grana Padano parmesan, served with marinara). These were so good, I literally could have eaten a ton of these. They were crunchy on the outside but soft on the inside. There was a good amount of parmesan and the garlic was flavorful was just right, not to overpowering. We also ordered the Meatball Trio (Beef, pork and veal, with mozza and fresh basil) These came with 3 meatballs and were beyond fantastic. They were moist, very tasty, hot and really delicious. Both of these appetizers I would and probably will every single time we visit. For cocktails, I ordered the Peach Bellini and the Florida Grown (Prosecco, strawberry, grapefruit, orange cordial) Both of these were really good, they were on the smaller side but they were only $10. I would have liked them to be a little colder as well. My husband ordered the Hot Topic (Grilled pineapple, sake, jalapeño, fresh pressed lime, agave, tajín) as well as a Sierra Nevada Hazy Little Thing IPA. He loved the Hot Topic especially the grilled pineapple and jalapeno. For entrees, we wanted a pizza. There are so many options but since we had 2 appetizers we decided to share a large pizza. We couldn't really decide and both of us wanted something different but luckily our lovely server let us know that we can do a half and half as long as the pizzas were in the same categories. We went with a NY Style pizza and chose half Uncle Roni (Loaded with cupped pepperoni) and the other half as a Supreme New Yorker (Hot calabrese, spicy Italian sausage, classic pepperoni, extra creamy ricotta). These were so good!!! We chose wisely! The cupped pepperoni were crispy and little spicy. They add a touch of garlic oil to the pizza as well and it just finished the pizza really well. I cant wait to get back and try more of the pizzas especially the margarita pizza. You also need to visit the bathroom. First it is all gold and there is a red button. If you push the red button on the wall, music and a disco ball will start playing. Its so fun! Party in the bathroom. I definitely recommend checking it out when you visit. Overall, I cant say enough positive things. There were a couple of hiccups with the AC but I would still come back. Their food is delicious! You need to add this to your list to visit! read more

Went their first week after the soft opening. We really enjoyed our lunch at the newest addition to Winter Garden, AJ's Pizza Joint (located across the street from Thai Blossom). We did a traditional pepperoni and a build your own white sauce with prosciutto and chili roasted pineapple (don't come at me for the pineapple please ). Everything was delicious. Our bartender, Kara was fantastic and we loved the decor. The bathroom was the funniest part! We met one of the owners AJ and he was a very nice man. Smaller place so may be hard to get a seat. One of the hostesses was on the ruder side but the other two were sweet. 4/5 out of all! We are happy to have a new place to eat at! It is a little pricy but it's worth it. read more

We happened to walk by AJ's while looking for a place to have dinner and they were having their Family & Friends soft opening and had space at the pizza counter for us! It was actually a great place to sit as we were able to see all the food coming out of the kitchen. We were very impressed with the finishing touches that were put on each item. For example, for the NY pies, they get a swipe of garlic oil around the crust and FRESHLY grated Parmesan cheese. The Detroit pizzas get finished with the signature lines of tomato sauce and then the grated cheese. We started with a couple of cocktails - Bellini and Hugo Spritz. Both were made with Prosecco as they only serve wine based drinks (Prosecco, sake, etc) in addition to beer and wine. My Hugo Spritz had Prosecco, elderflower and mint and was very refreshing. Next we got mozzarella Caprese and it was delicious with nice toppings of tomato, basil, and olive oil. For our pizza, we chose the Veggie Detroit style pizza, which has roasted tomatoes as the only veggie. I had never had Detroit style pizza but it's like a cross between a Sicilian, with the thick square crust and Chicago, with the sauce on top. It was fantastic and very filling. We saw quite a few NY pies pass by us, with lightly charred crusts and definitely want to come back to try those. Service was great, too, and very friendly. AJ's Pizza - Still Our Favorite Spot! This was our third time visiting AJ's Pizza, and once again, it did not disappoint! Yes, it's always crowded (for good reason), but the service and food are worth the wait. Last time, we were told it would be about a 45-minute wait, but the hosts kindly offered us seats near the pizza-making area, which was ready immediately. It's a little warmer over there, but honestly, it turned out to be a great experience--we got to watch the team in action making the pizzas by hand. Our server, Matthew (I believe that was his name), was attentive and friendly. I also had a chance to chat with JC behind the counter, which was a pleasant surprise--he used to be at a different pizza place I used to frequent, and I'm so happy to see he's part of the AJ's team. JC is truly a gem. I've never seen a cleaner kitchen than his. Knowing he's behind the scenes here makes me trust the place even more. We ordered two large pizzas for the three of us--yes, a lot of food--but we knew we'd want leftovers for the next day. Both pizzas were absolutely delicious: the crust was perfectly cooked, the flavors were on point, and everything tasted fresh and balanced. One small tip: they offer garlic at the table, but it's garlic salt, not garlic powder. I made the rookie mistake of sprinkling it on my first slice and it turned out very salty. Definitely try a bite first before adding anything--lesson learned! Also... don't miss the restrooms! Press the button. Trust me. Probably the coolest bathrooms I've ever seen in a restaurant.
