I first went to Sj cigars to purchase my second hookah,i settled on a mya econogon witha green base. the man behind the counter was less than helpful. and at an advertised 80% discount the hookah was still 20$ more expensive than ordering from hookah-shisha.com (with shipping). there hookah selection is mismatched, (they didnt carry mya parts even though they had many mya hookahs). after several months my mya broke,and i had to buy a new one at retail. i paid over 70$ more fore a 30$ hookah. if you value money and dont feel like being judged for owning/buying a hookah don't go here.if you need something in a pinch or you cant ship to your house this is an okay alternative but is by no means ideal. it will be a very long time before i come back to this store. i bought a cigar from them and it seemed like it was priced fairly. read more

I went into this store on the way to school to look at their Zippo lighters. I found one I liked, purchased it, and went on my way. I got home and went to open it up to fill it and the hinge was bent leaving the lid sitting on a slant. I looked at the receipt and it said that returns within 7 days would be accepted with vaild receipt, but only for store credit. I thought oh well I will just get another one. Today, 2 days after the original purchase, I went in and showed them my issue with both the Zippo and receipt, plus the original boxes and stickers. The clerk said he had to call his boss. 10 minutes later he comes out with a sticky note with Zippo's return address saying I have to take it up with them. He said his boss would not return the zippo, even though I didn't want cash or store credit, just another one to replace it. I argued with him showing him the stores return policy, and asked how they could accept tobacco products for returns and not a obvious defected product, and he said it was basically my issue, not theirs. This store is horrible with customer service, so beware when buying products from S.J. Cigar!!! They will not honor the contract on their receipts! read more

Today I stopped by SJ Cigars on South 3d Street just off of South Street (obligatory I do not have any affiliation with this shop). They have a great cigar selection with a massive walk in humidor. For pipes they have a number of medium range pipes in a glass cabinet (I saw a few Stanwells that were particularly nice looking). I did not see any tinned pipe tobacco but they had a wall full of bulk options for a good price: 2oz for $5.50. I picked up some Old Havana and some English Breakfast to try out and got to smoke a bowl in their smoking room complete with new leather chairs and flat screen. They offer coffee and Sodas in a refrigerator as well. Most pleasantly of all though were the friendly staff. Even though I do not believe either were particularly experienced with pipes they knew enough about the different blends to pass the time while I browsed. They also mentioned that they have seen an heightened interest in pipes and pipe tobacco so hopefully they will continue to expand their selections. Right now this is definitely a cigar-forward B&M the atmosphere and staff make this a must visit; I will definitely be going back. read more

The factory store located at 231 Rock Hill Road Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004. The employee Bill I spoke with was good about answering my questions, but not good in retuning calls when said he would. I purchased a bundle of Crown David Orange Robusto with a shipping cost of $10.00!! I thought was too high where Cigar Int & Thompson never charge that much. But they don't carry that brand. Once I received my package & opened the bundle to my surprise the cigars where split, unwrapping & dried as can be. Which would tell me they where not stored at the proper relative humidity. As per Bill they keep all there cigars stored in a humidor!! I called & advised Bill the problem & he tells me I need to talk to the owner & see what we can do & would need to call me back, well no surprise no call back. So I called him back & said whats the deal, he says I haven't spoke to the owner really after 2hrs you couldn't get a hold of him? he tells me, I don't no what store he's at I said well doesn't he have a cell phone? Yes but I can't give it to you, I said put me on hold & call him so he did wow!! The answer was the bundles are sold as is? Really it didn't say that on your site & you never told me either. He said he has never had to deal with a return? Ummm yea ok!! So after me saying it's your quality control issue on your end that you need to pay for the return shipping not me. So he put me on hold again & the owner tells him that I would need to pay for the freight. Ok so since I received unmaintained cigars it's my fault & have to pay for freight? He argued that the cost of the bundles & freight would not be worth it to them?? Ok, I see it's all about the company & not customer service. So I scrapped what was crap & trying to bring back dried cigars back to life. Bottom line don't buy from SJ unless you want bad cigars & bad customer service!!
