Terrible communication. I almost changed my mind about them, but then was contacted by a "supervisor" who was very responsive before the move. The originating move from Texas was fine. The trucker turned out to be a complete liar, which we learned when so much of our stuff was waterlogged. Good thing the movers at our final destination (Washington state) took video of water pouring into the truck in the rain. During the move into our new place I tried to get hold of Bellhop via phone (AI assistant- super annoying, didn't result in a call for 5-6 hours) and text. They completely dropped the ball. By a miracle, our stuff arrived in ok shape, even though the boxes were soaked. I only filed a claim for an expensive linen lampshade, even though we did end up with some scratches on the furniture. Just got back the claim result: they are offering me ONE DOLLAR AND TWENTY CENTS. My annoyance and disgust with this company is very, very high. Awful. read more

Bellhop Moving is a deceptive brokerage (not a direct moving company) that intentionally underquotes customers to lure them in, only to inflate charges by 350% or more after services are rendered. The kids they hire as "movers" are not professional or qualified movers, and they even admitted underquoting is standard practice for Bellhops. The company makes no effort to be transparent about pricing. They quoted me 4 hours to move a 750 sq. ft. apartment just 3 miles, with only one large furniture item (a 3-seat couch) and total possessions that filled only half a truck. The move ended up taking nearly 11 hours, and with all charges, the cost exceeded $3,000--an outrageous, predatory scam. When I reported these serious issues mid-move, Bellhop lied about sending help and never followed up. Post-move, they falsified documents sent to my credit card company, falsely claiming more movers were present and that I never complained -- despite extensive communications proving otherwise. The Better Business Bureau (BBB) has been trying to hold them accountable for years due to an overwhelming number of similar complaints (1.2-star rating, 131+ complaints), but the Attorney General office has not yet taken action. I wanted to write a long review but instead I will share our horrible experience with Bellhop via the letter I sent them and of course gave us a BS response. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. THEY ARE LIARS AND HAVE THUGS WORKING FOR THEM. We have moved so many times both short distance and long distance but this was the most unorganized stressful move we have ever had! Upon booking with a Bellhop employee (Jamie Edwards), I asked all of the questions that were important for our move- Were the long distance movers actual Bellhop movers? Would they be in Bellhop tee shirts? Was it a Bellhop truck? Would our furniture be wrapped in plastic and blankets? Would the movers disassemble and reassemble our bed/bedframe and dining table? Would our tvs and artwork be wrapped properly for transport? Would we receive paperwork for our move? Etc. I was reassured that everything would be done by this Bellhop representative. The day before the move, I called to confirm our move-date and was told by another employee that our move-date was actually not a guaranteed date and it could possibly take place 4-5 days from my actual move-out date that I booked!! Being a long distance move, I already had every other aspect of our move also booked-cleaning company, car transport, hotel, and flights. We were completely stressed not knowing if an actual mover was coming the next day as we were told that they were working on it every time we called in, over several hours of the day. They finally had our move booked for 8am the next day. The next day I called in to confirm that the movers were arriving at 8am and was told that our move was scheduled for 8am Eastern time not Pacific time. I began to panic as that wasn't what I scheduled but then 15-20 min later, the movers arrived! So whoever I spoke with was incorrect with their information. To my dismay, the movers showed up reeking of weed and the lead brought his two year old son with him. They were not in Bellhop Uniform, the truck was an Enterprise truck not a Bellhop truck and when asked during our move, the movers told us they worked for a contracted company and were not Bellhop movers! We were also told that the contracted company relied on their driver for materials. The driver only had a few blankets, only one roll of tape, no wardrobe boxes, no tv boxes and no toolbox. Thankfully we had our own toolbox otherwise our bed, bed frame and table would have never made it onto the truck! The whole move was extremely stressful as we were warned throughout the move many times by the lead that our furniture may not fit onto the truck and we would have to leave something(s) behind! On top of this, the driver had a forklift that must have weighed at least 1,000 pounds and took up space on the truck. The movers used it one time. Throughout the move, we were warned by one of the guys that if the truck was overweight, the truck would need to turn around and everything in the truck would need to be