Wow, right? Attractive and welcoming is Links Cafe. No question about it, but what about the bagels.

Place looks great. Located in the River District, Links Cafe has ambiance. Service was friendly. But we came for a bagel with coffee. UGH. Everything bagel was clearly not made in house AND it was stale. Okay, the coffee will redeem this place, right? WRONG.

A wonderful place for breakfast or lunch. The food always has been worth the stop. There is a comforting cool vibe in the place. The staff and service only add to reasons to go. I would even suggest stopping for coffee and some baked goods.

A view of the delicious artificial egg and sausage patty. Almost as artificial as the high fructose corn syrups they use here:)

The vibe/ambiance/ cafe is really nice! Beautiful place to sit and talk! My ice latte was disgusting! 1883 syrups are all terrible and terrible for you. Full of artificial flavoring and that's exactly what all 3 drinks we got taste like.. fake plastic. Drinks were 1/10. We all threw our coffees in the trash a few sips in.. The food shown in the picture shows frozen eggs and sausage and could easily tell.. bagels we're good tho! Food was 6/10

The food is amazing! I sat on the couch and enjoyed my coffee and then moved to the table for my burrito. They brought out both drink and food and called me by name, that kind of service makes me feel at home. The music isn't too loud and the group of locals enjoying their coffee in the corner feels like old times.

This pristine, fairly new coffee house and cafe is conspicuously situated on a sunny corner of Craghead Street in Danville's historic River District. Its tasteful decor combines cosmopolitan and industrial chic styles, harkening back to the area's historical tobacco era. As a prior Danvillian (30 years removed), I am delighted to have it as an option for our morning coffee on our frequent family visits. Natural light floods its spacious dining area with partially exposed original brick walls and original ceilings. Comfortable seating, including a leather sofa and chairs, is available throughout. My wife's latte was perfectly prepared, frothy and delicious. She ordered a bagel with cream cheese and I went with a cranberry scone. My coffee was rich and flavorful (as it should be at a coffee house.) The bagel was okay but the scone was a bit dry and tasteless. At most coffee houses, however, breakfast options are often little more than an afterthought (can you say, Starbucks?), so I was not going to rate this place until I had at least tried lunch. Lunchtime was indeed busy here with nearly half the tables being full. I tried the Tuna Melt: Fresh tuna salad on a toasted bagel with Havarti cheese for $7.95. It was very tasty. I also noticed that they use Boar Head meats as their coldcuts. It is hard to argue with that. Most diners seemed very satisfied with their sandwiches. The star of their desserts are the whole Maxie B cakes imported from Greensboro and offered by the slice for $5.95. Our group tried a slice of each and, as expected, they were delicious. Ordering a slice of cake this way is always a gamble because they tend to become stale from the last cut outward, but again, our servings tasted fresh. Finally, the service, although limited, was friendly and attentive on both trips. I would say that this place is a Gotta Try for its coffee, atmosphere and cake... hey, and the sandwiches ain't bad either, so grab one if you're there for lunch!

Nice atmosphere. Order was wrong twice. We finally gave up and left. Tossed coffee in trash when we left. Do better.

There is so much they offer. As far as eating they have Breakfast (smoked salmon bagel!), hot if cold sandwiches (the Jezabel ham!), salads (green ones but I love chicken salad), specialty pizzas (Neapolitan Nod!), and charcuterie boards! Then there is an extensive selection of teas, espresso based drinks, and wines (white, red, or sparking). You can enjoy a glass or a bottle. I've been to my share of coffee shops where the espresso based drinks either tasted burned or were so sugary you feel a diabetic coma upcoming. Not so here. Theirs are perfection with perfect balance of strong and sweet if you like flavors. Then there's a rotating bit of seasonal syrups and house-curated drink options. My favorite is the atmosphere. Couches and comfy large armed chairs, great art, tables outside, what's not to love? The owners take such pride in their shop. They keep it clean, always have a smile and kind word, and make sure their staff has that same spirit. This places puts the best out there for Danville.

The breakfast menu did not have much for me, but I was happy that I settled on a texturally intriguing apple crumble cake and paired it with a contrasting vegetal tea, which came loose leaf and ready to steep. The sweet potato pancakes were really good, and the steak and eggs surprised me because the steak portion was huge and cooked really well. The avocado toast was also delicious, and even something simple like the eggs and cheese tasted amazing -- they really know how to make good scrambled eggs there. I also thought it was really cool that they had a little French market section where you can shop for French products while you're there. Most of the mimosas were really good too, and on Sundays they're only $5, which was a nice bonus. The wait time was definitely long -- over an hour and a half -- but honestly, the food and overall experience made it feel worth it in the end!

Would definitely look for her again on my next visit. The food. First of all I underestimated the portions. The Red Potato Hash is enormous. Really great flavor but I barely made it halfway through the bowl. I also ordered the lemon ricotta pancakes. They're probably my favorite thing on the menu. Taste, texture, consistency, all perfect. Tried their crepes for the first time and loved it as well. As someone who drinks coffee daily, they make really good lattes. The salted honey was that perfect balance of sweet and salty without being too much of either. This is the perfect breakfast/brunch restaurant. They're consistent, personable and efficient. Can't wait to come back and check out some new items.

As you enter the Coffee House doors, you begin to see the above take form. There are different seating areas with comfortable furniture. There is an area where paintings from locals of the community decorate the walls and are for sale. Another area with arts and crafts for sale as well. Free WiFi so customers can drop by and do some work as they drink a cup of coffee. While I was there, a customer did just that. The owner gave me a warm and friendly welcome and explained all the food items they had for breakfast and lunch. They have freshly baked New York Bagels shippedfrom New York daily. To drink I ordered a medium Caffè Mocha. To eat I ordered a Breakfast Sandwich with a Cloverdale Plain Bagel, with Bacon, Egg, and Cheese. And finish with something sweet, a Cherry Danish. The Mocha was amazingly good The Bagel was very large and fresh; crunchy on the outside and soft and moist ingredients the inside with a nice size portion of Bacon, Egg, and Cheese. I spent some time there and was able to meet one of the employees who happened to arrive during this time. I also met a nice older couple who enjoy eating at different restaurants and I recommended them Crooked Shoreline Steak and Seafood from Daleville, which I just finished eating there and few days before, and was the first to review this restaurant for Yelp. They loved the oral recap of my review and promised they would go that same event to dine there. They in turn recommended me Nakhon Thai Cuisine which I will be doing there and reviewing for Yelp next Tuesday. Amazingly, what I wrote about at the beginning of this review did take place during the time I was there. God has blessed this Coffee House in a very special way, and it was providing more than just food and drinks for the body, but also for the soul. I highly recommend this Coffee House to all reading this review and viewing the photographs taken for it.
