Dentist visit made easy!…read more I despise having teeth work done. The noise, the pain, discomfort...not fun. So, making this appointment was a significant step as I hadn't been to the dentist in quite some time and last time I was living in a different state. I was initially told I'd have to make 2 separate appointments: one for xrays and evaluation, the next for the cleaning. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I was able to do all of this in one visit! Chelsea was my hygienist and she was amazing! Super gentle, explained everything she was doing during the xrays and evaluation and my teeth didn't hurt at all while she cleaned. I was so much more relaxed that I anticipated. Dr. Rose came in and evaluated quickly; I did have to come back for a few fillings...to be expected by me of course. Prices are fair I guess, as I do not have insurance. They do not accept payment plans however. I don't really mind this as I am more than pleased with my treatment and look forward to keeping up better with my dentistry by coming here.

The entire staff of Maple Way is so friendly and helpful, they truly go above and beyond to provide exceptional care. My hygienist does a very thorough job---and on the few occasions when I've had to see a different hygienist, and they have always been equally thorough. Dr. Rose is one of the kindest, warmest people you'll ever meet, and she is truly an exceptional dentist. In addition to standard dental care, she also does some cosmetic dentistry, and she did an incredible job creating crowns for my front teeth, resulting in a smile that I am often complimented on---prior to that, I was very self-conscious of my smile and always tried to keep my lips closed. I truly can't say enough about how happy we have been with this practice. We are now moving away out of state, and are so sad to leave Maple Way dentistry behind!

So, I've been traumatized by dentists in the past. I have spent enough money on my teeth to put a…read morekid thru college. I've never needed braces or outlandish dental care. "Bad teeth run in our family" is something my my whole family can attest to. I've seen my fair share of dentists as I've moved around a lot in my adult life. I've never been excited for a dentist appointment. I'm not the least bit embarrassed by my smile, on the contrary, I'm pretty happy with it. But if I could skip ever sitting in those lounge chairs of terror again- I would. In a heartbeat. I broke a tooth. It's been a couple months now. I saw 2 other dentists, I wait MONTHS for both appointments: and I don't know about you, but when it comes to medical stuff- I trust my gut. I was NOT letting them touch me. Long story short, it turned into an emergency over the weekend. I was awake all night with a swollen face, what felt like a kitchen knife stabbed into my gums and no relief. At 8:01 I called Willow Run and told them I was dying (not in those words, but..) it went something like this: Lady (Jenn I think): Hi thank you for calling Willow Run Dental how can I help you? Me: hi, I have an emergency. I have a broken tooth. Jenn: Are you a patient of ours? Me: No, my dentist is in Florida. Jenn: ok, well we don't have any appointments with a doctor today, but we could get you into a hygienist chair.. *no, she's in pain!* (I think she was vouching for me to a coworker) ok, we can get you in at 9:20. If you could come early to fill out paperwork that'd be great. Me: already on the way there. So, I walk in- the door opens and the angel at the front, Debora, says in a sweet soothing voice: "hi there, you must be our new patient." (While doves flutter from her shoulders and stars twinkle in her eyes. I'm not kidding, she's pure sugar.) At this point I'm thinking "ok, Hannibal Lecter could be the dentist at this point and I'd come back just for Debora. The waiting area is small, but she sure does make it feel homey. The door pops open at 9:20, as promised, and JoJo the hygienist of the century waves me into her cubical and I'm immediately at ease. She reminds me of the cool mom everyone loves because she makes the best snacks and you can tell her all your problems and she doesn't judge you. She was so delicate and kind, and when your tooth is thumping and your mouth might explode- being delicate is a big deal. Also; she ASKED ME WHAT I WANTED-- nobody ever does that, they just tell you what your choices are and make you pick. Very important. Ok, so, I'm feeling pretty confident in my choice so far. And in walks Dr. Schneider. She has soft hands, but a very firm, confident handshake- but, best of all- she doesn't shake your hand and drop it. She holds it for a second. I'm a firm believer in reading someone by their handshake. I could tell she's confident and particular, but caring. She took a look at my mouth, reassured me that everything except my broken tooth looked good and then-- she ASKED ME WHAT I WANTED to have done, again I say-- nobody ever asks anymore! Dr Schneider and JoJo spent time going over my current issues, explaining what it meant for me, offered me immediate pain relief, and then let me decide the best course of action. I'm blown away. I cannot say enough how comforting and kind all of the ladies were that I had the pleasure of seeing today. 100/10 would recommend Willow Run Dental to anyone and everyone. Unless you're a jerk, then don't go there and ruin it for the nice people.

I'm really disappointed, and saddened that this office went from a wonderful family vibe to the feeling of a corporation that doesn't care about its patients getting the care they need, only their profit/bottom line. What a shame.

I hate to give a bad review for the practice because the hygienist that I had for the short time I…read morewas there was incredible. Unfortunately, it appears that a different dentist has taken over the practice recently, and his philosophy on dentistry is that, pain is an integral part of dental work and can't be avoided. At my most recent cleaning, they found a small cavity, but because of the previous extensive filling (done by a different dentist), Dr. Oh decided it was time for a crown. They got all the materials together to get an imprint made for both the temporary and the permanent crown. Dr. Oh then approached me with the hypodermic and I was thinking, "What? No topical to numb the injection site?". No way! He then proceeded to inject the novocain at a rate that produced excruciating pain from the hydraulic pressure. I sat right up in the chair and said, "This is not painless dentistry!" He just chuckled, and said, "There's going to be some discomfort. It can't be avoided with a block." Sorry doctor, but I've had two dentists whose philosophies were that there is no reason for anybody to experience pain during a dental procedure, and if you were experiencing any pain, it was only because the dentist didn't want to take the time to allow the novocain to numb the tissue as it's being injected. The only experience I've had that was worse than this experience was when another dentist I had started drilling before the novocain took effect, and when I reacted, he said, "That doesn't hurt!" That was my first and last visit to him as well. So, even though my hygienist has been incredible, until another dentist takes over Joy Dental, I won't be back to Dr. Oh's little shop of horrors.

But when it came to the receptionist who handles the billing I was most frustrated. I understand that on day one, my visit, I confused her with my insurance info and she ended up billing me directly and told me the insurance company would be sending payment to me. But on day two, my husband's appointment, she wanted to bill the same way, despite having all the correct insurance information and telling us she had confirmed coverage. At the beginning of the second appointment I questioned this and her only explanations was that they "didn't have a relationship with us" and I did not understand how or why that would effect our coverage or normal medical billing - that is to say, billing the insurance company first and then billing us for any co-pay due. When questioned a third time at the end of the appointment, she became very unprofessional in tone and attitude, and when I insisted that she bill the insurance company directly she told me that she could not. When I said that was the only option I was giving her for payment, she became angry and told me that my husband and I would not be coming back, ever (she made an effort to point that out) however within 10 seconds she was miraculously able to bill the insurance company directly. I found her demeanor, and inflexibility, to be unacceptable, and it marred what was an otherwise good experience with a new-to-us dentist. I also found it funny how many times she said they were "doing us a favor" by seeing us. It wasn't like they moved other people to fit us in, that would be doing us a favor. What they did was schedule us in open appointment slots. That's not doing us a favor, that's called doing business.