unloaded!!! Needless to say, we had the same amount of furniture moved to Seattle with 20% -25% of the truck empty and no weight issues, no mention of weight issues and no forklift on the truck! This Bellhop move took about 8 hours and throughout it all we were constantly warned by the lead that our belongings might not fit and on top of this we worried that there weren't enough plastic and blankets for a proper move! All of these warnings and stress for 8 hours straight! We tried to call the Bellhop employee (who booked our move) multiple times and he never answered! He was ok booking our move and taking our money but was now nowhere to be found. Upon booking our move, he lied about every single detail of our long distance move. Every single answer to my list of questions was replied to with a lie by your representative. In addition to this, the email that this employee sent us stated disassembling furniture and padding/ wrapping our belongings properly. As mentioned above, both were questions I asked during pre-booking. We chose Bellhop because we believed the company was a well known professional popular moving company with the experience and know how to do a long distance move properly! But instead all we got was fear, stress and aggravation! We had been moved from LA to Seattle without a problem before. Everything was packed properly and the movers came with all of the proper supplies and equipment. We assumed Bellhop would deliver the same kind of experience , as it is a well known moving company. During the 8 hour move, we were completely worried and stressed the entire time! When we called the Bellhop company, we realized that the same two employees answered the phone, there was no actual Seattle office, and we had to beg frantically for more blankets and packing supplies! The contracting company owner came by at the end of our move with some tv boxes but Bellhop never came through with any supplies or remedy. Bellhop showed up without a truck and I had to reschedule the move. The movers that did show up were young and seemed too small to move anything heavy. I then spent the week trying to get someone to call me back about a move. In the end, they didn't help me move and I have to find someone else. But they charged me $200 anyway. read more

The 2 movers and 1 driver showed up on time, but that's about the only positive about this service. This may have been the movers first time with zero training. They banged our furniture on the walls and transported shelves, tables, stools, basically everything face down on the floor of the moving truck with no blankets or padding. They lost parts of our furniture and left one piece at the old building. EVERY PIECE OF FURNITURE THEY MOVED IS HEAVILY SCRATCHED and some will flat out need to be replaced. I hired bellhop movers, even though they were more expensive than local companies, because I wanted a stress free reliable move. Their booking process involved a detailed account of large furniture that needed to be moved as well as the size of the homes. they recommended 2 movers and 3 hours to complete the job. Unfortunately, when the movers arrived they indicated they would not have enough room in the truck for all of my furniture. they also did not have time to make 2 trips to get all of my things. they also needed me to disassemble my bed, which I would have gladly done prior to them arriving had I known this would be necessary- but doing it in the spot and while the meter was running was incredibly stressful. in the end they were not able to move 3 bookcases in my office, my dining room table/chairs, or 2 more cabinets from my bedroom as well as a bunch of small items. they also charged me $200 more than I was quoted despite not finishing the job. I ended up having to pay another moving company to come 2 days later to finish the job which costed me $1000 on top of what I paid bellhop. bellhop customer service offered to reimburse me a tiny amount of money but then stopped responding to me so in the end I got nothing in terms of an apology, acknowledgment of how must stress the situation caused me, or any kind of refund. and, I've not even brought up the things that were broken in the move - (drawer pulls broken off my dresser, bed frame broken/cracked, fabric on sofa seem pulled apart) Do NOT hire bellhop. read more

Friendly advice: go with a local mover who is endorsed by your community and skip this low-level service. This company was recommended by the apartment building we're moving into, but we should have read the reviews first. We ended up canceling our order because it was taking forever to assign movers to our order, and so the 48 hours cancelation policy passed, not to mention that their fees for changing or canceling an order are higher than more reliable movers. So disappointed with our recent move. I've used Bellhop multiple times before and always had great quality service. Something has happened with the company over the last year or so, and I will never use them again. 