This company started out great and completed about 90% of the work professionally and on time, which is why this experience has been so disappointing. After being fully paid in November, the remaining 10% of the project has still not been completed months later. I have called, texted, and tried reaching out multiple times with very limited response or communication. At one point, Rick told me they had a bigger project that took priority and that my job had been pushed to the back of the line. Unfortunately, that still doesn't excuse the complete lack of follow-through or communication. What started as a good working relationship turned sour very quickly. I am beyond frustrated with Rick's lack of professionalism and communication regarding finishing this project. I finally informed him that I will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau because I've run out of options trying to get this resolved. My advice: be very cautious about making final payment until every part of the project is fully completed. read more

So, I really don't know where to begin with this review because EVERY aspect of my experience with Sit WELL Upholstery and Fabric far exceeded any customer experience I have EVER had. I searched for weeks to find an upholstery shop that could restore a vintage Victorian style couch, chair and dining room chairs. But as soon as I came across Sit Well's website I knew I had found a company that had the requisite expertise to do the job. From my first call with the owner Rick, to the home visit with their interior designer Cheyenne I was enthralled by their professionalism, and their level of expertise, attention to detail and views on environmentalism. Every aspect of their business protocol was exemplary. Their prices were reasonable. They adhered to their the service schedule. They provided multiple verbal and pictorial project updates. They were responsive when we had questions. They provided white glove pickup and return service. The finished product... well it was absolute perfection and indescribably beautiful. Sit WELL took furniture that just may be 100 years old, that was so worn, thread bare and actually ready for the trash heap and transformed it into pieces that look like they belong in a museum. Took weeks to get my reupholstered chairs back. Was not super impressed with their service either.

We had our dining chairs reupholstered by Sit Well. They have a wide selection of fabrics to choose from and the lady assisting us was helpful in making our choice. It took a little longer to complete the job than we were told or expected but the quality of the work was excellent. read more

Communication is slow. I requested a quote through a referral service. While they were quick to initially respond, everything afterwards was slow. They asked for pics and description for an estimate and eventually came back saying that they needed to see the chairs. I gave up after 2+ weeks and after I read other reviews about slow service and communication. I'm glad that they are successful and apparently too busy for new business, but I would want better communication with a service provider. read more

So...I had 4 white leather barstool chairs that I wanted to have soft cotton slipcovers made for so the leather wouldn't get damage by the everyday sitting & wearing that beat up a chair daily plus the dyes in clothes especially blue jeans that rub off on white furniture. So as I was driving down Greenway Rd in Phx when I spotted this upholstery shop that upholsterers EVERYTHING.I looked up there info, called & they gave me an email address to submit pics of the barstool & work I needed so they could give me a quote, which I did & within 24hrs I received a quote & dropped the chair off the next day.They had A VARIETY of fabrics for me to choose from.Be sure to ask about fabrics on sale, I found my fabric in the sale section. In two weeks I received an email that my order was ready & when I picked up the barstool chair & slipcovers...WOW, absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!! I was very pleased with the quality, there professionalism & the finished product.They are a bit pricey which is why I gave them 4 STARS but as the saying goes, you get what you pay for & they truly did an awesome professional job.Don't be shy to negotiate or haggle for a lower price :) read more

Went to Sit Well one day found out you need an appointment but the guy wrote down our contact information anyway, and what we needed done, which was recoverin 4 high back bar chairs. The guy said they were very busy but someone would get back to us in two weeks to schedule us in. Well it's been over a month and still no call. I believe our job was too small for them to bother with. I wouldn't/t go back to this place if they were the only shop in 1000 miles. I DO NOT recommend them! read more

If I could leave negative stars I would. I have been attempting to get a very simple job completed of recovering an ottoman cushion. On August 27 I connected with Sit Well Upholstery from Angie's List. An appointment was secured for August 29. When I arrived, the gentleman I was dealing with was of minimal help, but that was because he was one of the fabricators and not the owner. I selected a fabric, left payment and was told that Rick would call me with the pick up date. On Sept. 8, I had not heard from Rick so I called, left a VM and sent a text. NO REPSONSE. Called again on Sept 12, Sept 13, & Sept 14. FINALLY after having to ask when I could pick up my cushion so I could take it elsewhere, Rick called back. He passed the buck and did not take responsibility for his actions and blamed on the worker that assisted when I brought it in. He promised to have it done by the end of the month. The new promise date had passed and I contacted them on Oct. 3. NO RESPONSE. Then I called again on Oct 9. Received a response on Oct 10 with another story of lies and failure to take responsibility of his poor business practices. He halfway apologized and promised it would be done Oct 21. The new date had passed so I called and texted again on Oct 25. NO RESPONSE. The following day I received a VM with ANOTHER story. This man lies so much he cannot keep his story straight. As I am looking at the other reviews, it appears Rick has a track record of being a poor and dishonest businessman. I am going to pick up my cushion tomorrow I hope! I am sad to sad this is the FIRST negative review I have ever left on YELP. read more

