I arrived around 8:30 PM on a Friday night to pick up my rental car. Experience is as how it should be, fast but personable. I was able to get through the line in 10 minutes (desk people were fantastic). I had reserved a Chevy Malibu or comparable. As we were walking out the attendant was like I don't think we have any full size sedans for you and was quick to give me this Outlander. Outlander had 9000 miles on it and was in pretty good condition. Car return has no drama either with no up charges. Overall this is everything you want in a car rental company. I put 220 miles on my car in 60ish hours. I'd rent again from this Alamo location in a heartbeat. I wish more were like this location. read more

When things don't go right, that's when you find out what kind of company you are dealing with. Our rental developed an "alert" related to the air-bag system which was very concerning. Blake (don't have a last name) who is one of the managers at DFW Airport location did a stellar job resolving the situation after the local Weatherford Enterprise dealer failed miserably. Not only did he drive from Dallas to Weatherford to deliver a replacement vehicle, the entire rental fee was waived...we were there for 4 days! Alamo - THAT is the reason we will rent from you again. I rented a vehicle from Alamo Rent A Car through the USAA Perks program for my husband to drive from Missouri to Colorado for his daughter's graduation. My husband is a veteran, and as a longtime USAA member, I trusted that booking through this program would provide a smooth and reliable experience. Unfortunately, that was not the case -- and I want to be very clear that this situation was NOT USAA's fault in any way. The issue was entirely with Alamo's lack of transparency and communication. We completed the "Skip the Counter" process, paid the $225 rental fee in advance, and expected everything to go smoothly. After selecting the vehicle and proceeding to the exit gate, we presented the driver's license and the credit card used for the reservation. Only then were we informed that an additional $400 deposit was required because we lived more than 100 miles away from the rental location. This information was never disclosed during booking, payment, or the Skip the Counter process. To make matters worse, I specifically called the day before pickup to confirm everything was in order and asked if there would be any issues. At no point did anyone mention this additional deposit requirement. Had we been informed beforehand, we could have planned appropriately or made different arrangements. Because our credit card had a $500 limit, we were unable to complete the rental and were left stranded despite already paying for the reservation and following all of Alamo's instructions. This experience was stressful, embarrassing, and completely avoidable. Hidden policies and poor communication ruined an important family trip for a veteran trying to attend his daughter's graduation. I am extremely disappointed in Alamo's customer service and transparency, and after this experience, I will never rent from Alamo again. read more

During this visit to Dallas we needed a bigger vehicle than Sixt had. The Honda Odyssey minivan is perfect for 5 adults plus our new granddaughter. Check in was online during our shuttle ride to the rental center. It can be done without going to the desk if you want as well. When we walked out to get our van we were greeted and given some options of vans to choose from. The van worked great for our visit and will likely be the vehicle we rent in the future when visiting. Well well well, I only paid $58 and $16 for the JEEP wrangler, new edition, 24 hours. They said they'd give me a free upgrade since my last visit wasn't the greatest! I had a Corolla, a new one, which I wanted because I wanted to save on gas, but I didn't know the new Corolla was the slow version. This jeep was the slow version too, they both save on gas! Rental car with no tire after having a blow out! I had a tire blow out recently call to get assistance with n help. They wouldn't send a tow-truck nor anyone to BRING a tire, to get me back on the road. The vehicle did not have a spare tire. I, along with my 3 children sat on the side of rural road for over 12 hrs. The call center is a scam. They kept using the " if you don't feel say, call the police,' rebuttal. Each time I called in hopes of getting assistance they would either not allow me to speak, say there were no available drivers to send to you to get you to the next alamo, or hang up. But low and behold, when a family member called Uber they were there in less than 8 minutes. But allow said for over 12 hours there were no available drivers, Uber, taxi available. So glad I read reviews and chose to go with Alamo for my car rental during my short stay in Dallas . Priceline reviews and google reviews show that out of all of the companies available to rent a car from that Alamo was the highest rated in terms of service , customer satisfaction and overall experience and I can attest to that having rented with two other companies here in Texas during my last two visits. We rented from Alamo 8/1-8/4. We got in at 11:30 pm and to the rental location by 11:40. The desk was only staffed by two people but they weren't busy. Went through the check in process and were in an upgraded vehicle within 5 minutes. It was a 2025 Ram with only 12** miles on it, very clean. The only thing that took a while was the exit process out of the parking garage the cars are kept in. There were three cars ahead of us and only one booth open. Alamo, Enterprise and National share an area of the parking garage and exit the same way. Would still recommend especially for the convenience of it and the staff being so quick and friendly. read more

