The place was empty but we decided to try since we were already in the plaza. It's decorated like a sports bar, not an Asian restaurant. Food came out quickly. It was bad... we couldn't even eat the meat. The broth overflowed the bowl. Asked for steamed sprouts and they came out boiled and wet/soggy in the basket. The veggies they give a very small amount... not even enough for one person. The soup itself was oily. The flavor was ok. The entire spoonful of soup was greasy. My guest couldn't eat at all. The noodles were over cooked and mushy. The meat was in chunks not slices and it was chewy and gamey. The meat was inedible. Neither of us at any meat as shown in the photo. No one came to check on us even once and I had to call them by yelling past the drapes so we could pay. I told the woman working about the meat and she couldn't care less. She was rude and condescending. Her only response to anything was yeah well sorry about that. I will never step foot in this place again. Piss poor service and the food was inedible. I should have followed my gut from my last visit and stayed clear. It's definitely on my no way list now.

Tofu pad Thai. 6 small pieces of floppy tofu (soft) no peanuts or egg. Very disappointed.

Pho is decent for Burlington. $4 up charge to add a few pieces of broccoli and carrots. Broth has good flavor. Pad Thai is disappointing.

Food was very good. Started with chicken spring roll. Girlfreind had the pho combo which she liked and I had the chicken hibachi.

Visiting for the weekend and my friend took me here. We ordered take out and while we waited had a beer at the bar. They have a wide selection of beer and liquor, they also have a pool table and some nice music playing. The place probably has around eight tables, nice quaint spot. Everyone there was very nice and friendly! I had the shrimp hibachi and my friend ordered the shrimp pho. The hibachi was very good, nice big shrimp and the broccoli was seasoned very nicely. The rice was a little salty, didn't need any soy sauce. Next time I would ask for extra broccoli. My friend enjoyed her pho, she eats there at least once a week.

I have been looking for pho spots since moving to the area early this year & this was my best find. Compared to 'saigon' down the street, they blow them out the water. We had the whole place to ourselves, waitress was awesome & friendly, playlist was fire, they even have a pool table! We had the fried chicken egg rolls, beef pho & combo pho. Egg rolls were a bit underwhelming but still tasted good! The Pho was AHMAHHHZZINNNGG. I will continue to eat here regularly, that's a fact.

Nice service and the hibachi beef with fried rice is excellent! Sweet tea is good, too, which is important to this Southern gal.

Agree, best Pho in Burlington! The fried chicken spring rolls were also delicious. Causal atmosphere. Polite service.

Went here with a party of 4 and waited for 40 minutes for sub-par food. I ordered the beef pho and it was alright, but not worth waiting 40 minutes for. There seemed to be only 3 employees working so that may have been the reason. Lastly, the long wait time gave us plenty of time to observe the questionable sanitation of the restaurant.

The ambience is laid back with soft lighting, and depending on what time you arrive, you're either seated right away or there's usually only about a 10-15 minute wait, which is never too bad. The tables are always clean and set with fresh chili oil (super fresh and spicy), hoisin sauce, sriracha, and soy sauce. I ordered the pad Thai noodles with chicken, and it was so delicious. If you're looking for something savory, soft, and really satisfying, definitely try the pad Thai. Their drunken noodles are also up there as one of my favorites. Overall, this is definitely one of my comfort spots!

Not really a fair standard, I know, but it's what I prefer. So, for something like pho, with such a rich, meaty broth, and often chock full of meat, I struggle to enjoy it at times, despite my love of spicy, savory foods. This is all to say, I was thrilled to find that Pho Hien Vuong not only has a vegetable option (which most places do), but several combinations of just vegetables or with tofu, in either beef broth or a vegetable broth. I don't see that too often. I went the truly vegetarian route, with tofu and their made-in-house vegetable broth. The broth, despite its distinct lack of meat, was rich, flavorful, and deep. There were an abundance of toppings, and in addition to the included tofu and vegetables, I added jalapeño, bean sprouts, basil, lime, chili crisp, and sriracha. It was a fantastic meal, and while I could not come close to finishing the absolutely massive serving, I enjoyed every bite I did eat. Our server was quick and attentive, despite the restaurant being jam packed with a line out the door (a testament to its popularity, and by extension, its quality and value!). Tables were large enough to spread out on, everything was clean, and the volume level wasn't too bad even with that many people. I see many more visits to Pho Hien Vuong in my future.

So PHOing good! (Not sure if that breaks Yelp's terms of service but I'm living on the edge today.)…read more This local family run spot has it down. An unassuming place from the outside, but a great interior space that is clean and inviting. Couldn't believe how fast service was, and how fast the amazing food came out. It was a weekday lunch, but it filled up quickly, and the well oiled machine was running smoothly in here. The food is top notch. Started with a fresh spring roll that was full of flavor. It was huge, no skimping here. And for $2.50 it's a steal. Went with the lunch shrimp pho for $11.50. Everything for lunch is $9.50-$11.50, and the rest of the menu is also well priced. I couldn't believe the size of this lunch portion. Whoever said size doesn't matter in regard to food is kidding themselves. And the size wasn't the biggest surprise...this was one of the best pho dishes I've ever had! The separate plated bean sprouts, Thai basil, jalapeños, and lime were unbelievably fresh. The beef broth was full of flavor (choice of chicken broth as well), shrimp perfectly cooked, and noodles delicious. I can't say enough about the extra chili crisp sauce on the side. This is gold. Took the flavor to a whole other level. I can't wait to come back and try more of the menu. This spot is top notch, and the prices are very affordable, especially given the portion size and top quality food. Go...you won't be disappointed.

