I love a good pasta, and it was date night, so of course I had to choose where to go. This was our first time, and definitely not our last. I ordered the Shrimp Fettuccine Alfredo. I love the creaminess of the Alfredo sauce. The shrimp is perfectly cooked, maybe just a tad undercooked. However, it tastes amazing. I was definitely craving some more. My boyfriend got the baked rigatoni. We were blown away. We loved how cheesy it was. We enjoy a good cheese pull, and the meat was cooked perfectly. Just one downside, though: both plates were small portions. We were craving more. We didn't get pizza, but the pizza options definitely caught my eye, and I need to come back. Such a great experience here! Everything we ordered was delicious and came out fresh. The pizza was perfectly cheesy with a great crust, the penne pasta had a really flavorful sauce, and the mozzarella sticks were crispy and so good with the marinara. The cheesy bread was also a favorite! So warm, cheesy, and perfect for sharing. I really appreciated is that their dough is fully vegetarian with no egg added, which is a huge plus and not something you see everywhere. But What really made the visit special though was the owner. He was incredibly sweet, welcoming, and made the whole experience feel personal. You can tell they genuinely care about their customers and the quality of the food they serve. My husband and I were craving pasta but didn't want to go to a really fancy and expensive restaurant so we made our way here and it's such a hidden gem! Food: 10/10 I was craving a tomato sauce pasta instead of the meat sauce so penne pomodoro was perfect for me and the pasta was cooked al dente. My husband got the baked rigatoni and it was loaded with cheese, pepperoni, and Italian sausage. He enjoyed his meal and got really full. We also got garlic sticks and it was so fragrant and good paired with the marinara sauce and the crust was really crispy. Each table comes with red pepper, Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper. The prices here are insanely affordable! It was a little over $30 for 2 entrees and one appetizer and that's for dinner price. Ambience: 10/10 Lots of seating options. It's very cute and cozy inside. I see a lot of people getting take out but I encourage more people to dine in. They play nice romantic Italian instrumentals inside and there's 3 or so TV's in there to watch sports too. Highly recommend for a date or to dine with family or friends. Each dish consistently tasty every time. Very clean cute environment. Their drinking water is filtered and crystal clear, even the ice. Owner and staff are so accommodating, sweet and easy going. They can whip up modifications easily to any order. Ask about their off menu items, I'm sure they'll get them on a menu eventually. Some of our favorites are Chicken Milano (off menu item with sun-dried tomatoes and mushrooms), pesto bread, arugula salad, chicken marsala, chicken Alfredo. Plenty of parking in the designated spots directly in front of restaurant. Dine in or call for take-out (they do a lot of take-out for busy working people) - They're pretty perfect as is, the only thing I'd love to see them implement is some soft relaxing music for ambience. read more

Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo: 8.5/10 Tastes like how a Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo pasta should taste like! Unlike other restaurants, this spot gave a lot of chicken and Alfredo sauce. When I got it to go, I took a photo of the pasta before mixing so it looked a bit dry. However, after mixing it, I realize there was a lot of Alfredo sauce at the bottom. Chicken Milano: 10/10 Can I say... wow?!? I tried my boyfriend's Chicken Milano and instantly loved the pasta! The creaminess of the pasta sauce with the chicken, garlic, mushrooms, and sun dried tomatoes are a perfect blend. Service was super welcoming and friendly. Home run with this restaurant! This is a family owned restaurant who makes their own dough for pizza and calzones. Phenomenal. The pastas are delicious as well. Casual Italian restaurant with fair pricing, good food, and very good service is what we experienced on this first visit. I ordered a calzone and was happy to know they made them fresh to order so I was able to modify (there were artichoke hearts in menu ingredients which I don't like); my experience at other restaurants has been that they are stuffed ahead of time so no changes can be made. The calzone was also bigger than expected so, with the bread appetizer, I could only eat about half. The cheese bread appetizer was good. As for the wine list - it was short, simple, and basic; I had a house Chianti which was pleasant, but it