Went there for Sunday coffee and ended up staying for hours. Good setup especially the outdoor patio in the back. The atmosphere is chill and calm ... it never got too loud to be distracting. This place is great if you go alone to do causal work/studying or a small coffee date but definitely NOT for a group of 3 or more. The tables and chairs are setup for one or two people. Very cozy but I did wish the table were a bigger at one point. Oh yea the coffee ... It was decent with good pricimg. The wifi was good and the staff are friendly. The place tends to get packed around noon which can slow the wifi speed a bit. Definitely would come back for a lazy/chill Sunday with a friend. read more

This is a great little coffee spot and right next to where I live which is always a plus! They have my favorite roaster Stumptown coffee which is out of Seattle, WA. Those lucky enough to work from home are usually caught hanging out here and stealing their WiFi while sipping on a yummy almond milk latte! Or so I think... The prices and portion sizes here are what keep me coming! For a "small" latte it's under $4 but it's about the size of a regular medium cup you could get anywhere else. Pretty nice! They have yummy sandwiches and pastry items too you can grab on the go! They also have juices. The vibe is very eclectic and small but a couple places to sit & wonder in the window or in the back ;) I'll keep coming here because the coffee is great and the staff is always friendly and fast! read more

I like that this place serves a really good unsweetened chai latte. That is hard to find. Most chai lattes are basically liquid cake. The one here is spicy and flavorful but won't give you diabetes. In addition to that it's the standard Brooklyn cafe deal: hip baristas, not enough tables for all the people who want to sit at them with their Mac laptops, a kind of weird backyard with (also) not enough seating, good strong wifi, some baked goods and sandwiches and stuff. You can get a banana for $1, which seems like a ripoff, but sometimes you just want a $1 banana. If you can nab one of those precious tables, it's a good place to get some work done. Except sometimes they'll play, like, an entire Weezer album at a not-so-work-friendly volume. I dunno. I like this place because it was one of the first places I worked when I dipped a toe into freelancing and it reminds me of those heady early days of just being amazed that I could work without going to an office and sitting at a soul-crushing cube. read more

Had a bit of a wait for MeMe's Diner, so we popped over here for coffee and a cinnamon roll to curb my hanger. They were out of oat milk that day (for me, a tragedy) but my almond latte was pretty decent. The cinnamon roll though, deserves applause. I've been burned by dry cinnamon rolls far too many times in my life, but this one was perfectly moist and had a good frosting/dough/cinnamon ratio. Great backyard with a lot of seating. Remember your mosquito repellent if sitting outside. My friend and I got eaten alive sitting out there for 20 minutes. The backyard is big enough for strollers; however to get into the space there are several steps. There are ramps but being a cramped entrance way, it was quite difficult to get the stroller back there by myself. Luckily some of the customers helped open the door and to hold it open so it made it easier. Sit and Wonder has yummy pastries and coffee and tea. I came to S&W whilst staying in Crown Heights and looking for a coffee shop to sit down at and get some work done. It's a cute place with a chill ambiance, but kinda small and not a lot of workspace. I think maybe it's because they want you to literally *sit and wonder* while you're in there, which is what I did for a while. I ordered a coffee and a gluten-free polenta muffin and even though I'm an avid gluten-consumer, I found the muffin to be quite delightful. The coffee was also good. As I sat pondering life and eating my polenta muffin, I saw a table open up and relocated so I could stop sitting and wondering and start working. This is a really great place to meet up with a friend, a blind date, or just hang out with a laptop or book. I liked the vibe which to me had a relaxing, cool, and unique atmosphere. You can order fresh teas, coffee and pastries. I met someone for the first time here and we sat outside in the back to get to know each other. The back was pretty chill...and it was chilly! ;-) If they had a couple of outdoor heaters, it would have made the experience truly complete. This place is an oasis in the concrete jungle! Atmosphere: quiet, welcoming, warm, cozy. There is ample seating inside and in the backyard patio. The design is zen-inspired, which lends to a calming environment in which to work. Staff: friendly and helpful, the staff seem to genuinely enjoy having conversations while taking and making orders. It's nice to have a chance to slow down and connect. Good/drink: house-made (in their other location) almond milk is worth the extra $1. They definitely do not skimp on it either. The iced lattes are refreshing, smooth, and creamy. Muffins and crescent sandwiches are made in house. TIP- muffins are half price ($1.50) after 5p! Whattt? The lemon, polenta, almond (gluten-free) was a dense and grainy cake, moist in the center with a crunchy and sweet top. Too big for one sitting and definitely worth the full $3 price. I love, love, love Sit & Wonder. I've been coming here almost as long as I've lived in Brooklyn (2 years, if you're playing the home game). The baristas are all incredibly friendly, quick, and very good at what they do. It's also worth noting that there seems to be very little staff turnover, which I think speaks volumes about the way they run things. The set-up is cozy, and seating is a little cramped but varied (window bar, wall bar, little tables in the back). They've recently shuffled some furniture around, and I think it's helped the space situation. It tends to stay pretty quiet, so it's a great spot for getting work some work (or Facebooking) done. That being said, seating fills up pretty early. The back yard is something to write home about: cozy, well-manicured, and bigger than you'd expect. That's what she said? The only thing I don't love about this place is the fact that everyone else loves it too. It attracts a hefty crowd of chill but bone quiet freelancers and not-sure-if crazy guys yelling about peanut butter (okay it was just one guy). I've always had drip coffee here until I had an Americano that knocked me on my ass and now I will never go back. They have donuts from Dough (try the blood orange) and the coffee is an expertly interpreted Stumptown which they also sell in 12 oz bags (they get new shipments on Wednesday if you're zeroed in on the absolute freshest bean) but which doesn't stop me from slavering after the 5 pound bags they keep behind the counter. I feel bad going to this place (let alone reviewing it!) because the guy at the Penny House Cafe down the street is so freakin' nice... but alas, sometimes the dark, small sitting space of Penny House just doesn't cut it, despite the superior food, ice coffee, niceness, etc. thankfully, sit & wonder provides an above average cup of coffee, an above averagely nice staff, and a bustle that hits the spot for a good day-get-stuff-done-on-my-macbook session. they were also pretty nice about filling my hot water the one time I had the green tea there (I was feeling a little under the weather). I have also seen them doing crossword puzzles at the counter. I'm a fan, and I often dream about jumping in with a correct answer... an unexpected hero from the table across the room. A cute little coffee shop that I wish existed on every corner of every street really. A nice sweet barista, stumptown coffee, and a take one bring one book stack in the back where there is seating and wifi. We went in just for a quick cold drink to walk back to the train stop with, but decided to sit and read for a bit in the back. Since it was close to closing, the barista offered us some free baked goodies when we checked out. It was such a cute quiet space that we actually picked two books and just sat there reading for twenty minutes before they closed. We walked out thinking how nice it would be to spend more time there. If I lived in that neighborhood, I would probably be there daily, one of the many old but young looking people hanging out with the barista, who probably has a life like the ones they show on that show Girls (which I stopped watching after 8 episodes), and talk about how there are only mostly white people coming in even though the neighborhood is so diverse and there is an amazing braiding place down the street and...oh, did you know a bahn mi shop finally opened down the street? This place is sweet and randomly slow paced and ironic with its existence so Brooklyn in all its ways. Oh well, just Sit and Wonder. read more

