I've been to this restaurant 2 or 3 times in the last month and a half. Amazing food and service!!! Really good appetizers, sushi and entrees. Andrew was our waiter this week and you couldn't have asked for better service. My girlfriend and I had tons of questions about the menu items and he was extremely patient with us and helped guide us to some great choices. We've tried the Money Bags and Lettuce Wrap appetizers, as well as the Summer Wraps and Fat Ninja Crispy Roll and Green Lantern Rolls and all are delicious! Definitely worth a visit! read more

This is my go-to work lunch spot and it's my close to campus happy place. I've only ever gone for lunch, usually after the lunch rush. I've tried most of the daily lunch menu specials and haven't ever been disappointed. Also gotten the lad nar and pad Thai from the regular menu and they were excellent as well. A few things I like: the plates are just pretty. Someone in the kitchen is paying some attention to how dishes look. Ingredients and proportions are well balanced- you don't get a bunch of filler ingredients with a dish you order. Ordering drunken noodle with chicken for example, you won't see 75% green bell pepper on your plate with scant chicken parts. Proportions. I like super spicy- when I ask many restaurants for 5 on 1-5 spice scale, rarely do they actually do it. But Simply Thai will make me sweat if I ask for Thai spicy, and I appreciate that. Aside from this, service is always fast and with a smile, every time. The place is clean and relaxed when I go. Always tasty. read more

We have been looking for a good lunch spot since the wife took a job in the area a few months ago. We gave this place a shot. We arrived about 1135am on a Tuesday. We were immediately seated and our drink orders were taken. Thai is not one of our common meals, so we needed an extra minute with the menu. But then the waitress didn't return for almost ten minutes. The chairs are wooden and somewhat uncomfortable. When a customer would go to sit and pull the chair out, it would make this horribly loud dragging sound that startles the whole restaurant. We finally ordered and the spring rolls came out first. A few minutes later came the California rolls. After that, it was quite a long wait for Udon noodle soup and the drunken noodles lunch special. We had been there so long by this point, I asked for the check right then in fear of being back to work late. We paid and got out of there and made it back to work just in time. It was definitely too long and I'm hoping we just caught them on an off day. The food was good, but the wife is reluctant to return for lunch due to the speed of service that day. read more

This hidden gem in Elon is awesome! The decor is great, and the owner is fantastic. We sat at the bar and he was the one making our sushi for us. He even went so far as to explain the process and telling us about how he learned his craft. Beware, this is not family restaurant. The prices are high and the atmosphere is more suited to a date night / anniversary. I will be back .... once I save some $$$. read more

Simply Thai has become one of my favorite Asian restaurants, with an extensive menu of quality Thai dishes and sushi. It's located just outside of Elon, NC, in a small strip mall, which I discovered some time ago while out geocaching. I'm quite taken with the restaurant's atmosphere inside, and the staff is always very courteous and efficient. The sushi is consistently fresh and delicious, though on at least one occasion the quantity for the combination dinner, which is not inexpensive, struck me as little more than an appetizer, which prompted me to hold back a star on the rating. The Larb entree salad -- which I've had with both chicken and beef -- rates as one of my favorite dishes on the menu, and their crispy fish fresh spring rolls are the best I've had anywhere. Grew up on Vietnamese food and the steak noodle soup was authentic and delicious. The only place near Burlington with great steak noodle soup. However our waitress brought us salads half way through our entrees, kept coming over unneededly to flirted with my date, and split our checks wrong. I've been here maybe 3 times and I've lived in the area 11 years now. Not sure how long this has been open but is been several years now. The food is good/okay but nothing impressive. If you're really in the mood for this type of food and a nicer setting, then yeah okay. The service is terrible. It took forever to get the food out and the last time we were there, our server pretty much deserted us after taking our order. I don't think we saw her again until it was time for the check. For the price of the food, it's just not worth the headache of the terrible service. I'd rather go somewhere else! read more

Very slow service. No A/C took 45 mins to get 3 sushi rolls. And only a handful of tables. Was also told they only had 1 cook today.

"Simply Amazing" should be the name of this restaurant. Food: I didn't love the summer wraps, but I've now learned that I just don't like that item regardless of who prepares it, so that doesn't go into my rating. They weren't bad, I do know that. Boyfriend liked them and the sauce was good. Red curry with seafood was awesome. It contained seafood. That might seem like a silly thing to point out, but many other Thai joints charge extra for "seafood" and only give you a couple shrimp and maybe a bite or two of squid. This was shrimp, squid, and mussels, and appropriately "Thai hot," which is also a rarity. Boyfriend is a sushi newbie but liked his "four seasons" roll and the miso soup. Both of our dishes looked great in terms of presentation. Service: Oh. My. God. Best waitress ever. We were taken care of...our water glasses never went dry and she was always available, but she wasn't OBVIOUS about it. We were able to have our date night and have a nice waitress, yet not an overbearing one. She offered us things, but didn't force them, and she cleared our obviously finished app plates without interrupting our conversation. Drinks: Yeah, I ordered an $11 cocktail. That was way more than I normally spend on one drink, but I nursed it throughout the entire meal and left feeling a bit tipsy, so I don't think it was overpriced at all...in fact, that pomegranate tequila thing might be their hidden gem. Boyfriend had Sapporo, appropriately priced. All in all? Everyone needs to go here. I want to check out their lunch specials as well, but it was an awesome date night. read more

