Beautiful interior with a very comfortable vibe. There is also an outdoor seating area which looked awesome. Staff was all very friendly and service was quick - we were there for lunch on a Saturday along with maybe a dozen other tables and some people at the bar. My wife and I ended up ordering some small plates - While the main items on the menu looked like they would be good we decided we wanted to try a few different items. We ordered crispy Brussel sprouts which were very tastey! And bang bang shrimp which was my favorite from what we tried. The third item we ordered was the beef tips - they were prepared as we requested and had good flavor. My friend and I went to the Sitting Duck for the first time for dinner on a Friday night and were pleasantly surprised. I have been to the Sitting Duck in Stratford, but the location is Oxford is extremely inviting and comfortable. For an appetizer, we ordered pierogies, which were amazing. I am part polish, so i might be biased, but these pierogies really hit the spot. They were topped with bacon, onion and sour cream. For an entree, I ordered the chicken BLTA which i really enjoyed. While I really like Sitting Duck, i found it very interesting that their menu is the exact same as SBC in Milford. After doing a little more digging, I found they are both owned by the same owner which was surprising! Thought that was an interesting fact. Will definitely be back to Sitting Duck. read more

We were in town visiting friends and wanted to get a bite to eat. I am really glad we chose to dine at this place. We started off with a classic calamari with marinara sauce. The portion was large but in all actuality I would have preferred less and the actual calamari being bigger pieces. The actual pieces were a bit on the small side. For my meal I had the steak tips with a side of sautéed spinach. I loved my meal the tops were cooked perfectly and the spinach was perfect. A nice sized portion. My girlfriend had the disco duck and unfortunately the meal was not what was expected. She then had a different entree, the grilled cheese with a side salad, and she liked it. Overall, we were totally impressed with the restaurant. We were willing to pay for the first entree my girlfriend did not like but the waitress actually took it off our tab, a nice gesture. read more

We used to like this restaurant when it first opened, and it has been going downhill for a while, but we gave it one more try tonight. Ordered the Goulash special and it literally had just potatoes and noodles with no meat. I told the waiter, and he said the manager was too busy to talk to us and disappeared for the rest of the night. We ordered a round of drinks with him before he disappeared and after 15 minutes another waitress saw us and brought them over. The restaurant did not even have many people in it and the area restaurants were packed. I am guessing they will go out of business because of poor management and not caring at all about their customers. Zero rating- I had to give it one star to post this but it deserves zero read more

The restaurant is located in the new beautiful plaza in Oxford, great little area to walk around. There was a little bit of a wait which I understand since they are short staff as everyone else nowadays. We waited and had a drink at the bar, the bartender was a little rude, could use a smile once in a while. Once we sat at our table the waitress was very friendly so she made up for it. It was my first time here so I had to try a little bit of everything. I highly recommend the pierogis, they were delicious! The French onion soup, not my favorite because it was on the slightly sweeter side but I still enjoyed it. We also order the cheesesteak rolls as an appetizer, those were pretty good. Had an order of the Caesar salad my only complain there was that the croutons were really hard, I thought I was as gonna break a tooth. Next the entrees, I had the 48hr marinated steak tips. I enjoyed them, they were fairly tender, but they did have a little of the charcoal taste to it. Mashed potatoes were very good, they tasted fresh. I have been to this Sitting Duck location a few times now and have yet to be disappointed! I'm always greeted by friendly staff and it's busy but never too crowded to where I'm uncomfortable. There is always a great vibe in here as well. I usually order the lime chicken ranch salad with goat cheese which is amazing! The chicken is a good portion and is always cooked perfectly. It pairs great with the corn and crispy tortilla strips! My husband orders the same or the Thai sesame salad with tuna. We need to branch out and try more as everything on the menu looks delicious! The drinks are also very tasty here too. If you show up on a nice day, you can sit outside on the patio. This location is in a plaza of cute little boutique stores and desserts. There is also a green in the middle with chairs to sit out and relax after dinner. We even caught music there once after eating. Definitely check this place out! read more

My wife and I have never been and we thought we would give it a try. A pretty cool, hip place and a nice bar. Before coming we checked out their website and saw that their burgers were very well priced $14.50 for a cheeseburger with bacon and fries. Beers are about $8 each. Also, if you sign up on their website you get $5 off your first visit. The burgers were really good, perfectly cooked with a nice crispy char on the outside. My only criticism would be that there is no happy hour and they need more local beers on tap. Even so, the beer was good and the total price for dinner and drinks was about $65. I don't get why restaurants don't have happy hour especially when there is such a good one right next door at Char and Lemon. read more

We went here to watch the playoffs. There were 10 of us and we didn't have a reservation. They went out of their way to seat us and we're very nice. The ambiance and service was outstanding. The food was beyond exceptional. We tried most of the apps, the duck wings were the clear winner but the calamari was a close second. We were in the area on a one night vacation for our Anniversary, and found this restaurant using the Yelp app. The food, vibe, and service were excellent. I commented to my wife that it was ashamed that I did not know when we might be able to return to this restaurant. I had the Chicken Alfredo and loved everything about it. From the pasta and sauce, to the Applewood smoked bacon, to the parmesan cheese, to the broccoli. Delicious! The music was great, the service was great. and the outdoor dining and outside fireplace was really nice. Highly recommended, and we lucked out finding this place in an unfamiliar area to us. I've eaten here twice for lunch now and I was excited to try a restaurant in Oxford's newest shopping center, but I didn't feel the food was especially good. It was "not bad." Most recently, I ordered a Thai Sesame Salad with Grilled Chicken. The greens were wilted. The "spicy peanut dressing," which I requested on the side, did not taste particularly spicy, nor fresh; it tasted like it came out of a bottle, which was disappointing since the restaurant mentions its commitment to using fresh ingredients on its website. Our waitress was nice. Interior ambience is "industrial chic," with exposed ceilings, concrete floor and lots of tables clustered around the bar in the center. read more

