Returned my car on time to Sixt at DFW and had an employee confirm everything was complete. Hours later I was charged a late fee claiming the car was returned 7 hours late. Now being asked to "prove" the return--even though no receipt was provided and their own system (scan logs, cameras, etc.) holds that information. Days after the return of a rental vehicle thru SIXT, I received an email indicating that I damaged the rental vehicle during my use. I've attempted to contact SIXT to request information of this claim against me. The damage reported to me is SUPPOSEDLY underneath the vehicle. During my usage, the vehicle was NOT involved in any type of damage/mishap. During pickup of the vehicle, there was a smell of marijuana. In an effort to continue on my journey and not complain, I purchased an air freshener. Of course, the vehicle was properly cleaned prior to my use regarding the interior of exterior. Yet, I cleaned the vehicle myself without complaining during my usage. In regards top the claim, the company sent me a notification to make a payment of $1,695.63 by 10/06/2025. I canceled the reservation a week before because they said cancel and rebook. They charged me a $100 cancellation fee, then the prices went up. Made a reservation in Denver for $599 and they conveniently lost the reservation charging us over $900 for the same car. The reviews speak for themselves as the DFW Sixt location is worthy of criminal investigation. They offer "free" upgrades, but when you get the invoice, it reflects high charges for things like "choice upgrade" that were never agreed to. This does not happen by mistake. The counter agents lie to customers and enter these charges into the system. Trying to get these things resolved with Sixt customer service is extremely painful and ineffective. I just submitted a BBB complaint to dispute a bogus invoice and I highly encourage others to do the same. This company should be shut down for dishonest business practices. Never again! When I brought the vehicle back 10 days later I reminded them of the refund and was told don't worry about it ,they will take care of me. 4 days went by and still know refund, so I drove back to the office and spoke with the supervisor and was told he submitted the paper work that day and will be added back to my card. 11 days go by and still wasn't added to my card. Zero stars!! This is the worst car rental experience I've ever had. I've traveled all over the world never having a issue with a car rental company. I reserved a compact car online for 3 days while my vehicle was in the shop. I get to the location for them to tell me even though I was able to book the compact car online, that vehicle wasn't available. The only vehicle they had was a VW SUV which was more expensive. Instead of honoring the price that I booked they made me pay more since the SUV was considered an upgrade. They didn't have any other vehicles so I didn't have a choice. The walk around process for the vehicle was a joke. I was told to take pictures of scratches and dents that were big enough to be noticed. The employee didn't even write anything down when I pointed out scratches. I brought the car back about 30 minutes before it was due. I was in a rush to pick up my vehicle that I owned because I also needed to pick up my son from school. I specifically asked when the hold would fall off my credit card bc I was paying with a debit card. I was told it would fall off right away. The car was fine when I left. They actually rented out to a customer that was in line in front of me because she wanted an SUV. Again they were low on inventory. Since there were no issues I was shocked the next morning to wake up to pictures of scratches on the car door in a email saying I damaged the vehicle. Now, I had a $500 hold on my credit card and over $800 being held by them on my debit card. This is absolutely ridiculous!! I filled out the paperwork and sent pics back to their Sixt damage department...still nothing. I haven't heard anything from them. My sister is a travel agent. I've let her know never to refer her clients to Sixt. This experience was horrible. I need management to rectify this situation asap! Do not rent with them! I gave this company a try and they gave me a crappy car and said it was an upgrade. Then I had to keep it 2 hours longer and they charged me a whole day. But that's the least of things. When I returned the car everything was fine. The next day I'm told I did damage to the car. They showed a picture of a tire the was sliced. When I complained and said that it was impossible that I did that. They "investigated" and told me I lied and they are charging me $832! This is so fraudulent and impossible. I thought that they were a higher end rental car co since they rent Mercedes and BMWs. Even though I was only renting a Kia Rio I still expected it to be clean. First it smelled like smoke. I'm a non smoker and pretty sensitive to it. Second every single window was not just filthy, but streaked and filmy inside and out. So much so that I had the guy rewash them again before I left. I had to go up to the roof with him and wait in the car while he sprayed them with cheap window cleaner and paper towels. Third the car itself was covered in water spots. The side mirrors too. (See pics) It was dark and late at night when I got the car so I didn't notice until the next day. I called to report this and was just told that they would log my complaint. We rented a car from Sixt for the 1st time on 03/21/23. We were excited to try Sixt for the first time but quickly became disillusioned upon learning how customer service treats their customers. Shortly after renting the BMW X3, we noticed a strong vibration in the vehicle while driving over 