Came in and got an estimate for 2 cakes and wedding day. Ordered sample cakes to try, one was good and the other dry and tasteless. Didn't make a big deal out of it, tried to order other flavors and mentioned it wasn't good. Simply Elegant By Raymond is simply the BEST cake bakery in town. I was fortunate enough have my wedding cake created here, not only was it beautiful it was heavenly delicious. The cake was moist, fresh, and maintained its shape nicely; the icing was sweet and light - just perfect. I love that fact Raymond prefers to use icing verses fondant on his cakes creations. I find that although fondant makes a cake look smooth and pretty it can be tasteless and sometimes greasy and heavy. Raymond has found a way to create the same beautiful fondant look but while using real icing. Curtis is the man to talk to when placing your order, he is so helpful and very open to any creative input you may have about your cake. They have so many flavors it is hard to choose the one you like best but I recommend the pineapple cake. Yummy. I love that these guys are so open and honest, I always feel like I'm talking with friends who are just as invested in making my day as great and as tasty as possible as I am. We love this place so much that when ever my husband and I are in the neighborhood (and sometimes when we're not) we stop to buy a few cupcakes just to enjoy these wonderful creations and the delight it brings us in tasting new flavors. There are bigger cake places in town, but I would gladly pay double to have a cake from Simply Elegant By Raymond but fortunately I find that Raymond's prices are actually better for my pocketbook than his competition. You SIMPLY can't do better than to go see Raymond and Curtis for all your Cake needs. read more

We loved our wedding cakes from SImply Elegant. They were easy to deal with, even offering to put grocery store roses on their beautiful cake to save me $75! This place is awesome! They prepared the most beautiful, scrumptious, work of art /cake for our daughters' wedding we could have ever hoped for. The detail of it went perfectly with the venue of the Tx State Aquarium. The guests haven't quit complimenting it yet; two weeks later. Came for my taste testing for my wedding cake and was treated poorly since I sat down. Staff member was short and not helpful since the beginning, and looked irritated. Gave out two cake samples and sat looking at us with out a word, expected us to choose one or the other, and be satisfied it seemed like. I had to make conversation with him and i asked him if there were more flavors bc I couldn't choose from the two, and asked if they do fillings, cause that something I would really like on my cake, but he seemed like he didn't like that I asked. (I mean that is what you do at a cake testing right? You see what they offer?) Staff member did not explain anything to us unless we asked but was rude and short for the most part. My mother asked me what I thought of one of the frosting on one the two samples and I kindly said, I prefer the chocolate bc the white was too sugary for me. Then the owner Raymond came out and snapped on my mother and I rudely saying "What you have to UNDERSTAND is that everyone has different taste palettes, and what you may like, she may not, and he may like, and you can scrape off the frosting...etc" I let him go off for a minute almost 2, and finally said "Why are you speaking to us that way. I was talking with my mother giving my opinion, I said nothing wrong"...First off people he is the owner and since he wanted to say something then introduce yourself nicely, which he didn't. You don't talk to paying customers that way. Mother and I were lost and had to ask all the questions bc they didn't provide any without us asking. But then took it as us being negitive (that is there story), which we were being nice about it, I don't care what they say, they mentioned we were the ones rude, when in actuality it takes a lot for me to get upset and treated poorly without me going off. I sat and took a lot of their rudeness and still remained quiet when owner snapped at us. I finally told him why are you coming at us that way, that is not how you treat customers. He went off again, and I then finally gave him a taste of his own medicine bc I had it being treated wrongly and told him "Your cake taste store bought anyway and that we didn't want his services, thank you."Then we started to get up to leave and he said that was offensive, and you don't tell bakers that, and I said well you don't treat customers that way. He had mentioned he never had a complaint and has been doing this for 10 years. Well Raymond looks like there have been some complaints here in yelp and I'm here to add to them! Maybe others were happy with your service, but from my experience your a different face with every customer bc you didn't treat us right. You didn't look happy to see us, and you know you were in the wrong for coming at us like that. Maybe you had a bad day, but bad day or not you don't have to treat people like that, maybe a staff member can, but your the owner and you should know better. Being a bride you made my experience a bad and unforgettable one. Thank you for that. :/ I will not recommended this place whatsoever. read more
