The rooms have great puzzles and they're cohesive! The game masters are friendly and (not overly) cheery! A lot of the local escape rooms haven't changed up their rooms so I was over joyed when we did the Elf B. I. room and realized we hadn't done their Fryte Family room when we left the recent visit prior. The props have significantly improved as well as their puzzles. Whoever decorates their lobby does an excellent job and I love how their room posters are advertised like movies! It feels very cozy yet it's spacious in there! While they do give unlimited hints, we tend to be on the stubborn side and like to wait until we just absolutely can't figure it out. Haha.. Such a fun experience!! I love how the lobby area has little puzzles and a game area to have something to do while you wait for them to get your room ready. The layout and decorations look great and really get you in the mood. We did one of their scary rooms (since it was near Halloween). My daughter was jumping and screaming the entire time! The game master was really helpful when we were in a bind but didn't spoil the fun. At one point the music/sounds stopped but it didn't bother us. This one just happens to be a few blocks away on Bonney and we honestly didn't realize the escape rooms were in that building (we thought it was their headquarters or something). The 3 of us did the High Noon Saloon and finished with 7 minutes left with a little help. Anaka was fantastic at getting us set up with the rules, the background of the game, and then with a few requested hints throughout the game (and even clued us in on the fact that we had something right but just didn't operate the lock correctly). The room that we picked was the King Neptune's Trident. It was a huge room, where we need to find the Trident. The room was hard compared to the other rooms that we went to. Every time we come home to visit, we try to get into an escape room. We made our fourth visit here, and this time we did the Witch's Lair. The first thing we noticed, is that it was the same room we did but with a different theme. We knew what to expect because the room was set up the same. This room seemed to have a ton of locks to get new clues which slightly loss the desire to keep moving. We did have to ask for a couple clues, but they also put extra clues on the tv that we didn't ask for, which was a bit disappointing. The room was well kept, instructions were placed on the back of the door if you needed help with how the locks work, and the staff was very helpful and friendly. Besides knowing what to expect despite a different theme, it was a good bonding experience for my family. We escaped with 3 minutes to spare. I'd say it was challenging, but if you want a really challenging one, we'd suggest High Noon Saloon. read more

In 2015, this was me and my wife's first ever EsRm adventure when we beat "Traveling Crook," a 5 star difficulty rated double room, with the help of 3 other couples. Our recent return with our kids to do "Detention Hall" (3 star difficulty) was a blast at a HIGH VALUE rate. PRO TIP: check Groupon and their website, plus sign up for their email promos. Wife and I tried to get every family member involved; we even had the last clue licked but entered the code incorrectly just as time expired. #WompWomp. Still, without sharing spoilers, the scenario creativity, tech and innovation were light years beyond other competitors' offerings. I should also mention the digital timer and hint counter that appear on the wall mounted HDTV. Nice touch, again. This was the second time I did the Escape Room. The first time (Dec 2017) we did the Tides room and as we were finding clues and figuring things out, we realized that some locks were already unlocked! The employees let us know that they did not put them room back correctly, so it kind of was a disappointment, but we still enjoyed. The traveling crook room is a good one! We finished in a little under 30 minutes. Overall it's a great experience, though it is a small location. 8 people seems a little much with strangers but it's not too much with people you know. They give hints, so don't feel like you can't ask them! Great for team building, general bonding, and it's something interesting/different. Also, even though there is a timer, it isn't super stressful. Make sure to check their website/newsletter for discount codes because it is a little pricey per person ($20-$25). read more

I've done many escape rooms and have escaped every one of them. I've even done one by myself and completed it. Until today. This was my first try at ERVB. I prefer a small team of 2-4 people tops. Today we had 4 very smart women in King Neptune's Trident. First of all, I'm used to a game master who is in character, if not also in costume. I'm used to atmosphere... dramatic music, smoke, mystery, a good storyline. Here, it was bright. A single room. No music. No smoke. No mystery. And no game master. Just a girl who very casually went over a very basic introduction. No real clues, just a room with a bunch of locks. You know it's bad when you figure things out w/o needing to open a lock to get the thing out of the box that you are supposed to need to get to the next level! When our time expired, we had three unlocked locks but everything we needed to escape. We wasted so much time on trying to unlock those locks, or on continuing to work on other items that we'd already benefitted from. Had our "game master" been watching us, she could've and should've told us that the item was dead and to move on. To top it off, they even had a lock on a box in the room that we didn't need! I asked about it after and the girl said, "Oh, that's nothing. That's just for us." What?! My nephew who was waiting in the lobby for us told us that one of the staff was messing around on her phone while the other one was just walking around. They were not watching our game at all. I've completed: King Neptune's Trident, High Noon Saloon, the Traveling Crook, the Witch's Lair, and the Con Artist. Personally, I've always had a great time here. My team size is typically 2-3 and we usually finish the rooms (during 3 clue rule). They usually took the entire hour to complete and if we lost, we were 1 step away from finishing each time. My only critiques are: overused locks can sustain damage that may make the step almost impossible to complete in regards to not seeing the correct answer as a possible input. The Witch's Lair still has residual details from the Con Artist that might throw off other groups. I've only tried 1 other escape room so the experiences might not live up to the expectations of seasoned veterans who have been to several different escape room locations. read more