2 movers and 1 driver showed up on time, but informed me once they arrived that the other 2 movers quit so it would just be 2 people. I hired 4 due to the amount of items being moved, plus a couple heavy items that require a 3 person lift. The movers were trying their best, and I really have no issues with them. But bellhop should have rescheduled if we didn't have the right amount of people. The driver was unprofessional, and was the one responsible for moving items around in the truck. He never unloaded 1 piece of furniture or the shelves to our bookshelf, so we are considering them stolen now. The driver also left the kitchen table hanging off the back of the truck, and it fell off and rolled around the driveway - now unusable. We filed a claim with Bellhop on the damaged and stolen furniture and are waiting to hear back. I contacted Bellhop about my bill, considering I did not get what I was expecting or paid for. All they gave me was 10% off. I got half the service I paid for. I am really disappointed in how Bellhop handled this situation. Never again will I use this company. read more

Pros: The movers were excellent. Efficient, pleasant, and extremely helpful. Cons: Pretty much everything else. The company called me two days before my move and asked me to switch to a different time slot. I tried to accommodate this as best I could but my schedule was crazy that day (as they often are during a big move). They called me back and told me I no longer had a choice - I had to change my scheduled move time, or they would change the move date altogether. Yes, I was shocked too. Ultimately I agreed after they were willing to give me a discount for the inconvenience, which I appreciated. The day of the move, the movers showed up an hour early. Not their fault at all, as apparently the person who rescheduled the move put in the time wrong. To boot, after the move, I had to follow up by phone twice to actually be billed the correct amount. Mistakes certainly happen in any situation but I've spoken to others who have had similar scheduling issues with Bellhop. Altogether the experience was stressful, the demand to change my move time was handled really poorly, and it all created a lot of extra work on my end, which is really not what you want when you're in the process of transplanting your entire life to a new location. read more

Not impressed at all. The head labor guy texted me.the night before to introduce himself. I texted back the next day asking if they were on the way so I could move my car (saving a prime space for them) and got no answer. When they showed up they asked me to move my car so they could park. If they had answered my text, it would have already been done. They bitched and moaned about all the little stuff that I had and took over an 1.25 hours to load what would have taken the first company I used 30-45 minutes. They called thier dispatchers and told them that I needed an additional person at an extra 40.00 an hour. No, I refused since there was only 1 small room of stuff. The driver took almost an hour to get to the apartment, the labor guys beat him by over 15 minutes. The guys got huffy when I told them that they could not park in the covered parking stalls (there are only 4 across the parking lot, surrounded by a ton of uncovered parking, kind of obvious that you should not park there) When the guy got here, it took less than 15 minutes to unload the truck and put it in my apartment. The guys unplugged my freezer and blocked access to the hallway with stuff. I had to keep moving it to the wall where I asked them to put it. They clearly were not happy to be working in the wet but if they would have spent more time working and less bitching, it would have gone smoother. There is no reason why this should have taken 3 hours other than them not wanting to do the job they were being paid for. read more

Bellhop cancelled our move an hour before the movers were supposed to arrive. They would only offer rescheduling two weeks later. They then emailed us with a completely different rescheduled day and time to what they promised on the phone. Customer service wasn't particularly interested in how this was impacting us financially (we were moving the week before our lease ended, but they would only reschedule a week after our lease ended). My experience was the complete antithesis of trustworthy, reliable and professional. In future, I'll find companies that are customer centric. read more

BELLHOP IS TRASH!!!! Any convenience of online reservations and illusion of legitimate business from the website is not worth the aggravation of dealing with them. You're better off paying a little extra for a Mom and Pop shop to help you move. 1) I reserved movers and a truck for a Saturday move to storage. After 1 hour past the start time I called Bellhop to ask where my movers and truck were at which time I was told they cancelled. While this is inconvenient and frustrating no one is accountable making it even more frustrating. Bellhop customer service contracts out the move to independent contractors releasing them from liability and accountability. I was transferred to a supervisor that guaranteed a 20% discount and a team to show up on Tuesday. 