Hubby and I dropped in for a late lunch during the stay nearby. The place was fairly crowded with people finishing their lunch. The front entrance overlooks the runway of the airport with a great view of planes and helicopters landing or taking off. However, due to the lack of clean tables (messy dirty dishes and cups, napkins, etc.) we were forced to sit at the back wall. I ordered a burger with onion rings, and hubby wanted the club sandwich and fries. Our food arrived in a short amount of time, and the club sandwich was a very large portion. We took half home in a box. All this time there may have been only one waitress who was busy taking orders, refilling coffee. However, all dirty tables remained dirty. Not sure why - there were at least three in the kitchen talking to each other. Nice location but we probably won't return. read more

We flew in from Statesville, NC on a Wednesday for lunch. This is a nice cafe style restaurant right on the airport. The vibe is very relaxed and friendly. I had a Chicken Sandwich and husband got a Grilled Cheese Sandwich and Turkey Vegetable Soup. Portions were huge. Our server was friendly and helpful. We got our food quickly but never felt rushed to eat. Great view of the flight line. Will definitely return. read more

As others have mentioned, portions are very big. My Beef Barley soup ($4.50 a bowl) was very good. Wife's BBQ plate with slaw and fries were good. BBQ is on the sweet side. Granddaughter's chicken tenders tasted homemade. Son and daughter-in-law got a chicken sandwich and club sandwich, and they liked theirs. There were several people eating that had flown in for lunch. Pretty cool to sit at your table and watch the planes take off and land. read more

Local TV made them too big, too quick!!! We waited for way over TWO hours for what little food they hadn't sold out of! We heard the owner RUDELY tell other customers that it was because of a segment on local media! They were completely sold out of EVERYTHING except hot dogs by the time our food arrived! They only had burgers and chips when we ordered. Had we been told when we arrived, it was 45 minute wait (ended up being over an hour) for a table, and they were out of most food, we would have left. I'd rather drive a little further and support another local business than be BS'ed around about the problems they are having. The staff mentioned something about hosting an event that kept them busy until 11:30 the evening before. There are definitely so many things they can improve upon! As someone who flies all over and travels frequently for work and fun, this place is definitely on the do not ever return again list. Ended up spending over $20 per person for an overcooked burger and onion rings. I'm hoping this review makes it to the owner and staff. Communication is key, and I prefer the truth over a slew of excuses! Next time we decide to take a Sunday drive for something different for lunch, I'll do better research. Great little cafe/diner right at the Martinsville Blue Ridge Mountain airport. It's a great place to stop for fuel if you're flying (some of the best prices in the southeast) and grab lunch. The cafe itself is delightful with a lot of aviation paraphernalia, a great chance to do some plane watching and decent food. I had a tuna club sandwich special, while my wife ordered a burger and damn I gotta say, I had meal envy. Her burger was enormous, cooked medium rare without even asking and just downright delicious. My tuna club was pretty good, but I took bites at her burger at every opportunity (when she was and wasn't looking). So bottom line: just go for the burger if you're here! The service is kind and you get some of that southern hospitality, but if they are slammed...it may take a while as there's not usually more than two people working here. Bottom line: a fantastic airport cafe with decent burgers! The fish is cooked from frozen, so I'd skip that. read more

This little cafe is right on the airstrip of the Blue Ridge Regional Airport and has big plate glass windows where you can sit and watch the planes come in and go out. There is an outdoor patio but there are never umbrellas up so I don't think that is ever used. We almost always see someone fly in or fly out so it's got to be a fairly busy airport. The staff said that it can get crazy on race weekends because the NASCAR drivers fly in here. The portions you get here are ridiculous and we've been very happy with the quality. We tend to get the burger here but they have a great flounder special on Fridays. The burgers are so big that it is difficult to smash them down enough to be able to take a bite and they taste and smell so good. (I know it's weird to say that the smell particularly good but they do and I don't know another way to say that. read more

We missed the location twice, they are literally at the airport! We drove by it twice! I finally found it and luckily it was empty I ordered the bacon cheeseburger and it was massive. It's great to have a consistent, dependable, and delicious place to fly for lunch with friends! The hamburger steak was tasty and big enough that my son enjoyed the half I flew home. This is the 4th time I've been there. Even the gas prices in the FBO are reasonable (full-service is the same price as self-serve for 100LL). I was in town doing some work and went for lunch. Great meal I had a BLT with tater tots. Very large portions, you will not leave hungry! Found this restaurant simply by chance during a long drive from western part of VA to Virginia Beach. Just off US 58. Now I consider it a destination food spot for lunch. Best club sandwich ever. Suzanne has done great keeping one of the few airport eateries going....she does a great job keeping us Pilots flying back over and over. I know a lot of our Flying Club members love to fly here for lunch. The burgers are so good, and of course, the secret "Chicken Salad", if she made it that day, is not on the menu, and one of my favorites. I ordered a cheeseburger and fries and the burger was delicious and it was served on a real Kaiser roll, not some cheap supermarket bun. Others in my group ordered other items and everyone was very happy with their meal. If you fly in, this is a great place to eat. I'd eagerly go back to this restaurant. read more
