Very nice in person, Takes measurements and discusses. This was a Friday, so I understand we might not get the estimate soon. I'm told, if not this weekend, I'll get it to you by Monday eod. No worries, that's reasonable. Heck, it can be any day, just do what you promise. Monday nothing. Tuesday nothing. Call Wednesday. Says I'm really busy, No apology until I call them out on what they promised. I didn't set the expectation, they did. I tell them, if we don't even have a contract and you're being like this, what am I to expect? Next day, I get a text about the room to be done, is it upstairs or downstairs, and the bathroom, is it being done? I'm totally confused, we never spoke about a bathroom and the room is upstairs. I get the quote finally. It's ~$30k more than another quote I got from a 5 star Yelp business. WTH. Looking deeper into the quote, it's talking about terracota tile and grout...we never spoke about that, we spoke what I already have downstairs, which is laminate. They even stated, that's a manufactured piece we can't get anymore but we can get something close to match. Don't always believe Yelp reviews, but I'd believe this one.

But when we needed to change out an old bathroom vanity for a new one, we knew we had to get serious about it. And if you hire a plumber to do the work, which DOES involve some plumbing, then it costs way more. I resigned myself to the search and literally just contacted the most popular handyman service in my town based on Yelp reviews. Guess what? thank goodness I did! 805's Handyman (NOT to be confused with "805 Handyman") responded right away--even though it was a Sunday and the World Cup games were on. I uploaded pics, sent in the details, got an estimate, and made an appointment. On the day of, a nice truck drove up with the logo painted proudly on the side (not a guy in a fancy sports car, like handyman #9). Two sturdy guys came in and got down to business right away--no fuss, all smiles, and dare I say it? Like they loved what they do. (Unlike handyman #7 who was a former engineer and complained the whole time, even refusing to do some tasks!) Long story shorter, the bathroom vanity switcheroo turned out to be bigger and messier project than expected. It ended up involving some retiling, grouting, electrical adjustments, alterations to trim, painting--and the plumbing bits and installation and removal. The workers were quiet, helpful, communicated the whole time and were just generally old-school excellent (unlike handyman #4, who was nice, but got everything crooked and a bit wonky, bless his heart). The 805's Handyman workers did ALL the plumbing/installing/electrical/tile work/painting--the whole shebang. And the end result is a sweet transformation for our upstairs bath (I also asked them to take care of a few more items on my to-do list, which they did quickly and again, with smiles). The whole thing was very gratifying. So much so, that the next time something in our house needs fixing, I will actually look forward to hiring 805's Handyman again. We're lucky to have them in the Ventura area and they are popular on Yelp for very good reasons.

They worked around my schedule which was appreciated and followed through without issue. I had them work on an outdoor electrical/lighting fixtures and Patrick did it with ease. He came with all his supplies and was prepared, he swapped out my old, ugly lighting fixtures and put in the new ones no issue. He was careful but prompt with getting this task complete. Very nice guy and someone you could trust and who did a honest thorough job. Aside from doing great work and being professional, the price point was also very reasonable compared to ten other quotes I got (yes, I do my research). They are affordable, professional and most importantly they did a great job. Even my neighbors watching from the outside were impressed and came over to take some business cards. I know I'll be locking them in for some more appointments and repairs in the near future. Great work and happy to have a trustworthy handyman in the area.

Parry sent over his crew right away to caulk around the existing one so we wouldn't get any incursion while waiting for the new one to arrive and get installed. Nice! For this job, I had also asked to have a custom window casing and deep windowsill built. We agreed that I'd buy the materials (a particular trim profile and hardwood species), prime them, and they'd do the cutting and installation. This collaboration worked perfectly.

Second, it was a green door, meaning, it was not totally cured and oozed out sap for 4 months. 6 months later, the door cracked. After several months, they agreed to a new door. When it came, it was not measured correctly so I had to wait another 6 months for the next door. so now the door is installed, I had to pay again to get it repainted. Guess what, 6 months later, that new door cracked. They will not replace the door so I have to live with a cracked door since they told me it is past warranty. their solution...pay another $1500 to install a fiberglass door as a replacement. I would not even give this company 1 star if I could.

I called SJS Plumbing Maintenance to get a quote on a water heater installation since the one at home gave out and Sean, the owner, answered immediately and gave me options. I told him about my financial situation and he was able to work with me on it. I decided to go with Sean and not with any other plumbing company. He fit me into his schedule and showed up the next day. Sean got to work as soon as he showed up. He was also kind enough to show me what he was doing and explaining it as he went along. Sean was quick at installing the water heater and made sure there were no leaks. Sean is a professional and communicates well with his clients. He is very knowledgeable about water heater installation and other plumbing questions that you may have. He is also fair, honest, and reasonable and isn't shady like others out there. I needed a plumber right away to fix my toilet as I had broken the tank. Well, U know how life can be REALLY uncomfortable without a working toilet. I called Sean at SJS Plumbing. He came right over, gave me an estimate & told he could come back tomorrow to get everything done. And WOW, did he ever. He did an absolutely BEAUTIFUL JOB!!! Ok, so major trauma... Gas Co. came by to tell me our meter was leaking, on our side of course and they shut us down. Frantic search for plumbers who could come out almost immediately at a fair price. Got in touch with SJS, Sean said to send him pictures, which I did, and he gave me an estimate over the phone. He was able to come within a day and a half and took care of the whole thing, digging up the yard all new connections new cut off valve, everything we needed, replacing the sod, and not having to dig up the walkway or the sidewalk. After he heard about my situation, he referred me to a Leak Detection service provider as locating the source of the leak could have been an issue under my driveway. After the Leak Detection service gave me the good news that it could likely be fixed at the meter, Robert came later in the afternoon, looked at it, gave me a quote on the spot and fixed it within an hour+. As I had to leave for an appointment, he called when done, sent pictures via text, and explained the fix. The only surprise was that he me called the next day to check in to ensure all was still OK, and no further issue/leaks. Who does that? Robert of Summers Plumbing! I've used other local "big name" plumbers who wandered in and wandered around looking how they could upsell other services to me and pad the bill. Robert did the job he was asked to look at, without any additional upsell or mumbo jumbo. Get 'er done kind of guy! Thanks again Robert.

Saul is awesome! I called him to replace two valves (hot and…read morecold water) for my washing machine. He had done work for me in the past and even remembered me, which was a nice touch. Saul came over the very next morning, and our appointment was scheduled for 8:00 AM. I arrived around 8:05, and he was already there getting to work! While he was working, I stepped away for less than 10 minutes, and he came to let me know he was already finished. I was shocked at how quickly and efficiently he worked. Not only did he replace the valves perfectly, but I also noticed that he had moved my old washing machine out of the way to make room for the new one I had nearby. That wasn't part of the job--he just did it to help me out. The quality of Saul's work was excellent, and I was able to move the new washer into place with minimal effort. He's professional, explains everything clearly, and his fee was very reasonable. I'll definitely continue to call Saul for all my plumbing needs. Highly recommended!