That disqualifies it from being a hole-in-the-wall, but owing to its location, it is still a hidden gem. The service remains fast and friendly and the food excellent. For this visit, I forced myself to try something other than their stellar pho and went with a fresh roll and a beef banh mi. The fresh roll, filled with shrimp, noodles, and cucumber, was crisp and paired nicely with a peanut sauce. The banh mi's baguette didn't reach Banh Mi Saigon levels, but in fairness, nothing does. It was still a tasty sandwich, offering plenty of beef and toppings (pickled vegetables, cilantro, and jalapenos) alike. I may not get out to this area of Greensboro very often, but when I do, Jakjin is my go-to lunch option. Do yourself a favor and make it yours as well.

Ordered the bbq beef sandwich and an order of spring rolls with their peanut sauce. In addition to the fresh ingredients, the bread is still quite tasty. I do enjoy the bbq flavor of the beef, just enough jalapeño slices to give a bit of spice. The veggies are a good balance of crunch with the bite. We grabbed a few of items from the trays in front to tide us over sat down to eat those and made a plan to run to Super G Mart then come back. We always get the shrimp summer rolls and they were amazing as always. I just love them! We tried some mochi dumplings which had a paste type filling. I liked the flavor but the filling texture wasn't my favorite. We also got a gelatinous rice stuffed with pork and wood ear mushrooms wrapped in a banana leaf. The filling was nice but the texture was again something that wasn't my favorite so my husband got to eat it all by himself. We got a Che(dessert in Vietnamese) from the reach in refrigerator that was delicious. Later, we came back for Banh Mi. We ordered the #4 with Pork and the #5 New Orleans which was chunks of more savory roasted pork. The two Banh Mi were similar but when I tasted the meat it had distinct flavor differences. I loved both of them and would not hesitate to order either in the future. Earlier in the day, the line was quite long and the tables were full of happy customers. Later when we returned, it was less crowded but still a steady stream of people coming and going. Kudos for how hard these guys work because they never get a break.

Tucked inside a plaza shared with a Food Lion, it isn't much to look at inside or out. However, some of the best Vietnamese and Thai places are these too-easily ignored hole-in-the-wall joints, and Kalm proved to be no exception. In addition to a few banh mi options, Kalm's menu includes rice and noodle dishes, apps, boba tea, poke, and pho. There are several vegetarian selections as well as a kid's menu. If I didn't have a specific craving, I might have had a hard time choosing as several other dishes looked good. I went with a classic Banh Mi Dac Biet (roast pork, sausage, and veggies on a baguette). Kalm's preparation was different than I've had elsewhere: they serve the sandwich deconstructed with cilantro, cucumbers, carrot, daikon, and jalapeños on the side. This preempts patrons from picking out any toppings they don't like. At any rate, the banh mi definitely hit the spot. The bread was very warm and flaky, and the meats were flavorful. The cucumbers, daikon, and carrots offered a refreshing balance to their saltiness. Service here is also great. I got a greeting when I walked in, my order was taken and prepared quickly, and everyone was pleasant and polite throughout the meal. For those despairing about Burlington's food options, you needn't have to drive far to find some welcome variety. Support local, keep Kalm, and carry on.

We were one of about 7 to 8 tables present in a restaurant, with only one server working. Even then, we were promptly serviced, and didn't have to wait a long time at all for our food Altogether, we ended up ordering one order of shrimp egg rolls, one order of veggie egg rolls, one order of shrimp summer rolls, two beef and meatball pho, one combination pho, and one chicken pho. Everything was brought out piping hot, and of course, the pho herbs, condiments, and veggies were super fresh and served in abundance The eggrolls all came out hot and fresh. The wrappers were perfectly crispy on the outside, and the filling was fresh on the inside. I did not taste the summer rolls, but everyone said they were excellent. I personally had the combination pho and wish it had a little bit more meat. I would say the amount was less than at other Vietnamese restaurants, but overall it was still really delicious and filling. The noodles were perfectly cooked, and the broth was perfectly seasoned. The total for the table was only $75, which I felt was reasonable for four people and the amount of food we received. Overall, a solid Vietnamese restaurant in Winston. I had the Banh Mi at What Da Pho in the past and remember it was good so that's what I ordered this time. Additionally we ordered crab wontons and summer rolls. The restaurant is a little hidden but if you park in the parking structure adjacent to the restaurant it's super easy to get inside. First impressions are it's quiet- no music in the dining room, and the decor is sort of an afterthought with scotch tape holding LED lights to the walls and some Asian inspired pictures but not very well thought out. It's Ok, I'm not coming for the decor. The service is a little lacking. They are giving the bare minimum here so don't expect your server to be too friendly. The crab wontons and summer rolls arrived quickly. The crab wontons were super hot and crispy right from the deep fryer. They were filled with a delicious imitation crab and cream cheese mixture and when dipped in the sweet chili sauce they were exactly the thing I was craving. The summer rolls were equally as fresh and delicious. The filling of cold rice noodles, crisp lettuce and shrimp then dipped in the accompanying peanut sauce was just as delicious. We ordered one pork and one beef Banh Mi. The first thing I noticed was how plentiful the meat was in each one. Usually it's a light sandwich but these were very hefty in comparison to others I've had. My meat was very savory and had a very tender texture, almost like pot roast. It was also the juiciest pork I've ever had in a Banh mi. The picked vegetables were also really good but both our sandwiches were missing the jalapeno I've come to expect. My husband really enjoyed his beef one as well but we both noticed how the bread lacked that crusty flaky quality that Vietnamese baguettes normally have. This was more of a sub roll with a chewy texture and softer crust. The flavors were great, I just missed the textures I have come to expect in an authentic Banh mi. Our spot in Greensboro will still be my favorite but when I don't want to trek out that far, I can get my fix at What Da Pho.
