Besides that once the staff understands that not all "certain" guests are not delivery drivers (assumed I was a delivery driver while I was still wearing office business attire mind you) they give perfunctory service. Besides the awkwardness upon entering Simply Thai...I must say.. .the dishes I ordered were Simply Awful. For some reason the chef adds an extremely high level of oil to everything that at least I ordered and as a result this made my dish pretty well inedible. Contrast this with real Thai food that I have gotten fairly consistently in High Point for example and you wonder if the high rankings this establishment gets are due to the locals just not having a clue about proper Thai Food. read more

After finding out our go to dinner spot was closed on tuesdays we decided to go to the closest thing to it which was simply thai. We were greeted by workers upon entrance with a beautiful formalish dining room area that almost feels intimate. The tom yum soup was a bit saltier than what I expected it to be but i loved the big chunks of tomat. I wasnt the biggest fan of the mushrooms in the soup. I did enjoy the chicken lettuce wraps. I also ordered a roll of sushi which tasted delicious. The server was well attentive and our food came out rather quickly. I have been wanting to try this place for a few yrs and I finally made it! My good friend met me for lunch here. I am obsessed with all Asian food, but Thai is by far my fave. As soon as I saw they had a patio, I got excited as I love eating outside and yesterday was the perfect weather for it. We went inside and requested outside seating. Also has a nice patio for people to sit outside when the weather is warmer. Staff was very nice during my brief time there. Ordered the steak pad thai... the cost... $26! Now I've paid more than that for entrees before with no problem, but I thought this was a misprint. $26 for pad Thai?! Wasn't a misprint, paid $70 for a takeout order for 2 entrees (my pad Thai & one for my wife) and an appetizer. So my review of the food is based off the entree of pad Thai vs the cost they charge. It wasn't worth it. Didn't come with nearly enough steak for the price point. There's other options around for pad Thai that you can get for almost half the price, and taste the same. The pricing doesn't make sense to me... we all know if we order something off uber eats vs from a restaurant, it's cheaper when getting it directly from the restaurant. For here if you get a regular pad Thai entree, their menu says $21. On uber eats, $16. The juice isn't worth the squeeze to me. read more

Nice atmosphere, good service. The Thai iced tea was great (and big!). The food was pretty solid. The Pad Thai and my son's meal seemed a tad less flavorful than I've had at other Thai places (I ordered my Pad Thai with chicken, but I also kept finding pieces of tofu; I'm not sure if that was accidental or just how they prepare it). The spring rolls were pretty good, and I thought the sushi roll with crab salad was tasty. We didn't sit outside, but they have a scenic deck with tables. Elon's not a huge town, so it's nice to have a Thai option. Not the best I've had, but you could certainly do a lot worse. read more

What was once the best Thai restaurant this side of Raleigh has now become an average, uninspired Thai restaurant. They cut the menu and my all time favorite Larb salad is gone. Money bags were soggy and tasted like scallions and soupy cream cheese. The Mai tai tasted like cough syrup. It was really a shell of what use to be. We will not be going out of our way to visit. I was passing through Burlington on my way to Pennsylvania, and decided to stop for the night... of course, I was hungry because I had been on the motorcycle for the past 10 hours or so. I also knew I needed something that was not plain-jane American fare, since the next couple of days was certainly going to be food of that nature and my stomach can only take so much lasagna style food. The hotel I was staying at was no use... they just recommended the local chain restaurants within walking distance, so it was up to Yelp to help me out with something a bit more exotic. Thankfully they had Simply Thai on the list of places, and that is where I went, despite having to traipse halfway across town to get there. Entering the premises is a bit odd, as I had to enter through the patio on the side, but no matter... I was greeted and seated in a short amount of time, and I had my order in promptly. I always get a surprised look when I order the spiciest you can manage with a curry, but I knew that in the middle of North Carolina I would need to order the maximum to have a chance at having any real spice. I was right... in my book it was about a medium, and I had to ask for the house chili sauce to kick it up a notch. The curry was good, despite my wishes that it be twice as spicy as it was. I also ordered the tom yum soup, which is an interest of mine because it seems that every restaurant that has it on the menu has their own little twist to it, so seeing how that plays out is always fun. In addition, I got some summer rolls as a starter because they always go down well. I really enjoyed this meal, and I went back to my hotel with a sated stomach that was now prepared to handle the blandness of the next couple of days. read more

Simply Thai is our sushi "old faithful" here in Alamance County. We always like to make reservations on the weekend, just in case they are overly busy. That way we don't have to wait for a table. We wanted to go out for date night and I was craving sushi, so Simply Thai was where we ended up. We went on a Friday night, and were seated promptly in an oversized booth, which was pretty nice. The actual interior of the restaurant is pretty small, but they have done a good job making it look nice. Our server's name was Austin, and he was just phenomenal. He didn't ignore us, but didn't worry us to death either by announcing every single thing that he was doing (i.e. "I'm going to top off your water"....my pet peeve). He had a very nice ability to read the table and anticipate our needs without asking us a million questions. More servers should have this skill. We come here fairly regularly, so we generally have a good idea what we want. For starters, we ordered the money bags and the Oh Baby shots. They are both super good, but I'm telling you now that the Oh Baby shots (it's a sushi roll) is a must order when you come here! We literally order it Every. Single. Time., and it never disappoints. The money bags are like little crab rangoons but they are shaped like tiny bite sized bags of gold. They come with a sweet dipping sauce. We enjoy ordering them. For the mains, I ordered the Golden Dragon Roll, and my husband ordered the Simp Roll (I failed to get the picture before he dug in....the presentation is much better than the picture reflects!). We both tried new rolls that we haven't had before, and both agreed that they were very good and the we would order them again. Bottom Line: Really good sushi, great service, nice atmosphere. Simply Thai maintains its long term spot on our list as one of the solid local restaurants here. read more