Great service, trendy atmosphere, and excellent food! Simply Thai has surprisingly good sushi rolls. They have a very creative menu with high quality ingredients. The "Elon Smack Roll" is my personal favorite - very unique. The interior of this restaurant is intricately designed and a great location for a romantic date or a group of friends. One you're inside the restaurant, you feel like you're in a trendy city restaurant rather than Elon, NC! They occasionally have live jazz music and always seem to have some discount, depending on the day of the week (it shows up on our check, even though we never expect it - sometimes 20% off sushi rolls, or buy one get one 50% off). The sushi here is the best. It is always fresh. They can be slow so don't get in a hurry. The drunken noodles are delicious.

I absolutely love their sushi. I'm not a huge Thai fan. So I don't know how their other plates taste. But I do know their sushi is the bomb. I hope this helps! read more

Have eaten here several times and everytime it seems that there prices get higher and portion size smaller. The only time to eat here is at lunch Mon-Friday b/c you can get an entrée and spring roll for $6.95. Any other time that same entrée (same size and everything) is $14 and up depending on choice of meat and no spring roll. So we went for Sunday lunch, of course no weekend specials and we spent $30 for lunch and left hungry. Will not be coming here again. I will continue to eat at Dan Thai as their prices are better and better portions. It is a shame b/c Simply Thai has very good food, just not enough for what you pay. read more

I am a frequent customer at Simply Thai, as it has the best sushi around Elon. I am kind of skittish when it comes to sushi and need it to be perfect in order for me to enjoy it, and Simply Thai delivers every time. I get the Hawaiian Tropics roll, which is spicy tuna and cucumber on the inside and mango and avocado on the outside and it is spectacular. I have also had the fresh summer wraps (with chicken) and those are delicious, (the dipping sauce is to die for). All of my friends who I have brought here have also had rave reviews. So glad this place is walking distance from my dorm! read more

Heard a great deal about this place before finally making it there for lunch. The decor was elegant but semi casual. A great atmosphere for daily lunch or date night. I had the drunken noodles with chicken, and It was excellent. Service was outstanding and the portions (lunch) were more than acceptable. I will say, if you are the type that places quantity over quality, this place may not be for you. The dish was well prepared with the noodles not being overcooked. The spicy touch was noticeable but not over powering. The crunchy snow peas were a nice addition. I hope to be able to return for dinner very soon. read more

Stopped in for lunch. The entrance is very oddly placed making you walk by two clearly marked doors around a corner behind the building which is odd. The sushi bar seems nice though I was with a coworker so we sat and had lunch. I ordered the lunch special and a sushi roll. The food was very good, flavorful and well seasoned. The service was attentive but seemed forgetful, for instance she asked twice if I would like refill if my drink and I replied yes only for nothing to appear and for me to have to ask. Also if you plan on being served and eating in anywhere less than an hour you can forget it...extremely slow kitchen and even the sushi roll took like 20 min. Good food avg service odd location and slow kitchen make this a place I wouldn't go out of my way to visit again. read more

My family and I came here for my Grandpa's birthday. We chose this place because it is near and located in peaceful area in Elon. We were really impressed with the atmosphere, from the decorations, lights, to the tables, it is very elegant. The service is amazing, all of the crew were sweet, polite and always ready to help. It is truly perfect for intimate gatherings. They have a lot of choices from the menu. We started with an appetizer called Thai Sampler Platter that includes shrimp in blanket, vegetable and chicken spring rolls, chicken satay, money bags and crispy tofu. I tried each one and they were amazing! You will be satisfied with the appetizers alone. Then, we ordered our entrees. My grandma and I got the fried rice with seafood, it was very good. It was very well cooked and the taste was wonderful. My Aunt ordered a duck, which we all shared. And again it was amazing! It was tender and flavorful. And of course, the rest of the family enjoyed their meal choices as well. The drinks were also very good. I had pink lemonade and had 3 refills of it. Before we left, I used the bathroom and again I was impressed! It was clean and you will have that "at home" feeling. I wanted to give 5 stars but we were not so happy about the prices, it was a little high for our budget. Simply Thai is a pretty average Asian restaurant. The menu is pretty confusing and seems like it was just kind of thrown together on the fly. The menu essentially has you pick a protein and then a way you would like it prepared. The Chef specialties aren't necessarily cheap and lack originality and creativity. The presentation of the specialty dishes were disappointing and came with an embarrassingly low amount of rice. I would come back to try the sushi. Unfortunately this time they said the sushi would take 40 minutes to get. The restaurant isn't that big so I guess there was only one sushi chef available. The decor is very nice, but there's really nothing you couldn't get at PF Chang's or Pei Wei. read more