30 mi/hr. We soon discovered the vibration was caused by a large bubble on the sidewall of the tire. We contacted customer service immediately, prior to taking any action and were advised that Sixt had no business relationships with any service company in the state of Missouri. We were then advised to take the vehicle to the nearest tire shop, have the tire repaired or replaced and they would later reimburse us for the repair upon receiving the invoice. The Firestone tires manager in Joplin Missouri determined that the tire was defective and needed replacement. We acted in good faith and had the tire replaced at a cost of $347.36, then sent the invoice to Sixt customer service as directed. Since then, we've been asked to supply the repair invoice, copy of credit card statement, and to provide a letter from the manager of Firestone stating the tire was defective. We've provided all the information requested multiple times. Sixt is now refusing to reimburse us for the repair. They were totally dishonest and deceitful with their original claim that if we replaced the tire, we'd be promptly reimbursed. We've replaced a defective tire at a cost of $347.36 and somehow Sixt customer service feels they're justified in making their customers replace and pay for their defective tires. We rent vehicles a couple times each year and have never experienced such horrific treatment from a rental company customer service department. If you're considering renting from Sixt, you should seriously consider "Rent the Car" from any company other than Sixt. read more

If there is a negative star or very bad service, that is what I would rate this company. I have been renting with Enterprise, Avis, Budget and this was my first time to use SIXTH. I wanted to try it and rent a luxury car using Expedia. Directions or address given to this location was hard to find. I usually rent near my house but this time I decided to try to rent one from DFW airport SIXTH. Waited and finally got an attendant to assist. She found my reservation and she didn't sound excited that it was from a third party booking. She offered me insurance and I respectfully replied that I took the online insurance and would not need any at the moment. Then she ask for my payment and I handed her my PINK mastercard (VS). Then she said, SIXTH is not accepting store credit cards. I told her I only have store cards but I was told I can use them anywhere as long as the logo VISA or Mastercard was on it. BUT she said SIXTH is a high end rental and they do not accept those. I asked them to produce a document showing me that it was the rule. The manager was called and he said they DO NOT have any paperwork to show me that it was the rule. I told the manager I am not happy at all. I paid Expedia and I cannot cancel anymore because the time for pick up has passed. Expedia already took my money. I offered my debit card from a bank that has the logo of VISA and yet I was declined again. I ask if I can pay cash, and again they said no. THERE was really NO OPTION for me to rent the car because I do not have a non-store credit card. I was even asked my I do not have a credit card. I told them I dont like credit cards but in the stores they always offer it so one of those days, I said yes, so I get some promotional items with it. Anyways, the SIXTH manager canceled my booking, BUT I had to ask EXPEDIA for the refund. That I have to explain to Expedia why it was canceled. I ask for a document to show Expedia that it was the SIXTH DFW that canceled my booking and I was told they cannot give me any paperwork as well. I requested a photo of the action being canceled from their computer and the manager obliged. NOW, I am in a spot of fighting with EXPEDIA to give me my money back and without a car, wasted time and effort to find their place to only be very very disappointed. TO SIXTH, please place a big sign online or on your store that you are not accepting store credit cards so that future clients would not even waste their time looking at your cars. It is NOT FAIR. I'm the least bit happy. Prior to renting a vehicle from here - I read the yelp reviews. It was slightly mixed, which was also why I thought, it would possibly be different for me/giving them the benefit of the doubt.... I asked for the Mercedes or Volvo but also made a note that I specifically did NOT want a certain Vovlo (if i'm paying for the usage, please commit). Upon my arrival to SIXT - I find out neither the Mercedes nor Volvo I wanted was avail, and the only one avail would be the one I did NOT want. It was the car I did NOT want or a Cadillac (which they said I would have to pay for the upgrade, when I feel like - I should have been informed HOURS prior about this aside from walking in on this). SIXT is extremely different from the usual - Thrifty, Enterprise, etc. I ended up with a Toyota Corolla, so you can only assume how happy I am (Not.One.Bit). On top of this, they had some issues within the staff (wrong car keys, not knowing if the car was on the lot). I had to leave for 10 mins to grab a drink at the bar so they could get it all situated. Also, on top of me paying - they also do a $200 deposit that you get back once car is returned, just as ridiculous as me having to provide 2 forms of utility bill and whatnot for address purposes. This was the most redundant thing I had to go through, just to get a damn rental. What would take 20 minutes, this horrible ordeal took me over an hour. Will never rent from SIXT again. read more

