I have been riding past Simply Crepes on Oberlin for months now, wanting to stop in. Had a fasting doctor's appointment and thought I would stop for breakfast to treat myself and take my breakfast meds afterward. Boy, was I glad I did. It was an outstanding experience--great food, a nice atmosphere, attentive service, and reasonably priced. Since I was by myself, I sat at the counter. Vasile M. was my server, and he gave me excellent attention. It was nice chatting with him--the benefit of sitting at the counter. Since I love breakfast sausage and wanted crepes (you can't go to Simply Crepes and not have them), I ordered the Maple Sausage Stackers--crepes topped with whisked eggs, NY maple sausage, cheddar, and applewood bacon cream sauce. They were delicious. I had Jamaican Me Crazy Coffee and water to drink. The coffee was a very nice blend for a late breakfast, with and without half & half. The water was refreshing. The restaurant is very nicely designed. The interior strikes a very deliberate balance between French country charm and a modern neighborhood café aesthetic--and it works. The restaurant is fully accessible with gender-neutral restrooms. It was drizzling when i dined; however, they have a nice patio area that is very appealing. I most definitely will be back. Simply Crepes Homespun Kraft Kitchen is located in the Shoppes of Oberlin. Parking is available in either the parking garages or spots in the parking lot. It is a busy location, so reservations are recommended, especially on weekends. The decor was well thought out and provided a comfy atmosphere for brunch. They were going for a French country theme. The Oberlin location has a private room available for events. The open kitchen and high ceilings were nice, and the regular dining room was open. The large windows provided a lot of natural light, so I could read the menu without my reading glasses. It seemed smaller to me than the North Raleigh location. But this location had the bar seating, tables, and there were a few areas that seemed like couches near the windows. I'm not sure if there is outdoor seating at this location. I ordered the Coco Mango, which was a concoction of mango, coconut milk, vanilla creme, lime, and toasted coconut. It came looking great, and my taste buds just loved it. The flavors went well together. I decided not to order a crepe this time and went with the French toast. It was Texas style brrioche bread, and came with butter, New York State maple syrup, the real stuff, and I added a berry compote. I also added two scrambled eggs and the portion of those were great and cooked well. I liked the French toast and the maple syrup. But wasn't a fan of the berry compote. It was more like a jam as you had to spread it, and I expected something I could pour with a more liquid consistency. I wouldn't order the compote again. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive, and she refilled the beverages of those who needed them. Payment is taken at the table, so your credit or debit card never leaves you. So, I'd probably give this place a 4.25 if I could but I tend to round up instead of down. We were in the area overnight and this was an easy drive from our hotel before getting on the road. Arrived around 11:30AM on a Saturday and the place was BUSY. I recommend reservations based on what I saw but my group of 3 was able to get seating at the bar, which has full menu service. Bartender was friendly and even made a little small talk which was nice. We didn't have drinks since we had a long drive ahead of us but all the drinks and flights being sent out looked delicious. The food was good. I had French Onion soup which was a little on the thick side and slightly saltier than it needed to be. Not bad enough to send back but I probably wouldn't order it again. The crispy red potatoes were yummy! Husband had the Rumchatta Banana French Toast which was delicious but could have been a little hotter. His side of eggs was perfect. Goddaughter enjoyed her stacked biscuits and gravy. Huge portion. Decent prices. The space was clean and decorated cute. We'd come back with a reservation if we lived in the area. read more

