Stopped in here for a burger on my way east. The place has a drive thru and no inside seating which was a bummer since it was cold outside. They had propane heaters but they weren't on. There is a ton of outdoor seating that would be great during warmer weather. On to the food. Lots of burger choices and I settled on the western burger. It was absolutely delicious. The patty was decent sized made of quality beef. The bun was fresh and kept the burger together. Loved the way they wrapped the burger so it didn't get super messy. Fries are ordered separately and they give you a good portion size. Lots of dipping sauces to choices too. Lady working was super friendly. So was the guy who brought my food out to me. Prices were reasonable for what you get. There were a ton of cars in the drive thru but as we sat in our car and ate we noticed they are a well oiled machine getting cars in and out quickly. As a burger snob and ranking member of the fat ass society I can honestly say that this place is AWESOME!! I pulled up to what appeared to be a converted rail car of some sorts, about 7-9 cars stacked up in the lot and 2 in line ahead of me. I thought oh shit, this gonna be a minute to get some food. Those that know me understand my hatred for fries, but they have waffle fries and you can top them with bacon jalapeños and some type of sauce. Asked for extra crispy and they delivered. Those fries were so good I ate the whole box on the drive to Bellingham. Burger was a double western, unfortunately I was full of the fries so I didn't get around to trying it until a few hours later and even cold it was delicious, I need to go back and forget about the fries so I can taste the burger as intended. Really disappointed. I drove all the way out here (a little over an hour) because the food looked so good and I've been craving a good burger and a good salad. I arrived at a little after 6:30 on Saturday 6/1/2024 and there was a sign saying "not taking anymore orders"..... an hour before closing...... it would be nice to update the info on this place and say the hours are "sort of 7:30". I'm giving two stars because this is super frustrating, but I am trying to give grace in case something super major happened like an emergency with an employee or something. If I'm ever in the area again, I'd probably stop by and see if it's actually open. However, I wouldn't suggest going out of your way unless you know for a fact that they'll be open. Credit goes to fellow Yelp Elite Tom B and most recently two months ago, my Toyota service advisor for telling me about Skagit Valley Burgers Express. He literally will drive to/from Seattle for their food. I'm sold and bookmarked it. I had an opportunity to seek this family run indie spot coming back south from Edison, Bow, and Bellingham yesterday around noon (10/29/22). Easy peasy detour from I-5 South, turn left from exit and head east on Cook, right on Collins, left on Hwy 20/Cascade Highway, it'll be to your left. Look for the giant hot dog and burger. Orders can be placed via drive through or park your car to use the order window and dine at one of the several park benches. Pro tip: Look at their menu online prior to arriving. Nice variety of burgers, fries, shakes, kids menu. Aside from making you drool, it makes for straightforward ordering especially during peak times. Very friendly person at the window and yes, they take cards as payment. I ordered the The Mondo with everything except onions (=double cheeseburger) and a large chocolate shake. I passed on garlic krinkle fries, fried pickles and fried Oreos...classic eyes bigger than my actual appetite and stomach, lol. I really wished I didn't indulge in two pastries and a mocha while up north. I was only able to take three bites of that amazing burger and two sips of the shake while onsite. I did end up eating it later for dinner and the shake was pounced on by The Homie when I got home. Succulent juicy beef patties, perfectly melted cheese, fresh lettuce and tomato, condiments - all held in a fresh bun, carefully wrapped, and placed in a compostable box. You'll likely be eating your burger in the parking lot, so if you don't like that kind of ambiance, this isn't the place for you. Burgers less than $10 are hard to come by these days except for fast food chains. They do crank out the burgers pretty quickly and the people who work there are super nice. I had the Skagit Burger, $7.99 and was pretty good. Loved the waffle fries too. Better than In And Out, IMO. Given their cult like following, this place probably also has a devoted following. I came here after visiting the tulips in Mount Vernon a few days ago. It was mid afternoon and nobody was in line. We ordered the jalapeño ranch burger, western burger, large garlic waffle fries, and a peanut butter strawberry shake. The total came out to ~$40, which is pretty pricey for grab and go burgers. Overall, the food was yummy. The burgers were flavorful and juicy. The garlic fries were very good and I liked that they were made with fresh garlic and herbs. read more

The food was good, but might have been better if eaten hot. One gets in line to order the food and then goes to another area where the food is delivered to the car. One of the best burgers I've had in years. They're turning out classics, sometimes with little creative touches, always with attention to every detail. It's hard to imagine finding a better burger anywhere served to go. They're kinda out in the hinterlands for some of us. I drove over an hour to check out this place yesterday. By the time we finally saw it by the side of the road, it had been raining for a little while and was starting to get dark earlier than it has in months. There were already 3 cars in line ahead of us, and there were vehicles in line the entire time we were there--at 4:00. Dinnertime was still an hour or two away, and they literally had orders open non-stop. The gravel in front of the drive-through order window was still dry when we left. There's no dining room, unless their little canopy tent happens to be open. They tell you to line up in the order you ordered, and they bring your food out to you. It's kinda like buying your ticket for a ferry trip, and then queuing up while you wait for your burger to sail. You find parking nearby and eat in your rig. It's not exactly a scenic garden. The house next door has a bunch of crap piled up in the yard, then there's an RV sales lot on one side, another business, and Highway 20 on the other side. Even on a gray, damp, gloomy day, parked next to a pile of old wooden pallets, this was an unbelievably good dining experience. We got the Skagit Western burger and the Blue Cheese burger. Both were excellent. Perfectly-grilled patties, fresh toppings, just the right amount of sauce. These are the kinds of burgers you can hardly pause once you start eating, even to grab a fry or a drink of water. Everything is just exactly right. Nice variety of different burger recipes on the menu, too. The onion rings are kind of small for the regular-size order, maybe about 7 medium-size rings. The batter is not the thinnest I've ever had, but it's nice and light. It has that fried crispness to the outside, but no crunch from cornmeal or anything like that. I loved 'em, even without any dipping sauce they had plenty of juiciness and flavor. The bacon-jalapeno-ranch krinkle fries were like a big nacho/poutine feedbag. The regular is so big it comes out in its own clamshell. Plenty of dry fries to dip in the toppings, and plenty of toppings coating half the fries. So decadently indulgent, and so damn good. We had been laughing at the car ahead of us, 'cause when their order came it out was 8 clamshells of food--so much the poor kid carrying it could hardly do anything with her hands. After actually trying the food, it's easy to see how everybody orders more than they really need. We couldn't finish the fries, but they would have re-heated well in the air fryer if we could have stood to drive all the way home with the truck smelling like that. The kids here are SO nice. They answer questions patiently, and they get everything right. It's easy to see why there's always a line, and I will NEVER come here any closer to the lunch or dinner hour than I did yesterday. I can barely imagine the line at a time like that. This will be ground zero for cheat meals for me for the foreseeable future, even living as far away as I do. read more

