Been watching out for Single Tree Wood Fire BBQ for a while now, and they were at Panther Creek Brewery tonight. At Panther Creek tried a half-pour of Tres Reyes...this is an impressive Mexican Lager, clean, full flavored with a hint of lime doesn't overpower the beer. Picked up a 4-pack to go along with dinner tonight! Met Charlie Eblen, owner of Single Tree Wood Fire BBQ and Army Veteran. The food trailer is cool and love the smoker on the "back patio" and the scent of BBQ coming from the kitchen. I selected the Sampler Platter consisting of pulled pork, cheddar jalapeño sausage, and brisket with cole slaw and added potato salad. I have to say...Charlie smokes up some pretty darn good BBQ. The sausage was delicious and had some lasting heat to it along with great pork flavors. The pulled pork moist and tender and stood up well even without BBQ sauce. The brisket was spot on tender with solid smoke and the peppered bark really complimented the meat. The BBQ sauce really worked well with everything, good flavor, with a light touch of vinegar. The sides were good and I liked the addition of colored peppers to the red skin potato salad...nice touch. Good food and great folks running the show...glad to finally have been able to enjoy food from this truck. read more

I'm sure I'm an annoying bbq snob from Texas to all my friends and family, but the bbq in middle Tennessee is subpar at best, and I've been everywhere. I judge a place by its brisket. Anyone can get pulled pork and ribs done in a passable manner. However, brisket takes some skill. So I decided to continue my disappointing quest for bbq worth a damn in this state. My wife and I were debating where to go for date night and I threw Single Tree out for consideration. Due to knowing this woman since we were in high school I fully expected her to veto Single Tree because she generally doesn't want bbq... ever. Not today! For some strange reason my healthy eating wife wanted fatty smoked meat and heavy sides. Well... as you already know, I gave this place 5 stars. I have never given any bbq joint in Tennessee 5 stars. This place earned it. Everything was great. The fried pickles were a thicker pickle, the brisket was cut thick and fatty with perfectly rendered fat and pull. The Mac n Cheese was some of the best I've had and same for the baked beans. Truly I would give them 4.5 stars due to personal preference for a less sweet more tangy sauce and theirs is straight sweet. But then again, when you know how to smoke meats like these guys, you don't need any sauce. And this stuff... doesn't need sauce. read more

I want to preface this with the fact that I grew up in Texas eating Texas Style BBQ. Pork BBQ isn't really my thing, it's all about the chicken and the beef. Any business can have an on-point Social Media Strategy, and Single Tree is really good at finding customers looking for them online. But once in the door, no amount of PR and Marketing wizardry will make up for inconsistent food and service. So for my first visit, I went simple on a take-out order, a chicken leg quarter, and a side of salad. They provide a container of sauce for the chicken, but it was so tender, fall off the bone, and delicious, it would have been sacrilege for me to add sauce of any type to chicken this good. And this is how it should be. For what I paid I got a good size leg quarter and a huge "side" salad. The restaurant itself is a hole in the wall, very plain and simple with a few TV's and a wall of photos honoring (I'm assuming) local service personnel. But you know it's good when the smoker is within easy reach of your table, and theirs is sitting right outside in the parking lot. I look forward to returning and enjoying some brisket and macaroni and cheese. My only complaint is that unlike some of the places I grew up going to in Texas, they don't have a pick 2 or 3 meat combo plate nor do they have the option to change proteins in a prepared item. I would love to try their BBQ Burrito, Redneck Taco, or BBQ Nachos, but all of them come with Pork, which I'm not a fan of. But if they ever offer them with either brisket or pulled smoked chicken... let me know where to get in line. read more

My husband and I been trying different places to eat on the weekends around the area. So today we decided to try Single Tree BBQ. It's located in small strip mall it was clean and when we walked in we were greeted right away. We ordered an appetizer that was Deep Fried Potato Salad when came out it looked like hush puppies. It had a Chipotle Mayo on it and they sit on a bed of cole slaw. They were really good they had a crunch and the mayo gave the items a kick. My husband ordered the BBQ BURRITO and I ordered the PULLED PORK SANDWICH. The service was quick and our waitress Jocelyn was friendly and reliable. I have done many reviews on Yelp and I would recommend this place. We like to try locally owned restaurants. I heard the owner talking about their pastrami and I can't wait to try it. read more

The food was delicious! I didn't care for the fried potato salad. It lacked flavor. I had the slaw dog and will order it again! Sooooo gooodddd!!! I had fries as my side. Good fries but I filled up on the slaw dog. You must try the slaw dog. The waitress was amazing. Very attentive. She recommended the slaw dog. I order takeout a few days ago. Got a BBQ pork sandwich and fries and a half rack of pork ribs. Both were definitely really good but I felt the rub on the ribs was quite salty in spots and had let taste in others areas. Unfortunately I didn't find them very Smokey but the ribs were tender. A nice experience if you have ever had kitchen cooked ribs that force you to work really hard to get the meat off the bone. The BBQ sauce was very very good with a nice taste the sandwich was very enjoyable. And the fries were good as well, not special just solid fries that were not soggy or cold. As for service, my food was ready upon arrival and the staff was professional efficient and friendly. The location was clean and inviting for the family and the restaurant had a nice BBQ aroma. I'm from the Deep South so I know BBQ and I prefer dry ribs on white bread with mustard based sauce from a dive ribs shack. I can't say these were the best ribs I have ever had but they were solid given the local options. If you're in the area it definitely worth a try. read more

I went to Hero's Den to try the brisket from Single Tree BBQ today. This was the best brisket I've had in over 20 years. I'm a Texas native and have been looking for good brisket since leaving Texas. Nothing has compared until I tried this. It was tender, flavorful, juicy, and had a great crust. I was in heaven! I can not rave enough about this brisket. I am generally not a huge fan of fat on meat because the texture is usual chewy. I even ate the fat on this brisket. It had great flavor and melted in your mouth. It was seriously everything a perfect brisket should be. If you haven't tried this place yet, get over there and eat this brisket. If you're as big of a foodie and brisket snob as I am, you'll be doung the happy dance with every bite! read more

Phenomenal. I've had a lot of bbq in my life, and this was a solid 9.5. First time here, we were greeted quickly and told to sit anywhere we like. The place isn't overwhelming with decor or music, but is teeming with a "down home" ambience. Less is definitely more in this case, and it's refreshing. Our 17-mo old daughter was a little restless, so she enjoyed getting to play with the games in the back and the attention of the staff and patrons as she walked around with me in tow. The food: growing up in a bbq Mecca, my tastes are a little more specific and it takes a little more to impress. This was, hands down, the BEST bbq I've had in Murfreesboro. The pulled pork was flavorful and moist, the brisket was tended, the sausage set my tastebuds alight (though that could've been the jalapeños). The baked beans were sweet, smoky, tangy, and had a bit of honey on the back of it. The mac & cheese was creamy, and had a good pepper-flavor on it.
