    Deluxe and potato puffs
    Wennie H.

Solid burger, fair prices. Three stars only because nothing blew me away, deluxe was reminiscent of a dicks burger but not as soft and flat. We tried the potato puffs, they are essentially sweet potato tater tots. Food took a bit but I'm assuming it's because 1) it's fresh and 2) it's a popular spot.

Great place for a basic deluxe cheeseburger. The crinkle cut fries are hot and crispy- not greasy. The Net has been serving burgers since 1955, so yes, it is good and a favorite of the locals. Outside eating at picnic tables in the back. Two deluxe cheeseburgers, small fries and medium soda $19.25. Bargain .

Me and my husband ate here a few nights ago and we both got The Net Deluxe burger, large order of fries and he got a medium Blackberry shake with extra blackberries and I got a medium Chocolate shake and everything tasted so good I kept raving about it. When we were ordering the employee who took our order was so nice and the other employees were really nice as well. We didn't have to wait that long despite the long line and once we got our food my taste buds went on a journey. Definitely recommend.

    Texas Heat Burger

Went looking for food while waiting for the Emergency Vet down the street. I got the Texas Heat Burger. It lived up to the name! Tons of Jalapeños, the patty was super juicy, thick slices of bacon, crunchy slaw, and the sauce was amazing. Smaller burger than I expected, but it was delicious! I'll definitely come back. Even though I didn't order fries, they even threw in a few! Great spot that has been around since 1955. They even have a cut little outdoor sitting area with grass and picnic tables.

Great shakes and burgers. Wait can be a little long at lunch, but you get your shakes quickly, so that's a bonus.

Once at the table we got our coffee & placed our order then waited, and waited and waited some more. It's a small kitchen & in addition to dine in service they were pumping out a lot of to go orders. Hopefully the wait for food at the table isn't as long normally because if it is that's ridiculous. 2 coffees & a switch to water later our food finally arrived. Sadly, the food was mediocre, at best. I imagine, as a business, they're also wasting so much money on portion sizes. Huge meals do not equate to quality. I really wanted to love it because it's a family restaurant but there was a lot left to be desired. Cons: - The majority of our experience was spent waiting - The staff seemed confused and very overwhelmed - The food was boring and didn't look good on the plate (I got the biscuits and gravy, my friend got chicken fried steak) Pros: - The staff was very friendly - Bathroom was clean - The freshly squeezed orange juice was incredible - Everyone seemed to be trying their best, I think the system just needs a lot of work

Our server was Rainey, she was awesome, very attentive, and came to our table right away to take our order. The atmosphere at Temperate Habits is very nice, there is outside seating but we sat inside due to the bright evening sun. Our meals took quite a while to arrive, I think we were at the tail end of the dinner rush and my guess is they have a small kitchen. My classic cheeseburger was about the most generic, predictable, and utterly boring burger I could imagine, and for $17 I would certainly not return for that or the mundane shoestring fries. The burger patty, bun, and fries were all non creative and the there was nothing even the slightest bit unique about my burger, in fact I swear it is the exact same burger that the Skagit River Brewery serves just around the corner. The surprise entree was the Crab and Lobster Tots, now whoever thought that would be good? The plate looked very strange to say the least but I have to say.... this dish was really good! So you'd think if they could create that total mayhem of a dish that they could get far more creative with the burgers and least have a house burger sauce or a higher quality bun for $17, something? I might return to Temperate Habits to have a drink with friends and share some tots, because they give you a large enough portion for four people, but I would certainly look elsewhere for a good burger. 5 stars for atmosphere and service, 1 star for the burger, 4 stars for the tots.

The patio faces one of the main streets so there was lots of good people watching. I ordered a beer flight and was very satisfied with all four of my selections: Prickly Pear Kolsch - it was creamy and easy to drink, bursting with prickly pear flavor; just the right amount of tart and sweet. Lightly Buzzed Honey Lavender Blonde - my favorite of the flight; it was very hoppy but light and refreshing and well balanced by intense lavender flavor and a smooth honey finish. Get it! You won't regret it. High Five Hefe - lighter/less hazy and more hoppy than most hefes it made for a unique and complimentary beer on my flight. Pommeroys Citra Pale Ale - a perfect West Coast IPA. To eat, my pup got the Lucky Dog hamburger (which the chef pre-cut) and loved it! He chowed down in less than a minute. And I got the Mac & Cheese Burger (sub a veggie patty) with the Garlic Fries. It was a very indulgent meal to say the least. The burger was loaded with so much Mac & Cheese that I couldn't even put the top bun on it and pick it up. lol I had to knife and fork the whole thing which was totally worth it. The Mac is a classic home style recipe (think Stouffers but better). Their fries are shoestring and super crispy and salty. And they loaded those up with an amazing garlic aioli and Parmesan. I got a side of their house-made curry aioli and was obsessed with it. Every fry that didn't have sauce or parm got a dip in that deliciousness and I added it to quite a few of the burger bites too. All in all, a great brewpub that I look forward to returning to in the future!

Case in point: I like dark beers, especially in cooler weather. They had a porter, which tasted tangy but not quite like a sour, and a stout, which mysteriously tasted very like an English porter, but too light a body for a stout, certainly no creamy head to speak of, and again that sour note. Whatevs. The drink menu is mostly chock-a-block with IPAs, blondes and lagers - ambers and darks are perhaps just not in their wheelhouse. We also came because they supposedly have a pool table here. And they do - tucked away in a dimly lit corner upstairs. We had to ask the waitress to turn on the lights for us, but only a mostly-burned out string of Costco tivoli lights served to illuminate the space. It was very hard to see the balls, or our food. Food? We had a flatbread pizza and Brussels. They were ok. They're probably better at sandwiches...again, we hit 'em where they ain't... So, the "up and down" bit: If you want to sit upstairs, fine, but you must order downstairs. Want to use a restroom? Downstairs. All done and ready to close tab? Downstairs. The bartender (running the place solo, apparently) was gracious and accommodating in bringing us food and refills upstairs, though, and we tipped accordingly. Good service. Not our particular cup of tea, perhaps, but give 'em a shot if you like IPAs and lagers, and don't care a whiff about pool or pizza. You might like it!

Relax - this is a small place with a small staff and even smaller kitchen: If you're in a rush, or the impatient type, this ain't it. But if you like to sit a spell and chat with your people as you enjoy friendly, knowledgeable staff (you're likely to be served by the owners themselves), a craft cocktail, relish a lovely meal, then polish it off with one of Jane's amazing desserts (salted caramel brownie à la mode, anyone?), then we'll see you at The Rex, because we will definitely be back! We were a large group (10) on a busy night and Jane and crew handled us beautifully. Our table enjoyed steak salads, the pork tenderloin, the chicken linguine, cod risotto, clam chowder, a Reuben (huge!), and flank steak. Dessert was outstanding - choose from Lopez Island Creamery ice cream (huge scoops), or one of Jane's scratch-baked treats (pies, key lime bars, brownies, cookies, more). The salted caramel brownie à la mode melted in my mouth. It was excellent, you could taste each component - the fudgy brownie, the creamy caramel, the occasional crunch of salt = 10/10, no notes, don't miss it.