2) The team on Tuesday showed up 2 and half hrs late after I informed them that the storage facility was going to close soon. They rushed the move and left boxes, defeating the purpose of paying movers. 3) I was then charged the full amount without the discount. 4) The frustration continued after I called them the following week asking about a refund and why I was charged the full amount. Essentially because they were unable to locate the movers, independent contractors, they were unable to verify the hours worked so they charged me the full amount. So I asked them to escalate a ticket to request a refund. 5) 4 days later I had not heard back, called again and was told someone closed my ticket. They couldn't explain why and said they'd open another ticket without any kind of guarantee it won't be closed again. Since they work east coast hours, supervisors aren't available for escalations past 2pm PDT. 5) I understand things happen, but from beginning to near end this company has demonstrated MONUMENTAL INCOMPETENCE AND TOTAL LACK OF OWNERSHIP AND ACCOUNTABILITY. I have never been so disappointed by a service and felt compelled to warn anyone that reads reviews and looking for movers, you are better off going elsewhere, because this company doesn't care about customer service, it's a numbers game. I am incredibly disappointed in my experience with Bellhop. My movers arrived to my original move date with no tools, not even a screwdriver, eventhough they advertise having the ability to disassemble and reassemble your bed. Because of this, my bed and a couple of other items were not able to be moved with the rest of my items. I had to get a second move date scheduled for my remaining items. Here we are the day of my move and my movers were suppossed to arrive 2.5 hours ago and I still haven't received a callback with an updated time of arrival. As you can probably see Bellhop has pretty mixed reviews. I really wish I had trusted the negative ones. I am absolutely disgusted with this company on every level. My experience with Bellhop was very poor and can be summed up with the following: unethical and shady business practices, poorly trained and overworked staff, and below average customer service. Unethical business practices: Bellhop advertises they have "professional" and "highly trained" movers, which led me to believe I was hiring people who were full time, professional movers. Their staff is in fact mostly college students (which is noted on their BBB page) with little experience or training. This is a clear example of false advertising. It was clear the movers were not trained when one of them attempted to move a heavy marble table alone. When I suggested we disassemble the table, he again tried to do it on his own by shimmying and bending a fragile piece of marble. Of course it broke. Bellhop has a $ per weight policy for damaged items and tries to assume no liability for fragile items. This makes sense for things that might be moving around in the truck and get nicked, but BEWARE of using this service if your furniture is anything but IKEA. I believe my false advertising claim was supported when my reimbursement went from $60 to a few hundred dollars after making that argument. They know they're in the wrong. Poorly Trained Staff: the guys who handled my move were nice enough and I overall don't have issues with these individuals (aside from when I kept having to ask them to wear gloves and have their masks on during a major Covid spike), only the corporate office. I was on a tight schedule for my move, which was caused largely to Bellhop asking me to change my reservation multiple times and being up against another move in my building. The bellhop movers showed up over an hour late with no call or notice. I had to call corporate and wait on the phone for 15 minutes just to be told they didn't know what was going on. There's no communication process in place to warn or prevent this. The move started over 90 mins late and the movers were already exhausted, making the entire process also run long. (I was moving a tiny one bedroom that was fully packed). The movers spent the entire time complaining about how Bellhop overworks them and schedules moves back to back, making it impossible to stay on time. Poor customer service: I was quoted at about $700 for my move originally. After I was rescheduled on multiple times and my movers were late, two separate employees offered me a discount. I was pretty shocked when I received a bill for over $1500 - which included the over 90 mins I sat waiting for them because "one of the guys clocked in." Okay, fix those issues before sending a bill! I spent over an hour on the phone explaining my situation over and over. This was eventually resolved but there is a clear intent to scam customers out of as much money as possible because there's no internal audit process and it's solely on the customer to make sure they get a fair deal. Business is a two way street, my dudes. Bellhop's system looks modern and flashy, but don't let it fool you into thinking that means good service. Buckle up for this one, folks! Let me tell you about my move from Hell, starring Bellhop and their "lead mover" CHAD. Chad did a great job living