We've been here a few times and decided to come back with some friends. It seems like the quality of the food has gone down. It started off when we ordered onion rings for an appetizer and was so disappointed. They were just frozen onion rings. I would've thought that a place like this would've been homemade. The pulled pork was a bit tough and the barbecue ribs definitely did not fall off the bones. The corn casserole and the macaroni and cheese was really good. They did have trivia going on and they do have live music certain days so you might want to check their calendar to see what's going on before you head our way.

    Smoked Beef Brisket Sandwich* delish!

This past visit to Hwy 61 Roadhouse in Webster Groves I discovered a new favorite dish that is the beef brisket sandwich that was cheesy, meaty and delectable. This wasn't my first rodeo at Hwy 61 Roadhouse and there's things I like that keep me coming back but there's a few things I don't like as much such as the smoked chicken plate I ate on a previous visit and so deducting one star for my review. Things I love there are: cheeseburgers, BBQ Sampler entree, onion rings, wings, red beans n rice, and smoked spaghetti as a side dish although I probably wouldn't order as an entree. Dishes I don't like much as much are the aforementioned smoked fried chicken, gumbo, and jambalaya that's okay but had better elsewhere. But this place to me is one of the coolest restaurant spaces in the Lou with lots of memorabilia, a Guy Fieri DDD endorsement, and many years ago I use to shop there when it was a Streetside Records store. Nice servers and never had an issue with service.

Stopped in here after attending an event nearby. Had made a reservation, and they'd pulled tables together for us. Once we arrived, we realized that there really had been no need for reservations... We had the place to ourselves. My cocktail was very good and the food was okay. The coleslaw was almost flavorless though. I brought it home thinkin' my husband could maybe fix it up enough to eat. I also ordered the Cajun Potstickers to share with the table, but they were greeeeeasy! Not worth the price ($13!). I had the Cajun Chicken sandwich, but with no bun or bread. It was pretty tasty. The decor is really kitschy, so if that's your style, this is your place. Just looking around, I wondered how often some of the stuff got dusted (if at all).

Very large space. Made conversation easy and noise level no interference. A lot of fried breaded food which can be a real treat. Large portions with fair pricing with an extensive menu. Service was good, maybe could have checked on us a bit more . Parking was no problem. A fun place for all.

Upon walking in we were greeted right away. The inside is completely amazing!! The decor is so cool, and gave the kids something cool to explore. My special needs son and I love the show Diner drive ins and Dives, and my son was so excited to see that his favorite chef ate here!!! We ordered a little bit of everything. I ordered the catfish and bbq pulled pork spaghetti, my daughter ordered a build your own burger and fries, my son ordered the smoked fried chicken and we got two kids meals of burgers with Mac and cheese.we got the sampler the wings and toasted rav were my favorite the pot stickers were pretty spicy when the food came out we were amazed by the size of the chicken!!!! It was amazing some of the best chicken we have had in Saint Louis. I didn't care for the catfish nuggets but they had no problem taking them back and bringing something else. The kids burgers were very good! The Mac and cheese wasn't a favorite with my little family. That bbq spaghetti was really good I was impressed with it. They make most all of their sauces in house and when I say I want to buy it by the bottle the sauces are that good!!!!! The manager was really good with my kids he answered every question they had as well as all my questions. Our server Alexis was great as well. Hands down recommend it here if you haven't been you have to give them a try you won't be disappointed!!!!!!

A neat interior, but the pork bbq was uninspiring. It's 1 of those places that forces their 1 sauce on you. Average bbq but the sweet potato waffle fries were good and plentiful. Been there. Done that. No reason to go back.

Let's start with the good. I was with a party of 9 to celebrate a birthday. The murals on the walls are beautiful and the decor was nice. Customer service was great. I was excited that there was live music. I ordered a Hurricane to drink. I was disappointed with the lack of alcohol in this drink. For dinner I had the Mississippi Fish & Chips and the Big Sophia mac & cheese. It was just okay. I had to ask the waitress a few times for our free appetizers which we received at the end of our meal. Some of our checks needed to be corrected but everything was handled professionally. I'm not sure if I'll go back.