I have been cheated. Sixt Car Rental quoted me a rate of $66 a day for a VW Jetta. When I check in at DFW airport I was told I was getting a free upgrade. The car i was given (an Infinity) had a flat tire so i had to go back inside and wait again. I was then given a BMW 3 series. I had to extend by one day. SIXT charged me $245.80 a day plus tax and extras for a total of $1,016 I call their Custome service and was told they opened a complaint ticket. I called two weeks later and was hung up on three times. On the last call I was told I was aware of the charges and the case was closed. I would never rent a car at these rates. If you go to the SIXR web site a 3 series is $143 a day. I'm mad that I have been hung up on three times and believe SIXT do this bait and switch regularly. I don't understand all the bad reviews for sixt. My experience was awesome! Jasmine was so great to me, highly recommend asking for her!!! Super kind and helpful and even gave me a free upgrade to a Q5!! Check in was super quick and easy. Couldn't be happier with this experience. She instructed me to avoid the tolls because it'll be a $5 extra charge per camera you pass or you can pay $70 for all tolls total with them. Luckily the q5 has a setting in the navigation which avoids all tolls so made traveling super easy and no worries. Bring the car back to the airport, lady is finding micro scratches and other minor blemishes (a car wash would resolve them) walks around with the clip board, states we may or may not be held reliable. She was not too concerned. 4 months later, here come the emails stating we owe $600 for scratches however centimeters long ect. Just last week I get a call, guy is from collections and said he will report the unpaid issue to the credit bureau. The pick up and drop for the rental car was normal like any others rental company, the unit pick up was decent and clean every thing like normal. I picked a premium car so I would not have PROBLEMS with the car. Three days after I went to dinner when I came back to my rental car I found the driver seat back support was all the way down like a bed I tried every thing you can do you name it I did it including googling the car, and watching YouTube videos on it. the seat stayed down. I decided to do what anyone in my situation would do I called customer support. The guy who answered the phone and after I explained my situation to him. His answer was "this is NOT an emergency I can't send you roadside assistant and we have only one office at Dallas that is closed right now so just drive the car like this until tomorrow and go back to the airport (a 45 min drive) and change the car" I told him that it is not safe at all to drive the car like this, and that if I get in a car accident I will die. The answer he gave me was careless and dangerous. "Sir I can't help just drive it like that and take your chance" I drove the car for 45 minutes I was so terrified for my safety it was the worst 45 minutes driving experience of any trip I have ever taken. This was the worst car rental experience I have ever had! My wife and I were going to Dallas on vacation back in March 2021 when we decided to pre book online at SIXT car rental at the Dallas Airport couple months prior so we can lock in a price for a premium vehicle. When we got there they told us that they didn't have any premium vehicles available except for a volvo station wagon. Uhhh sorry that is not a premium vehicle in my book and certainly not what the pictures presented when we booked on booking.com. Now this is when the experience went down hill so fast that I would warn everyone and anyone to never trust what someone at the desk tells you. We dealt with Elizabeth Paz. She told us she was transferred from her home state of Arizona to the Dallas Six Car rental because she got offered a good position. Hmmm I wondered why. Well I come to find out that she is a sheister and a liar and their number 1 producer at this location.... well no surprise 1st lie she told us was that there were no premium vehicles available at this time. Truth: There were about 4 of them on the lot and another 5 of them on the way and all we had to do was wait 20 min for them to be cleaned. How do they define a premium vehicle? She refused to clarify when I asked her if the Audi sitting on the lot is comparable to the mercedes we reserved. She is a liar plain and simple. How do I know? Well because I discovered later when I went to return the vehicle back that a different agent told me I can choose between the audi and other couple luxury vehicles on the lot as comparable reservations. 2nd lie: She said she would upgrade us from a mercedes rental which would have costed us $630 for 10 days to a range rover for only an extra $120 dollars. Well guess what, we get back to our hotel room only to find out the bill was for over $2,300! 3rd lie, she said that she would not charge us to add a 2nd driver but lo-and-behold we were charged $130 for the 2nd driver and were told we cannot remove that feature even when we brought the range rover back after not even 5 hours of driving to get our originally promised $630 deal. 4th lie, she said that because we booked on booking.com that they would have to cancel that reservation in order to give us the deal we were looking for. Well it looks like they canceled that so they could side step the commission that booking would take and the sales rep could take the credit and commission. 