I've always wanted to try this place and finally made plans with friends to meet here. It's so pretty and fun with the little news stand inside and the outdoor patio seating. The entrees were amazing - I had the cod, even though my friends tried to talk me out of it, but I love cod. It was so flaky and flavorful and served on a garlicky potato puree that was amazing. We did start with appetizers including the saganaki, but it definitely had sat too long - it was super flavorful but way different than when they bring it out flaming. The hostess and desk staff were fantastic- called our host by name leaving, which was a nice touch. Our server was very funny and personal, but it was a little firm over function- I felt like he was using his personality as a distraction. I would absolutely come here again as I love Greek food and they also have a nice offering of Greek wine - need to try more! read more

This was our first time here for a family wedding shower, and it will absolutely be our last. The staff is consistently rude, from the servers to the hostess. A few "highlights" of our visit: Dishonesty: A server lied and said there was no kids' menu (which is clearly listed on their website) just to avoid a meal substitution. When I asked about ordering chicken tenders, the server told me they didn't have a kid's menu and were only making an "exception" for my daughter. I later found the full kids menu on their website. Instead of simply explaining an age policy, he chose to be dishonest and was visibly annoyed that I even asked. Being Ignored: It took 20 minutes and multiple people flagging down a server just to get one bottle of Coke. I asked the female waitress 3 times for the Coke and she repeatedly looked at me and ignored me. It took 20 minutes and 3 family members calling out to the server to get her attention. Disrespect: The hostess literally put her hand in my face when I politely asked for a to-go bag. I politely asked the hostess for a to-go bag, she actually put her hand in my face and told me to "hold on." When she finally returned, she mean mugs me and handed me the bag without a word even after I gave her an underserved thank you. If this were my party, I'd be demanding a refund. This place makes other local diners look like five-star establishments. Unbelievable and completely disappointing. Will never be returning. read more

My mom and I came on a Saturday night after seeing all the great reviews. The restaurant was very busy and only takes walk-ins, so we waited about 40 minutes in the lobby before being seated. Even though it was packed, we were both able to find parking in the free lot, which was a plus. Once seated, service was quick and friendly. They start you off with warm bread and Greek olive oil, such a simple touch but so good. We ordered the fried calamari to start, and it was fresh, crispy, and perfectly done. For mains, I had the grilled chicken with oven potatoes, and my mom had the pork chop with fries. Both dishes were very good and well-seasoned. Unfortunately, I found a gray human hair in my chicken, which I only realized after it was in my mouth, which was honestly so gross and disappointing because the food really was delicious. The waiter handled it kindly, immediately offering to make a new dish for me. The replacement dish had no issues after that. Up until that moment, I had been raving about the food. My family loves this place. Therefore , when a family Baptism occurred recently, the natural choice of dinner venue was Plateia Mediterranean restaurant. This is a Greek owned restaurant and the menu features Greek cuisine. The food here is consistently delicious. The service is prompt and cordial. The wait staff are efficient and polite. As everyone was seated the food began to trickle out. First a plate with small slices of Pita Bread and 3 different flavors of Hummus. Salad was next to be delivered to our table. The Greek Salad here is so delicious , served with Feta cheese and Pita Bread , that after eating the salad and hummus with pita bread you become sated. But wait ! Now comes the entree. Choices were Salmon, Chicken Ka-Bob, and Beef. I always opt for the chicken ka Bob. The chicken is served on skewers with a tangy Tzatziki sauce, Rice , Pita bread and veggies. It is soooo good. Wine , water , coffee , tea and soda pop were the beverages served for dinner. After dinner we headed for the sweet table which had various delicacies such as torts , cheese cake , baklava , parfait cups and sweet pretzel sticks covered with icing. Most of us requested boxes to take home our delicious leftovers. We were stuffed. Plenty of parking available in their private lot. This restaurant is open to the public and has side rooms to accommodate private parties and weddings. This restaurant is consistently on point with service , food , decor and ambiance. I have been visiting this