Unfortunately, our experience at this restaurant was very disappointing. From the moment we arrived, the person who greeted us was not welcoming and seemed uninterested in assisting us. It took several minutes just to find us a table. After being seated, we waited more than 20 minutes for someone to take our order, but no one ever came. We also noticed several other tables with customers waiting for service as well. Meanwhile, some employees appeared to be chatting with each other instead of attending to guests. At that point, we decided to leave because it was clear that service was not a priority. Good customer service is essential, and unfortunately, this experience did not meet even basic expectations. We originally came to Lafayette plaza to visit another establishment, however I was quickly outvoted by the fam while walking around that they were in the mood for crepes which led us to Simply Crepes. This warm chic country vibe was inviting and homey and had a typical bustling brunch crowd you'd expect on a weekend morning which is always a good sign. After browsing the menu, we decided on the Crepe Madame, Breakfast Burrito Crepe, Maple Sausage Stackers, and the RumChata Banana French Toast. Their coffee selections also looked way too good to pass up, so I indulged on their Lavender Oat Milk Latte. Yummy is an understatement, it was absolutely divine. Between all of our choices, which were all very delicious, the star of brunch was undoubtedly the French Toast. Those caramelized bananas took it over the top and elevated an already fantastic dish. One of my fav crepe places in Raleigh! My husbands first time experiencing a savory crepe he generally sticks to his Nutella nanaberry ones. We got the Thai curry crepe with chicken, cordon bleu crepe and a side poutine. The Thai curry crepe was the star of the meal, so flavorful chicken cooked perfectly with the crispy wontons chips for the perfect crunch. The poutine also was yum super crispy potatoes with ample gravy and cheese for each bite! Was wondering how the cordon bleu would be served, it's a whole deep fried crepe which was a tad bit salty just like the server said it would be idk why they wouldn't fix it if she was aware of it too, it felt a little dry but she did bring us extra Alfredo sauce for it when we mentioned it. Loved the vibe of the place, there's ample seating options, dining area/ bar/ as well as outdoor. While there is limited parking we found a spot since it was a weekday afternoon. My wife and I recently tried this restaurant when we were in Raleigh and it was just fabulous. The hostess seated us very quickly and within a matter of moments water was on the table and orders were being taken. Service was outstanding. I really liked the setup of the restaurant decorations and creative ambiance of France. The real star of the show is the food. I had the Cuban sandwich with the plantains which were fried to perfection. And I had a slice of French toast which is one of the best French toasts I've ever had. Crunchy and moist with real maple syrup. This was a wonderful experience and next time I'm in Raleigh I will be sure to go back to enjoy another culinary delectable. read more

My first time at simply crepes - I was really craving a breakfast crepe and I don't visit Lafayette Village nearly as often even though it's so convenient in North Raleigh. Tons of good parking in this area but it is busy basically all the time. I started with the iced shaken espresso latte which was pretty good. Then we got the beignets, which oh my gosh, these are the best beignets I've had outside of New Orleans. Well worth $10. I was debating between the crepe Madam (like a Croque madam) and the huevos rancheros. I ended up going with the huevos rancheros even though I was skeptical of the pork. I was pleasantly surprised! The pork was seasoned well. Personally, I would not have minded if it was a little spicy but I get needing to appeal to all palettes. I will definitely try the crepe madam next time. We sat outside, which was nice, and our server was very attentive. Overall, around $35 for an iced coffee, half an app, and a hearty breakfast crepe, which I think is extremely reasonable for Raleigh. read more

