This place is not family or beginner friendly. I typically go to the adult nights, but regardless, this place caters to advanced skaters only. I have many complaints about this establishment, so let's get started. 1. Rude employees. NOT ALL OF THEM ARE RUDE. However, one boy in particular in his young 20s has been rude to my mother and I every time we have the displeasure of running into him. The other employee who i find even worse is an older man who looks just like Ice T. (If you see him, you'll know.) He singles certain people out for certain things that everyone else (the advanced skaters) are allowed to do. I came for my birthday with a birthday crown (which was a secured headband by the way) and he tried to tell me i had to remove it or purchase a hat clip. After a few minutes of convincing him it wouldn't be a problem, he let me wear it, HOWEVER!!!! Once the music started, there were about 10 other people with hats on the floor, NO HAT CLIPS, and not even wearing the hats securely on their head. As soon as I started skating, he told me i needed to go to the middle because i was going slow, (i wasn't, but i was a little wobbly) so i listened and went to the middle. HOWEVER, once the music started, there were a few girls going at an extremely leisurely pace, even compared to me-- a beginner. I think it's pretty clear he picks and chooses who has to follow the rules in the rink. 2. Chaos, and no consideration for beginners. I typically come during adult skate, and there are many clubs and groups that are advanced skaters and very good at what they do. These groups tend to be very rude to beginners by moving them out of the way, cutting them off, and doing tricks that they can't land, tripping people in the process. I experienced this yesterday when one of the advanced skaters didn't land a trick and stopped right in front of me with his long a** leg sticking out, causing me to fall and him to get his skates caught on my pants (that ripped.) The advanced skaters have no concern whatsoever for the people they cut off nor do they watch where they're going when doing complicated maneuvers. There should be some rules in place to ensure the safety of others. Some people are in the intermediate stages of learning, where we can skate fast in the rink, but not dance, go backwards, spin, swing each other around, etc. and it shouldn't be such an unfriendly environment for those who want to be better skaters. On top of this, the rink gets PACKED, like 50 or more advanced skaters doing twirls and dance moves without double checking who is around them while doing so. The larger groups also tend to stop by the walls even though there is a no stopping rule, and they also completely block the entrances onto the floor. 3. CREEPS! Men, there is no reason why you need to put your hand on every female's waist that you pass with the excuse of us "being in the way." I had an incident with an older man that grabbed my waist for literally no reason, since he was able to get around me without issue. I understand a tap on the shoulder or maybe a verbal cue because I understand I'm not good at maneuvering around others yet, but seeing as men tap each other's shoulders when they need space, yet feel the need to touch women's waists, backs, and hips because we "need to move out of the way" is complete BS to me. I got into a verbal altercation with this man who was upset that i told him to keep his bleeping hands off me, and he said I needed to move out of the way even though I wasn't in his way, and even though he could have shouted or tapped me on the shoulder. Beware of predators here. It may seem innocent, but i PROMISE it isn't. 4. I already said this, but NOT BEGINNER FRIENDLY!!! Now, if you're just learning how to skate and you want to learn, you can definitely practice here, but they will force you to stay in the middle of the rink. Yes, the middle. Where there are no walls for balance and nothing to help you break your fall. Oh yeah, and the advanced skaters also take up every inch of room in the middle practicing tricks so that people who don't know how to stop or maneuver around others or even skate in a straight line can have the most difficult time possible trying to learn. As someone who is barely able to skate around the rink without falling over anymore, stopping is difficult, and maneuvering around people holding hands, twirling, and doing crazy tricks is EXTREMELY difficult. If you're forcing beginners to stick to the middle and stay away from the walls, why the hell do advanced skaters get to take up all the space for everyone else??? The beginners have a 10 foot circle to practice in, THE ONLY AREA THEY ARE ALLOWED TO PRACTICE IN, whereas the advanced skaters have 10x the room on the outer edges, but they still get to hog the middle???? So fun! Great for a birthday party or just a fun evening! Prices are very reasonable. Kinda have to hunt