We visited Simply Crepes in Oberlin to celebrate my dad's 64th birthday, and overall, it was a really enjoyable experience for our entire family. From the moment we walked in, the staff was warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind, including the bar staff, who took the time to interact with my three young kids. That level of friendliness really stood out and made us feel comfortable right away. Our server, Liam, was fantastic. We were a party of nine, and he was attentive, patient, cheerful, and very organized. He repeated orders to make sure everything was correct and kept checking in to ensure everyone was taken care of. He had great recommendations and maintained such a positive, calm energy throughout the meal. Truly a great server. The food was a big highlight. Everyone enjoyed their meals, and I loved that they have a kids' menu, which I didn't realize beforehand. The kids' options were simple but perfect; crepe pancakes, grilled cheese, chicken nuggets, etc. I also appreciated that substitutions were allowed (we swapped fruit or potatoes for chicken nuggets), which made it easy for my kids to enjoy their meals. All three of my kids were happy. I ordered the Crème Brûlée Oatmeal, which is on their "Not to Miss" section, and wow . It was comforting, flavorful, not overly sweet, and absolutely worth ordering. I rarely order oatmeal when I eat out, but I'm so glad I did. The presentation was beautiful, and I loved that it came with a full strawberry instead of pre-sliced fruit. I also had the breakfast tacos, which were excellent. The crepe-style wrap worked surprisingly well, and the honey hot sauce was the perfect balance of sweet and heat, flavorful without being overpowering. Other dishes at the table looked amazing too, especially the grilled cheese with tomato bisque, which screamed comfort food and is definitely something I'll order next time. The burger also looked great. We ordered two boozy coffee flights, which unfortunately were the one miss for us. Even after stirring, they tasted watery and lacked the richness we expected. That's the main reason for the 4-star rating. I tried the Affogato (coffee dessert), and honestly, I'd come back just for that. Coffee, ice cream, nutella, chocolate... absolutely delicious. It's another "Not to Miss" item and perfect even as a dessert stop later in the evening. I also love that they're open until 8 PM, which makes that possible. The restaurant itself was clean, comfortable, and family-friendly. The bathrooms were individual and clean, which I appreciated. The overall vibe is cozy and welcoming; great for families, brunch with friends, or even a casual solo visit. During the first visit we tried the Thai curry crepe (chicken), chicken cordon bleu crepe and the poutine .. we were mind blown by the Thai curry crepe and the poutine it was super saucy and great portions. So we went back but tried the other location got the Thai curry crepe and the poutine again but and a chicken tarragon crepe ! While the taste of everything was on point, we were disappointed with the amount of sauce on the crepe (Thai curry) the chicken was dry and overcooked too while the poutine was a smaller portion in comparison with very limited sauce on it. We did ask for additional sauce that they did give but the kitchen seemed unhappy about it. Regardless we will be back but probably stick to the north Raleigh location The service is always great, quick and efficient love the vibe of the place too. They have a very interesting boozy coffee and drinks menu which I would love to try when I'm consuming alcohol again There's indoor as well as outdoor seating. Had a wonderful breakfast with my husband. They were able to accommodate us as a walk in but they take reservations, so I would recommend making one if you can. The place is quaint and lovely. Had reservations for Sunday brunch. We were seated quickly but waited almost 10 minutes for anyone to take our drink order. I ordered the build your own omelette with feta and three veggies. It came without any feta, which I had paid an extra $2 for. They offered to bring it on the side but I asked them to just take the $2 off my bill. Our waiter was friendly but not good at noticing empty beverages as they sat empty for a long time before we waved him down. Amazing breakfast!!! Everything is made from scratch so they are very accommodating. We tried an omelet, a crepe, and a biscuit. All was amazing with some special touches, such as real whipped cream for the crepe, seemingly homemade berry preserves for the biscuit. We were there at 8am on a Sunday and expected it to be crowded based on other reviews, but it was nearly empty. I'm sure it will get crowded later, and if you have to wait a bit, don't worry; it is worth it. We might even come back tomorrow. This was our first time at this restaurant. Three stars from us due to issues with my food allergy and it being pretty expensive. I called the day before our arrival to speak with a manager about the menu as I have food allergies (gluten and soy). When my omelette came out, it had clearly been made with some sort of oil so I asked the server to double check with the kitchen. She came out a few minutes later and apologized while stating that there was soy used. They remade it without the cooking spray. I would've appreciated a discount or comp on my meal since I would've become very ill had I eaten when I was served, after disclosing my allergies twice. My corrected omelette consisted of three eggs, a slice of cheddar cheese, and a sprinkle of goat cheese and it cost me $13.50. read more
