I'm very disappointed with this company and their product. I ordered the surround for a JL Audio10w6v2 and it did not fit. The inner opening of the surround was too large. It did not seat like it should. the foam is supposed to go all the way against the cone. It did not. It left a gap all the way around. when I explained this, with pictures, to them they said the cone is sagging. This is a hard polypropylene doesn't sag. The foam was not manufactured to the specifications of the JL audio woofer. I asked for my money back. Including shipping. They sent me a prepaid return shipping label, and then charge me for it by deducting it out of my refund. I could understand doing this if I had changed my mind, but they had an inferior product that did not fit as they advertised. This is their issue, not mine. i bought a midrange and tweeter for a jbl 4311 and they looked and sounded good. but i watched their video on replacing speaker surround on my jbl 128h out of a l112 and they made it look so easy. It seemed to have gone ok but when hooked back up and played it it was totally bad. I called and they said to use acetone or laquer thinner to release foam from the frame so i used actetone and it started to destroy the foam. I called a couple of repair shops and they said you cannot refoam a jbl speaker this way because of the very tight tolerences between the voice coil and magnet and the glue they supply is incorrect to use. So speakers are ok but refoam is very bad. read more

I have an emotional attachment to my classic Cerwin Vega speakers. Bought them when I worked for one of the very first Circuit City outlets. I loved their sound more than the JBLs (a tough choice) or the Infinities (brilliant, but the bass was lacking). The Allman Bros. were known for their huge stage Cerwins called "Mother F@@@kers." I settled for simpler 12 inchers in beautiful walnut cabinets. Many, many years later as part of a home theater set up they began to fart/frumble/skak/rourk/and queef. Very embarrassing and annoying as these speakers playing seductive music had gotten me laid soooo many times in the past. The once beautiful red woofer rolls were crumbling, faded and impotent. Enter SIMPLY SPEAKERS. Bought their replacement rolls/kit, watched Sean the Head Honcho's YouTube instructional videos 20 or 30 times, and finally carved into brain surgery on my babies. Here's what REALLY impressed me: Partially through the surgical procedure I had a question, so I sent an inquiry email to this company, hoping that I might someday get a response. In less than 10 minutes Sean, El Gran Jefe himself, responded to my inquiry. Very cool guy and a pleasure to communicate with! [Other small American companies, can you understand the words commin' outta my mouf here ??!] Brain surgery completed, my speakers and home theater sound are once again brilliant and beautiful (beneath their covers) ...although I screwed up the positioning in my haste (not an attribute of a good brain surgeon). p.s., I'm actually considering pulling my cobwebbed JBL Studio Monitors out of my garage rafters and bringing them back to life thanks to my experience with this company. My Boston Acoustics PV600 subwoofer started making a horrendous sound. I couldn't figure out what was going on until I looked underneath and saw that the foam was totally knackered. I shopped around at a couple of online vendors and went with Simply Speakers as they seemed to have the best instructions. I'm glad I did because I quickly received a quality product. They sent it immediately in a very stout cardboard box. I was relieved as I thought they'd send it in a flimsy envelope and that the foam would get folded. The foam was cut perfectly. They sent a very high quality glue as well as a glue brush. They actually sent a huge tube so I can use it for other crafting projects. The instructions were fantastic - very detailed. I did the refoam on my DQ-20is per your videos. Holy cow Batman! The transients! Biggest change was in treble. Very surprising. Very lovely treble harmonics. I can listen to baroque violin ensembles and really enjoy them now. Very sweet sounding and not unpleasant at all. Music with subtle measure to measure dynamics are better revealed and easily communicated. Im listening to music I wouldn't normally listen to. I ordered a repair kit for my 8 inch subwoofer speaker for my Lexus IS 250 through this Simply Speaker website. They cancelled my order and explained that the kit is not compatible with my subwoofer although someone in a Lexus internet forum said that it is. Simply Awesome. First, the order processed immediately and was labeled as shipped within an hour or two. Then, I realized later that night, I ordered the wrong item. The manufacturer of vintage JBL woofers used different sized cones for the