Arrived at 650p and restaurant was 3/4 busy. We were greeted immediately and seated newr the kitchen for a party of 4. There are about 12 tables for parties of 2 or 4 but can easitly be pushed together for a larger party. There is no physical menu. You must scan the QR code on the table and order from your phone. Utensils and napkins were brought out as soon as we were seated. Minutes after we placed our order, water was brought out. Both the carafe of water and 4 cups were kept cold in the drink refrigerator. We ordered the following: 1. Spicy Garlic beef pepper rice: My 12yo liked the dish though there was alot of beef left at the end. 2. Garlic beef pepper rice: Hubby says it was bland and had to add the garlic sauce on the table to his plate. 3. Curry beef rice with cheese: I really enjoyed my plate but it was quite bland. I needed to add black pepper and salt along with the spicy seasoning to add flavor to it making it more savory. The curry seasoning has a good taste to it and was not overpowering. 4. Chicken katsu with curry sauce: Hubby says it was good. Chicken was tender and crispy. Curry sauce was flavorful. It's quite good that my 10yo asked to switch his plate, garlic beef pepper rice, with hubby. My 10yo really liked the sauce as there was 2 pieces of katsu left and he didn't want to eat it because there were no more sauce. 5. Chicken karaage: lightly seasoned with a light crisp, not too crispy likethe chicken katsu. The hicken was moist and the dipping sauce is like a spicy mayo sauce. Ive never seen food come out so fast. Within 5 minutes our 4 sizzling plates came out and once we started eating the chicken karaage came out. We ended up eating it along with our meal instead of an appetizer. The two staff working in the front were very efficient as I observed them to clean up the tables quickly, ring up customers and assists with the food delivery orders for DoorDash/UberEats/etc promptly. Although service and food was good, I am not sure if I will want to come back as the ventilation in the restaurant is poor. My friends and I stopped by for a quick and fast meal. Upon arrival, we seated immediately and ordered our food. I noticed that the store gets a bit humid especially with the hot pans and the store lacks a bit of air ventilation. My partner and I each ordered our separate dishes, we chose the Beef Udon and Garlic Beef Pepper Rice. The appetizer we also tried was Chicken Karaage. The dishes are a bit bland therefore you do have to season it to your liking with the sauce bottles and seasonings they have on the side. Both of our beef dishes came with butter, green onions and corn. If you want additional toppings, you're able to choose what you like and there will be an additional cost. Average: * The Beef Udon is decent. I enjoyed the udon. Since the skillet is hot, it cooks the meat really fast so if you don't want dry and over cooked meat, make sure you move it. In my case, I left it for a bit too long so the meat wasn't as soft and a bit chewy. * Garlic Beef Pepper Rice is decent as well. If you want something filling then this is it. The garlic does add some taste to it because without the sauces it is bland. * Chicken Karaage is decent. It's crispy on the outside and very juicy and tender on the inside. With the spicy mayo sauce, it pairs well. Final Verdict: Solid 4/5. It's simple and a quick meal, just meat with either rice or udon. There are a lot of dishes on the menu that you can try. I went with a simple dish so nothing stood out to me. I do want to come back and try something that is a staple and maybe be a bit more enjoyable. I was in the city for Fanime weekend and decided to eat here for dinner. I have been to the other Sizzling Lunch locations, so I knew what to expect going in. I know their spicy pepper garlic beef is one of their signature dishes, but I opted for teriyaki chicken, adding egg and kimchi. Sizzling Teriyaki Chicken: Overall, very delicious. I was scared of having the chicken coming to me raw, but they cook the chicken for you prior to sending it for you to do the rest of the cook with the rice and sauces. It comes in a piping hot stone plate with a cute paper bib (totally needed to keep it from getting messy - what a cool innovation). You mix up the food so it cooks properly and then mix it together as you like. You get little crispy bits of rice as well as other toppings of your choice. Go if you want to have fun with food. FOOD: The quality of the meat was better than expected and like I said a lot of fun to play with. The taste and flavorings were good, too. I did the classic Beef Pepper Rice which was delicious. I