I was visiting in Dallas Texas and wanted to rent a car from Dallas to Austin. I wanted to rent a car first thing Friday morning and drop off at Austin Texas. I called and they said I couldn't rent one day I was forced to rent for 3 days even when cars for available. I was going to be charged $350. I knew I was being taken advantage of. Being generous with the stars here. Car wasn't ready on time. Had to wait 2 hours and I had a reservation. Very limited area they will pick you up from. Agents get confused easily. Maybe having Avis in same business is a problem. Windshield is cracked. Scratched fenders. They should call it Rent a Wreck. Not sure if I can even say no worse than the competition. Called to make sure they were open on Saturday so I could do return. The voice mail jail does not have an option to return. IDK how I finally got a person online. Agent, who barely spoke English, told me they were open until 6. Got there at 2 and they were closed. This forced 2 more days on the rental. Had to call a friend come get me. This place is rip off. I called budget 800 number and they offered a discounted rate. But once I arrived at the counter, they couldn't offer that rate though the customer rep at 800 number promised its available through the rental location as well. The lady at the counter said they will try to give me a discounted rate, but at the end, when I dropped off the car, they charged me an additional $52 for the road side coverage which I clearly declined at the counter. The rep said thats the only way to get the discounted rate. Wtf! There is no discount if I am paying an extra $50 which I didn't authorize. They simply lie to you at the counter and rip you off at the end. Stay away from this place. Also they charge you $10 extension fee if you extend the dates after initial contract. Beware. read more

I went back to this same location 1 week later, after giving a stellar review! There was a young lady there who was willing to do absolutely NOTHING to help! When I got to the airport in DC, I had NO WALLET!! No credit card, no Drivers License, no cash...no nothing! I did however have my passport. This 1st lady wasn't willing to help at all. Even though I was just there a week before and spent over $1000 renting for the month. THEN STEPHANIE STEPPED IN! Once she realized who I was, she quickly took over. My frustration level was at 1000 as they already had no cars for the day before, which was my original reservation date!! She was able to use a picture of my ID and a Virtual Credit Card # (assigned only to Budget) via my banks phone app and worked every possible angle she could to get me the best deal possible. I will ONLY go to this location when I'm in Dallas and I will only work with Stephane!! She provides EXCELLENT customer service EVERY SINGLE TIME. read more

I booked a 26 foot moving truck on Budget's website and choosed the Richardson location base on a friend's past experience and recommendation. This is a well run, nice operation. I had my printed reservation along with Personal Financial Responsibility Certificate (sent to me by Budget) completed along with driver's license, credit card, and proof of insurance. This location said that I didn't "top off" the fuel tank. So they charged me a $35 fee and stated that it took them another $17 (which they charged me as well) to top the gas tank off. I filled up the Tank until it reached Full. They didn't take pictures to prove their claims and said I had no choice but to pay the fee. All of this from a $23 truck rental. I'm giving them 1 star for this bs. However I was refunded by billkng after sitting on the phone with customer service for $15 mins trying to dispute these charges. They even agreed that it was ridiculous. Also, I just want to add that they gave away my original 12 ft truck to someone else even though I booked way in advance. Remember: this location and most Avis policy only accepts credit cards for Rental. The online service display that they can use debit cards but actually will not. They will accept your reservation and state you just need to come in and pick up your rental by FAIL to acknowledge that you need a credit card and a debit card will not be accepted. This seems to be a common practice with Avis. I recommend check out Enterprise car rental as they will work using a debit card for your car rental. Please read all links for policies that inform you of this policy of credit card usage. Decided to go ahead to the location to rent a car for my vacation and when I got there the staff didn't seem very busy. BUDGET RENT A CAR with DFW (Dallas Fort Worth airport) Let me just say this..... Budget is a scam!!!! We (Me and 8 other girls) were given a confirmation of $437.00 for renting a van that we would pick up from DFW. Well, first of all, we waited almost an 1 1/2 hours to even get our "reserved van" and then we got something different then we reserved. At that point of being late for where we were going, we signed "our life away" (DO NOT EVER DO IT) and the fee at that point changed to $715.00???? The rental agent told us "WE HAD TO GET THE INSURANCE because NO ONES CAR INSURANCE covers a rental car" He got ALL OF OUR FLIGHT information and knew that we would be back about 3 hours before our flight to return the car. Well, we were that 4 hours before flight and were charged an additional day. SO our fee had now gone to $951.00. How can they tell us we can be there at that time and then charge us for another day????? We talked with a lad y in the airport that worked for Budget and she said we should call in and talk with someone. Well I did and they do nothing. They tell you that you should "read everything before you sign it". LESSON LEARNED.... they are scam-artist and are hoping that you wil not catch the extra's that they have thrown in. This is a warning to anyone who is thinking abut renting through Budget--- THINK TWICE!!! I have rented many-a-car in my day and never been treated like this. I will NEVER use Budget again and will warn everyone I know of there tactics. OH....... and the BEST PART IS.... They gave us a van that was dirty and old. It had bald tires and we had to get pushed out of dirt roads twice. These were just your typical dirt roads, but the tires were so bald that you couldn't drive on them. SORRY..... Twice I asked the young man about the service how much the upgrade would cost, I was told that 100 USD, in fact, my card was charged at 272 USD. I got additional insurance, which I did not want and which nobody told me about. In this health insurance, even though I already had one from Europe. It's not about money just about the rules. It is very rare when I actually log in and leave a one star review for a business but I feel that this time it was warranted. I Reserved a 24 foot truck on may 28th because we were moving on June 7th. I received a confirmation that the truck was reserved and ready to go. Two days before moving day I get another reminder letting me know that I have a 24 truck reserved. On June 6th I received a call around 6:00PM-7:00PM that they did not have a truck after all. They offered a 16 foot truck which was not close to being big enough to haul my things. I had hired movers and they were billing hourly so I did not want make multiple trips. I told the guy who I was talking to that I had received a notification that my truck was reserved and he told me that he was sorry but they had rented out my truck to someone else. He asked if I would be willing to pick up a truck somewhere else which was far away and I said that I would prefer they pick it up and have the truck there if they were going to get one from another location (I don't know why you would even make the customer go pick up a truck when you messed up). He said he didn't think they could do that and that I would have to call corporate in colorado I think. He said they would not be available until 10:00 the next day. I asked him if there was anyone that could help me with this because this was the night before moving day and the movers were going to be at my house the next day at 8:00am he said everyone was gone. I asked him if I could get two 16 foot trucks at the same price as the 24 foot truck and he said I would have to pay regular price. If you have ever moved you know how stressful moves can be and not having a moving truck when you are supposed to be out of your place on that day can really make for a bad experience. I ended up cancelling my order and went with U-Haul, I paid a bit more but they had trucks and they were super helpful and able to accommodate me at the last minute when I told them of my experience with budget. I have since then used U-Haul several times to pick up new furniture for my new house and will continue to use them because they are dependable. I never heard back from anyone from budget but I wasn't expecting much from them anyways after this incident. I am hoping that if you are reading this and are about to make a reservation with them make sure you have a back up plan because you certainly don't want to not have a truck when you really need it. read more