would be nice to see a decent Nebbiolo on the list. They also offer a family brownie desert which we took to go and enjoyed later. We thought the service was very good and it is a place we will go back to. One thing I noted, and that I liked seeing, was that they were thorough about cleaning the tables between guests. The sauces are mild. . My spaghetti with meat sauce was delicious. My son's eggplant parmigiana was out-of-this-world delicious. However the meatballs served to my husband were cold. I do not like sausage meatballs, so I will not deduct for that. The garlic bread knots are garlicky and a nice a compliment to our meals. The wines servings were small for the prices. Of the two desserts, I liked the tiramisu best compared to the cannolis. Portions were large and economical for the prices charged. A waiter cleaned one of the tables and dried it with used napkins. Came in at about 1:45pm on a Friday. The owner was outside on the phone. The stars are for George helping me open the door. Lunch specials are salads and sandwiches only. They only offer penne for 80% of their pasta meals. The only white sauce is Alfredo. Someone came in and was denied the lunch menu at 2:07pm. Lunch is until 2pm. It was worse that he came in BEFORE 2pm and took the 7 minutes to read the menu. I ordered the penne bolognese, but with fettuccine noodles. Nothing was authentic about the food. Beyond bland. I think a good Italian restaurant has been the hardest thing to find since moving to San Jose in 2016. The ones with nice ambiance and good food are too expensive (A Bellagio, 360) and the wife never wants to return to the affordable ones (Annie's, Luigi's). The one exception (which I won't name) is tiny, always has a wait, and closes early, which is why we threw the net out last night. By the way, there are also expensive ones with bad food, but I won't name it because I don't want to get any more unprofessional messages from Vin Santo. The ambiance is welcoming and casual, maybe too casual for me, but I'm used to the dark holes-in-the-wall that southern Californians can expect. I would prefer something less bright, but the takeout counter has backlit big screens and the walls have televisions playing sports-ball games. The owner is walking around talking to the many locals and regulars, sometimes talking at length in his pride of his water filtration system. To be honest, I thought for a moment I was being sold a water filter at a time share, but to friendly and knowledgeable owner George's credit, his excellent Diet Coke was crisp and his sample of coffee was smooth. I am no hydrology expert, but the water is like the tears of angels. The service was excellent before I move to food. I liked the menu options. Taking advantage of the bar-foodish appetizer selection, we got potato skins. I think it should be 6 (not 5) for $9 so it's easier for 2 or 3 to share. I liked them, but the wife found her pieces (sans bacon) to be bland. The wife got a garlic lover's pizza, with fresh spinach and tomato, and cheese from... well, I forget what George said... it was something like the cheese was from purebred, valedictorian, blue-eyed, virgin cows from Wisconsin with no cavities who attend night school with inherit and insatiable curiosity. We both thought it was fresh, but fine. I got the combo calzone, which was full of meat. It had little sauce, so I asked for some marinara on the side to dip the yummy dough pieces after pillaging the contents. I managed to save half for breakfast the next day. The marinara was delicious, and this is coming from a guy with a 100% Italian grandmother. George told me they make all the sauces, the ranch, etc. from scratch, and, I can't be sure, but these tomatoes were hormone-free and grown in oil-based kaolin clay pots and gently massaged daily by nuns with their leafs trimmed by hairstylist Chris McMillen, who created "the Rachel". If you want a super casual, welcoming place, full of locals and regulars, with great service and fresh food, letsa go. read more

I love this place so much! I'm so happy to have found a place that has amazing customer service and delicious authentic Italian food. I've been here twice and both times have been amazing, the first time I've been here I ordered spaghetti with shrimp and let me tell you, I've been dreaming about the sauce ever since. They definitely don't skimp out on the shrimp either. We also got an order of their cheese bread which was delicious too. The second time I came, we got George as our server and I'm assuming he's the owner. He was such a gem, so sweet. He accommodated my sister and let her get the pasta that she wanted but with chicken instead of sausage and she said it was delicious.