up to his name. If you live in Seattle and you're considering using Bellhop, don't. Because you'll get stuck with Chad, who is sadly a narcissist and a sociopath. I'm sure they didn't fire or even reprimand him, which would be very on-brand for this company. Two days before my scheduled move, I am informed that Bellhop has to reschedule because they don't have a truck. How does that level of poor planning and communication even come to fruition? I explain that I have to go out of town and that is not feasible. They say they can still send movers but I have to figure out the solution for the truck. I don't think it should be up to the customer to fix THEIR mistake as a result of their own poor planning. That's like getting an Uber and saying "We have a driver but you have to provide them with a car." So they agree to arrange finding a truck for me, which they should have just done in the first place. The day of the move comes and I get a call letting me know they will be two hours late. They were THREE HOURS LATE. We were supposed to start at 2, they started at 5 and it was already almost dark. Chad says "We set the bar low so we can exceed expectations." I didn't think the bar could possibly get any lower, but Chad is an overachiever and dropped the bar below ocean level into the fiery depths of Hell. He and I do a walk-through of the apartment, and the two other movers start loading up boxes onto the dollies immediately. I'm told I can just leave my key with them and go hang out at the new apartment and wait for them. 20 minutes into the move I get a call from Chad and he tells me he's not going to finish the move because he's tired and wants to go home, and no joke says "I would rather help myself than someone I don't know" and HANGS UP ON ME. Then I get a call from customer service, which is an oxymoron, and apparently Chad told them the elevator is too small and told the other movers to put all the boxes and bags of clothes back into the apartment "because they weren't on the list" and not to move boxes that weren't listed. That doesn't even make sense, there are also stairs and obviously I was able to move into the building so moving out is more than feasible. So they moved ALL the boxes BACK INTO MY APARTMENT! He did ALL of this so he could go home! He storms off, LEAVING WITH MY KEY. Idk about any of y'all but I've been assaulted by men before, and nothing is scarier than an angry man with no regard for your life or wellbeing with the power to enter your building without your consent. I filed a police report just to cover all my bases at this point because I don't trust Bellhop OR Sociopath Chad. Luckily the two movers left were normal people who were understanding and agreed to move what was already in the truck. They said they've done two jobs with Chad and that he was an idiot. They also told me I shouldn't pay Bellhop anything because of how insanely terrible things went. If your own employees are telling the customer that they shouldn't have to pay for your terrible company, that speaks VOLUMES about what kind of company you are. They spent one whole hour working, most of which was spent playing telephone with ops and customer service. I honestly can't believe Bellhop has the audacity to try to charge me anything at all. I would rather pay those two guys separately than give a single penny to Bellhop. I had to call out of work to move the rest of the items and do Bellhop's job myself before leaving town and will be forwarding the bill for the time I had to take off to Bellhop. Since I, the customer, has to do your job for you, I think I should get paid for it. Can't wait to share this review on every single platform online and the Better Business Bureau! TL;DR - Chads are gonna Chad, don't use this company. They're supposed to make moving easy but in fact, make them far beyond your worst nightmares. read more

If less than one star was possible, I would choose it. Do not hire this company. It was a horrible experience. After filling out the information about what I needed moved and speaking with them on the phone and being assured that they would move my upright piano the movers refused saying it was against their policy. The did not bring a big enough truck so they could not move my outdoor furniture. The movers were unable to take apart a bed frame. Please note: All they had to move was furniture and a few totes. I moved all the boxes and items that were on the walls myself. They left a rug and other items in the house, scraped paint and trampled plants. This was a move across town of a three bedroom house. It took them almost 8 hours. To top it off they charged me an additional $800. dollars for "extra hours". So in addition to not moving what they had agreed to I am being penalized for their incompetence by being charged almost double the original quote and having to hire additional movers. A move that was supposed to cost $1000 is now costing close to $3000. I am a 70 year old single woman and feel that I have been scammed and takes advantage of. Beware. Pros: Showed up on time. Cons: The movers didn't have any moving equipments, dollies, furniture mats to avoid scratching the floor. We were trying to load some stuff into a u-box and they decided to load all the small boxes first and scrambled to get larger items later. When loading the mattress, they dropped it on the floor and also tore off the protective cover. The way it was loaded would have a huge fold in a 10inch mattress. We only had a few boxes marked fragile, those were not handled with care. We had to stop this, as the box was not properly loaded. and ended up finishing the move from other movers. They didn't clean up after themselves -- left their water bottles half empty in the hallway. One of the mover didn't wear a mask, or gloves. Look elsewhere for a professional service. read more

