Cute little couches through out the room too - perfect for when opening gifts. They have a nice speaker system for music and you can connect via Bluetooth. Also looked like they had a projector if needed but we didn't use. Nick was helpful and the Mill provided tables, table cloths, and a backdrop for photos. I had the opportunity to stay here a year ago for a work function, and then more recently for a quick getaway. For its age, the rooms are pretty spacious. The rooms have been remodeled (although the paint on the wall of one room was peeling). Check in and out is quick and easy. The restaurant is seasonal so it was closed this last visit. The previous visit, the food was good and priced well. The staff accommodated 50 of us with no problem. As the property is adjacent to the marina, access is easy. There is an indoor pool as well. There are restaurants off site close by (I recommend the golf course). I would definitely recommend a lakeside room for a great view.

We walked in, greeted immediately by a very sweet friendly girl, asked for a seat outside and were accommodated and sat immediately. It was a Sunday at 6:15, very few tables were occupied inside and out. It was breezy and comfortable. They offered to attempt to find us someone to open the umbrella the rest of the way (it had a plastic knife shoved in there, I assume to keep it halfway opened) but we had shade so we declined. We got water and our order taken very quickly by an attentive server, drinks served quickly. Things were looking good. After we ordered we waited quite awhile but that was ok, we expected to get our appetizer and just relax while we ate. After quite a while the server shows up with the appetizer AND our entrees. I was not happy. What about an appetizer says it comes out with the meal, you are barely busy inside and now we have to shove it all in fast so our meal isn't cold when we hurriedly get to it. If you can't serve an appetizer as an appetizer, you obviously have time management as well as leadership issues in your kitchen. Bang bang shrimp: Shrimp was good sized. Cooked well. Tasted like it was dipped in that awful cornmeal bagged type "breading" you buy at a local grocery store and then topped in that fake "Bang Bang Shrimp" recipe you find on Facebook that people swear is a copycat of Bonefish Grill. Fish and chips: Again that awful cornmeal bagged breading taste. Cod without it was actually good, that breading made it so off putting. Coleslaw: Cabbage with a dollop of what seemed to be just mayo. My husband said that is the worst coleslaw I have ever tasted. It went untouched. Tartar sauce: Just a ton of mayo and little seasoning. Fries: Actually delicious. Pizza: Come on now...it's obviously a frozen disaster. If they are really trying to claim they make the dough...find someone new to learn how to make dough, it's very easy. It's like actual flavorless cardboard. My husband said I think they buy frozen pizza and top it with these uncooked veggies (they were so underdone he scraped them all off to try to eat it unsuccessfully and I refused to even finish a slice) and call it their own. Those tomato's needed another week to ripen. It came home with us and he threw it away when we got here. Drinks: Strong and good. Service: GREAT Food quality: Cheap tasting and felt like it was grabbed from a freezer. Worth the price: Absolutely not, the view is pretty but skip the food, grab a drink and go home to cook for yourself. Recommend as whole: NO *Please do not message me asking me to discuss, to change my review or invite me back...my opinion is my opinion, I won't return and it won't be changed.

I recently attended my first event at Whippoorwill Hill, a high school class reunion. My parents…read morehad previously visited the venue, and they told me how beautiful it was... but until I turned onto the drive, I don't think their description did it justice! Soybeans were planted on both sides of the drive, reminding me of my grandparents' farmland in Greene County. As you come over the hill and see the event barn, especially as I arrived around sunset, it was just stunning! The barn and other buildings on the property date to the 1800s, some of the oldest in Monroe County. I'm a sucker for historic preservation (I'm in the DAR and have a Revolutionary/Hoosier pioneer ancestor buried within half an hour of this place!) so it makes me happy to see the care that the Lucas family has put into both their farm and their event venue. Despite its long history, the barn itself has a modern feel perfect for that rustic farmhouse aesthetic, much like many of the very expensive new construction event barns that are popping up all over the Nashville, TN area where I live. It's so pretty both in daylight and evening that you can't go wrong with your timing. The views are unobstructed from all sides, a perfect little piece of rural paradise not too far from IN-37. I love small businesses, but especially those that are locally owned and Veteran owned. Whippoorwill Hill is both. If you're planning a wedding, craft fair/market, reunion, or just about any other kind of event where you'd like a custom experience with a beautiful Hoosier setting, this place is for you!

