Very disappointed with this place. I called about 10-15 minutes before arriving to ask about the lunch special, and they told me it was still available. I drove over right away, but when I got there, the doors were closed with a sign saying they'd be back in 45 minutes. There was no mention of this on the phone, which wasted my time and effort. Good food, poor service. I used to come here years ago before moving out of town and always had a hankering for their food. I finally had a chance to go back and the place looks exactly the same--dark and greasy. The food however, used to be some of our favorite. For an appetizer, try their cheesy fatoush or their baba ghanouj. The shish tawouk plate with rice is our favorite. You must try their green spicy sauce and cool it down with some yoghurt sauce. Disappointed that they stopped serving our favorite dessert, knafeh. Unfortunately, the service continues to be some of the worst in town. It appears that the owner's sons/family friends are running the front and back of the house and they are often distracted by the television or their cell phones. Their tea usually tastes old as well. I visit Sinbad for one dish and one dish only...the chicken curry plate. My husband brought me to this restaurant many years ago and it's what I fell in love with. The chicken is good with the right amount of sauce, and the rice is tasty and compliments the chicken curry well. I also love that it comes with a spicy green sauce. I have ventured off and bought a few other menu items, but I always come back to the curry. The only reason I give this restaurant 3 stars and not more is because I feel that the atmosphere can be updated. It feels very dark and outdated. I dined in once years ago and it felt dingy. Fast forward to over five years later, and it's still exactly the same. I usually order for take out and enjoy at home. Overall, I do recommend some aspects of this restaurant. Today we came by Sinbad to pick up the falafel appetizer and a beef shawarma. For the falafel, we felt that it was pretty good by itself but could have been more flavorful. It was a lot better in our opinion when dipped in one of their sauces. The beef shawarma was so tasty! The pita bread was super fresh, and the flavor was exactly what we wanted. I asked the server what is there most popular entrée, and he recommended the Combo plate. It was a yummy, filling plate of grilled chicken, gyro meat and minced-meat skewers that comes with a choice of rice or salad. Feeling carb loading-ish, I went with the rice, and also enjoyed the yogurt sauce and spicy green sauce that came on the side. This is a big meal - counts as lunch and dinner! The rice was well-cooked and the meat was all tender and flavorful. The place is kind of a whole in the wall, and there were only a couple tables of people that seemed comfortable, like regulars. Sometime last week a friend and I decided to meet up for lunch. Luckily for me, this was one of my friends that gets a kick out of picking places I've never been (which I thoroughly enjoy since I'm usually the one that has to amaze others with my impeccable taste in local foodie destinations). She immediately chose Sinbad to which I did a quick background check on *cough*Yelp*cough*. Needless to say it passed my prerequisite qualifications (hey, I like to be an informed consumer). As soon as we arrived I realized this is the place in the Cinci district that I always tell myself I'm going to try, but never have because it's always closed when I'm in the area. A simple sign above the door, no outdoor seating, no tale-tell signs of what I'd be walking into so I prepared myself for anything. Okay the inside isn't that great. It's a hole-in-the-wall, what do you expect? It does have a very family feel to it regardless of the service (we'll get to that right after this) that makes you feel right at home. The booths and tables look worn, but I kind of didn't mind. And I will say the booths were quite large, they could easily seat six. You pay at the register on the small counter towards the back left. Really there isn't a whole lot going on inside. I did feel comfortable in general...again, at home, if you will. But I felt like the ugly stepsister and not the good kind of ugly stepsister where your mom runs sh!t because she married a handsomely rich merchant, the bad kind of ugly stepsister where your dad cares more about the new b-word and her stuck up b-word of a daughter than you and they occasionally forget to feed you. We weren't greeted upon arrival, getting a recommendation was a tad hard, our server rarely checked on us, and we had to ask multiple times for the same thing. It's clearly ran by a family (and maybe their close friends), but they need to do a little customer service training. I decided to go with the Combo Plate because that had the most variety so I could get the most out of this experience. The great news is the food is on point! The Combo Plate comes with Gyro meat, Shish Tawouk, and Kafta and a side of salad or rice. I opted for the salad since I knew my friend would be getting the rice and I could steal off her plate. The Gyro meat was thick cuts of lamb, pretty standard and since it came with a side of Tzatziki sauce I'm 98.4% sure that their Gyros are thebombdotcom. The Shish Tawouk which is a curried chicken was surprisingly my favorite. The smaller chunks of chicken dipped in the spicy avocado mix (I don't want to call it guacamole because it's definitely not that) was really good. The Kafta was actually best with the Tzatziki and a bit of the yellow rice I kept stealing. It's a ground meat fried and I found that if you just order the Kafta, it also comes with pan-fried tomatoes on top (so yum). After waiting a good 20 minutes for our check, we were finally leaving and my friend decided to grab some Baklava. It could've been a lot more crisp on top, but I liked the flavors and after looking at a few pictures on their Facebook, I'm definitely going to be trying their Warbat (think Baklava minus the nuts, plus cream cheese). read more

