Sisig is one of my boyfriend's favorite comfort foods to eat. Partnered with rice and beer, it has become one of our go-to meals during our dates. So once we heard that there was a new restaurant in Eastwood Mall called Sisig Society just a few weeks after its opening, we decided that we needed to check that out!
Apparently, Sisig Society gives you the chance to customize your sisig. Aside from enjoying it the traditional way (sisig on a sizzling plate with rice and a sunny side up fried egg), they offer 5 options to choose how you want your sisig to be done:
Crispy (I think it's safe to say that this is their version of the original sisig.)
Salsa (Mexican twist! Ole!)
Diablo (SUPER SPICY!!!)
Bacon & Cheese (Yum-yum in my tum-tum!)
Garlic Shroom (I have no side comment here because it's pretty exploratory.)
Aside from picking your flavor, you can also choose what meat you'd like (ie. pork, chicken, seafood or tofu) as the main ingredient for your sisig. My boyfriend tried the traditional classic Crispy Sisig while I got the Bacon & Cheese Sisig, both for only 149 pesos. The Crispy Sisig was pretty good, close to that of Gerry's Grill. On the other hand, I got pretty excited with the idea of having my sisig topped with bacon & cheese and fortunately, I didn't make a mistake in ordering it. Aside from having crispy pork on my sisig, it also had crispy bacon bits with cheese to double the explosion in my mouth! After several spoonfuls though, I had to trade some crispy sisig in just to balance the creaminess of the cheese.
Other interesting meals on their pretty straightforward menu are Sisig Pasta and Sisig Nachos, both of which we'll try next time! The place is pretty small although they have a couple of tables for an al fresco dining experience. But I wouldn't recommend doing that during the day because of the scorching heat outside. read more