This venue is exceptional…read more As the mother of the groom, I was able to be involved in some of the planning as well as the event itself. This venue is absolutely beautiful. The space is perfect for your needs and the get ready area for the bride is exceptional. The venue holds regular meet and greets with vendors which really allows you to meet with them in a relaxed way and then meet more formally if needed. The day of the event could not have gone better. We had no issues at all and all of our vendors were excellent. The venue and teams worked so well together that I could not even think of anything that was not point. Even with some rain on its way, everything was planned out and replanned if needed. Truthfully we never really saw the staff, because they moved so flawlessly with everything. This is a must visit to see if it fits your needs, but know that you will have the best service imaginable and the venue is beautiful using the indoor space and the outdoor space! Would highly recommend this venue for any event that you need.

The spaces are incredibly flexible which makes it easy to hold an event here. The Bloomington Handmade Market had the entire second floor completely open to fit all of their awesome, local vendors. Recently, the Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce transformed the second floor into a few smaller rooms (used for personal business panels) and also had a bigger, open area available for their keynote speakers. The best part though?! The huge, free parking lot just steps outside the entrance to the building. So convenient and so rare to find at a convention center.

Located just down the road from the golf course and Selma, Bailey's Place has been beautifully landscaped to hold events, wedding ceremonies, etc. I was visiting here for a wedding. It's a gorgeous setup with an arbor, that the bride and groom got married under. There was seating set up in front of the arbor for guest. Behind the arbor was a cabin, that can be used for wedding party to get ready. But also can be used for receptions or having the wedding in. I believe this was the backup if it had rained. There isn't necessarily a parking lot, but a grassy area this is designated for parking. And lots of trees for shading.

We booked it for both a corporate event for our California business and also a personal party in 2015 to entertain friends within a one hour flight from Chicago. I was referred to it by a guy in New York who was looking for a place to entertain two sets of clients, one in in Lexington and one in Louisville, at a central location around the Oaks and to do the Bourbon trail one day. It is a midpoint location part way between. They have a unique high ceiling apartment rental next door that I think you can rent in conjunction with the event space. The unit is huge. I stayed one day while I was siting my party weekend. That makes for a great place for the wedding party say or to entertain the most important clients at your event. Both the space and the loft are very unique and have a much younger/modern vibe compared to the traditional decor and architecture for this town. There is a good Mexican restaurant next door. I really liked the open layout, you could decorate it however you liked if you wanted to do a theme, but it also looks great with the minimalist shop lights and functional sliding warehouse-style door. I don't want to quote prices because it probably depends but I was surprised how reasonable it was, talk to them yourself... The primary drawbacks as I see it is there is nothing else to rent like this within 20 miles, so I probably will have to rent it several years in advance and I tend to have a hard time planning work events too far in advance so it may be booked before my 16 and 17 event is planned. I talked to Kevin, who was very informative and down to earth. I met with an owner there also who happened to be dropping by to weigh in on some details. He is a broker in this town and said he did this as a creative outlet (enjoys rehabbing historic properties) and to increase the demand for permanent housing nearby as he is an investor, so that is how he can justify to rent it out at what I calc'd to be below-market rates for this type of space. If you like modern style, high ceilings and flexible space with a nod to the past and walkability to nearby goods and services(huge factor for us) is a big consideration for you, this is your thing. Check it out for yourself ... I think you will agree with what I am saying though- the place is sharp and this town had needed something like it for a long time. Look forward to many events here.

Down side to the location is finding it! But- once you do- it so neat and special!!! To the owners- you may want to paint the back door a funky bright color for parkers that park behind the venue to find the right entrance!! And painting the front door the same! We were a bit confused of where to get in... But that seems to be an easy fix!