your party coordinator down if you need anything (and remind them to bring your add ins to the table) but other then that it was all very easy and the kids had an awesome time! Came on a Saturday night for the "Family Skate Night." It really is anything but family friendly. They cater towards their advanced regulars. The floor of the rink is so old and needs refinishing. There are divots everywhere which makes it hard to skate. The rink is also very small. It was also super crowded and the rink was packed which makes for a dangerous time trying to dodge and not get hit or run over people. The music was so so, not very family oriented. We paid over $70 for our family of 4 and were so disappointed we left after about an hour. My kids couldn't really skate comfortably. They force the beginners to the center so they have to cross rush hour traffic to get to the middle- very dangerous. This place needs to limit the single adults coming for family skate night. Save it for the 9pm session. And refinish your floors and take pride in your establishment! read more

Really indifferent about my feelings here. Like others have said not beginner friendly, went for a fun/different date night and while I am not a beginner and can skate, I am not FLYING by people as well. We were ushered multiple times to get to the center to go slow or basically get off and practice on the carpet? To be fair on the carpet is a very different feeling then while on the floor. We only stayed about an hour and cut our losses. I see what multiple reviewers mean by the regulars and extreme skaters get privilege's and "take over" the whole place. I called several times mentioning I'm having a large party for my birthday & pizza we mentioned. I then order pizza for my large party to be delivered & they said, "no outside food". When I stepped in the door I was immediately taken back to my childhood where I lived on roller skates. I remember begging my mom to take me to the Great Skate so I could spend hours skating in circles on the rink while boogying down to some hip tunes. The décor was pretty outdated, which to me had a nostalgic charm. You can rent quads or in-line skates if you did not bring your own. They ask that shoes are not worn on the rink unless the DJ allows it for special contests or events. Rules also prevent cell phone on the rink, which is more a safety restriction that I appreciated. Everyone was pretty chill and friendly there: staff and patrons combined. It was as if we were all friends and there wasn't a strong stranger danger vibe. The place was really stuffy and I would have appreciated a better air conditioning system. Maybe it is because I am more used to ice skating now or maybe I'm just less tolerant in my old age. I understand that it was summer and Chino is hotter than where I live, so I tried to not complain too much. This is the standard rink where you are supposed to skate in one direction. The DJ played a mix of oldies and contemporary tunes. It seemed to appeal to everyone and the rink was pretty packed at times. It was awesome to see all ages on the rink from small children to senior citizens. What was the most fun was the contests and specials skate activities: limbo, hokey pokey and YMCA. If you were recognized by the staff for your efforts or achievement during these fun activities you received a coupon to redeem for a prize. We won popcorn and a glow stick. Yes! Extreme nostalgia. All this time on the ice has made me forget how much fun a good old roller rink was..... I just wish the air conditioning was working better. read more

I used to love going to Skate express as a kid, I'm almost 30 now and I was highly disappointed in adult night. They should change the title to experienced night. If you're a beginner, adult nights are not for you. They have the "fast lane" on the out side and the slower people in the middle. If you need to get out, it's basically do or die. Tonight as I was trying to get out of the roller rink, I almost made it out until some literally shoved me out their way making me fall on my back and smacking my head on the floor, luckily not too hard since I my back took the brunt of the fall. These skater just fly through and they don't pay attention. This place is not beginner friendly or lets you ease into it slowly. Even if they could break up the night 30 minutes for fast skaters and 30 minutes for slower skaters. Gives everyone a chance to actually enjoy the rink. But it's just continuous fast paced. I had my daughters 16th birthday here. Rented out the whole place for two hours and it was awesome! Even though I wish we had it for maybe an hour or two longer, it was still such a great experience! The staff and Dj were great! You can bring your own food and decorations but the skate rink theme is perfect enough! Thank you skate express! I definitely recommend it to everyone read more