A hole in the wall place, but doesn't feel like it once you're inside. The Hawaiian Tropic Roll was average. I expected better for the price, but wow...the Pad See-Eww (with shrimp) blew me away. Food was better today than last time but I do think it's very overpriced for the portions. Friendly service and they still have you going in the side door which is a hike for disabled patrons who have to park on the opposite side of the plaza. Their schedule is confusing. Every portal shows a different opening time. Google says 5 and Apple says 4. It says 5 on Yelp and their website says nothing. The online ordering on their site says 5 but they opened today at 4. Open on a Sunday for lunch with my hungry Laotian fam! Committing to a lady's day out, once a month, to take my grandma (matriarch of the family), we traveled as far as Advance to eat here. Grandma's getting skinny and we needed to make sure we were going to find food she'd eat! So we landed on Thai/Lao and thank goodness they were open. The places by us either weren't open or didn't have great outdoor seating. Stumbling in, my aunty immediately starts speaking Lao to the waitress, and alas, she acknowledged! This was very exciting for us and we were immediately able to bond over our preferences and expectations. My aunt and I had the kowpoon with ground chicken. It was a fairly good portion and tasted very good! I'd probably prefer mine spicier, but the flavor was very satisfying for both of us. I think first-timers might be overwhelmed with the amount of cabbage and veggies that are laired on top, but in my experience, it's supposed to be eaten this way. Lao people love their veggies and it's supposed to give the soup a crunchy neutral taste/texture to the curry soup's richness. I ordered the shrimp fried rice for my 2 year old who absolutely loved it. The portion was also appropriate. Had we not eaten 3 orders of the dumplings, she probably would have eaten the whole thing! Speaking of dumplings, they were bomb! I enjoyed that there was a healthy meat-to-wrap ratio and of course, it was very tasty. Grandma had the Rad Na and had to take hers to go! That gravy was yummy! My cousin had the sushi and the flavor was apparent all the way down to the rice. Not a ton of things on the menu, but the few things there are done very well. A yummy stop for Thai food in Elon, NC. I've been to their other location in Jamestown and food is also pretty solid. We went all out ordering the calamari appetizer, Spicy(Drunken) Noodles, Tiger Uppercut Roll, Hinata Roll and Mango Sticky Rice for dessert. We really enjoyed the calamari and the spicy mayo was delightful. The spicy noodles were so good. By itself, it had a little kick but not that spicy. Which is a good thing when they gave us a spice rack to add more chilies as much as we wanted. The sushi was good too, cut into perfect eating portions. The only qualm I have is the price. The price is a little expensive for the portion sizes. And while I didn't dislike anything I've had, this place would be reserved for nicer occasions versus everyday dining. read more

They have a monopoly on drunken noodles here in Elon/Burlington. You simple can't find this dish at any other local restaurant. The most disgusting "Thai" food. I've lived all over the country and have never had food taste like this- started with fresh rolls - looked ok but stuffed with pounds of cilantro not mint and had a weird jelly sauce with it - not peanut sauce. Then the pad Thai came out which were ultra thin rice noodles tossed in ketchup. The Massaman curry was essentially Indian curry nothing remotely like it should taste. My husband and I moved to the Burlington Area recently and wanted to try Thai food close by. We came across this restaurant and paid a visit on a Friday night for dinner. We are vegetarian and ordered the garden roll, the drunken noodle with tofu, the curry fried rice with tofu and the mango sticky rice. The first thing that shocked us are the prices here. The noodles and the curry fried rice costed us $21 each. The portion sizes of the food especially for the prices being charged are very very small. Next, this place doesn't know what Thai food tastes like. The drunken noodle and curry fried rice tasted very similar with a smoky flavor and hardly any sauce! The tofu that they add is extremely bland and sad. The next thing I want to address is the service. The service is extremely slow and we had to ask multiple times where our food was. Pros is the wasabi and ginger taste fresh, the fish is fresh but the spicy tuna roll diameter was so small. Maybe the size of a fat finger but it also has other filler like cucumber in it. The Nigiri was good but I had to special order it. The atmosphere is good. Has outdoor seating too. Some of the sushi and lettuce wraps were bland. The sampler was a lot of different fried things which some things were good like the spring rolls but the rest felt fried for no reason(tofu, shrimp, ect.) Curry was decent but nothing special. I had a beef dish which was also just ok. The environment was interesting but very dirty. We sat in a booth and there were pencil marks and stains on the wall. This was our first time here and let me tell you it definitely won't be our last. My girls had California Rolls which I forgot to take a picture of but they didn't last long because my daughters ate all them super quick. My girls had the Pho with chicken and the bowl was already split for the both of them in the kitchen. The drunken noodles I had were amazing. It was my first time trying them so I didn't even have an idea of what it would taste like but I'm glad I got it. I had mine as mild but I think I might try a little more heat for next time and see how it goes. I let my daughters try it and my 8yr old said it was spicy to her. We also tried a few of the appetizers like lettuce wraps and fried dumplings. Over all a good place. Keys to point out. We went when the fat frog next door was having an event. We ended up in the gravel overflow parking. Started raining while we were eating and it was messy getting to our vehicle. I still say give it a try.