loved the crispy bits on top and the rice was good (if you've read my reviews before you know how often places just can't cook rice to save their lives). The garlic soy sauce was a nice addition but I liked topping it with teriyaki sauce better. Also ordered a side of gyoza which was terrific. My wife got the kimchee fried rice (also good) but the kimchee wasn't the best. It was still very good though overall. SERVICE: Quick and efficient and the plating was great. They didn't come by very often or really check in on us but when we flagged them down for help they were very responsive. COST: For what you get I felt it was well worth it. Wifey was feeling rice tonight for dinner, was in the area and it was getting late. Stopped in not knowing what we were in for but the menu online looked promising and the smell was amazing! Since then, I've been back twice because the food is delicious, fairly priced, and generous. I got the spicy garlic beef rice the first time and the curry beef udon this time around, both very good. The sizzling rice dishes give the rice a nice char so if you're a fan of crispy rice, you'll definitely love their rice plates. The udon was also really good and the noodles had a nice bounce to them. As a cheese lover, I added cheese to my udon and it perfectly covered my noodles after mixing, making the dish super hearty. Added bonus, they accidentally gave me an egg . Also, be sure to add a bunch of the garlic shoyu and a tad of the teriyaki sauce to your plates! This has been an unexpected surprise. After many years of ignoring these types of places thinking it's probably nothing special well I must admit I am simply wrong. That explains why they're always busy at lunch. They use quality thinly sliced beef placed on really hot plates. They come rare and when you mix them with the hot rice, plate and garlicky butter they become well done or medium well. If you ever eat Korean Bibimbap, this is the Japanese equivalent. For a little sweetness, add plenty of teriyaki sauce. For savory, add the garlic soyu but too much of it can get a little salty. The spicy miso isn't my favorite sauce so after a quick taste I skipped it. Be sure to do a Yelp check in to add egg to your meal ($1.75 value). Don't let the name fool you, Sizzling Lunch is an awesome dining option any time of day. I've been a regular here since I found out about it a few years ago and I won't be stopping any time soon. The food is delivered to the table raw and unmixed on a sizzling hot plate, allowing you to mix everything up and cook it to your desired level before chowing down. The real stars of the show in my opinion are the Garlic Shoyu and Teriyaki sauces that are available on every table. They form a delectable combination, and as soon as my meal arrives at the table I'm pouring a generous portion of each on top of my food so that the flavors can meld together as it cooks. It may be all in my head, but there is something great about digging into a dish of steaming food that was cooked just a few second ago. Forget farm-to-table, it's all about pan-to-mouth for that truly fresh experience. A final word of advice from personal experience, don't wear a white shirt! While they provide a small paper splash guard around the food, there will inevitably be some splatter that escapes the confines of the plate and winds up on everything within a one foot radius so be careful and plan ahead. read more

The one difference from the glass noodle version is that they give carrots and bean sprouts; while the rice and udon version only gives corn. Overall I enjoyed my meal and the food comes out really quick. You'll be in and out in like 20 minutes. As for the ambiance, it's a pretty loud and bustling restaurant full of steam from the food but you won't be sitting here for long. They also use a iPad now for all their tables to order food but you go up to cash register to pay. Only complaint is I ordered the beef udon when I sat down and the waiter then came out to tell me they ran out. I would have definitely appreciated a heads up before ordering. Recently stopped by for a solo lunch. Decided on the beef and opted to replace the rice/udon with all veggies, a nice option. My beef meal came quickly with edamame, carrots, corn, mung sprouts, mushrooms and perhaps more that I can't recall. As others have said, the dish was bland prior to adding tables sauces, which I rather prefer. This way you can play aroud with how you like it. I tried the teriyaki and garlic shoyu, which were both good, so I went half on each side for variety. Yay! By the end, they were mixed together and that was tasty too!
