She does such a great job that I drive from Tarzana in the San Fernando valley all the way to Palos Verdes just to have her cut my hair. This is a small, cozy, attractive salon in a quaint courtyard by the Malaga Cove post office. After seeing their good Yelp reviews, I booked my first appointment here for cut & color, which happened today. My new stylist, Tatiana, relocated to Simply Gorgeous just several weeks ago from Manhattan Beach. She's great! Based on today's experience, I know I'll be happy working with her in the future. And the salon's owner, Ely, is super nice. Overall customer service is wonderful here. While my color was processing, I relaxed under a chandelier & got gloriously lost in a pile of recent magazines. Yes, the celeb gossip variety, don't start on me, it was fun. I could've enjoyed some coffee, too, but the weather's been too damn hot lately for hot coffee so I settled for hot gossip. I could walk to Malaga Cove from home but not this afternoon in the blazing sun. So: There's free parking in the Malaga Cove Plaza but the max time limit is 2 hours. Beware, cuz they're on top of it & you will get busted if you overstay your welcome. Nearby street parking also has 2-hour limits, except for a few spots here & there that you can grab if you're lucky. I knew I'd be pressing that 2-hour limit today so I parked in my secret location on the other side of PV Drive. Directly across the Drive from the fire station is a pretty little park with several spaces, no time limit. You're welcome, please don't tell everybody in town. So yeah, I like the style Tatiana created for me. Imagine Ellen with dark hair & that's it. Next time we're gonna do something with copper highlights. Can't wait! Sounds simply gorgeous. read more

I explained to Sophia that I had an important appointment appointment tomorrow, needed to have roots and maybe some other things done. They were booked today but Ely and Sophia squeezed me in and I left with the best looking hair that I've had in 3 years. Ely is a really nice person, which is very important to me. Additionally, she pays great attention to detail. I showed her pictures of my good hair days and one bad hair day, let her know what I liked about each and voila!