The wife and I chose this establishment for date night because we wanted music with our dining. Music was good. Apps were mixed (good onion rings although skimpy on the dipping sauce) but the shrimp were a strange rubbery texture. I had the spaghetti, which was large enough to take part home, but the sauce was really sweet. After our entrees were delivered we didn't see our server again until the bill was given to us. I really would have liked another beer if anyone had asked. Just a word of advice skip the banana pudding. Pretty tasteless and lacking banana.

Such a cute looking spot!!! Love the inside and the decor. Super unique and lots of things to look at and admire. The waitress took our order relatively quickly but the food took forever to come out (roughly 30-40 mins) and we were the only ones in the restaurant! But that's ok. I got the jambalaya cup. It was ok. Rice was a little mushy and mine wasn't hot. Just warm. However my friend got the shrimp pasta and it was freaking amazing and hot!!! I would definitely recommend that instead!!! The restaurant was also cold af omg. Like why was it freezing. We all got cold after waiting for our food for so long. Anyways, decent place still!!!

Jambalaya & live music! Enjoy the southern fixins'! Now, we've got sone friends from Mississippi wanting to visit for the catfish!

Let me start off with saying Cajun/Creole food is one of my favorites & I eat gumbo frequently. Gumbo- This is the worst I have ever had I couldn't even eat past a spoonful. It was flavorless, the roux tasted like flour & water with no seasoning. This gumbo was like rice & gravy not like a soup With a thicker base like it should be Cajun Potstickers- the filling was actually good but the actual dough was very thin which made it wet Service- The waitress was nice but the establishment should have more staff because she was working the bar and tables for the entire restaurant during lunchtime hours The ambiance was beautiful & nicely decorated. I would suggest this place for a drink & not any of the food!

Wow, let's talk about an experience that we will never forget. (Coming from a food service worker and a butcher from one of the top 10 shops in the country) Let's cut straight to it! The music. The sound was good. The bad wasn't bad, but it wasn't blues. (Whatever, the owners can't control that) -the drinks 2/10. The beer was good! The cocktails? We ordered a tequila w/ soda and lime. My girlfriend tried it and looked at me with concern. I took a sip, and it tasted like cleaning chemicals. The ginger Manhatten, if I'm drinking a $15 cocktail, it better rock my world, not be a simple drink with a splash of Canada dry ginger ale. -the food. The food here... Where do I start? This "Cajun" menu was designed by white people, for white people. It was beyond bland. The burger. Over cooked, tough, and had zero flavor. The peel and eat shrimp. What a shame. Decent quality product that was ruined. Sure, it was overcooked... But seasoning? Forget about seasoning the water, they didn't even salt it! Then the bartender runs up with a plastic cup of something and says "they forgot this" and sprinkled it on one side of the shrimp shell (that is getting peeled off". Point is, the shrimp taste like rubber and tap water. The coleslaw. I can think of 2 times in my life that I spit something out! That stuff is not even bland, it's just gross! The bartender was kind though! Either way, this place is not worth a visit. Not worth your time, and I'll be damned if I'll ever give it another shot. Moral of the story, I want my money back! It was that awful! I had an amazing dinner last week, for two, that cost me $20 more than this junk!

    Muddy water Espresso martini

This was our first visit to HWY 61 Roadhouse. We sat at the bar and experienced the most incredible service from Jamie. That woman is amazing! She was working hard all night and makes the most delicious cocktails! The food was even more amazing! We had the sampler appetizer (the tamales were ) , salad with the Cajun herb dressing, Cajun sampler and Bourbon chicken with their famous Mac n' cheese. Everything was so so good! Oh and the live band, Sonic Scarlet, was great too! We will definitely be back!

