A lil family owned bbq joint kind of off the beaten path but came through in the clutch (in the moment). We had gone to go chase waterfalls as the snow was melting and were craving bbq so we found this place in the area with decent reviews and decided to check it out. Underwhelming is the main word that comes to mind. Honestly, the ribs and rib tips were really greasy and it came out extremely fast. The rib tips weren't even that hot. And they were fried to a crisp.. not super edible. They were ok but not great. The ribs were decent, good flavor, not a ton of smoke and like I said, greasy. The smoked mac and cheese was disgusting. It tasted like it was days old (or at least the cheese was) and there wasn't any smoke flavor. The baked beans were ok but tasted like from a can. For it being a $82 order i just feel like it should have been way better. Front desk cashier was friendly enough but not super helpful. Wouldn't come back here but it served the purpose in the moment. read more

I'm always looking for good BBQ. We went early at 4 pm because they are only open until 7 or when the meat runs out. The meal was mixed but mostly meh. First the good. The dining room and the bathrooms were very clean and nicely decorated. The 3 ribs I had in my two meat combo were very good, meaty and tender. My smoked Mac and cheese side and my wife's cheesy mashed potatoes were ok. Now the not so good. The server couldn't crack a smile and clearly didn't want to be there. The brisket was tender but had little flavor; no bark or even smoke ring. My wife had the 2 meat combo with 1/4 chicken which was dry, and pulled pork that tasted overcooked and flavorless. The cornbread was also dry and crumbly. If we had only had the ribs, we probably would have given 4 stars. As it was I can't really recommend. read more

Lovely family own bbq place , decor gives a rustic old restaurant with welcoming open arms and smiles. Food: Pork rib tips: Pork rib tips were fine. Not the best or the worst. Needs to have more a smoke flavor and lacking seasoning since it was too bland. Burn ends (from brisket): Not enough smoke flavor. Flavor with no salt so it's pretty bland. Taste okay . Half a chicken: chicken was nicely cooked: again just lack of seasoning or flavor. Bbq sauce: probably the most flavorful thing out of the meal. Got good flavor and sweet tangy flavor. Overall: Would try again only to see if that day I went there, they were just not having the best of the day or something. But besides that, won't go back. read more

I've been there twice, with both experiences being underwhelming. The first visit I was getting over Covid, and thought I couldn't taste because of it. The second visit confirmed the first,(out of multiple things), that the brisket was dry and flavorless. The smokey Mac & Cheese had zero smoke taste and was like elmers glue & noodles. I ended up throwing it all away because it just wasn't good in my opinion. They only had one BBQ sauce and it was very vinegary so that was 3 strikes. Ambiance is nice, and service was good. Stopped on the way back from a weekend in WI to our way to MSP. Very nice staff, and location has the potential to be amazing. Smokey Mac and Cheese dry and tasteless, out of many of the sides before noon on Father's Day, including the fries, corn bread and the loaded potato salad. No fresh drinks. We went to this restaurant today due to its Yelp rating, but it was below average at best. The pulled pork lacked flavor, the "smoked" Mac n cheese had no smoke flavor at all and the baked beans tasted as if they came out of a can. The food was edible, but that's about it. We stopped in hungry after spending the morning hiking . We tried the brisket sandwich, smoked Mac and Cheese , cheesy mashed potatoes, baked beans and chili with corn bread. All were delicious. The brisket was smoked to perfection and the cheesy mashed were extra cheesy . The chili was the favorite filled with tender brisket and just the right amount of spice . Full rack of ribs. Smoked brisket sandwich. Beans & coleslaw. Corn muffins. We shared it all so we could taste a couple things & bring some home for leftovers. Everything was great! I have been a Famous Dave's fan in the past-but this place has them beat! Today my daughter and her family took me out for a late lunch. The ribs were excellent, the beer was cold and refreshing but their side dishes were really great. We had the family dinner with beans, potatoes, Cole slaw, corn muffins and Mac and cheese...I just kept saying Wow, what flavor! So give this place a try and see if I'm right?! read more

Along Highway 8 there's a small garden with flying pigs...and a small building behind it turning out some fabulous bbq! I wouldn't have noticed this place but a coworker insisted that it was the best bbq around. So we had to try it....and am I glad we did! The rib tips were really the ends of their ribs-deliciously moist! Stopped in here on a whim as we just left Menards and the wife needed to feed me before I'd put up with more shopping. I had a pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw and beans. Wife had a loaded baked potato and it was awesome. No BS it was the best and freshest tasting BBQ I've ever had. (And I am addicted to Famous Dave's) I will demand that we go here for 'date night' and any other chance I can get . Damn, getting hungry again as I write this. Great little stop off highway 8. Clean and friendly. Ribs were tender and perfectly done. The rub could have had a little more zing but otherwise were great. The pulled pork could have been shredded a little more but otherwise tender and flavorful. Their home made bbq sauce was great. Slightly sweet with a Smokey flavor with a little vinegar.