Bellhops quoted me a great price for a next day move. They showed up 10mins early with a HUGE moving truck, much bigger than I needed. The team did a great job making sure all of my items were secured properly & saran wrapped to prevent scuffing. I had several large items and staircases but the two movers, Miguel L. and Aziz A. were happy to work around it and do the heavy lifting. Both were kind and joyful to my 5 year old daughter, which I very much appreciate. Avoid. They charge crazy rates for simply outsourcing the job to randoms. Movers are extremely unprofessional. Kids that were moving my furniture didn't treat it seriously at all, dropping something was funny for them. And very SLOOOOOW, it took them about 6 hours for 1 bedroom move within literally 5 minute driving distance, with all furniture disassembled in advance, I'm not exaggerating. After they pack, everyone drives to unpacking location in their own vehicle, and you wait while they look for parking. Obviously, they take their time. You pay for that time. It was disgusting and infuriating, especially assuming how high the rate is. In my case it took 1 hour for a truck driver to drive 1 mile (just double checked in Google maps), seriously. He got lost in downtown. Nobody apologized, nobody offered refunds. One furniture piece was damaged, but honestly that was unavoidable with such attitude and "professionalism". If I had expensive furniture, I'd simply avoid this place like plague. If I had cheap furniture, then why bother with inflated rates either? I don't see why anyone would benefit from using Bellhop instead of trustworthy professional movers. I admit that you might get lucky and your movers can be better, but do you want to risk? To be fair, I was reimbursed for some (not all) time that I overpaid for due to slow movers and truck driver being lost somewhere for one hour. And for the damaged furniture, although the rates are laughable. Do I feel better? No. I lost plenty of personal time, nerves and brain cells. Not impressed and won't be using Bellhops again. They say when someone is happy with their service they tell 2 friends, when they are upset about their service - they tell 5 friends. You better believe I will be telling my friends not to use Bellhops. One of the movers was 30 minutes late. When he finally got there, the driver was late. So the movers called him, with no answer, I was asked to call the customer service and let them know what was happening because "they listen to the customer more than the employees", which is weird. After an hour of waiting (the move was scheduled for 2pm, it is now 3pm) for a driver that wasn't showing up, obviously, the customer care called me. She said that I would have to reschedule the move, or go rent a Uhaul myself and I would be reimbursed. Unprofessional. Meanwhile, all of my belongings are sitting on the side of the street waiting for the driver to show. While on the phone with customer care the driver texts one of the movers and tells him he is on his way. Unprofessional. Customer care said "we will figure out why he texted the movers and didn't contact us and we will call you back" (she didn't). Unprofessional. An hour and a half later the driver shows up. He is nice, but that doesn't make up for the fact that I have been sitting on the side of the street with all of my belongings. After the move, which only took an hour all in all, the movers left, and I didn't receive any phone calls from customer care. I received an email the next day from customer care, they are charging me the full amount for the move -10% for inconveniences. Which to me seems like a joke. Hiring movers was supposed to make my move easier, which it ended up making it more frustrating and now I am wasting my time writing this review, so someone else doesn't waste their time with this company. All in all, the movers were very friendly, the driver was very friendly, but the customer care and the way Bellhops handled this situation was unprofessional and frustrating. Maybe Bellhops should get their own trucks instead of outsourcing, then they could find out where their trucks are instead of texting them and guessing. Absolutely avoid using this moving company. We had a guaranteed moving time of 9am. At 9:05, we get the first text saying that their driver bailed, so they are finding someone new. An hour later, the second text tells us they're canceling our entire move and the onus is on us to reschedule. At this point, our entire apartment is packed up, and we have taken work off for this moving day. Their customer service was abysmal; there was no apology, and they repeatedly put us on hold or forgot about our call. Finally, they get back to us saying the "best" that they can offer is a reschedule for 5 days from now! Again, our entire life has already been packed up. We asked for a different time that day or even the next day, and they said this couldn't be "guaranteed". The same "guarantee" promise of our original move? In short, do NOT use this company unless you want to be left high and dry on an important day like moving day. With customer service and professionalism as bad as this, I also wouldn't trust them with actually moving my stuff. read more