Neptune's Trident isn't an escape room. It's a puzzle room. The first thing the game master said was, "you can go out anytime you want to." Okay, so much for theater and ambiance. Unlike other escape rooms I've been to, this one doesn't have other rooms. You are in this small space the entire time. The clues are random and not very clever. You don't know what clue goes with what lock. You don't necessarily need all the clues to open a lock, so you don't know if you've used a clue or not. Consequently, we wasted a lot of time chasing down clues that we didn't need. This could have been avoided had we had an attentive game master. Our game master was essentially non-existent. This person is supposed to set the tone, hype you up, keep it exciting, and make it fun. Ours was slow to respond to request for clues and didn't tell us when we were spinning our wheels. We were about 2 minutes from finishing when time ran out. First time NOT completing an escape room in time. That felt like a fitting end to a flat time. My kids wanted an Escape Room for their birthdays that are three days apart. My son had already participated in the room Detention just after they opened over a year ago. The IBC office Complex is located off Independence. Turn in at the Starbucks. Surface parking is directly in front of the business. There was some minor debris in the bushes and by the door. Also lots of unsightly cigarette butts. Investing in a disposal system would be a good idea. We noticed a party of four, or five really puffing it up. With a few different rooms that are different in theme this is your starting point as you browse them online. Everything can be booked online once you decide. Look for discounts in touristy rags like Sunny Days. They have in the past run Groupons which we took advantage of the first time. The cost is around $25 full price. Our family booked the High Noon Saloon Room for 8 o'clock on a Friday and arrived 10 minutes early. A young male staffer greeted us and directed us to sign the consent forms in the lobby. There is a small waiting room with a few games around. After our family of four confirmed the other four would be the smokers outdoors we asked for a different slot, or room. My wife is very allergic to smoke. They accommodated us in the last time slot of the night and kept the room my children wanted. However, this was much later than what we hoped. An overview of the room was given by a different male staffer. A radio is placed in the room so you can ask no more than three hints. They have the room under surveillance as you work. A digital clock is displayed on the wall to add to the excitement of solving the puzzles. In the case of this room it's accessing the gold in the safe, yes it's a real safe and the sucker is ancient too! We worked as a family to locate the clues that would move us along to getting the gold. It's hard! We ran out of time after locating all the clues, but failing to work open the locks. After your time expires the staff walks you through step by step of what you missed and in our case a lot was missed. This room is currently at a 32% success rate making it the most challenging. I was blown away with the creativity and difficulty. After you fail, or succeed they have signs and props to hold up for a photo op with your own camera that a staffer will take. We would do this again the kids really enjoyed it. The next time we will try to get a full eight that we know. Without doing this you are put in a room of strangers that may, or may not work. In our case having four heavy smokers was a non starter. Love to come back and attempt another room. Recommend! read more

This escape room is actually the third hubby and I did together. We had several friends join us making it a total of 5 of us. We got a little turned around when driving there, but when we finally got there we saw that there were plenty of parking spots. As we arrived there, we saw that they were pretty packed. We were able to go straight up to the iPad and sign a waiver. We did the "Elf" room and it looked great. The lady explained the rules, shut the door, and it was on! We had to use up all our hints. I believe one has to enjoy riddles and solving puzzles to appreciate. Be ready to think!! There are several rooms to choose from. One can and should always call the attendant for clues. There are situations that aren't obvious and calling is ok! Call, get the clue, and enjoy! My daughter visited on a separate occasion with her friends & they loved it too! We (2 people) completed the King Trident (Neptune) Escape Room. Upon entering the building it is a shared office space and the lobby for the Escape Rooms was decorated nicely with props from the rooms and even a few puzzles to solve. As we entered the room the Game Maater told us the rules. She had a hard time getting through the rules and the story. It took around 10 minutes for her to leave the room. After that our time clock stopped working and the music to the room turned on and off for the entirety of our time. Its hard to stay focused without knowing how much time you have left. The puzzles were fun, although they relied heavily on locks and did not have many other types of puzzles. Another issue we had with the Game Master was that she was not consistently paying attention to what puzzles we had already solved. When we would ask for a clue she gave us a clue on something we had already solved. She also got distracted by another group escaping their room and stalled on giving us a requested hint. This ultimately took away time from our escape. We are pretty well versed at escape rooms and believe this would be great for beginners, not necessarily someone looking for a good challenge. read more

It's been a couple of years since I've done my last escape room so I was fairly excited when I was able to do another one recently with some friends. Escape rooms are perfect for team bonding activities, friends and family type of event or something you just want to do on a lazy Sunday afternoon (which was the case for us). Sign in was a breeze: the game master introduced himself to us, you sign a waiver on a tablet and he explains the rules/theme before our game starts. Our room was the: High Noon Saloon. The success rate 19% and we had to find the gold in the safe before the Sheriff returns! The success rate definitely didn't encourage us but we all eager to play and contribute in any way that we can. This room was a lot of fun and included a few set blockages/set ups that wasted our time but that was all part of the fun. You're able to ask the game master for hints throughout your game play time but no time is deducted (which was different from my first experience). My skill level tends to be "average" when it comes to solving puzzles and or riddles so I wasn't as excited as some other players. But once we were locked in the room and the timer started counting down from 60 minutes it was GAME time. We all had a blast and team work is definitely key. Always look around for hidden clues and make sure to observe for any find details, no matter how small is. In the end we.... ESCAPED! I think we had about 7 or so minutes left.