My kids and I love Roller skating and I had to take them to Skate Express. We went on a Friday afternoon during the holidays. When I drove up to park we had to thru the gas station to get to the front of Slate Express then park. We got in, I saved some bucks by bringing my own skates and I rented a skate mate for my 5 year old. We put out stuff in their lockers. Every time we open and the lock them we had to add .50. So bring at least $2 in quarters. We got skates on and got on the rink. The Dj had some real good music to move too. New jams and back in the day jams. My 15 yr old stayed on the rink the whole 3 hrs. And my 5 yr old took water breaks and they had some close by seating for breaks. I liked the lockers close by the rink as well. Of course the place looked out dated but it did it's job as a roller rink. We will definitely go again and also try other roller rinks. read more

If you manage your expectations a bit, this is a place where you or/and your kids can have a lot of fun. It has that charming retro feel of a classic rink, complete with too loud music, crappy snack bar and the DJ occasionally throwing in the hokey pokey. There's also a lot of smiles, and I've never seen my daughter here not having a great time. Don't pay attention to the hours posted here on Yelp. There's often special events that close the place, and they are also almost always open special hours during school holidays. Always call first. Customer service won't dazzle you.. It's young people who have varying levels of service skills. It's clean enough, but The earlier you are here the cleaner it is. Once you exit, they won't let you back in without repaying admission, so don't leave anything in the car. There are lockers inside for 50 cents. If you have someone with you who isn't a strong skater, you can rent a "skate mate" for $4, which is like a little pvc pipe walker on wheels and will likely keep them from falling as they learn. We went today some friends and my granddaughter. We paid for skating , Skates And my granddaughter has a little problem with her left hand the bones are not developed and she has 3 fingers on the hand. So I paid for a cart to help her stay stable they let her skate with it for over a hour then told us she couldn't use it. My friend didn't skate and they charged her $12 just to come in and she had her baby with her. Terrible customer service rude people working concession stand. I had to pay $.75 for a cup of water a very small cup and went to get a quarter from the girl that was working there and she dropped it purposely on the counter and not in my hand. Then the people came to my granddaughter and told her she couldn't use the skate bar to help her. Then she came to me and told me my granddaughter is 10. My friend bought the kids churros and they told them 15 minutes the kids went to get them and they were burnt then they fuck with her on getting her refund back and said they didn't care what the receipt said they were only given her certain amount then she showed them on her phone and they gave her the rest and also put their hand. The manager put her hand in my friends face, and told her not to get hostile. She's the most soft-spoken person you've ever met in your Life. I would never suggest anybody going there. Brought my daughter and two of her friends for the second time. I have to say that second was not a charm. The place is uncomfortably crowded. I would venture to say that that it's a fire hazard. Rentals are expensive and the food is well, microwaved. The girls had a good time despite the crowd. We went during family skate night thinking it would be mostly family and kids, since my daughters are beginner skaters. There were a few groups of grown men just taking over the rink. Skating fast and aggressive. No one that works there cared at all, and it seemed like them knew them personally. Two of them dropped my daughters and anytime they bumped and dropped anyone whether it was a child or adult they found it hilarious. Another one fell on my daughter they when he pulled himself up he stepped on her arm so bad he broke skin, her arm was swollen and bruised. It would be nice if they set some rules for family night especially since there is an adult only night that the groups of grown men could have went to. Went here for my daughters Friends from school Birthday party, the place is a little out dated on the inside the arcade area is located right next to the food court area, which is small as self as well with only maybe 3 to 4 arcade games however, there is bumper cars right center of the building, the snack bar was fairly priced and had skate rink basics nachos. Slushy's drinks candies things to that extent the place was a little busy seeing how it was a weekend and I really like their party rooms which weren't closed off and all had different themes we were in a glow in a dark room, which I thought was super cool, and the kids loved. I didn't