Movers were pleasant and I tipped them well, but dealing with corporate after an indoor air conditioner fell off the back of the truck during the unloading process has been a nightmare. They claim their site clearly offers insurance, which it doesn't, so they are offering me 5 cents per pound as compensation. Know anywhere you can buy an air conditioner for $36? I cannot in good faith recommend them after this unpleasant experience. read more

I am very upset with BellHop. I believe they were very unprofessional and misrepresented cost for services rendered. I was obviously moving, change of address through the USPS, afterwards I was bombarded with numerous moving related advertisements. One was BellHop Moving Services. Since their add was via the USPS, I made the assumption that they were vetted. Everything was done on line, they asked house/apartment etc., how many rooms, furniture type, number of boxes, from home to 2 addresses-home and storage(1.5 miles from each other) Local move covering about 20 miles each direction(4 bedroom home, but 2 bedrooms were completely empty therefore stated 2 complete bedrooms to move, including a heavy hospital bed, family room, breakfast area, living room, dining room and 50 boxes which I later called and increased to 75 boxes). I completed the information. I received a price of 832.20. The morning of the move, 3 men arrive on time(9am) with a rented Penske Truck. When they arrived they immediately stated that the job is bigger than they anticipated. They were on the phone for about 30 minutes before they agreed to do the move. Also they were told not to move the hospital bed because in exceeded the 300 lbs limit. I spoke to the dispatcher/supervisor(female, Erin?). I was very adamant about the hospital bed being moved because I had disclosed on the online information "Heavy Hospital Bed". Not my responsibility if no one reads the information provided by the customer. The workers were very nice. The crew chief(Edwin) said he would move the hospital bed because he also had a special needs family member. They requested a fourth mover to come and help. I found out at this time that the 1 truck and 3 movers were contracted for my move from 9am to 3pm. Also the truck was not big enough therefore anticipated to do 2 trips. Eventually started at 9:30 am. I told them that I would help in hopes to move things along faster. During the move, I got to know a little bit about the workers. The crew chief(Edwin) who brought the truck was employed by BellHop. The other two workers are independent contractors, Trae works out of North Carolina as a mover as well and the other Ismael who don't remember his regular job, but it is not in the moving industry. The truck was completely filled with the items just going to the storage facility. That run was completed around 5pm(arrived back at the house). The fourth worker(Gustavo-full time job photographer) arrived at the storage facility at 3:50 pm. The rest of the house was mostly items going to the other house. As the day progressed, I could tell everyone was getting more tired, more breaks, less attention to trying to pack the truck all the way up, this time it was about half way up(understandable-but not helpful). There were still about a one car garage size of items still to be moved that they did not get to. The second trip to the house was finally completed at 10pm. They did get the hospital bed moved for which I am very grateful and it took all 5 of us to move it. During the move I had spoken to Erin(?) a couple of times, the conversation was basically the move is taking twice as long with an extra employee for half the time. I said I understood, but also expressed that if the original move was 3 movers and 1 truck for 6 hours and this move took 12.5 hours with an additional worker for 6 hours than the math should work out to be around $2000 give or take. The day after the move another supervisor called me(male-do not recall his name) and also stated that the charges would be more than initially noted. I acknowledged this and again stated that the math should work out as previously discussed. Unfortunately, that was not the case. I received an email from Erin stating that the 4th mover was charged at a rate of $758.87 for 12.5 hours, then a credit of $422.17 since he had only worked 6 hours. Then on my credit card I was charged $832.20 as expected and