Zen is in my consistent coffee shop rotation!…read more I love this spot and that there is dedicated parking alongside multiple locations for maximum convenience. Their rotating menu keeps things interesting. Great coffee flavor mixed with creative freedoms of coffee creations! I've taken multiple out-of-town friends here and they have all been impressed! The service is great with expert baristas willing to answer any and all questions. The ambiance is photo-worthy and peaceful enough for college students or working professionals to work from a secondary location! I tried the Apple, Spice, + Everything nice today and was impressed by the genuine Apple flavor. Some shops go wrong and make a candle-flavored Apple coffee, not Zen! I encourage everyone to find their Zen and give this place a try, you will not be disappointed!

The cashier was friendly and helped me apply the eGift card that I had purchased. The Bees Knees Latte that I used to order is no longer on the menu, so I tried a Honey Bee, similar, just without the aromatics. Not as good, but I am sure I could have asked for something closer to the original latte, so that is not on them. Ambience is great, well decorated, and plenty of tables. The baristas were having a conversation that would be deemed inappropriate by many, especially since the young man had a few colorful things to say that got some good laughs from his coworkers; luckily, I don't mind hearing the gossip while I wait for my beverage. Fairly quick service considering how busy they were. I recommend stopping by if there is a free space open.

I really wanted to love this spot. Astute Coffee is absolutely beautiful inside -- clean, warm,…read morethoughtfully designed, and somewhere you actually want to linger. The branding and overall vibe feel intentional, and I genuinely appreciate their mission and what they're trying to build in Omaha. That part really stands out. That said, the coffee itself didn't quite hit for me. I ordered a seasonal latte and was excited for something distinctive, but the flavor felt pretty muted. It tasted more like a standard latte than something seasonal or layered. Not bad by any means -- just not memorable. I'd still come back to try something else because the space and concept are strong. I just hope the drinks lean a little more bold next time.

Astute is very truly a GEM among the Omaha coffee shop community…read more You can expect warm hospitality, bright and spacious seating areas, thoughtfully made pour overs and a fun seasonal menu. When I get the chance to sit somewhere for awhile, Astute is my first choice. It's generally quiet enough to read or study, and the pour over service is truly exceptional. The roasters they choose to work with are some of the best around. Astute's employees' commitment to serving their clients well and learning about the nuances of each coffee make for an excellent adventure each time. ++also, they carry Pettit's Pastries and you're gonna need to grab a donut while you're here. Best in town!++

As a non-coffee drinker, my first choice chai was not available, but their matcha produced an interesting result, which was sweetened but not overly sweet. Despite the fact that they offer house made almond and cashew milk, I was a bit surprised that they recommended sticking with the local dairy milk for those that do dairy. I gave it a shot and I suspect it did contribute a lot of the flavor. They had a small baked goods selection heavy on the vegan and gluten-free, and the chocolate chip cookie with salt had a slightly unusual texture bad was a credible cookie with plenty of chocolate. It is the sort of place that caters to special diets and offers specific local options, and the quality was worth coming back for.

Myrtle & Cypress has a lot of charm, but the overall coffee experience was pretty average for us…read more The biggest highlight is the building itself. The coffee shop is housed in what appears to be a beautifully restored old home, giving it a warm, cozy atmosphere that's much more inviting than your typical modern café. It's a great place to relax and enjoy a quiet cup of coffee. I ordered a cortado, and my wife Laura had an espresso. Neither drink was bad, but neither really stood out either. I was hoping for a stronger, bolder cortado with a little more punch, and it ended up being just average. Our waitress was pleasant enough and took good care of us, but nothing particularly memorable. One thing that did strike me as odd was when I asked about the history of the house. Since it's such a unique building, I was curious to learn more, but she seemed somewhat evasive and told me the bare minimum. It was a little surprising given how much character the building has. Overall, Myrtle & Cypress is a nice place to visit if you're looking for a cozy atmosphere, but I think the coffee could be a bit stronger and more memorable. I'd consider coming back, especially for the ambiance, but there are other coffee shops in Omaha I'd probably choose first.