notice however, a lot more adults go here than actual children while we were skating, there were some veteran skaters that were zooming by which made it a little hard for the beginner to make a way. Should've read reviews before coming. Facility is run down, outdated, and there's a lot going on. Floors were ok though. The DJ played the same genre of electric dance music with absolutely no variety. He loved hearing himself talk, was rude, constantly stopping the music to yell at people for this or that. They have a lot of rules that aren't listed on website such as: no hats, no jacket around your waist, no fanny packs/purses, no over the ear headphones (but AirPod's are ok?) it's places like these that cause skate culture to die. Management here is super rude. I came here for a friends birthday on a Sunday night but we weren't aware of the closing gap at 7:30-8:00 where they kick everyone out and reopen for 18+ "adult night". We arrived after 7:15pm and no one was at the window to help us. It took a few minutes before anyone came around even after trying to repeatedly get someone attention asking for help. I could clearly see someone's back toward the window and I was yelling "WE EXCUSE ME" but he wouldn't turn around. Finally someone came by and we asked if we can get through for a friends birthday party. He had no idea what we were talking about or what birthday. Then informed us that they were closing in 15 minutes. So we asked if we can just go in and say hi then since they're about to close soon and kick people out. The person we were speaking to was adamant in letting us in and informed us that "since they play music, they're luck a club and charge a cover charge". Since they were closing soon, he reluctantly decided to be "nice" and let us in for free instead of charging us admission fee to say hi since they were on their way out soon. Yes.. you're totally like a club to charge a cover charge for music and no alcohol and your many many rules.. oh and if you come back for the 18+ time, you have to pay a second admission fee that's increased! Totally bogus if you asked me if you were already inside earlier (my friends) and then to come back and have to pay admission again on top of the rental. Good for kids party, bad for everything else. Not beginner friendly. If you are a season skater and can dodge people rushing by, then this place is for you! We came here as adults to have fun, but we aren't pros or seasoned. We were told to skate in the middle because we were "slow" skaters. The middle was full of skaters trying to dance and skate backwards and just blocking the way for the slow and beginners. The rink is definitely old and looks it. I don't think it's been updated since I was there as a kid... My daughter had a birthday party on 12/9/23 and it was definitely lacking. For spending $495.36 for a party with only 10, 10-year-olds, the price was not worth what we actually got. The DJ has severe issues with wanting to be the boss and is not very nice to the children or adults when he speaks to them. The pizza's took forever to come out after it was announced it was time for pizza.... Try gathering 10, 10-year-olds and keeping them still when they want to go back and skate.... Even at the end, the girl took my card to pay for the party balance and was gone forever. I had to go up to the front to get my card back... The party package says it includes goody bags (THEY DON'T), so I didn't buy any to pass out, apparently when I called to have the $25.00 charge removed because we didn't get goods as promised, they've never even heard of goody bags being given out. So watch your charges when they ring you up. I'm sure tons of folks have been taken on this. If the kids are over 4 ft, they cannot use the skate assists...even if the kid can't skate. Sink or swim, kids... I've called 3 separate times, first time I spoke to a man named Dana?, he said they would refund my $25.00 and to look for a receipt showing the refund. Then he called back and said he can't refund it until the owner is there on Monday. Still no refund...I called on Monday and left a message, no call back. It's now Tuesday, I call again and no call back. I will likely have to drive down there in person to get my money back.... At this point, if there is no return calls and no communication, I will never go back there to book a party. Probably wouldn't go back to attend a party either. Some nights/days are okay but some are a bit out of control. Some of the skaters go so fast you are constantly looking over your shoulder for your own safety / to not be in the way which ruins the experience. I took my friend and I here to practice skating because it's summer, over 100 degrees and we needed a cool place to practice/learn, and they said they don't give skate mates to people over 4 feet. Honestly that's a bit ridiculous seeing as anyone can learn anything at any time and any age.