Wow! I just had the bestest experience ever at Alamo Rent A Car, this is a true story, back from Dallas Texas and this was my conversation with my other half, during our recent walk at the park. FYI/Notes, Hawaii Resident, if you have HGEA union membership, check out the benefits. Thank you Alamo for the union discount, I had did a search via Car Rentals and Costco travel and HGEA benefits came out cheaper, by over $50.00, this is a great savings! Also if you are returning the rental car especially at night its a little harder to see and find Alamo even via car GPS and my phone's gps. We were lost looking for it and drove thru the toll area ( paid $6. for a mistake that could be avoided, hehe) Allow yourself time upon returning car. Do Prepay for gas, I realized it was actually cheaper than filling it ourselves. I made a mistake to do this, since I had plan to fill up at Costco but we couldn't find one on the way back. We got in to Dallas early 6 am and took the shuttle, to the Rent a Car center. we were the only customer there, the front desk staff was friendly and quick( didn't get his name) we got our documents, initial, signed and our car super quick. No hassle at all from the staff, making us get the extra insurance coverage. We were happy with our Toyota Corolla and the car was super new with only 500 miles and we were out of there in less than 20 mins and ready for our Texas vacation! When it was time to return the car I couldn't return it by the "return time" and called Alamo, they were so nice to let me return the car 30 mins. later. Which worked out better. When I went to pick up the car, Dave C (all he would give me for a name) was the counter clerk. He barely talked to me. I got an alert that my card was charged $70 more than my reservations showed and when I asked why he said because my reservation was for 6PM and it was currently 5:50 PM. So, I was told I had two choices to pay $70 or go back to the end of the line and wait. So, while I am waiting for him to finish, I get another alert showing an additional $400 charge to my card. When I asked again, he said you are local, so you might steal my $80,000 vehicle. I asked why I am considered a thief because I am local. He said, I am giving you my $80,000.00 vehicle so I am charging you this local fee. I asked politely why I was not told about this when I rented the car and he said, "How would I know I don't work for them". He said this with a straight face to an Alamo Insider who did book her rental thru Alamo website while sitting at a computer in front of an Alamo Sign. I had issues with the car the first night I picked it up and called customer service who was rude and told me there was nothing they could do because they closed in 15 minutes and hung up. When I was trying to return the car, I called 4 times and was told I needed to go to the Alamo rental counter. I explained over and over that I was not renting a car, I was returning a car and was told that it was done at the counter as well. So, I parked and went into the rental counter and low and behold Dave C was the only one working. I told him I was trying to return my rental, and he said, "Well I don't do that you need to go upstairs". I said I have called 4 times, and they are telling me I must go to the rental counter. He told me "How would I know why they told you that I don't work for them", I said that is the 2nd time you have told me you don't work for Alamo while standing in front of an Alamo banner sitting at an Alamo computer. He then told me "I don't work in customer service" to which I responded that was obvious. He then very rudely screamed "YOU ARE WELCOME, HAVE A NICE DAY THANK YOU FOR LETTING ME SERVE YOU", and walked off. Mind you this was not done in a customer service voice but a very When my nephew turned around and said "I beg your pardon" he screamed at him YOU'RE WELCOME! When I finally found the return and got upstairs, I pulled into a very long line, and I was waiting and making sure everything was out of the car a man came up and scanned the tag on the windshield and walked away. I stopped him and said do I need to sign something, and he said, 'I'll mail it to you' and walked away. The only pleasant person I dealt with throughout this process was the young gentleman who brought the car around when I picked it up. He was very polite and answered all my questions, he is a great asset to your company. I am only sorry I did not get his name. Overall, this was by far the worst experience I have had while renting a car and will not use Alamo again because of the rudeness of your staff, the car was fine other than the fact the entire navigation and electrical displays went down within 2 hours of me renting the car. Never again with Alamo -- they are scamming us! We rented a car in Phoenix in late September. Of course we were there during a 10-year monsoon that produced some hail. We could not see any damage though (hail was like pea sized so small). When we returned it they immediately asked about hail damage (should have clued in then that the scam was starting). He pointed out 3 teeny tiny dents on the roof that frankly I couldn't see. Big mistake not video taping him and the car. This was the smallest compact car available (a Mitsubishi). And of course we did not buy their insurance. They are now trying to stick us with over $2000 in repairs, including the quarter panels which did not have any dents. Mind you this car was not even cleaned when given too us -- they turned it around immediately -- we knew because there was a backpack in the back seat that the prior renter had accidentally left. And there was a huge scratch on the right side of the front bumper so obviously this car was not brand new or well-cared for. We're letting our insurance company go after them on this, but we will never, ever rent from Alamo again or from their parent/sister companies (Enterprise, National). THIS IS A TOTAL SCAM!!! They are trying to pocket that money -- no way they plan to repair that car. read more