Sitwell is the WORST upholstery company ever with terrible communication problems and very shady practices by staff & Rick (owner). Took 3 months to get my sofa cushions back. Gave them precise measurements, took cushions in to verify measurements as wanted them to be recovered with new fabric and NEW firm high density new foam. First two cushions were cut 6 inches too short and filled with gross old foam. Rick refused to answer my 15 emails, nor accepted my calls to correct THEIR problem. Finally, after 3 months from drop off did they give me new foam cushions with proper dimensions of fabric, but I had to buy and pay for 2nd bolt of fabric due to their incompetence. SITWELL is the WORST! The only time I received a timely response was when I left the first message for a reupholstery project. They do not respond to messages, they do not communicate, and when Rick tells you one thing, Elizabeth will tell you something else. Obviously, neither one of the two communicates with the other. They did not show up on the day for the pick up. On the day I had been promised the delivery, no one showed up and when I called, Elizabeth told me they did not have me on their calendar. They did not keep to the schedule I had been promised. And, as for the quality of the work: NONEXISTENT. A first year apprentice would have done better. I deeply regret having trusted them with the very simple project of reupholstering a LazyBoy which was to be a center piece and which they turned into a nightmare. If you have an upholstery project that you care about, find another company to do it for you; stay away from SITWELL! read more

As info to my fellow customers, Rick is not an on-sight owner. To see him, you have to arrange to meet him at the store. Consequently, he seems not in a position to know what is going on with his employees. In my case of being double-charged, his clerk was training a new clerk, turned my order over to her and evidently didn't check her work, or was just as careless. They ordered two sets of arm rest covers rather than one set of two covers as I requested. And double-charged me. When I tried to discuss it with Rick, he blindly denied it, despite no knowledge of what had happened. 'Very bad customer service! Only after I posted it to Yelp did he look into it and offered me a partial refund. Even then, not for 50% of what I paid (labor, fabric and taxes) but only for half of the labor. That led to an argument and he finally did the right thing and refunded half of the bill. He then sent me an email, "All is well that ends well". No, the end did not justify the means. He even had the nerve to say, "You agreed to pay it." I gave my business to a neighborhood shop in good faith and he tried to blame me for their double-charging. That is not taking responsibility! Their problem is owner/management not around to know what is happening in the store. Stressing out customers is not "All is well". For his own sake, I suggest that Rick consider fulfilling a pro-active role in his business or bring in a qualified Manager who will. Not doing so would be a shame because his manufacturing people do good work. read more

To give one star to this company is too many... I wanted new, big and full curtains to put into a lash salon and did not receive that. The curtains I waited 9 weeks and more for looked like the original ones I bought from the store. I reached out to this company for custom curtains but there was definitely nothing special about them. Not to mention their customer service is not good. I would send emails weekly for an update and never get a response. I will be taking the curtains they installed back down very soon and finding another company that is well worth the money. read more

The person who was doing the upholstery called us while he was working on the project and made a few recommendations. We trusted his judgment and are so pleased with the results! While their work is nice the communication and timeliness of their work is terrible. They decide when they will answer the phone. Once you have given them work they let your number go to voicemail and then return your call, on average, of once time per three messages. Buyer beware here. read more

This business does incredible work. However, their quote for a chair I found at Goodwill was absolutely astonishing. I'm really into up cycling goods, and just trying to reuse them instead of having something go into the landfill. I'll buy a nice set of shoes at goodwill, take it to my local cobbler and have a brand new pair of boots for $50. This business quoted me $800 for labor and materials in regards to a $10 chair that just needs a little help. The woman making the quote also was not clear while giving compiling the repair information. It seemed to unnecessarily fluctuate... as much as I wanted to simply reupholster a chair for my significant other's birthday, the TLC I desired, no more than $250, seemed completely out of my budget. I hired Rick and his crew to rehab my dad's chair. The chair isn't particularly valuable. It's true value is sentimental as my dad died a few years ago. He loved the chair and I really wanted to make it a part of my home so that I could always have a part of my father with me. They did an outstanding job. Better than I could ever imagine. The gentleman that I worked with was nice, didn't seem to have "set hours" but was very kind to call and confirm he was still in the office so I could drop off my sofa pillows. The address in Yelp was incorrect, but has since been updated (like that feature to update a business). All that aside, I had three pillows for my sofa that my dog had chewed threw the zippers some time ago when he was a puppy and I never dealt with it, just put them in a box to keep safe. Each pillow was roughly 18"x18". Was a bit surprised that the repair cost for each was $30 to replace the zipper (just the zipper). That's $90 for the three - while I haven't had other items repaired, just felt expensive. I dropped of my items on a Friday, said it would be ready on Saturday, maybe Sunday. I finally got the call on Monday that they were ready to be picked up. I wasn't in any rush, but was told to expect them ready sooner. Repair quality was good, they do look like new! LOVE my chairs! Sit-Well did an excellent job in re-upholstering two chairs to give them a completely updated look for my living room. Stacy brought HUGE books of fabrics to choose from, and really listened to what I was looking for in my quote request (before she even arrived to meet with me). Stacy, Marta, and Rick were all helpful. The only reason this review is not five stars is because they had trouble running on time from the day they picked up my chairs, to when they committed to dropping them off, and then the rescheduled date of drop off they were again running late. I have had an antique chair of my grandfather's that's about 65 years old. The quality of the chair is incredible, given how old it is. I had been searching for someone that could properly reupholster it, so that it was more my style. I am so thrilled to have found Sit-Well! Amazing. Did a great job of repairing a cushion that my dog had ruined. And it was so fast, even during the holidays.