A friend recommended Sit and Wonder when I was looking for coffee shops that I could sit and work at on the weekends. This place is pretty adorable outside. For the most part the inside looks like any other coffee shop, but it's still cozy nonetheless. There's a bookshelf and a cute little back patio area, and little bar areas you can sit at with your coffee and laptop or a friend or a book -- whatever you prefer. Each time I've gone there I've gotten their cold brew, which is not a disappointment and is decently priced. I also have gotten a muffin and a sandwich there over the course of a few visits, and each have tasted great. :) The bathrooms here are also really great. Like a clean yet vintage-y feel. I recently came on a Saturday hoping to get a little reading done in a quiet place (as my roommate had tons of people in our apartment). Even though I showed up about 15 mins after opening, there were no seats or tables available. I even hovered with my coffee for ten minutes or so, but to no avail. I ended up going back home. I know they want you to 'sit and wonder' but perhaps this place would benefit from a time limit on tables. I ordered an iced latte, and unfortunately the barista made it with 90% milk and just two shots of espresso. I had to vigorously shake it and spin it just make it feel like I was actually drinking a latte and not just a cup of milk. The muffin I got was fine, but nothing to brag about. I'll try this place again in the future. But for now I'll stop at the places where I might have a chance to sit for awhile and enjoy my meal. read more

I ventured into this adorable little spot on a whim as I was in the area for a work meeting. Being from Park Slope (ok fine, South Slope), I must admit I felt a bit out of place at first when I stepped off the bus at Dean and Grand. I was in need of a nice spot to work for the day, and feared the best thing I would find in this area would be the driveway of an auto repair shop. But Alas- Sit & Wonder saved the day! Pros: Stumptown Coffee Wi-Fi Very relaxing vibe (including music that is relieving all of my stress) Friendly Staff Cons: Doesn't serve food, which means I will need to eventually get up from my comfy chair and grab some lunch Overall, the perfect work spot/hangout spot. We passed Sit & Wonder on our first Prospect Heights apartment-hunting trip, and it looked perfect from the outside. After spending hours there emailing apartments and having delicious cappuccino, and now that I live down the block, spending more hours during the day, I think it definitely lived up to its first impression. I'll have to say that I haven't explored beyond the cappuccino ($3) and a half pound of Stumptown espresso beans ($11) for work, but both were great. For the ambiance, the music selection early on also really made it for me - some days new Radiohead, others Miles Davis, etc, depending on the mood of the barista and their ipod - though BBC news early one morning on the radio was also refreshing. Right now, it isn't too busy, and that's a plus for folks with reading and occasional internet searching to do (on the free wifi, just get the password). And also good if you just want to take a break and read a book from the take-one-leave-one shelves in front. If it gets busy, it will be hard, because there isn't too much space for seating: two tables with good room in the front, a few two-person tables and the counter along the way to the back, and a bench, couch, and armchair in back. Ahh, my neighborhood coffee shop. Love this place so much. They serve Stumptown coffee and donuts from Dough - you can't go wrong with that combo. Best of all, the baristas are super nice and friendly, and they make good drinks. I think I've fallen in love with this cafe. Why? THEY MAKE THEIR OWN ALMOND MILK. I think every cafe that serves almond milk should get extra points, you know? Oh how I love...to sit and wonder! I've a definite soft spot for this local coffee shop. It offers the perfect work-conducive setting to plop down with my laptop and spend endless hours chipping away at e-mails and cover letters with a solid cup of joe and a macaroon. i dunno. i swoon over that combo every time. Given the great variety of seating arrangements, the place is cute, comfortable, and accommodating. I usually situmuate myself at the bar stools up front, and treasure those moments of window-gazing between thoughts.