Started out great! Amazing service obtaining the car in Nashville, Tennessee. Flight was delayed so decided to road trip to our destination instead. On our way back home our hit a nail in the road at 2 In the morning. Not a big deal just put the spare on and spent the night at a hotel. Got up went to discount tire to be told the tire was not repairable so no big deal already paid for the insurance coverage on the car. Called them and Ivan picked up and he said that Alamo doesn't work with discount and set up an appointment for us to pick up a car and said it would be a quick exchange. Went to the location to be told it would take two hours or we could go to a tire repair shop they work with to get the tire exchanged. Not very happy but not discouraged yet, decided before we go to the next destination to call up the same number and got ahold of Ivan again. He said he would help and see if he could expedite the process and then the line dropped either disconnected or hung up. No worries I called back and Julian answered the phone who should not be anywhere near a customer service line, Julian answered the phone introducing himself and I had told him I was working with Ivan is there anyway you could transfer me. Julian ignores me and asks "what is your name and date of birth" so I give him my name and date of birth to find my account and I ask him again to be transferred and ignores me again looking at the notes on my page and reading them out loud asking and then not going to be transferred I did curse out of frustration and then just stated that we had two options while Ivan had said he could help. Now out of frustration I ask for a manager which he states that I would have to call a number which was fine other than the tone although I could not imagine mine was any better. He had given me the number of a life alert ad 1(800) 634-6350. At this point I was utterly pissed off so I call the line again which a woman gives me the correct number I needed. Called the line and filed a complaint with a woman and she was beyond helpful. Got the tire fixed at the tire shop after an hour thirty because Alamo would not give the tire shop a call back to pay for the tire. But the shop was very helpful and accommodating. I wish that was all. Going through Dallas... there's traffic and idiot drivers... well... I almost get hit by one of these drivers swerving through the lanes... my horn on the vehicle doesn't work. Going to return the car... I almost get slammed into by a car that doesn't see me... I have no horn to alert the driver so I have to swerve out of the way. Which alright the drives almost over just let the people at the desk know. I go to drop off the vehicle and hopefully talk with a manager well the car drop off is in a different place than where I parked so I tell the lady at the front desk about the horn not working and she says just tell the guy upstairs when you drop it off. So I drive to the destination to drop off the car and when I get there I tell the man and he blatantly did not care. Just said "sorry" nothing I was unable to talk to a manager at all so now I will just never rent a car from Alamo again. Their customer service from more than half of the employees is just awful that I had experienced, the car was beautiful and ran but the horn not working made a huge safety hazard, and the employees just not caring was just mind boggling. read more

Then as we were traveling through we were not aware of all the toll fees and talking to another guest they told us that they should've offered us to purchase a toll pass so when I called to enquirer about this they told me they did not offer NO TOLL PASS!! But reading these reviews I see I was lied to we spent $100 in tolls you can't go anywhere without passing a toll and it being our first time out in Texas we had know idea how this worked. It's the day before Christmas Eve... This is how I came to do business with Alamo. 1. Avis gave us a pick up time for AFTER the facility closed. Then when we called customer service they tried to charge us MORE money to pick up at another location. Uhhh... what? No. 2. Hertz- We called customer service, booked a car, and confirmed the location had a car. We get there, and the agent tells us "We don't have a car. Our system doesn't have a way to see how many cars a location has." Really? Your computers must just be for show. You just offered the person in front of us 3 different car options.. sooo.... good talk. We booked online through Priceline, I called to confirm they had the car, and yep they actually did! My daughter rented a car from Alamo at Dallas Love Field over Mother's Day weekend, &, inadvertently, left her expensive EarPods in the car on returning it. She could tell their location (still in the car at the rental place), but went through proper channels filling out Lost-&-Found Reports through corporate. She asked me to go to the airport & see if they couldn't retrieve them the next day. My 73 year old mother rented a small SUV to see her grandson, the original price quoted was $386.17 which i thought was high, but when she got there they gave her a suv that was huge with a hemi engine!!!!! she couldnt reach the peddles, my brother had to drive it out. They told her that her insurance was 37.00 dollars but what they didn't say was that it was 37.00 a day, so for 5 day rental it jumped to $540.00. So my reservation was for 10:30pm and when I got there it was completely desolate. I stood around for about 10 minutes and asked the National next door if they knew where the staff went. They said they were the sister company and could fulfill my reservation. Look it's 11:30 at night and I shouldn't have to wander around looking for help. For starters, there were 6 employees behind the counter chitchatting and one customer waiting to be helped (me). It took well over a minute for someone to notice me standing there waiting to be helped. It doesn't seem like a long time, but after a long 8 hrs to get from home to your destination,the last thing you would want is to wait even longer. - Strike One. So once I got someone's attention, this young Hispanic gentleman helped me out, and he even joked with his coworkers about them talking and no one offering to help me out. I was in a hurry to get to where I needed to be that I signed where instructed and proceeded to the car lot to pick my car. As I review the contract, the guy took it upon himself to include the extra insurance, even though I had declined. I went back inside and was given attitude by 2 of their employees and the supervisor as well. And was told "Well you agreed, why would I add it if you had said no?!". I was told rudely told if I was going to decline coverage, they would need my insurance information. Which I do not carry with me while traveling. After spending some time looking for my insurance information, the guy took his time making the correction. Once he finished and gave me my receipt, I thanked the guy, to which he just walked away. -Strike 3 Never again will I do business with Alamo Car Rental. This is the location at DFW airport. Line was a bit long, which is not unusual at any car rental location on a Friday. The attention and personalized service was excellent! Tia helped us get checked in and made sure that we got the car that we needed. When we returned the car, Greg assisted us. He was truly one of the nicest young men that I have ever met. Greg made sure that we knew how to get to the shuttle, answered all questions about the bill, and even double checked the car to make sure that we didn't forget any items. We have been renting from Alamo for over 30 years. I picked up a pre-confirmed Insider reservation and was given a serious ration of rudeness from a blue-eyed black female with a Carribean accent but no name tag. This counter was not identified as an Alamo Insider point but there were four employees chatting there while eight customers were in line at the regular Alamo counter. What? I had just previously rented an SUV at OGG for three weeks from Thrifty and I was treated courteously. This clerk demanded multiple photo IDs, I had a photo ID on my temp Texas license that DPS told me was a "legal document" but this did not impress the Alamo employee. Fortunately, John was supervising and helped expedite my rental transaction. This was Not a good impression from this clerk and this is a great TRAINING Opportunity for management. read more