same woofer model number and I had ordered the wrong size surround for my repair. It is clearly marked on their website, but confusing none the less so it is nice to see they understand that and accommodate. In fact, they were more than understanding. They had great communication both in email and over the phone and shipped the correct size surrounds to me immediately without any action on my part other than my word I would return the wrong size when I had finished my repair. On Customer Service: I needed replacement foam for my old Cerwin Vegas 10" floor-standing speakers. I mistakenly ordered the 8" foam and immediately contacted customer service. The exchange was easy and no hassles, I simply returned the 8" foam and within another day or two received the 10" replacement. On product: Perfect fit, no issues, the included instructions were perfect and the online video even better (I actually found this company by searching and coming across the video). When they say there is plenty of glue, there is, I have about a quarter to a third of the tube left over and did not skimp when installing the foam. Hard to find an honest company with a great product and great customer service these days, Simply Speakers is one of them! read more

I bought a speaker foam repair kit that came with two foams, in order to replace one. It was easy to install, instructions were great, very happy. A few months later my other speaker's foam blew (I guess it was just their time, they were 15 years old) so I was happy I'd saved the other foam and extra glue. This time, however, I still followed directions but apperantly wasn't quite as careful as I didn't think to line up the factory gasket to the holes on the speaker when I glued it down. An hour later when I tried to put it back in the speaker box, it wasn't lined up and I had to remove the gasket, and thus tore the foam. I wrote to them to ask how to remove the repair foam (as it's glued to the top of the speaker, unlike the original) and not only did they offer suggestion, sent me another repair kit free! A fabulous product with fabulous customer support, and a fabulous price. I set out to restore a wonderful pair of Advent speaker systems. The surrounds in their classic (1987) Jensen woofers had crumbled and needed to be replaced. I didn't even know such a restoration was possible, but Simply Speakers sold the parts I needed - a pair of replacement surrounds and the right kind of glue for attaching it, and provided excellent YouTube instruction videos showing how to install them. So I gave it a go: bought the kit, watched the video several times, and installed the replacement surrounds. The first turned out perfect, but when the glue dried on #2 I found that the voice coil was rubbing. Here comes the great customer support part: They also do repairs, so I emailed them telling them what happened and asking what they'd charge to repair the speaker for me. They told me they'd do the repair for $95, but they also gave me simple instructions for how to try again by ungluing and then re-gluing the surround. I did, and the second time was a charm. "Sometimes You Get What You Pay For", I wanted to keep my 15 year old Paradigm PS 1200 v4 12" sub after upgrading my entire home theater system, but it stopped working within a week after my new setup. While doing internet research, I ran across Simply Speakers (SS for short) foam replacement video on You Tube. I immediately tore into the sub and discovered the foam on the driver had disintegrated. It was super easy to find the right foam and place the order. Afterwards, I ran across a competitor's site and video with foam at half the price...so I placed an order there as well. Both arrived quickly on the same day. SS's came in a protective box, the other in a softpac envelope that had been obviously folded over an number of times. Upon comparison of the foams, it became clear that SS's was superior in material (more dense), manufacturing (edges clean cut) and a "perfect" fit (the other was slightly too large and would have required cutting). Furthermore, SS's glue came in a typical metal tube with screw cap that you would expect. The others came in an oversized plastic squeeze bottle 1/3 full with push-on cap. Both would be ok for a one time use, but SS's seemed to be a better product to me. SS's instructions were clear and easy to follow with "Tips & Tricks" that were helpful (along with the videos of course). The others appeared to be a copy, of a copy, of a copy...and difficult to read. The SS foam installation was a snap and I'm happy to report my sub is back...and I think BETTER than it was new. The cost differential was all of $11, and "Sometimes You Get What You Pay For"...and that was the case for me with Simply Speakers. They are "Simply" the best. read more
