    Frozen hot chocolate
    Pro S.

Sir Walter Candy has been around for decades but recently opened their store front. Such a beautiful space, well lit and great color scheme. You can choose a variety of chocolates and candy over the counter and pay by weight. They also have prepackaged treats like popcorn and gummies. The star of the show for me was the treats made to order like the Belgian waffles, hot chocolate, and frozen hot chocolate! The apple pie bites are one of their top sellers for a reason. You can also watch behind the glass as they make some of their specialties

Immediately, after walking through the door, I was in a whimsical and special place. There were adorable felted crafts in one of the cases. I have a calico kitty and of course needed one of the calico ones to bring home. Then, I moved on to chocolate. I loved how many gorgeous options they had. The young man who helped select the chocolates for our box was extremely friendly and kind. Everything was festive and the decorations were cheery. We got into the chocolates last night and they are some of the best I have ever had. What a treasure of a place!!! Wow!

There's a craft counter, a chocolate counter, and an ice cream counter, and no clear lines or what not. At first glance, it's not immediately obvious where to focus your attention, so I went with the ice cream for here and took the chocolates walking. The owner was out on the floor chatting with customers, which gave the place a welcoming and local feel. It was nice. A few times I hovered close to him and tried to find an opening to ask him some questions about the products, but he was busy with other guests. As for the history of the business, there are enough newspaper clippings and articles on the walls to keep anyone occupied while waiting. Most of the staff appeared to be high school- or younger college-aged employees handling the day-to-day operations. The ice cream isn't made in-house (it's Farr's brand), so this review is more about the experience than the product itself. The serving size was fair, and I opted for the spumoni. Yes, really, spumoni. Three other people in our group between their twenties and forties had never even heard of the flavor before. The ice cream is scooped from a mixed single barrel rather than barrel with separated sections, so the chocolate, pistachio, and cherry had blended together. It was kind of like putting different sodas into the same cup. While I enjoy ice cream and these flavors, others might not think the same. The standout items for me were the chocolates. The bourbon chocolate came with a huge flavor punch. It was rich, bold, and intense enough that I needed a break and a glass of water afterward. It's not for the faint of heart and you need to be serious about chocolates to have an appreciation for this one. The marzipan, on the other hand, was a perfect follow-up. Not to sweet, balanced, and a very nice almond flavor. It was delicious and served as a nice palate refresher after the bourbon's performance. Between the chocolates and the owner's visible presence this was an enjoyable stop. The chocolates were easily the stars of the visit and worth it if you're in the area.

If you're looking for pastries that are as stunning as they are delicious, Fillings & Emulsions…read moreabsolutely delivers. Their fruit-shaped creations are little works of art--so realistic it almost feels wrong to eat them... almost. Each pastry is fresh, light, and packed with flavor. The pistachio was incredibly tasty, though definitely on the richer side, so it's one you might want to savor slowly. The raspberry had a beautifully balanced sweetness with a vibrant, delicious filling. The lemon was very zingy--almost intensely so--but still delightful if you enjoy bold citrus flavors (just maybe not an entire one in a single sitting). The standout, though, was the mango. Easily the winner. It had such a bright, powerful flavor, and the fresh mango inside made every bite feel special. Everything about it--from taste to presentation--was just beautiful. The only slight letdown was the macarons. While still good, they didn't quite match the intensity and uniqueness of the pastries and felt a bit underwhelming in comparison. Overall, this place is a must-visit if you appreciate creative, high-quality desserts. It's clear a lot of skill and care goes into every piece. I loved the building that the pastry shop was in, as it had a "lunch room" feel to it. There are a few restaurants inside so there are options and there's plenty of seating.

The sweet cashier recommended Strawberry & Mango, so that's what we got. They were delicious! I think the mango was my personal favorite. The crunch of the chocolate coating was so satisfying and the fillings soft and gooey. It didn't feel artificial either! The location is in a food mall, which I wasn't expecting but it was so cute inside. I wish we had more time to check out the other vendors but we'll have to come back. On a separate note, it was kind of hard to find a trash can.

All their chocolate is made with natural ingredients. Their chocolate bars (which you can buy in their shop as well as some local stores) are not at all as sweet as many others, and it allows the flavors to really shine. My favorite is blackberry ginger. They also sell truffles and other sweets. Their truffles are amazing! Possibly my favorite truffles ever. The flavors are always changing, and there are usually maybe 4 - 6 available at any time, but they are all wonderful. I've also tried their coconut chocolate sauce which I could totally just eat with a spoon. And I've picked up the chocolate smoothie in their keepsake Chocolate Conspiracy glass at the SLC farmers market. The owner is charming and is always happy to explain what makes his chocolate different. I did a chocolate tasting here with a friend, and it was so interesting! We tried lots of bars, not just theirs, and got to check out the working space. They also offered a small discount on anything we purchased following the class. Prices are average to a little high, only compared with other chocolate shops, but you get what you pay for, and the quality is unparalleled.

It was wonderful! Since then, I have come across their chocolate many times, and have loved each bar tried. I only just learned they have a small storefront open to the public, and immediately made my way there (I'm dedicated when it comes to chocolate, okay?!). They are open 9-2 on weekdays, and when you arrive, you will need to ring the bell at the front door to be admitted, but I only had to wait a few moments, then was greeted by Mark. He was so lovely, and though I was there no longer than ten minutes, I learned so much about chocolate! They make sure the farmers they purchase from receive fair wages, and use two varieties of heirloom cacao beans: Arriba and Chuno. Mark gave me a roasted cocoa bean of each type, and I got to crack open the shell, revealing the nibby meat within. They were both so distinct from each other, with their own delicious characteristics. These are made into a variety of bars. The majority are flavored via smoking with various components (mint, cherry, and mole, for example), so that they do not actually contain any additional ingredients beyond the chocolate, just the essence of these flavors. It's like magic! Most are dark, but there are a few milk, too, and though I generally do not care for milk, Millcreek's is on the darker side, not too sweet, and truly delish! They recently started making CBD chocolate (so hip, guys!) as well as a new line of inclusion bars under the moniker Wild Horse. These range from traditional, like toffee, to creative: ginger and wasabi peas! Beyond chocolate bars, the shop also offers chocolate covered cherries and espresso beans, hot cocoa mix, and chocolate tea. Most of the bars can be sampled, and they had containers of tea for wafting the fragrance. I left with several goodies, and though I have not yet tried everything, so far the blueberry crumble and High West Whiskey bars, along with hazelnut cacao tea, are my favorites. Discounts are available if you buy three or six chocolate bars, but regardless, prices are reasonable for such delicious and high quality products. Mark was so kind to take the time to teach a mini chocolate lesson, and he let me know they will soon be offering classes on chocolate making and tastings. Go!
