I do not stroll through Danville very often, in fact on my trips to North Carolina I tend to avoid the area. But we had a new puppy that needs to stop and we needed a little caffeine boost. Which led us here. And boy o boy was this a treat. A true gem of a place. I really wish they had a second location in Charlottesville because this would beat any of our local cafes. The area it was located was also beautiful as well. Really made me reconsider my whole opinion of Danville as a whole. Might just be my new favorite stop on the way to North Carolina. read more

Beginning with service, it was okay. Staff seemed annoyed with my questions -which as a new customer of course I'll have a few. I also felt like the chalkboard menu wasn't very clear in terms of ingredients. My breakfast sandwich took around 25 minutes to come out. During that time several customers who had arrived after me had been served. I felt like maybe they were prioritizing customers who were dining in as opposed to take out. When my sandwich did come out it was lukewarm, which was a little disappointing. The ingredients seemed like pretty good quality, but overall there was no seasoning and it didn't taste like much. I did really enjoy my coffee! I was impressed by the selection of flavors and milks and my latte only took about a minute to come out. If I were to return to Danville there are probably other cafes I'd check out before Links. With that said the cafe had a decent crowd and seemed popular with the locals. read more

This pristine, fairly new coffee house and cafe is conspicuously situated on a sunny corner of Craghead Street in Danville's historic River District. Its tasteful decor combines cosmopolitan and industrial chic styles, harkening back to the area's historical tobacco era. As a prior Danvillian (30 years removed), I am delighted to have it as an option for our morning coffee on our frequent family visits. Natural light floods its spacious dining area with partially exposed original brick walls and original ceilings. Comfortable seating, including a leather sofa and chairs, is available throughout. My wife's latte was perfectly prepared, frothy and delicious. She ordered a bagel with cream cheese and I went with a cranberry scone. My coffee was rich and flavorful (as it should be at a coffee house.) The bagel was okay but the scone was a bit dry and tasteless. At most coffee houses, however, breakfast options are often little more than an afterthought (can you say, Starbucks?), so I was not going to rate this place until I had at least tried lunch. Lunchtime was indeed busy here with nearly half the tables being full. I tried the Tuna Melt: Fresh tuna salad on a toasted bagel with Havarti cheese for $7.95. It was very tasty. I also noticed that they use Boar Head meats as their coldcuts. It is hard to argue with that. Most diners seemed very satisfied with their sandwiches. The star of their desserts are the whole Maxie B cakes imported from Greensboro and offered by the slice for $5.95. Our group tried a slice of each and, as expected, they were delicious. Ordering a slice of cake this way is always a gamble because they tend to become stale from the last cut outward, but again, our servings tasted fresh. Finally, the service, although limited, was friendly and attentive on both trips. I would say that this place is a Gotta Try for its coffee, atmosphere and cake... hey, and the sandwiches ain't bad either, so grab one if you're there for lunch! read more

Stopped in to get a latte to wake up a bit while driving through Danville. Barista was courteous and as quick as she could be and helpful answering my questions. I wish I could say better things about this place. The issue is the service que. When a guest places their order at the first counter they then transition to the next counter. Everything bottlenecks at the next counter. People hover around waiting for their order. It becomes very congested and unpleasant. This is such a simple fix. Assign a name or number to the order. People can take a seat and wait for their name or number to be called. Next, the service is slow. It takes quite some time to get your meal at lunch time. Most people have about an hour for lunch. Waiting 30 minutes for a salad or sandwich is far too long. Generally speaking it should not take 30 minutes to make either one of these items. Regarding the food, it is fine. Not great not horrible.