restaurant since the day it opened and I'm not sure how this is possibly my first or one a few reviews of this place. I am so pleased that they survived Covid and while I did visit them during Covid and saw some of their changes, I'm so glad to see that they have come back in full swing with a full menu This place is always packed as it should be. It is legit and authentic. It is clean and delicious while being consistent. I love coming here because it's nearby instead of going into the city. I love that there's lots of parking however when it's busy, beware there may not be any parking, but it is free if you park it yourself If you're looking for classic dishes and recipes this is the place. Well, 7.5 years after my one and only review of this place, it seems a good time for an update especially as we have had numerous carryouts from here as well as a few dine-ins.  Tonight, our party of 4 had a Friday night dinner at this vibrant, upbeat, and bustling place.  With 1083 Yelp reviews and a 4.3 average rating, it is one of the most reviewed businesses in this area, and their high rating is well deserved. They don't take reservations, so that tables aren't tied up. We still had only a 10 minute wait on a busy Friday night and the place was about 90% full with good turnover.  These guys run a well-oiled machine, and piping hot, high quality, and delicious dishes are brought out fairly readily.  They don't dilly-dally but they don't rush you here either.   So, we ordered: - complimentary hot and very fresh bread with olive oil was brought out - beet salad ($14) and chargrilled octopus ($22) for appetizers - lamb psito (ie, lamb shank), $35 - lavraki (ie, chargrilled branzino) with a side of green beans, $32 - shrimp and linguine, $29 - chargrilled chicken with mixed veggies, $22  For dessert, we shared a strawberry nutella crepe ($10) and an ekmek (a shredded kataifi concoction, $10).  I also had a Fix Greek lager beer ($6), and the last time I had one of those, it was here in 2017, ha. Every single dish including the complimentary bread was tip-top fresh, flavorful, and delicious.  The portion sizes are also good for the prices but we already knew that quite well.  The only slight knocks were that the nutella crepe was a little chewy and not as fresh as everything else.  The green beans were swimming in an oily sauce, but I guess that's the way they serve that side dish.  Otherwise, all was quite excellent, and it was a 5 star dinner for sure.  We've never had ekmek and it was a delightful dessert.  Evangelos was also our very capable, knowledgeable, and engaging all-pro Greek server.  It was also fun just watching him do his thing in a very busy dining room while we were eating. As another aside, I don't know what they're feeding them, but all of the servers were like big and fit football players, just sayin'! The bar room by the entrance was also very active, boisterous, and bustling all night.  The vibrant dining room was also on the loud side fyi.  As I have said in the past, and continue to say, I highly recommend this place as it's one of the best around! read more

Parking lot was larger than expected and unlike most Greek places, there wasn't mandatory valet , at least not on a weeknight. We met at 5p without reservations with just two of us on a Thursday. We were seated immediately. The service was ridiculously fast. We ordered quickly and it seemed the food came within 5 minutes. We were first through fresh bread and were offered more if we wanted it. The bread was denser than other Greek breads and warm. I loved it. I had the pastitsio which was excellent. Not quite as rich as I've had before which I preferred. My friend had the pasta which was creamy and good. The place was pretty much packed by 6 which surprised us for a Thursday but never too loud. They don't take reservations. It gets really busy in the evening after 6:30pm especially on the weekends. Recommend getting there earlier if you have a larger party. Their outside patio looks really nice. If you have a chance to eat outside, you should do it. I came here to celebrate my sister's birthday with my family and they charge you for bringing in a cake outside of the restaurant. The food portions are large and the pricing is great. Had a really nice time on a hot Sunday afternoon. Very nice decor, dined with a party of 7. The group ordered the fried calamari. I'm not a calamari fan in general, but it tasted pretty good. For my main dish I ordered the skewers. One chicken, one pork. They were very good. Good seasoning, great char. The pita was nice and soft, slightly dough just like i like. The vegetables were OK. To start off, we like this place. I know that's not indicative by the stars I left and that's based on the experience I had last night. There were four of us and everyone else was fine and liked their food. I mostly liked my dish, but I do need