Our server was very young and he was nice and friendly. We ordered several things as we were encouraging our cousins to try some of the foods we like. We had hummus, baba ganoush, dolmeh (stuffed grape leaves) and falafel (probably the vegetarian plate. We had chicken skewers, beef skewers, some sort of shawarma, gyro meat. (Combo plate an Shawarma plate, I think)... oh, and also Tabouleh! I think we also had baklava. Everything was very good, and the only feedback I would have (and I missed to provide on the spot) is for them to clean their napkin holders, salt shakers, etc. Oh my, the napkin holders were greasy and nasty : ( I do not know if my companions noticed but that ruined the whole experience for me. read more

Taking everything to account (not just the food) this place is average at best. My 4 and 5 star reviews are reserved for places that are an absolute must when visiting here, and my experience at Sinbad just didn't fit the mold. Make no mistake, the food itself is good, but the decor, service, pricing, and overall experience was lacking. There are plenty of Mediterranean and Greek style restaurants that are just as good if not better than this place. I got the falafel sandwich with feta cheese and paid $6.47 including tax. I waited about 40 minutes for my food (which is fine because there appeared to be only one employee working there) but by the time I got my food, the falafel was very soggy. And the fact that he brought out everyone's food around the same time leads me to believe that he cooked everyone's meals at once, finished mine a bit early and applied the sauce to it and left it there until he finished cooking and then began handing it out to everyone. Of course by that time because the sauce was probably sitting on it for over 10 minutes or so, it was soggy. He should have waited to put the sauce on it. I could almost forgive that but I love falafel when its got a crunch to it and it is meant to be crunchy so I just can't give them a higher review than this. Perhaps I'll come in another time and try it again and change my review, but based on my experience, this is as high as it gets - I would still recommend that people go though. SAAALTY. I have been ordering from Sinbad for around 10 years and the quality sure has declined. I ordered a Vegetarian Plate recently and the hummus and babaganoush tasted as if an entire salt shaker fell into the batch. I think it was created with simply too much salt. While it was pleasantly tangy, with lemon juice as expected, the massive amount of salt ruined an otherwise pleasant and simple, Lebanese standard. Price discrepancies were another issue. On yelp the price is listed as 10.99 but on the physical menu it is listed as 13.99. Ordering take-out, through Yelp's number I assumed the price would be consistent, but they opted for the unlisted price with a total of around $15. For ridiculously salted food. I would like to give them another chance and return someday, but I may never eat there again. read more

It's been quite a number of years since I was last here. Other than the building's facade, nothing has changed. The food is good and the portions are well sized. The service has never been anything to write home about and it's still not. It's easy to get the server's attention as the place is relatively small. This place has remarkable food! And they are really friendly with kids, we have toddler twins who made a mess and they just laughed with us instead of giving us bad vibes. This is a great, quiet place to go to for some authentic Lebanese food. I am a big fan of their gyros and falafel sandwiches! Ooh and if you have a sweet tooth, you simply must try their baklava! It is hard to find baklava that isn't too sweet or sticky, but Sinbad's hits it right on the nail. The staff is always nice and knowledgeable about their menu items. I went to this restaurant tonight and ordered the stuffed grape leaves and the falafel. The grape leaves were small, the rice inside was gooshy, and they were smothered in olive oil. The were not really good. The falafel was ok, but I've had better. It comes with a salad. The salad was iceberg lettuce, under-ripe tomatoes, and cucumbers, dressed with olive oil. Not that exciting. All in all, I'd say don't waste your money here... go down the road a bit to Jerusalem and get good food. read more

We stopped by this place based off of other yelp reviews, and I am so glad we did! I was bit skeptical as we first walked in, the atmosphere was nothing special. But as soon as we tasted the Foul (a bean dip appetizer that we dipped with fresh pita bread) I knew we were in for a treat. I ended up ordering the gyro sandwich which was by far the most moist, and delicious cut of lamb I've had in a gyro. And my husband ordered a three meat platter that was just as amazing.
