Glow in the dark mini golf course.
    Trevor H.

I took my wife here on a mini date and we had a blast. This place is located at the Norfolk Premium outlets and was pretty easy to find. I found a great deal on Groupon, $15.20 for two people and had no problems using it. Everything glows up nicely, the course is clearly marked, and it wasn't too difficult to navigate through the course. The staff was nice and it took us about an hour to get through the course. TIP: if you have contacts wear those instead of glasses. It's very difficult to wear the 3-D goggles over glasses. My wife and I both have glasses so we didn't get to experience the 3-D effects as much as non-glasses wearing folk. Overall this was a fun date night that was really worth the value especially if you use a Groupon!

My sons and I arrived here around 1:20pm on a Saturday afternoon to do an activity while visiting from NC. I found them on Groupon, where they had a good deal. This is located in Norfolk Premium Outlets. The cashier (Emily) was VERY friendly and helpful! She has an amazing personality and engaged well with my boys. She even took pictures for us after we finished. They have glow sticks and necklaces for sale. One of my sons got one. We were given putters and a score card. We each picked out a ball from the bucket. We were offered 3D glasses that we took, but ended up not wearing throughout. The whole place is a Candy land theme, which was nice and fun. There was a scavenger hunt at the bottom of the score card. The playing area was a little small and the holes were fairly close together. They so clearly label the areas with incline and where/when you need to step, which is great. We stayed about an hour. I would say 30-60 minutes would be average but it would depend on the parties ahead of you. At the end, there is a mini arcade area and an area to host a birthday party. Overall, great experience. I would return! We enjoyed ourselves!

Good, clean fun on a sweltering hot evening. It was a nice way to spend quality time with my husband. It offers shelter from the heat, or inclement weather. On this day it was particularly hot outside. The inside climate was comfortably cold, but not freezing. Check in at the desk, pay with either cash or card (but call ahead to confirm), they do offer military discounts with proof of ID. You then receive your putter, pick your ball and staff will inquire whether you want to keep score and whether you would like to wear 3D glasses (included but needs to be returned), just be sure to return them upon completing your 18 holes or you will be charged. Equipment & 3D glasses were immediately sanitized by staff after use which is always reassuring. Hand sanitizer was available for use upon exiting, which we used. It was just two of us and it took us roughly 35 minutes to complete the 18 holes. It's also contingent upon how many groups are ahead of you and how large the groups are to determine how quickly your game will run and of course your par. The course contains numerous drops in elevation, but fortunately provides signage where this occurs. However, in abundance of caution, I did still check other areas by placing the putter on the surface in front of me prior to stepping. The candy images are raised, they are the obstacles/banks so make sure to walk around them. The course is fun and entertaining but by no means extremely challenging. It was a great activity for a game of friendly competition and for rooting/ providing words of encouragement when the other player was on deck. If you're interested in throwing your child's birthday party here or whether you're an adult that wants to throw a party or event for yourself they offer party packages. There is a separate designated party area with chairs and tables, balloons and cutlery and the packages include game play up to a certain number, but options to add more participants are available for a charge. See pics for info or check out their website. Hours of operation are noon to 7pm, however customers will be allowed on the course at the latest 6:30pm before closing.

I thought they could have done a little maintenance since it was closed down during the Covid-19 pandemic The person checking us in was not real friendly at all. It seemed like we were bothering her. Easy to check in. You pay. You get a coin. You go over to the ball machines. Put your coin in and you get whatever ball color you want. The staff gives you the clubs. The courses are pretty interesting. That part is great. Difficulty was pretty cool. Medium level. The courses were a bit dirty. Bits of debris could have been blown off with a leaf blower. The carpet on one course had a root stopping the ball from going through the hole. One course we lost our ball in the woods into a river (Hole 5) they should have a net to prevent this. So long story short. If they hired a new staff instead of that girl. Cleaned their courses. And did a little maintenance I will give it a 4 star. They had 36 holes but the girl said we could not do all of them at that time it was not available. I think we should have gotten a coupon for a return because we wanted to do all 36 holes. Prices for 36 was great but not for the 18 holes.

One thing missing is an information desk. And if they had one, I never saw it…read more I only did the bowling activity which was fun; there are so many lanes and a VIP room with additional lanes. The cost was per lane vs per person and you pay at the counter in the bowling area. If you're in the military/a vet let them know as you get a DISCOUNT. Not only that, but shoe rental and sock are free, (normally around $3.50 each). Since I didn't go in with intentions to bowl I didn't bring any, but was able to get a free pair since my cousins benefit applied to everyone in the party. The socks are actually cute (to me). It was very busy on a Friday evening and the crowd seemed to be teens and adults. Very few small kids. The servers come to the lanes to take orders, and the tablet at the bowling lane has a button to press for their help. Since it was taking long, we just ordered drinks from the bar nearby. The food, ordered later was simple, but good. -Sunset strawberry sangria is good, but could use more strawberry flavor. - Mozzarella sticks are no different then what you'd get at the grocery store and for the price the amount given isn't enough. - Wings, got a double order, 1/2 sweet chili, 1/2 garlic parmesan. I've often seen the latter on menus and steered clear because it didn't sound appealing. However, since it was ordered (for the group) I figured I'd give it a try. It was Soooooo good that I before I left I placed a to go order. Servers and staff were overall kind, but very busy. Lots of running and trying to take care of everyone. There weren't many smiles, but I imagine they were focused on the task at hand. Anyway, be kind and be patient. If you're staying at a nearby hotel let them know your going to Apex. I did (as I inquired about directions) and was given afree pass for laser tag, which I gave away.

I am basing my review on the activities that me and my daughter experienced. There is lots of parking at the event and it is free.. which is great to see.... Walking in, we were shocked at how expensive everything was. You are literally spending $50+ per hour per person. We did the mini golf. The course was very small. 18 holes in the dark with glow in the dark balls. It started out great but when we reached around hole 6 a group of 12-15 teenagers came in and started speed running through the course.. they were hitting their balls all over the place. My daughter and I had to step aside for and let them speed their way through. After that there were a couple of older kids that were hitting their balls very hard and they were flying off the course.. one of those balls almost hit my daughter in the head.. they really need some supervision in the mini golf room. Otherwise somebody is going g to get seriously injured... Next we want to the arcade section. My daughter loved the VR experience items. But at $5+ dollars for 5 mins.... It adds up really fast. They have a little store where you can get prizes in exchange for tickets. But the big problem is that there are very few machines that actually give you tickets when you play them. There were a couple of claw machines that gave you a chance to win 100'or so tickets. But when you need thousands of tickets to buy anything.. you are literally spending a lot of money. Most of the machines were claw based machines where you could win a prize or the coin push machines which are hard to win anything out of. Overall, I was not a big fan of Apex. It is very expensive for what you get.. you can easily spend over $100 per hour in this place to try all the different things. Unless you have a big promo or coupon that gives you a huge discount.... It is not worth the money. The other big issue is that there is very little supervision of all the kids running around. Most of the staff look like they are high school students working a summer job. Like I mentioned earlier, my daughter almost getting hit in the head with a golf ball is unacceptable!!! Highly don't recommend coming here unless you can get a huge discount.

It's best to set your expectation properly when going here. Don't expect to be woo'd in amazement about how intricate or crazy the courses are.