Horrible experience, poor communication over promised and under delivered. New cushions for patio chairs, they had the original cushions as a template and still couldn't get it right. Sit Well had to remake the back cushions twice and they are still wrong, I gave up on Sit Well. Their customer service is not a confidence builder. Oh my goodness, I got the very best service here. I had a beat up antique sofa and loveseat set reupholstered, the wood refinished, and the foam replaced. My sofas are MAGNIFICENT right now and they were completed in a reasonable amount of time. I am never ever getting rid of them. These are so beautiful that I will pass them down to my children! I got great advice from the very beginning on how I could make it affordable to have my sofas redone (I am a teacher, in AZ so you know I'm just above the poverty line). Rick was great at suggesting fabrics and finishes and let me bring the sofas in myself to save on delivery charges. I had them deliver the couches at the end so there would be no way for me to mess them up. They arrived on time, exactly when they said they would. The workmanship in upholstery and wood refinishing is beautiful. The problem is with the owner Rick and communication overall. There wasn't any paperwork given at the start of the project after I explained my expectations but was told "We'd be in touch". I was unhappy with the result and instead of collaborating on a fix, the owner went into a long explanation (after I chased him down) that they didn't do anything wrong before he even heard my concerns. I wasn't attempting to blame but he went on the defensive immediately. He even said that he had me on videotape in the showroom discussing my choices, which is disconcerting. The wood finish for my chair was supposed to be a warm chocolate honey brown and it came back ebony. Rick stated that some woods take stains differently. When I asked why I wasn't contacted when the color didn't match the sample, he said "We do thousands of chairs and don't have time to call everyone". The insert in the cushion was a foam core with down wrapping. It was returned without a foam core and no one asked me if this was okay, which it's not for an all-feather fill because it feels like you're sitting on cement after the feathers have compressed. Rick promised to call me back to see if there was something that could be done after talking to his wood refinisher. I never heard from him. I have to sell my beautiful chair now because it's hideous and uncomfortable. I trusted this man and this business as I've used them before but clearly, I won't again. read more

Also Rick was to powder coat 4 chaise lounge chairs. Have paid for all the invoices and he has not returned any of the items. Won't take calls and won't return the items. Sit Well agreed to stain our furniture to match our existing pieces (and they took the pieces with them!) and returned everything way too dark with a red hue too! The girl, Jennifer, who did the furniture even agreed-she said her mentor quit on her...she was disappointed that it didn't work out and then (Rick said) they would pick up the furniture and fix it...so far NADA. They were paid to stain our furniture-BUT NOT RED/BLACK! They haven't returned to our home, nor returned calls since the mail box is FULL and has been for weeks...if they couldn't do this job correctly, why did they accept this..? Rick was enthusiastic and said to start "envisioning" and we said, "ok" although we never heard from him again and if they came back and re-did the furniture, I promise you, I will re-write this...zero stars would be more appropriate! I wanted two cushion covers made for a client. I brought in covers from another set so they would have an example of what I wanted. I told them that I needed the covers returned to me and that they were valuable. They threw out one of the covers and only returned one to me. The original covers were from a high-end set from the 60s and can not be replaced. I ask to have the owner call me so we could discuss this matter. I never got a call. I didn't expect this from a family owned business. read more

I was robbed by Rick the owner for $7000.00 He stole my $2000 cash deposit as well 18 yards of fabric at $400.00 a yard. Plus his so called staff Stacy, Thomas and all his sewers are in on it. Rick and his staff steals your good fabric then re sales it. Plus they make sure to ruin all your projects and make it your fault so they can up charge you and make it your fault. I even had to ask Stacy the "supposedly" designer who was also involved in robbing me to take notes which she did not. I have been a designer for 40 years and have never ever encountered having to contact the police just to recover and get my fabric back. I am suing them for theft and fraud. I was also forced to contact the police to be able to remove whatever Rick and his workers didnt steal from me or ruin. read more

We had a great experience with Sitwell from start to finish. We had our outdoor couch and large ottoman reupholstered and the metal framing refurbished and we couldn't be happier. It looks like a new set of furniture. We received a cost estimate and we were charged exactly what was quoted with no surprises. This whole experience was upsetting from start to finish. Rude customer service and unprofessional conduct seems to be the norm here. I will say the actual finished product looks great but it took a MONTH longer than they said it would! And no discount was given for the absolutely ridiculous delay! I didn't even get notified - if it wasn't for me pestering them asking "is it done yet" lord knows when I would receive my order. Quality of work? Pretty good. Everything else? Horrible. read more
