Great way to spend a beautiful Saturday with good drinks, good food and friendly service.

Came here on 11/18 in the late evening with my father, who has a service dog (vest, license, tag, the whole nine yards). As he was walking to a table, an employee (red shirt white dude) who was obviously intoxicated walked up from behind, put his arm around him, and asked why he needed a service dog. We informed him it was not legal to ask this question, asked him to maintain social distancing, and walked away to a table. About 3 minutes later, a blonde female employee (not visibly drunk) and a man claiming to be the manager who was incredibly drunk came up (again not social distancing) and asked again why my father needed a service dog. Again, we informed them it was illegal to ask. The manager said it can't be illegal because he likes dogs and would not stop asking. After some back and forth, including both employees attempting to pet and interact with my fathers service dog, they moved on. There was apparently a drag show trivia night, during which dancers were not social distancing and repeatedly danced up to our table dispute us asking her not to. After the third time, when the dancer approached the service dog, my father left the building and we stayed to pay our tab for the three beers we were unable to drink. A fight (verbal, but escalated because of alcohol) broke out between a table of 20 something drunk women who did not like service animals and a table of kind middle aged onlookers telling them to knock it off. We flagged down three employees, including the manager, and asked for our bill. The manager, who was so drunk he was not able to make eye contact, informed us he could not hear us and asked to follow us outside. Outside, he demanded to know why my father needed a service dog. We informed him it was illegal to ask and said we would like to pay our bill and leave. He again said that it was okay because he likes dogs, demanded to know what my father's disability is, all the while yelling and invading our (two women) personal space. We asked him to please back away and to calm down, and in reply he moved closer and again demanded to know my fathers disabilities. Feeling threatened and not being permitted to pay our tab despite pleading to, we walked away. Very disappointed in the staff and general attitudes. I love(d) this establishment and was a pre-Covid regular, but will no longer be returning. I recommend you do the same. read more

We checked this place out because of the high stars. One of the owners waited on us. Totally cool guy. Talked to us about the entire menu. Ordered some guac and chips to start. The chips are fried to order. Came out super hot. The guac was perfect blend of spiciness and flavor. Hubs got Knucklehead Burrito. He LOVED it. Said it was spicy with the Chorizo but also completely filling. I got the gringos tacos. One pork and one steak. Both were outstanding. The pork was not dried out and full of flavor. The steak had a good bite to it. The tacos came with rice and beans. Both delish! We will be back!! read more

Always love this place! The tacos are so good. Margaritas were tasty as well. Today I tried the fish taco and was really happy with it. Fish was fresh and crispy. It came with pico and a chipotle sauce. Carnitas are my favorite in town. Service is usually fast, but they can get very busy. If you haven't tried this place, do it! I had the taco dinner. Tacos and beans were OK, rice you could tell was a a less than stellar commercial mix. We weren't offered refills. I'll come back as I like to be a fair consumer and reviewer. I'll probably try a cheeseburger next time. The place was clean though. read more

If you are looking for good stick to your ribs pub food and beer I highly recommend this bar. It is 21 and up though, sorry no kids. I've been to this place 2 days for dinner now, and I've only been in town for 3 days. So far this is the best spot I've been for food and beer in West Layafette. The atmosphere is pretty divey, but its a fun texas divey that I am so familiar with from living in Austin so I maybe biased, but it smelled like delicious fried pub food the minute I walked in. It definitely has character but its not so divey that it will give you hesitations about not being a local. The beer selection was decent with several drafts, and more bottles and cans. They had zombie dust by 3 floyds and truth by rhinegeist so as a craft beer lover I was extremely happy. The friendly bartender recommended the pork tenderloin sandwich and it did not disappoint. It freaking huge and crispy. The onion rings are good too, I think they have some sort of spice mixture, I cant put my finger on it, maybe some cumin and paprika. At any rate they are very taste. The house hot sauce "dirty dive sauce" is really good, its spicy but flavorful, I practically drowned my sand which in it, I only wished they bottled it. One of the owners came and had a drink with me after talking about Texas for a bit and he was very nice. I went again on Tuesday for trivia night as well, and it was super packed, but the service didn't suffer at all. I could see the waitstaff and kitchen were a well oiled machine, just knocking it out. A stark comparison to Bru Burger which I had tried first and couldn't even handle half that volume. Trivia night was ton of fun hosted by geeks who drink, a mainstay of pub trivia. If you have one night in west lafayette I'd go here it doesn't disappoint. read more