I have resolved to never visit again and when this restaurant is mentioned I make sure to speak up and tell my tale of woe and ineptitude. 1/ slow service / insufficient staff. After giving our order, we waited 45 + minutes for our entrees. I timed it. The food sat ready on the counter for several customers. Consequently, when our food arrived it was luke warm. It wasn't just us , we saw other tables wait for a long time. 2/ luke warm food. see above. again, not just us. 3/ poor tasting savory entrees. The cook is imaginative. the dishes are unusual combinations of ingredients that you wont see at other restaurants. this is because the ingredients dont complement each other. The Rugby crepe : the luke warm , over cooked shaved beef with lettace does NOT combine well with a soggy room temperate crepe. The desserts are good though. 4/ poor service. Our wait staff forgot our drink order two visits in a row and forgot silverware as a norm. again not just us. neighboring tables also didnt get silverware. 5/ crumbs on the tables from prior diners. Watched staff wipe a table and leave crumbs . Matched the left over crumbs on our table. I gave this restaurant 2 stars due to the yummy dessert. read more

After being seated, everything was great with our server. Sadly we both wanted the breakfast sandwich and were told they did not have any toast and couldn't serve it. This restaurant is beautiful and comfortable. I attended a baby shower held in a private section reserved just for the event, which made the experience even more special. The food was catered and served buffet-style. We had strawberries and cream crêpes, breakfast sandwiches, chicken and "waffles" (crêpes), bacon, and fruit salad. Everything was delicious! The chicken and "waffles" dish was a bit unusual, especially for a buffet--it consisted of chicken tenders and bacon served over crêpes, with syrup on the side. Still, it was enjoyable. We placed our food order which didn't come out for another 40 mins. While we were waiting, I noticed many of the tables outside were not cleaned up after people left, resulting in napkins and garbage blowing everywhere. The food was just okay. The sad thing is the wait staff was very kind and you could tell they were overworked. So I do not blame the wait times on them. We were seated fairly quickly and then had 4-5 servers ignore us for about 10-15 minutes until I finally had to flag someone down. She was very nice, but the fact that we had to flag someone down did not make them more attentive to our needs. It took another 25 (!) minutes for me to get my (average) latte. And then at least 60 minutes for us to get our food. We watched as food sat on the counter for so long, all servers ignoring it. We were greeted warmly upon arrival. I was surprised by how empty the restaurant was at lunchtime on a Wednesday. There was approximately five tables occupied: we ordered and our drinks came in a reasonable amount of time. My Bloody Mary was delicious as was my friends mojito flight. After a very long wait we got our mains. I touched my potatoes and they were room temperature. After I did that my friend thought it was because our food was sitting on the counter for a long time before we were served. Then I cut into my burger before the waiter left and my burger had too much pink for it to be medium well. She took back my meal to make another one. After a long wait I got my meal, it was perfectly hot and cooked to my liking. It was delicious. My only comment would be there was a drop of aioli on the bun, I would have liked more on the burger or perhaps a ramekin on the side. Terrible customer service and lack of accountability.My family and I stopped in to try Simply Crêpes (8470 Honeycutt ) but we were extremely disappointed by the poor management at our table.Here is what happened:The Order: We started with two mimosas and an appetizer, then ordered our entrees.The Mix-up: After waiting 20 minutes, we watched our food get delivered to a completely different table. The food runner immediately realized the mistake and addressed it with both the manager and our server.Lack of Apology: Our server came over to re-confirm our order, and we pointed out that we had seen our food given to others. Neither the server nor the manager apologized for the error.Dismissive Attitude: When the server returned to say it would be "a couple more minutes" which we knew was inaccurate after 20+ minutes. we asked for the check. The server had an attitude( probably hot due to AC not working properly), still without offering an apology, and the manager never came to speak with us. Management, please do better. If I could give 0 stars I would. I was invited out to the Lafayette village location by their catering team with my Bottles & Brews Mama group. I was emailing back and forth with them to confirm how many people, correct dates & how many high chairs we'd need, etc. I verified the night before and they said we were all set and ready for us for 11am. One of the ladies in my mama group got there early and the servers had no clue we were going to be coming in. Nothing was set up or prepared for us. I was a few minutes behind (I got there around 10:45) and I called Amber who I was emailing back and forth with and she confirmed we were on the calendar and they should have been ready