to leave a review so here goes. We were seated in the bar area. I think from mow on, we're going to ask to sit in the main dining room and will wait until a table opens up in that area. Our table backed up to one of the archway plants and it felt like there were three of us on our side of the table: my wife was on the left, I was on the right, and our child, the plant/tree was in the middle. And we got to feel an annoying chilly breeze every time the front door opened. The chairs are meant to keep you at the table for a minimal amount of time. They are plastic and have this weird curvature on the seat edge where your legs bend and is very uncomfortable for a longer amount of time. Our server seemed friendly but annoyed (just my opinion since I didn't confer with my dining companions). She asked for our drinks and appetizers. I ordered a bowl of the Avgolemeno soup. On this occasion it was not as thick as usual with no chicken pieces and barely any rice in it. I think they just phoned in the making if the soup that day. Next we got our meals. I will say this, my wife ordered a small Greek salad with salmon on the side. I watched our server write it down and then it was delivered with the salmon on the salad. I guess it's the little things, right? Like the attention to details that make or break a restaurant. Not that it really matters as Plateia is always pretty packed. I got the char-grilled chicken. It is deboned. For the live of all things that are holy, please remove the cartilage as well. It was so delightful to constantly have to remove pieces of chicken breast from my mouth after having partially chewed a piece because of the lousy deboning but not de-cartilaging (my new word) the chicken breast. And I think that there was something wrong with the potatoes as it seemed as if there was a skin or wall to the actual potatoes. I can't describe what was going on, but they were weird. I get that restaurants want to pipe in music, but you're not a bar, maybe turn that music down so diners can hear the conversation? Just a suggestion. And I believe I discovered why our server may have been annoyed. There was a 60th birthday party in the bar area. It was unknown to us when we were seated and would have been nice had the host/hostess asked if we were okay with that. I would have said "no". They were loud. As if they were in a private room (they weren't) and we were all involved like a Greek version of Tony & Tina's Wedding. We'll of course go back. We like the food, but I'm gonna keep my eye open for a different place that serves a chicken breast that is free of bones and cartilage and that serves their signature soup with love and not just lemon flavor. read more

Plateia is a winner!!! Seriously some of the best Greek food I've had in a long time! I dined with a large party and everyone was raving about the food. This rivals some of my favorite places in the city. For appetizers, we loved the beets and skordalia, taramosalata, and even the lima beans. The salads were super fresh and dressed well. For entrees, my branzino fish was cooked perfectly as were the lamb chops. The moussaka was rich and filling. This was the first time I visited Plateia for a Saturday lunch. This restaurant is truly extraordinary and compares very favorably to other Greek restaurants I know. It was a beautiful sunny day and I literally felt like I was relaxing on a Greek island. The young woman who greeted me and my server, Christos, were amazing - truly nice people who went out of their way to provide me excellent service. I selected a table in a shady area under a canopy in the patio. All the dishes I ordered were complex, expertly prepared, bd portions were generous. Loved the chicken rigatoni (chicken was tender, potatoes were tasty and the olive oil, lemon, and oregano sauce made everything thing succulent), the beet salad was incredibly delicious and nutritious, the spinach pie (cut in four pieces with a tomato sauce for dipping) was on point, and the three appetizer spreads (scordalia, taramasalata, and tzatziki) are had all the authentic flavors plus a pitted Kalamata olive at the center of each one) and plenty of pita bread plus the house bread basket. I enjoyed all the dishes plus took portions home. Also enjoyed the capuchino flavored with cinnamon. The orange cake in phyllo pastry, was lacking in orange flavor, however - a dousing with fresh-squeezed orange juice and grated orange zest would make the difference. Well I was invited for my friends mom's birthday and this was the first time coming to this restaurant foods apartments delicious. One thing that shocked me is that they didn't have traditional domadres. Nevertheless the food was good we had spinach pie we have the octopus which was very delicious it was cooked char-broiled the only dislike was that you have to cut it and we were a family style and yeah at least he