That said, the experience can be very inconsistent. The bar drinks are almost always made far too sweet, and we've had several issues with the food over the years. We've received seafood boils that were cold, bread that wasn't served warm, and even boils with the wrong seasoning. Unfortunately, when we've brought these issues to the staff's attention, they have sometimes been argumentative instead of trying to make it right. When everything is prepared correctly, the food is absolutely worth the visit. However, because the quality is so hit-or-miss, it's difficult to know what kind of experience you'll have each time.

The Pimm's cup (Pimm's no 1, lemonade, white soda, mint) was deliciously sweet, refreshing and very low alcohol. The Crawfish Carolyn had so many crawfish tails in a well balanced brandy cream sauce under a thick layer of cheese. It was an amazing dish served with buttery French bread. The Blackstrap Molasses Bacon Beignet Burger was an unexpected and creative use of a beignet as a burger bun. It only partly worked because the beignet, which was mostly air, got soggy and slightly bitter. However, the patty was extremely thick and juicy and the bacon had a smoky sweet depth of flavor. The Kool-Aid pickle was good and we loved the clementines and strawberries side dish. The only downside was the service. I've been there once or twice over the years, and I've eaten from the food truck once or twice. The fried chicken is fine but kinda underwhelming. It's good, but not to the point where it justifies the price. It's served on a metal tray, on a piece of wax paper, as if it were premium Texas barbecue, but at the end of the day, it's not barbecue. It's just fried chicken. The dirty little secret of fried chicken is that it's not especially hard to make decent-quality fried chicken. They sell it at gas stations, in grocery stores. Popeyes employees lacking in basic life skills, whom you wouldn't trust to make a cup of coffee, routinely crank out a product as good as anything else you can get in a restaurant. Not that I'm complaining. I love Grace! It's where I go when my "bad" cholesterol is too low and the balance in my checking account is too high. I'm at a problematic and yet gratifying state of equlibrium after yesterday's visit. I already kinda knew that I wasn't going to bother with the chicken, but I could hardly read the menu. I almost went with a half-chicken just to avoid having to squint. They've got one of those backlit screens, like at a McDonald's (where everyone just uses the kiosk now anyway), but with worse fonts and less line-spacing. I'm sure they paid a premium for it back in '06 or whatever. Everything in this place is peak stomp clap-era millennial optimism, from back when guys were dressing as lumberjacks. Of course there's a random, incongruous smash burger on the menu. They may or may not be playing Mumford & Sons on the Muzak. I figured the chicken sandwich, called the OG Crispy, would be a good opportunity to compare it to the famous chicken sandwich at the aforementioned Popeyes. Also, it comes with fries, which spared me from having to take out a loan on my house to purchase them a la carte. At $16 (I think), it'll definitely run you, but in general, the prices here seem less ridiculous than they used to. It's still entirely too much, but somehow not much more than you'd spend at a fast food restaurant. Are the fries that come with a sandwich the same size that they are if you order them separately? Supposedly, the a la carte side feeds two. I couldn't imagine two people sharing the side that comes with the OG Crispy. Someone might get cut! It was a perfectly fine size for just me. They're seasoned with some sort of blend that's heavy on the black pepper. I would have been fine with just salt, but this was no dealbreaker. The OG Crispy was great! Was it better than the chicken sandwich at Popeyes? It's hard to say. It's probably a better quality piece of chicken. Similar size. Expertly prepared: nice and crisp on the outside and not overcooked on the inside, which is key for white meat. You're given the choice of regular or hot. I of course went with the hot. I wish the sauce had more tang to it, but it was surprisingly and delightfully hot. Spicy foods in non-ethnic restaurants are so often nerfed, for children and, erm, non-ethnics. A few people at my table had the po boys, both shrimp and catfish. They looked really good, and not as skimpy as they look in some of the photos posted here. I might have to try one, once my LDL subsides and my financial situation recovers. Sandwiches might be the thing to get here. Not that you can truly go wrong with anything.