I just ate the most AMAZING Mushroom Burger - it is like a party in the mouth! The patty itself was huge, the mushrooms freshly sautéed, the bacon had exceptional flavor, you just know it's probably locally sourced, the raw onion, lettuce, tomato, sauce - all so fresh and simply delicious. Hands down, the BEST burgers you will ever eat. And the prices are incredibly reasonable. This is a craft burger that has so much love put into it. Best burger I have gotten in the Sedro/Burlington/Mount Vernon area, no competition at all. I ordered the Atomic Mushroom burger, Garlic Krinkle fries with ranch, and my partner had the Bacon Jalapeño Ranch burger. The fries were cooked nice & crispy with plenty of fresh garlic, parsley, and garlic oil. I ordered the large which was plenty for 2. Both burgers were juicy, cooked right, full of flavor, and huge! Piled high with veggies & bacon. My partners burger was spicy but not too spicy, and my mushrooms were absolutely delicious. Will be eating here again for sure! read more

Dropped by on way back to Seattle from WWU with student daughter. We were both hungry and wanted to try a new place. I had this bookmarked from a while ago, and as it's not too far off I-5 we decided to give it a try. Glad we did!!! Used drive-up window where a personable young man w/great hair helped us. I ordered the Mondo burger, she got Bleu Cheese burger, sweet potato fries and a BlackBerry shake(they were out of Raspberry.) Everything was great! Big two-handed burgers, held together nicely. So I do like this place, but lately I feel a bit cheated. Their burgers are good, but they are all $10+ with this new "10% inflation tax" they added to the total. So just be sure to check prices accordingly.. Onion rings are thick batter, I prefer a more solid crunch, I felt like it was a pancake wrapped in onion, not my taste. Worth a try, overall. Place is great. I like the atomic mushroom burger. Also the garlic fries and tarter. They always seem to be working hard and cranking out great food. If you call ahead and they don't answer they are slammed and taking window orders only but that only happened twice that I can remember. My boyfriend got the jalapeño ranch burger which is another party in your mouth. It came with cheddar and pepper Jack cheese, lots of ranch, tomatoes, jalapeños (they were fresh, thinly sliced, and spicy!!!), bacon and a large patty! It was fire! So good. The teriyaki burger was huge and oh so tasty! Tomatoes were thick, two types of cheese, very very thick bacon, thick cut of pineapple, lots of sauce, and that large patty!!! Oh my, again sooo good and delicious. The fries were definitely fresh and were not sitting around. The onion rings had a lot of batter, but still good. They have very yummy sauces which we got all except for tarter. The bomb sauce is a zesty bbq, sweet sriracha looks like spicy Mayo but is sweet, and the ranch was thick. The 9 oz strawberry shake was the perfect sweet ending to my meal. It wasn't big, so I finished it all. I loved how thick the shake was. What a great experience from start to finish. Where do I even start. I randomly picked this place to eat because it had a drive thru. I'm from Bellingham and don't venture that way often. I pull up and saw the line moved quickly because they take your order , and then have you pull forward to wait. The wait was maybe 8 minutes. I ordered the Skagit Valley Burger, a grilled chicken sandwich, and seasoned crinkle fries. Pulled into a parking spot... the rest is history. When I say this is the best burger I have had in a very long LONG time (Which I let the staff know) I mean it's been so long since I had a burger this good nothing else even comes to mind. I regret not taking a picture, but I was so into this burger I forgot where I even was for the few minutes I was eating it. All my problems went away too. Decent burger but wouldn't say "best" as I was expecting from reading all the reviews. It has all the elements a burger needs but the flavor compositions don't stand out that much. For example the atomic mushroom burger..... Well I was expecting a little more "boom" but it's a pretty normal mushroom burger, a bit under seasoned and pretty greasy from both the sauteed mushrooms and the bacon. I can't decide between the Atomic Mushroom Burger, Chicken Scallopini Sandwich, Bleu Cheese Burger or Bacon Ranch Jalapeño Burger because they all are delicious! Also you got to try their Bacon Ranch Jalapeños Fries and Garlic Krinkle Fries; wow flavors galore. My mouth is watering thinking about them. This family owned business that uses local products is worth the drive where ever you live. Make sure to check their days & hours before you go; and be patient because they are so good, that sometimes there's a line at the drive through window. This place is a drive thru, but they have a system and it's organized, plus there's a place you can eat your food outside and plenty of room to park and eat before you get back on the road.