This is honestly the best bar food I've had in Laffayette. The pork tenderloin sandwhich is to die for, and the catfish as well. The breading that is used on their fried foods has so much flavor, that it makes the incredibly large portion get finished regardless. Anything here is very delicious, and the price is just right (under 10 bucks a plate for food). Will definitly make 6th street dive a frequent stop from now on. read more

Their homemade chips are so fresh and delicious. My husband and I think that it's the best chips and queso ever! I liked the flavor of their mild salsa, and it was a little spicy. It was perfect for me because I like spicy, but it may be a little too spicy for some people. We really enjoyed our time there. read more

We were looking for a new local establishment to try and decided on Sixth Street Dive after seeing the large number of positive reviews. Both of us had the tenderloin with lettuce, tomato, pickle, and onion. I chose fries and she picked the onion rings. There was a full bar with a robust number of beers, ciders and seltzers available but being in a company vehicle, we stuck to the Coke products. Our food arrived and in true Hoosier fashion, the tenderloin was thin and twice the size of the bun. The onion rings appeared hand breaded and the fries were thin cut and crispy and maybe just a touch too salty for my taste. All of the food that was supposed to be hot was hot and the veggie toppings were cool. The service was very good as two attentive servers took our order, delivered food, refilled drinks and ensured we were pleased with our order. The ambient noise is a little loud and at times difficult to hear the person across the table however the level of noise was not uncomfortable. We will be back and next time, I won't bring the company car. read more

A great Tex-Mex restaurant close to downtown. We ordered the stuffed avocado, Texican version of tacos (more authentic than other places downtown for Mexican), queso and guacamole. All were excellent. A variety of beers and the margarita was made with fresh squeezed lines. We recommend ordering a double margarita to better balance the lime juice. The menu also had Hoosier foods e.g. Tenderloin and burgers. The menu had a variety of options but not so many things that you know a big freezer is in the back room. Adding review of brunch....Wonderful! All four of us ordered a different entree and were very pleased. Sweet potato hash is excellent. The "sandwich" using corn, jalapeños waffle was a wonderful mixture of sweet, spicy, and savory. Huevos rancheros were delicious. Sunny side egg was perfectly prepared. Margarita Mosa and Bloody Mary were well received. They open at 10:00 am on Sunday for brunch. read more

I fell upon this place through a yelp search myself. The pictures alone got me to come in. Walking in I was welcomed by two bartenders who worked as a team my entire time here. I came alone and sat at the bar for a quick bite and drink. They were friendly and helpful. I really wanted to try their Tex mex but I couldn't get past the catfish sandwich. I'm sorry what?? Yes please!! Also this place has tater tots!! Winner in my book! I am very impressed with this place and will be back when I come into town again!! read more

Long time Dive fan. Great Texican food and they can explain the difference between Mexican and Texican. So it's like dinner and an education. They had a tamale special the other day. If you like tamales give them a try. Really good but I've got so many favorites on the menu it's tough to work into my rotation. read more

This might be my new favorite bar in Lafayette. Our group of six had great service. Food was fantastic - they are certainly in the running for best Breaded Tenderloin in Greater Lafayette! I've previously had Texican pork tacos and loved them, as well. The menu is not enormous: a very good thing in my book! Added bonus: these guys actually care about their French Fries...thin but not too thin, nicely seasoned. Drink prices are more than fair, and they have $2 beers everyday. I had 3 Bud Lights and a Breaded Loin- my bill was $18 before tax and tip. It's hard to find a better combination of fair prices, great service and excellent food. I'll be back! read more