Party of 18. We called the day before but was told they did not do reservations; however, the day we showed up we were told there was a party of 19 reserved for 7 pm. (I guess there's a difference between a party of 18 versus 19?) When we arrived we were told we could have the upstairs. We put the tables together, but the manager came up and told us we couldn't put the tables together because it was a safety issue being on the upper level. (They wanted us to sit at five separate tables.) The manager never offered alternate accommodations; instead, he told us "we won't serve you sitting this way - it's a fire hazard" and walked away. Mind you, the waitress helped us move the tables, so we didn't do it knowing it was a problem. Our entire party went back downstairs and were standing in the middle of the room near the bar unsure what to do. No one approached us or offered another place to sit (there were many open tables, and the private room was open). We had to ask if we could put tables together on the main level, and we were told yes. By this point, half of our party left, so none of us ended up staying. I'd like to consider us fairly friendly and reasonable people, but we were highly disappointed with the lack of service and unwelcoming attitude. We were 18 new patrons, and unfortunately, we'll be 18 people who won't be going back.. although the employees working there made it seem like they don't care one way or another. WOW! Look at this response. I reread both of my reviews (the one above and the 1st which contains an unintentional and unfortunate typo that I cannot edit) and cannot believe the owner would write such a disappointing response . In my first review I clearly point out that was "in the spirit of constructive criticism" and hope the management would do better. We still continued to patronize this business in the hope that things would improve but indeed had the food quality declined and expressed my sorrow for having to say so. We are great supporters of local businesses but the business environment does not hand out participation trophies, kudos must be earned. The response from the management to my, and other reviews, tells me he really doesn't want to hear from anyone unless you throw undeserved platitudes at him. That's pathetic. Since I received a gift certificate for this restaurant we decided to give it another try. This time we both ordered the Chicken Alfredo. My dinner was with grilled chicken, my wife's dinner was with blackened chicken.Both dinners came with Alfredo sauce, roasted broccoli, bacon, and tossed with rigatoni pasta. We have ordered here so many times it's silly. The food is incredibly consistent. We stick to the salads, sandwiches and burgers. I am partial to their Tavern Caesar salad with grilled chicken. Their chicken is always cooked perfectly and not dry. Hubby gets their Cadillac burger with truffle French fries upgrade, and in-laws get the Milanese Ciabatta sandwich, the Thai Sesame Salad/Sitting Stir Fry with chicken. We usually call in an order Saturdays before 6pm as we've been told they don't take orders when we've called later - simply because they'd otherwise run out of food for in-restaurant diners. Crazy right?! It's located in a relatively new shopping plaza and has a nice outdoor dining area during the summer. Maybe when we reach an endemic state we will visit for an in person experience. Stopped for lunch and some drinks at The Sitting Duck Tavern in Oxford. Good selection of cocktails and beers on tap. Love the broad selection of mules. Got the blackberry and cucumber mule. Both were excellent and not over the top on price. Grabbed a Thai Sesame Salad, added the Ahi Tuna. Tuna was cooked very well but was a tad bland. Mixing it in with the salad vinaigrette helped that. Overall good salad however. The Birdcage chicken sandwich was tasty. Love the hot honey touch. Swapped out reg fries for sweet potato fries. Love those as well. Food came out very quickly, almost like we called ahead. Large open space with good ambience. Servers were friendly and quick to take care of us. Good experience overall. read more

This is our go to place in Oxford CT. We ordered our usual : bang bang shrimps and truffle fries for starters. Fish and chips and the pork cutlets for main course. Their pork cutlets topped with with mozzarella, arugula and cherry tomatoes and Parmesan shavings is our fave. For dessert, we had the lava cake- thought the lava cake was not hot nor warm enough for a "lava" cake and te ice cream was rock hard. We've been frequenting this place for two years now ... pretty consistent except unfortunately the wait for our food is, as always, a long wait like in our previous visits ...and we came in when the restaurant was only half full !!... Dined in for the first time during a Tuesday lunch shift. My friend and I both ordered salads. My friend opted for the Cobb salad and said she enjoyed it. I ordered the lime tortilla chicken salad with a fried goat cheese ball addition. It was fantastic and I am starting to drool as I write this. I think it was the goat cheese ball that did it for me. Note that they dress the salad in the kitchen. Definitely enhances the overall taste for the better - IMO, however if you cannot finish the entire portion- it make the leftover salad a bit soggy. Although I don't even mind that too much either. The goat cheese ball didn't get soggy though :) how many times can I say "goat cheese ball"??? I didn't take a picture- but my salad looked exactly as the one already pictured. I recommend the sitting duck - especially salads with fried goat cheese balls ;) read more

From the friendly and knowledgeable staff to the spot on service this is destined to be a regular stop for all of us. The beer list is great snd the food solid. The fuck wings are not to be missed. Went with 6 people and fit very comfortably into a booth. They have a large bar, plenty of seating inside and outside. They have a second level of seating inside as well. They have a large patio outside as well and my brother tells me they open up large garage doors when the weather is nicer to allow for a more open air feel. Lots of TV's above the bar too. Could be a great place to catch a game. The food was great as well. We had a cauliflower app, the duck wings (amazing), and crispy brussels. For dinner I had the Salmon Piccata. The salmon was perfect and the potatoes and bed of spinach were tasty as well. I would recommend people in the area check it out. read more