Convenient shuttle that takes you from the airport terminal to the rental car location where you can choose from a variety of rental companies. I originally had a reservation for a week. Then I changed it to one day. The guy on the phone couldn't bypass a company discount. I had to act as customer support for customer support and tell the guy to cancel my previous reservation and I can book a new one, or he can. I was scared that both of my reservations would show up when I got here. The guy that helped me here was really nice. He tried selling me random insurance that you should be aware of because you most likely won't need it if you have car insurance and pay with a major credit card. The guy here asked if I wanted some sort of insurance to protect against the incoming hail storm. Being my first time in Dallas, I had no idea they even had hail storms here? I declined that. You also have the option to do a prepaid gas option. It's probably cheaper to find a gas station elsewhere before you return your rental. Then you're given your papers. And you choose your car. This was weird to me because the labels of where the cars are located was not really clear to me. I was in for an "Intermediate" car, but there was nobody at the little Alamo station outside so I walked around the Alamo portion looking for what I could rent. Went back and asked someone who was there and she directed me to like two cars. Mind you, I don't think the area where the two cars were at were labeled "Intermediate" or whatever. read more

Had reserved a Suburban for a few days while on a business trip in Texas. Check out was okay, although the manager (Nathan/Ethan, I can't remember) had us go over to the National area to do the check-in and that was a little weird. Anyway, we get out to get our vehicle and we are met by the manager again who tells us there aren't any Suburbans, but does offer us a Ford unit that is similar. We take it and go on our way. We get about 2 miles from the airport and we are pulled over by Dallas's finest on the police force. He pulls us over to inform us that we didn't use a turn signal and appear to have a tail light out. We check by trying to turn on the turn signal and sure enough it is chattering like crazy (which is an indication that it is having a problem). Luckily, we get off with a warning, but we had a meeting to get to and had to phone in that we were going to be late. We returned to Alamo visibly upset and wait in line again. We get a gentleman named Hart at the counter. My boss explains that he is upset but Hart is calm throughout and instead of raising our voices (I was in contact with our clients while the exchange took place because we were running late) we are able to communicate what the issue was and that we were late and unhappy. Hart was kind enough to remove a day of rental fees for our trouble and sent us out to pick out any other vehicle of the same size on the lot. We go out and get an older woman and explain what the situation is. She doesn't seem to care. We indicate that we want a Suburban, but she says they don't have any. "What about that row of them right there?" my boss suggests as he sarcastically points to 4 of them next to each other. I am not sure how Nathan/Ethan missed that group of them, either. Reluctantly, the woman brings over the Suburban that we wanted in the first place. We did not have any issues with this vehicle. It was nicked up and dented and we took pictures, but they didn't do a walk around with us. They just dropped off the vehicles both times. Kind of weird, but maybe that's how they do things. If they had attributed any damages to us, I would have disputed it, but I don't know why they wouldn't do a walk around to check for damages before we left. Dropping the unit off was a snap on the way back. The gentleman outside who took over for us and got us into line and told us where to go were friendly and polite both times we brought a vehicle back. All in all, the experience could have been better. Service at the airport was hostile. Had a reservation for $576.00. The agent gave me a receipt for $628.00 and told me he couldn't adjust the price to reflect the reservation. When I turned the car in was charged $1,164.05, waited on hold for a representative for 1 hour and 21 minutes, no one ever picked up. read more