could have been us a steak knife. Ambiance was not your traditional Greek ambiance. More contemporary or modern ambience. Okay service was so far good however the greeter had a really bad behavior and audacity to ask my 2 friends while coming in if our party of 8 was here and the rest of our party was not all here and she gave a nasty attitude. I wish they would have gave us clean plates after we're done with the entree. Or clean utensils after the appetizers. Grateful to be here on the Orthodox Easter with 2 of my close friends to celebrate my 2nd chance in life after the stroke ordeal! We started off with calamari and saganaki. Both was fried to perfection and delicious! For the main dish, I choose chicken kabob. It came with 2 skewers of white meat, tomato, onions, tzatziki sauce and 1 pita bread. The chicken was juicy and well seasoned. There were enough tomato and onions to me to make small sandwiches using the pita. My friend opted for the roasted lamb from their Easter Special menu. She said it was very good. Her husband's chicken and pork skewers entree was equally good! They have a large parking lot with ample spaces for their customers. They gave us bread that was literally steaming, crunchy/hot. They use mustard in their yogurt chicken dish and their lemon potatos which is a different style im not use to but it was very tasty not overpowering. The greek salad (without lettuce) had capers and green peppers but also larger croutons/bread underneath which was a little different too. Chicken was delicious. Potatos were delicious. Calamari was delicious. Large pieces Large portion, came crunchy and hot with a side of marinara. They have a lot on their menu, mostly chicken, pasta, Lamb dishes. And a huge dessert menu. Amazing greek / mediterranean food!!!! I went with my boyfriend + his family on a Wednesday night and we were able to walk right in. The inside was very cute, decorated with tons of holiday decor & had a giant olive tree in the middle of the restaurant. Our service was great too, no complaints!!!!! Everyone was blown away at how delicious the food was. We started with saganaki which did not come with pita or bread, so i would ask for some on the side when you order this. I got a greek salad with salmon + a side of pita and tzatziki. The pita was the best pita bread I have ever had. It was served warm and was soooo soft and pillowy. My wife & I went to Plateia with 2 other couples for a holiday dinner (pre- Christmas) because the restaurant is equidistant to the three of us. It has ample parking and it was quite busy as expected. Although they don't take reservations for groups of less than 8, we didn't wait long to be seated. About the food - the appetizers were excellent, we ordered the hummus platter, grilled octopus & fried calamari which was soft & crunchy. Their Negroni was perfect for my taste. My wife had the Lavraki (grilled branzino) and I had the lamb Kokinisto which was great. The restaurant was nicely decorated for the season and not overwhelming. The Waiter wasn't very friendly and seldom checked on us. The Greek chicken was presently nicely but was lukewarm with no lemon. I had to flag down the bus boy to bring me lemon and extra bread. We went to Plateia last night with two other couples and were seated at 6:40pm. We noticed the place was very busy with servers and bus boys going back and forth. A number of times they would look over at us but no one ever came by. Ten minutes passed, then fifteen, twenty, finally after twenty five minutes we got up to find a server. We let them know we hadn't been served yet and finally, five minutes later someone came by to take our drink and appetizer order and give us a basket of bread. After our appetizers the server came back to take our dinner order. That was the last we saw of them. We sat there waiting for our dinner for 45 minutes with empty drink glasses and bread basket. A number of times the manager came into the room but the server never came back. No one ever asked if we needed anything, another drink, more bread, nothing. The server walked by a few times during that span but never even glanced over to us. Finally after 45 minutes we got their attention. We politely said we know it's busy and asked about our food order. The server just snapped back in a rude tone that they put the order in after they took it and it will be here soon. Five minutes later they passed by us and said it's coming any minute. It finally came about ten minutes after that. It was brought out by a bus boy. At no time did the server ever come back to check on us, ask if we needed anything or give a sincere apology. After dinner we asked a bus boy, who was friendly and hard working by the way, to see the manager. The manager came over and we told him how terrible the service was. He didn't seem to care. no sincere apology. None of us will ever go back. read more
