We called a couple of B&B's, and based on the phone conversations, we decided to check out Port City Guest House.. As soon as we walked in the house I knew it was going to be a place my girlfriend was going to want to stay. She loves old houses, decorated with a Victorian style flare, the house was beautiful. We were greeted by the owner of the B&B Sophie, she was so friendly and very accommodating, we loved her, and the house and booked for 2 nights. Sophie went way out of her way to make us feel at home. She asked us what we like to eat, not just for breakfast, but just about everything. I think she was even disappointed the first night to find out we went out to a pub and ate some Pizza, I think she wanted to make us dinner. Her breakfast the next morning was amazing with eggs, sausage, bacon, waffles and toast with "real butter".. Lol.. If you stay here you will understand what that means! Thanks to Sophie and Port City guest house our stay in Wilmington is one we will cherish for the rest of our lives .. Thank you Sophie Johnson !!

Sophie is a wonderful hostess; she thinks of everything - and more! She serves an excellent and generous breakfast - and more! She clearly cares about her guests; we will be back.

The Front Street Inn places you smack dab in the middle of everything downtown Wilmington. It's not…read moreyour traditional Inn with a check in desk and bellmen; rather you check in with an entry code sent to your email before your stay. There is no official front desk, so we spoke with the people at the stand by the parking lot, and they were able to share information and assist bringing my parents' bags to their room, up a flight of stairs. There's a small sitting area on the balcony outside the rooms, and each room has its own unique decor. We love the eye for detail and design. Our room is The Hamptons, with two double beds and a separate room with TV and sitting area and desk (though it is open to the bedroom because no doors exist in the doorway; it would be cool if they had sliding doors to separate the spaces). The bar downstairs is lively and fun with amazing cocktails and a few small bite options, and it operates from the backyard yard of the Inn, so be prepared for a bit of noise from that and the street to filter into the room especially on weekends. This bar doubles as the Concord Espresso House that serves amazing espresso drinks and pastries in the morning. The indoor seating is low key elegant, a great spot to sit and start your morning.

The reason they stated is the rate went up and the "good news" is the room is still available for $1000. Avoid!

The rooms were in great shape, wonderful view and THE BEST location on the beach... The fishing was great (we actually caught a sting ray!) and the children had a blast with all the other kids staying in the same complex. I cannot wait to return to Coral Surf and relax again! We booked unit A1 through Richard for the weekend and we absolutely loved it. The whole process was…read moreeasy from start to finish. Richard was easily reachable and quick to answer any questions prebooking, the booking process and the check in process were quick, clean and simple. Once we got to the condo, it was exactly as described. It was clean, cozy and well decorated, it felt exactly like a home away from home. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils, pots/pans and dinning wares. All the bedrooms have TVs with cable and beds were comfy. We spent most of our time on the patio, the view is excellent and it has a high top table which is perfect for the space. Even if you use this condo in the winter season or you have a bad weather day on vacation it has two sliding glass doors that take up the entire front wall so you can still enjoy the view. Richard has been sure to keep the condo updated with lots of little touches like providing the grocery and movie savings cards for local businesses, keeping a good stash of books for beach reads or rainy days. The house even has a landline, which is especially useful for safety concerns of guests who may forget the address in an emergency. The condo is in walking distance to a great local serviced grocery, the lake and in the summer the Carolina Beach Farmers market. You area also able to walk, bike or uber to pretty much anywhere on the island as it is centrally located. We didn't get to enjoy the pool or the beach itself as it was too chilly, but it would only be a bonus to a great experience. Even though the condo was was wonderful, I think the real selling point here is Richard he offers reasonable prices and it a pleasure to deal with, I have rented from others in the same area before and not had such a pleasant experience. Richard is the best, he was always just a call or text away- he worked with us on our check in/check out and was even so gracious as to let us a steal a few extra hours in the condo at the end of our trip. I cannot say enough good things about this condo and Richard, I don't think you could be disappointed!!

Everything is new and very well put together. Location is great. Well southport is not huge so you can walk everywhere:) but the house is on a quiet street about a block from the ocean and about 5min walk to everything else. Cathi and her husband comes to cook breakfast and it truly amazing! You sit down at the table with the other guest and they serve you different dishes every day. I ate the best blueberry waffles ever... It's a little strange to sit down with the other guests since we are not used to that. But we really enjoyed it a lot and met some lovely people, and some strange ones;) We stayed in the Key West Room and I think it is the smallest. Big enough for the two of us. There is a nice veranda to enjoy a glass of wine ( that you will find in the fridge) and even bug spray to keep you safe:) Recommend this place if you are looking for a B&B!