then an additional charge of $2735.37-$422.17=$2313.20, bringing the total cost of the move to $3145.40 (4x the original price provided for something that took only 2x as long to do). I emailed Erin back regarding the charges 2 days in a row, I never heard from her again! I had given them my credit card to reserve the move about 3 weeks prior, Chase VISA. I filed a dispute with Chase and I was informed by a supervisor that through VISA "Estimates" such as from a moving company are not disputable. A similar move 5.5 years prior with more rooms and items only cost $1400 total. Also, I had to miss work and rent a Uhaul truck 2 days later and move the remaining items left myself with a friend(filled a 15' Uhaul truck)-additional cost! Again, the workers were nice and did a decent job and helped me with the hospital bed. However, I would never recommend BellHop to anyone. Still furious at the way I was treated by the company personnel and financially gauged!!! read more

I was very pleased with my experience. Bellhops helped turned my all-day move into a 2-hour move! Pros: - Kai, the college student who helped me, was on-time (even a bit early!), professional, quick, and efficient. - The student has bright green shirts (with the logo) that make them easy to identify. - The student texts you about an hour before they arrive. - Reservation and payment are done entirely online. - One of the reps contacts you 24 hours in advance to let you know the student's name and contact info. - Their customer service is pretty fast. I usually got an email response within a couple hours. Cons: - The website needs a bit of work. It was very easy to make a reservation, but otherwise, there's not much else on the website. About a week prior to my move, I wanted to confirm that my reservation was still on and to check on the cost. I logged onto the website, and all I saw were some marketing materials - weird! I ended up just emailing Bellhops directly. - There is no communication between the reservation and 24 hours prior to the move. You can email them, of course, but I was a bit worried/surprised that I didn't get any emails leading up to the move. At the end of the day, I'm happy to support a startup as well as a local, verified college student. I would use this service again. read more

Around midnight the night before my boyfriend and I moved his best friend completely bailed on us to help us with out move. We already had the u-haul reserved and we had no idea what to do. I started googling "moving app" and bellhops was the first to pop up. OMG. LIFESAVERS. They were immediately in contact with me, and told me it was going to be tough on such late notice but they were there working hard to find someone. It was stressful, but they called me an hour before the time scheduled and said they had 2 guys for me! The price is well worth it and these people really know what they are doing. Our big studio took about 2 hours to load into the small uhaul and about 45 mins to unload at our new place. They moved all of the big furniture and didn't leave a scratch on anything! I have recommended this service to all my friends and co workers because it is more than worth it! I would share 0 stars if I could. I was way over charged for a simple move at a two bedroom condo. I was told I needed 4 men and 6 hrs for the job. Well right away I though I would get a refund but the charges doubled and the job was not finished on Their time schedual so they LEFT! I had to hire another crew and truck. They refuse to make good on the damages too. Great way to treat a Disabled American Vet. on a fixed income. Never had a bad move until now. And I have shipped oversea's too! My damages are huge. Never did they use a mat blanket or corner shields on my furniture or home. If there was a wall or door way near the furniture it got shoved through scratched and banged. At first, I was a little worried about hiring college kids to move my stuff into my ReloCube (aka the cheaper version of PODS, but just as good in service in my opinion), particularly because I had to be as space efficient as possible. But the price was right, so I decided to give it a try. I had Evan and Sheldon for my moving team. Great, friendly, strong, and professional. They were creative problem solvers in maximizing the space and figuring out how to fit boxes and random items in places that worked. We were able to get most of everything into my container, the rest could easily fit in my car for my long drive to the East Coast. I already had everything packed and ready to go when they came, and it pretty much took only an hour to get everything loaded into the ReloCube. William and Sheldon are great and professional! They arrived on time and start working immediately. They unloaded two Door-to-Door Moving Containers(like smaller size PODS). We have heavy, solid wood furniture and they carry everything to the sencond floor through staris(no elevator in our apartment building). They moved everything very carefully and also helped us assemble the king bed frame and large dinning table. Thanks, William and Sheldon! I'll definitely use the Bellhops again when we move.
