We happened to be lucky enough to be spending a couple of days close to this gem of a coffee shop…read more We stopped in the first day because I heard someone in the lobby of hotel mention she was enjoying a Peanut Butter & Jelly Latte from the shop nearby. We walked over and we were so glad we did! By PB&J Iced Latte was so good! The cold foam on top was so yummy and the drink really did taste like a PB&J. The Iced Chai was also delish! It was spicy and not overly sweet. We stopped by before we left town the next day - for one more PB&J Latte, another Chai as well as the Blackberry Lemonade and a few baked treats for the road. The Blackberry Lemonade was a fun drink - icey and refreshing! (It was pretty sweet, but also tart - really good) The staff were SO welcoming (especially the sweetest baby ever at the register ) Everyone behind the counter was smiling and actively working which is why our drinks were ready fairly quickly both days despite the crowd. The shop had fun little gifts and stickers which tempted us while we waited. We were happy to see so many Gluten Free treat options - they were all individually wrapped which made them even safer for our son with celiac. This is a great place - we will definitely stop in next time we are in the area!

The husband and wife team do a fantastic job from top to bottom here. Coffees, teas and drinks galore with tons of variety. Every drink we've had has been fantastic. And the food options are plentiful as well. Not just your typical bakery items, but a full menu with savory options, wraps, bagels, sandwiches, you name it. My all time favorite here...the piled high turkey club on an everything bagel. You can't take small bites on this one. Full of flavor, fresh and delicious. If you have time, make a morning pit stop here. You won't regret it.

Cocktails were perfect. Main course of tuna schnitzel, yes schnitzel was outstanding. Cooked to perfection. My wife had halibut with broccolirabe and grits. The fish was tender and the sauce outstanding. We finished off the evening with homemade peach cobbler with blueberry ice cream. We frequently come here to get oysters and a couple of drinks and always end up staying for dinner. Menu changes about every three months with focus on local ingredients.

We ended up coming to eat dinner here twice, in two days (vacation was over after that). The name should probably say "bistro", instead of cafe and catering, to give the correct description of this restaurant. The ambiance inside (and the food) gives you a "bistro feel"- but we sat outside at a picnic table both nights because we brought our dog with us! The staff both nights was very friendly, with the entire team pitching in to bring you drinks and food, and checking on you. The cocktails at this place were unique, and well-constructed; my favorite was similar to a tart pisco sour!! They also have a wine and beer selection. For dinner, one night I ordered the steak of the day, which was ribeye, served with asparagus and potatoes. The steak was cooked perfectly, and was both juicy and tender. The second night I ordered the pasta of the day, which was casarecce pasta served with clams. The pasta was 10/10- the noodles were cooked al dente, the sauce was thick and flavorful, and nestled into each noodle really well. We also tried the snow crab and the NC oysters off the seafood menu, and the chocolate banana milkshake and the strawberry cloud/meringue off the dessert menu. All of those items were delicious (the strawberry dessert was my absolute favorite and I got it both nights). Really nothing but compliments to say about this restaurant! Every dish is flavorful, well-seasoned, and cooked nicely. Highly recommend and would definitely go again if I am ever back in Banner Elk!!

Additionally, when we entered, we kindly asked what the wait time would be. The person working at the front desk impatiently told us that she did not know, and sternly told us to turn around and to write our names down, without a smile or any eye contact. Our server was quite nice and friendly herself, and brought out the food in a timely manner. The food was quite mediocre, and the omelette was undercooked and very greasy. Quite disappointed.
