2026 update: Sister Cities Cajun just as good as it was on my first visit, circa 2020/2021? I was on the hunt for Jambalaya that I could order for my Mardi Gras themed birthday party. This night, I only wanted to try the Jambalaya, and eat the ribs, I was in luck! on my last visit, the ribs were sold out. There were every bit as delicious as I remembered them. I asked the server about the Jambalaya, and she mentioned I could get it catered for my party. I did not realize that I could have ordered it cold, to heat up when my party was ready (there is a place on the website to notate that, hopefully this helps someone) I did not mark the correct box and my Jambalaya was hot at 3 pm when my party was at 8 pm. Nothing was too spicy, everything was seasoned just right, and the flavors were on point. The service was great and attentive, which made the experience even better. Wow!! we drove from Saint Charles to South city for Sister cities Cajun, and it did not disappoint! The mussels appetizer was incredible, my husband said they were the best mussels he ever had. We'be been trying to visit Sister Cities for several years, but our schedule and theirs don't usually line up. We were finally able to find a time that worked for us, and it was absolutely worth the wait! Everything on the menu looked amazing, but we finally settled on gumbo, smothered catfish, shrimp & grits, and fresh green beans (order these!!!) Sister Cities never disappoints! I ordered the Low Country Cioppino and my partner order the Catfish Tacos and Gumbo, and all of it was delicious. Gumbo comes with a side of incredible cornbread. So many different flavors, seasonings and textures. They probably could've used one more server but I feel like they stayed on top of service well. I stopped by this spot right as they opened at noon. For a while, other than staff I was the only person there. I was greeted warmly and made welcome. On Sundays it's counter service so I ordered at the bar and grabbed a table. I ordered their seafood gumbo and side of red beans and rice. My order came out in a reasonable time, both dishes piping hot and smelling good. There was plenty of seafood and great seasoning in the gumbo. It was rich and very tasty. The rice that came with it and the beans was cooked perfectly. Each dish came with a piece of really good cornbread. Moist but with a nice crust and just a nudge of what I think was molasses. The red beans were smokey, perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. I use a smaller red bean in mine that results in a creamier result, but while different these were just as good. I really enjoyed that smokey goodness. I chatted with the staff briefly including the chef. Was even offered a look at their smoker. Which I declined. I'm sure they have better things to do. Our wonderful waitress, Denise, said that i needed to come back to try their ooey gooey butter cookies because they didn't have any that day. There are lots of options for pescatarians but it's not vegetarian friendly. My favorite dish is the Etouffee. My meat eating parter loves the Dirty Chick and the Creole Pasta.