for us for 11AM but their staff were clueless. Once I got there, I had to direct the server on how to set up a table for us. We weren't seated until 15 minutes AFTER 11. I had to ask if our table was ready for us to sit because no one came and got us to bring us to our table. No managers in sight and I was told they were on their way. General manager called me and profusely apologized and said everything would be great going forward. Unfortunately it only got worse. We were promised free beignets upon arrival and I had to ask for them to be brought out after waiting 40 minutes. Some of our drink orders never came the entire almost 2 hours we were there. I then went up to the assistant manager who finally arrived and had to tell her to come take our order because we all have toddlers that need to eat and not sit for this long without any food. She also apologized profusely and She promised free mimosa flights and mocktails for some of those who were pregnant: mocktails never came. She also promised dessert crepes comp'd on them for our troubles. Those also never came. Our meals sat on the counter getting cold for 10 minutes and I finally told them to bring our food. Most of our dishes were cold. Mine still sat on the counter, I got myself up (mind you I am 8 days post surgery so don't need to be getting up and down this many times to tell them to do their jobs) and asked if this was the French toast and they said yes so I GRABBED MY OWN FOOD AND SERVED MYSELF. Come to realize they never gave me syrup and never brought it even when I asked for it. Needless to say this was the worst dining experience I've ever had and they had REACHED out to me and invited us in to their establishment. Sidenotes: they were not busy at all and some of our group didn't end up coming and thank goodness because if we had the amount I was actually expecting it would have been even worse. I'm so incredibly disappointed in this experience because most of us also drove an hour to get there because we were excited as mentioned earlier we were invited. Only to have straight disappointment and wasted gas money. Lastly, at one point I was given the wrong French toast dish because the server came over and said it was the French toast but that one had alcohol mixed in the crepe jelly... I am pregnant. Realized it was the wrong dish after a few bites. Then had to wait to serve myself the right French toast dish as was stated. All in all WE WILL NEVER BE GOING AGAIN. read more

The food and drinks are delicious. The hot chai tea latte was the best chai latte I've ever had. Very sweet. The crepe madam was delicious. The bacon jam sauce is the perfect sauce with it. Lots of flavor and very filling. The hash browns were different in a good way. Filled with lots of hash and the sour cream is a great topping with it. Service was okay, our dishes were sitting on the counter cooked and ready for quite a while until someone who wasn't our server eventually brought them over. Otherwise, food was amazing. I've been to Simply Crepes many times since my last review. The restaurant was remodeled slightly since my visit last month when I had the chicken & crepes. I had to look through my photos to see what had changed besides the hostess stand. Wednesdays at 9am are quiet so if you can dine during the week that is the time to go and finding parking is easy. On this visit I went with the breakfast crepe with a side of fruit. It had scrambled eggs, cheese and bacon in it. the fruit had some sliced strawberries, pineapple and mostly melon. The chicken & crepes was really good and a very generous portion. It was the best fried chicken I've eaten and real maple syrup came with the crepes. Everything about this place was phenomenal. The food... the service... the ambiance.... I ordered a goat cheese and arugula crepe and it was so good. Nice and light. Left plenty of room for a dessert crepe. I ordered a banana and crème crepe for dessert to go and ate half in house before leaving and it was heaven. My husband had a rugby crepe and he enjoyed it, but probably wouldn't come back. I'd say this is probably more of a girls night spot then anything. Or somewhere for an adventurous foodie. After being seated we were serviced quickly. Ordered the oatmeal creme brûlée, amazing! A side order of eggs and Turkey bacon, disappointing! $8 for Oscar meyer Turkey bacon with the white strip down the middle. For $8 I expected quality bacon, instead they just give you like 5 strips. The eggs were scrambled with cheese but quite bland. Also got the crepe breakfast, which was good but nothing to brag about. The side of potatoes had a great crisp to them, but some were a bit salty, I think they season with old bay. I was so excited to come here, but wasn't overly impressed.