Great Dive feel. A decent selection of draft beers, mostly craft brews which is always a plus. Draft could be a bit colder. They had a good pineapple cider that we tried. We had the pork tenderloin sandwich with onion rings and the pork taco salad. Both were spot on a tasty. The onion rings were crisp and battered fried. The tenderloin was pounded in house and done, and still juicy. The pork on the taco salad was good with crispy edges! We also had the layered dip and chips, that were fresh made. I like this place a lot. The people here have been great and they serve one of the best breaded pork tenderloins in the state let alone the greater Lafayette area. It's a generous size with a good amount of seasoning (a little spice to it) and a pretty spot-on breading to meat ratio. Sometimes maybe a little too thin, but that's OK. I've heard good things about other items on their menu but I always end up getting the breaded tenderloin. read more

Found this one night with another couple. They have cleaned this place up greatly!! Have not played the MANY games along the wall but such a fun idea! Beer and shot specials everyday, drinks are fast, food hot and fresh. Local bands play here also which we have not attended yet. Their fries are amazing--seasoned and hot and so fresh! I've came just craving their fries but have not had anything we haven't enjoyed! Their nachos are layered perfectly and filled with so much goodness! Their fish and chips are some of the best I've eaten. Friends got their wings and raved about those as well! Def a go to and one of my new favorite found bars! read more

I didn't expect to find the best Mexican/Tex-Mex food in town at a dive bar, but it was a welcome surprise. This is a case of the alluring food photos being exactly what you will get in the place proper -- I went here with a group of friends last night, and everyone's meal came out looking picture-perfect and with a fresh taste to match. They've got a mix of American pub foods (chicken tenders, burger, pork rinds, etc.) and Tex-Mex options (nachos, quesadillas, tacos, burritos, enchiladas, and co.), and I opted for the "Texas taco dinner." It comprised two corn tortilla tacos filled with tender, shredded chicken, fresh onions, and vibrant cilantro, with some sides of properly warmed/cooked refried beans and rice (contrasted to many of the local Mexican restaurants, where they microwave it).The portions were a bit smaller than what I would have liked, but for certifiably freshly-prepared food, unlike the frozen/catered garbage you get from most of the food joints, especially when it comes to Mexican cuisine, in town, the price was fair. The price for the drafts/beers on tap is a little higher than other places, ($6 for other's $4-5), though I know at least some of those taps were craft and otherwise a bit posher stuff. Be warned, though: this place is VERY loud, at least on Friday nights through the weekend, so if you would like to have a conversation with your friends that you can actually hear while eating drinking, this place wouldn't be for you at those times. I hear that they also have live entertainment at times, though there was not any while we were there, so that might crank the decibels up even more. The one star was docked for the service being astronomically slow, even for a busy night -- that was by way of, as we could clearly see, our waitress standing around behind the bar half the time talking to other employees, not from her being busy serving others. It took all of my party a long time to get our checks, with one of us even having to go up to the bar and ask for it after waiting exceptionally long. Can't knock the food, though. read more

Stopped in for lunch while we were in town for a wedding and the food and service did not disappoint! Our server, Andrew, was awesome - totally professional and fun, and guided us through the menu and local beer choices. Our food was great - my husband had the breaded tenderloin and I had tacos and tots and both were fantastic. Recommend their house hot sauce on top of whatever you order. Unbelievable food. Just stopped on the way home from Spring Break as nothing else was open besides MacDiabetes. It was 4 miles off the freeway and completely worthwhile. Yes the pork sandwich is that big. Furthermore it was folded over. It's also very tasty. The Texican tacos are some of the best I've had ever. The hot sauce was quite hot however it was so tasty that I was compelled to eat it all. This place is a gem. Just wish I lived closer. Well done Courtney and crew. read more

Disappointing. Case in point: I am a salt-o-holic. I literally make a little pile of salt in which to drip french fries when I eat them. But holy moley, the fries came way too salty for me to eat. We tried the Sixth Street Dive and were really impressed by the food. The salsa has great flavor. They have several good vegetarian options. I loved the veggie nachos--they had great flavor and were very filling. Other members of our party had enchiladas, a taco salad, and the fried avocado and everyone enjoyed their food.
