    Nachos with chicken
    Lizz M.

This place has always had the best nachos! And in case you didn't know, they make their own nacho chips! This was my first time back since the new ownership and not much changed. Place was still packed per usual. The only thing I did notice was that they had less staff perhaps. It took a while to get refills on water if you were sitting at a table. I love that they have TVs that show games, old movies and so much more! They also have those cool garage doors which they open when it's nice out. They have booths in the back if you want something lower and more cushion. Honestly everything I've tried here is amazing. Their margaritas are my go to but every once in a while I'll opt for a beer. Many choices, all of them great!

    Tenderloin & fries

I read some good things about the tenderloin here. I finally got a chance to try it. It was really good, as were the fries. It looks like the top of the bun was burnt, but it didn't taste like it. I liked that the street side windows were open, since it was so nice out. My server, white male w/ gauged ears, was friendly enough but not very attentive. I'll probably give it another time, as this could've just been an exception.

We were wondering about this place, and were welcomed the moment we walked in the door. The staff was very attentive, the food was delicious, hot, and fresh. The tots were crispy. GET. THE. TOTCHOS. The seasoning on the fries is killer too! There is a good variety of seating options and plenty of TVs if you are looking to watch something while you are there. We will be back for sure!

Tacos, friends, tenderloins, beers, Giglis, and, board games!

Amazing duo menu of awesome Tex Mex as well as All American Favorites as well: tacos, burgers, burritos, tenderloins, chimichangas, fish and chips, 10 beers on tap, fill bar, tons of tvs with sports/movies/trivia, and, a great personable staff. Darts, Touch Tunes jukebox box, daily specials, $2 tacos in house after 9pm, and, board games galore. Great place, independently owned, and, some of the best food in Lafayette. PS- make sure to try their house made queso AND their own homemade hot sauce! (Dive Sauce) Cheers!

We were pleasantly surprised by this place. The bartender was awesome and interactive. What was really great was the food. My salad and soup were served and I was blown away.

We love The Dive! We eat there often for dinner and it's great! We finally ate there yesterday for Sunday brunch! Highly recommended! I ordered the Texican chicken and waffle dish and my husband had the B&G's with chorizo sausage gravy! Everything was amazing! Our server, Chris, was friendly and attentive! He also is the bartender and made a great Mimosa pitcher for us! We highly recommend The Dive anytime of the day!

I had the chorizo cheese dip and tenderloin sandwich with Blake's fruit jam off tap! Delicious the atmosphere gives you bar vibes very comfortable where you can unwind and relax. That ranch sauce is very dill pickley which I loved. The service was ok the bartenders are the waitresses so imagine it's difficult to provide A+ service if you have a good amount of tables and the bar to serve.

The food and service were absolutely awesome! Drinks were great. Glad we took the chance to come here!

Ask the Community - Sixth Street Dive

Can you take kids in here to eat?

No. Must be 21. We were really disappointed to find this out after we sat down. We did not see signs anywhere about this either.

Is this a good place to watch football?

Yeah, there are a few televisions. That said, I don't know that I'd go there for a super specific game, but they almost certainly have Colts and Boilermaker games on.

    What is the parking situation?

I believe they had a small lot on one side and then street parking - but it's been a minute.

This controversial mural is the work of The Droops, an Indianapolis-based artist collective who…read morewere commissioned by The Spot to do the piece in 2015. It located on the side of the Spot and overlooks their parking lot. It takes up 2 sections of the bar's side wall. The mural is in great shape but as you can see in the photos, its lower park is obstructed by parked vehicles. It is a collogue of random images that include a guillotine, a beer on a folding chair, a tombstone, a skull, a in a bikini with four eyes holding a beer up, a knife, a clown, a bomb, a trumpet, a cigarette butt, a foot, a face being punched by a fist, a hand holding a knife, and an odd character holding a beer while playing a piano. The mural also depicts a naked woman tied to a tree and male genitalia in between a hotdog bun, which caused quite a site as you can imagine. There were calls by the community to have the offensive piece removed, covered up or fenced off. The change.org petition ended with 20 supporters. At one point the Lafayette police issued a warning that artwork was violation of the city's graffiti ordinance. There was a point during all of this that they used a Mike Pence head (who was governor at the time) to cover the male genitalia. Ultimately, the Spot won and the city decided that the mural was not graffiti and did not meet the criteria for a citation. The mural is standing today. Even though there are a lot of images to digest. The artwork is very nice. This is a provocative piece that definitely generates conversation. You can deiced for yourself what your thoughts on the piece are. Parking to get a closer look at the mural is easy, even though it overlooks a parking lot, the lot is kind of tight. There is however, some free parking pretty close to the mural too. Anyway, as with most murals that I have visited and reviewed, this is not a long stop. I was there less than 5 minutes. So, you may want to consider planning out additional stops at many of the other attractions in the area, or making this stop part of a larger itinerary to maximize your time and trip. There of tons of murals to check out in the immediate area.

Let alone featuring gimlets on a special menu and presenting them as bright, shiny things? No one, except this awesome restaurant in Lafayette. Of course, I got the gimlet. I also got what some might call a "girl dinner," but what I call a "hot mom traveling alone dinner," which is fries and a Caesar salad. The fries were excellent: mostly crispy, but every so often a couple of mealy and soft fries were discovered, which was nice. The Caesar salad was good, and it came with whole croutons, which is typical. But really, The Black Sparrow? Your Caesar salad could have been elevated to excellent if the croutons were crushed into bread crumbs! Just saying! The Caesar had a lot of freshly grated parmesan cheese, which was a nice touch. A good Caesar salad needs a lotta parm, in my opinion. I just sat at the bar, so all I know is that rectangular space at the counter. Is there a restaurant beyond the bar at The Black Sparrow? I have no idea, but if you're looking to enjoy a little drink and a meal at the bar here, I think you'll have a good time.