5th lie, she said she credited back our deposit through booking.com and that it would take about 10 days to receive it. Well we found out that this was a lie when we went to return the range rover back to get our originally promised deal and the manager told us that there was no record of her actually putting in a request for the refund. Even the manager was a little shady and he never once accomodated us with any extras or credits for the epic lie we got swindled into. All he told me was that they would take back the range rover and give us another type of premium vehicle but I had to fill up the tank back to full first. Well guess what. I got a Volvo truck with 35,000 miles, that had a leaking window on the passenger side, broken fog light, scratches everywhere, stunk inside and many other things I could complain about. I am telling everyone stay away from this car company. I have dealt with so many other car rental places and this one was by far the worst and shadiest of them all. Oh and did i tell you that when we discovered we got billed for $1,700 over our original reservation I called customer service first and they refused to give me the phone number for that location. That is why my wife and I decided to just drive the vehicle back and complain in person and not wait for the next day to speak to a customer service agent. STAY STAY STAY AWAY!! Trust me. Being local we had the luxury of renting from any rental center since we have a car to travel to and from. We had family coming in town for the big OSU v TCU game and needed a 7 passenger vehicle for a few days to get to and from dinners and Jerry's World. I read a lot of reviews and looked at a lot of fleets before deciding on SIXT and unfortunately we will never be renting from them again. From the time we arrived to the time we left it took an hour and a half to get our vehicle. When we walked up to the counter no one was present. We stood there for 15 minutes looking around and asking hotel employees and no one had a clue where the rental car agents were! They finally appeared and made a smirky remark about having to also "run the cars". I was still hopeful things could turn around after looking through their laminated glossy booklet with their beautiful fleet. I mentioned to the gentleman that we choose their service because we heard they offered the best cars. He laughed and stated "not this weekend they're all coming back damaged so there's slim pickings for you guys!" Ugh. We didn't end up with either car we anticipated in the category we paid for (GMC Acadia or Cheve Traverse) we got a KIA Sorento. I asked if the car was in good condition and he said it was! As we stood there a long line formed behind us and you can tell the energy in the room we deflating. The process took way longer then it needed to. In all the time we've rented vehicles we've never had a check in process take 45 minutes. He printed the contract and then mumbled the toll fees of $5 per camera and of course we stopped him (they're right off the tollway!) and asked to clarify and he said "oh we offer a $10 daily pass if you'd like that instead" ahh yes. Duh! So he had to reprint the contact... Finally it was time to go out front and wait for our vehicle. I left with my car and my husband stayed at valet to wait for the rental. He called me 30 minutes later and said he finally got the car! Even the valet service called back a few times to see what the hold up was. My husband walked back inside and both guys were chatting it up and enjoying themselves. My husband says "where's my car!" Oh yes I'm sorry we can go get it for you... Terrible customer service. Vehicle was subpar. It smelled was scratched up on the front and rear bumper. It was a waste of an hour and a half when we could have gone to Hertz and had a better vehicle in less then 30 minutes. I would give this company 0 stars if I could. I rented a car this past week and was given a very dirty Chevy Traverse. I returned the car and then get an final bill estimate in my email telling me that they are charging me a $250 cleaning fee to vacuum some dog hair from the interior of the car. Do they not have to vacuum the car anyways before they rent it out again? I was told they needed to take it to a place to get it vacuumed because they do not have the equipment on site. $250 cleaning fee is extremely excessive for some dog here that can be easily vacuumed. I will never rent from this company again. They are extremely inferior to the other major brands. This charge is very unethical. I have never experienced this with any other rental company and I've had to take my dog to daycare and back using other rental cars and was never assessed this type of fee. Update: Their customer service department gave me a $25 credit. So I paid $225 to vacuum a car. There will be no servicing me in the future Chrystal. Wow, this is what rental car companies should strive for. Got a brand new Cadillac CTS with all the bells and whistles, unlimited toll pass and prepaid fuel for about $80/day! The check in process was super easy, the staff were very polite. Very minimal upsells, in and out in about 5 minutes. Car return is even easier, you just park it at the designated parking anytime 24/7, just leave the keys at the hotel's front desk (after normal business hours). This location is off the airport, and located inside the Marriott Quorum hotel in Addison, TX - about 15 minutes from Love Field. From the airport, just use Lyft or Uber (there are tons of cars) for about $13. Taxi will cost you $40. Tip: Double check with your credit card if they automatically cover rental insurance (many credit cards do). If not, get the additional insurance because are really expensive cars. read more

Possibly the worst rental car company in the country. Rented a car from here while in Dallas for work a few weeks back, I'm 23 and car company's usually charge me a underage driver fee of $20/day. All good as I understand the policies and why they're in place. However, this company failed to disclose an underage driver fee of $50/day. Absolutely ridiculous. Dirty car, extremely unprofessional customer service reps, terrible drop off locations. Oh, and while the base price seems reasonable, you get many additional charges added at the time of drop off.
