Siunik is always a crowd pleaser. We've been coming here for over a decade now. We can guarantee that the food is delicious consistently! The staff is always so nice to us. There is not a bad choice on the menu here. I always get the Lula plate. When it's described on the menu that it is cooked to perfection, I can honestly say that's not exaggeration. The mushroom, rice, pilaf and cabbage salad is always such a great combo with any of your proteins. We always give baba ganoush with the dish because we end up ordering a large hummus on the side just for leftovers at home because they're homemade. Hummus is so good and better than any other store we've ever purchased from. The combo plate is such a great choice if you're splitting amongst two people and want to get some baklava and hummus on the side or a different type of appetizer. Or if you just want variety the, plate is amazing. I could not recommend this place enough! If you haven't tried Siunik please stop in! Or order it to go. I like the place. LIKE. The food is mostly tasty and I don't REALLY know what any of it is. Sure I get the basic idea. Rice. Kabobs. Etc. But this is not my food ethnically. I can smell the toilets every time I am there. 3 doors side by side-Front door,toilet, toilet. Very much IN the dining area. You can smell it after someone ... ugh. Plurggle plop! Sound disgusting? It is! I want to go every week. I want them to KNOW of this issue. I want them to fix this. Better ventilation. Build a separate add-on space for toilets? There must be an answer. Did a catering order for pickup here on a weeknight. The order was still in the process of being prepared when I arrived at the designated pickup time. The meat was fresh off the grill and packed up and the salads and cabbage was already prepared and ready to go. The food is good as always, just like their lunch specials. Haven't been to many Armenian restaurants, the cuisine is in the Mediterranean family but of course unique as well. Cozy, clean, inviting, and delicious, generous portions. I recommend the mixed grill, unless you are vegetarian. Then, I do not recommend the mixed grill. I love the rice here. I had a chance to see the good service challenged by one of the most annoying customers I've ever witnessed. She had a large order but had to micro-manage with odd troublesome questions for every step of the process. I would have kicked her out. So would Job. But the cook-cashier-waiter patiently served, adjusted, answered, the whole process took so long some of her earlier ordered food got cold. It became apparent she was feeding a party and going to pretend she cooked all the food. So, the restaurant didn't even get credit for what I'm sure was a happily sated larger group. So, if she got good service, I think you will too. Value 4/5- We arrived shortly after opening and purchased two $7.95 lunch specials- a chicken and beef plate with a side salad, hummus, pita, and drink. We got our food to go. The dining area looks like it could possibly have previously been a Subway resturant. Service 4/5- The service was super quick, the staff greeted us and wished us on our way kindly. Food 3/5- The food portion was decent and it was fresh/hot, but the flavor was underwhelming. The salad dressing didn't have much taste. The rice was good and the hummus was what I would expect. The meat portion was on the smaller side and needed a better seasoning. Most Mediterranean restaurants use a variety of vegetables and spices that compliment each other for a bold flavor. You're not going to wander onto this place or at least not likely. It's located off of Waukegan in Glenview. A Yelp search resulted in a bookmark for us and then a visit. Solid! Very solid! We had kabobs. Chicken and pork. Very enjoyable. Properly cooked, nicely seasoned and generous portions. Plus the cook/owner is watchful, making sure everything is as desired. It was our 1st time at Siunik Armenian Grill: we wanted well balanced meal after traveling through Chicagoland. We were impressed by cleanliness of the restaurant and an impeccable customer service. It went smooth and orders arrived in a very timely manner: hot teas, coffee, Lula (Kufta) kabob w Armenian rice pilaf and fresh green salad and baba ghanouj, Chicken kabob w mushroom pilaf, hummus and crunchy cabbage salad, and a steak kabob w buckwheat kasha and tabuleh- excellent combos! We loved our food and the variety of appetizers and side dishes it came with our orders. We finished up our meals w baklava and honey cakes and our hearts melted...reminded us of our favorite meals we shared ages ago with our Armenian friends back in old USSR days. I don't have a finely tuned taste palate for middle eastern food, I'll admit to that. So if I go for shish kabob, falafel, tahini sauce, dill rice - I'm almost always satisfied. I tend to focus on quantity because I'm still refining my taste buds. When I stepped in here, everyone of my Yelp friend's reviews talked about the price point for the lunch plate. But after tasting the beef and chicken and rice, I believe the real focus should be on the flavors, which are a step above. And that hummus is smooth like Denzel, even the owner won't share the recipe. We were also impressed by the service, the lady came from behind the counter and walked over our plates and explained what we were eating. The younger gentlemen explained that they closed their Skokie location on Oakton due to their inexperience but!, they will be reopening a second spot and they are looking at Skokie once more!!!
